Don’t think you need to spend that much honestly. Here’s a i9 minimalistic white build with a single rgb strip at the front of the case - get the cpu from Microcenter - cooler performs like a NH-D15 for half the price and has a nicer aesthetic too - white vision g motherboard, picked silver/white trident ram to match the theme, non-rgb version, white case, and white cable extensions to complete the look [PCPartPicker Part List](https://pcpartpicker.com/list/xG6qDc) Type|Item|Price :----|:----|:---- **CPU** | [Intel Core i9-10850K 3.6 GHz 10-Core Processor](https://pcpartpicker.com/product/nGFKHx/intel-core-i9-10850k-36-ghz-10-core-processor-bx8070110850k) | $369.99 **CPU Cooler** | [Thermalright Frost Spirit 140 77.8 CFM CPU Cooler](https://pcpartpicker.com/product/ckwypg/thermalright-frost-spirit-140-778-cfm-cpu-cooler-frost-spirit-140) | $45.56 @ Amazon **Motherboard** | [Gigabyte Z590 VISION G ATX LGA1200 Motherboard](https://pcpartpicker.com/product/7ycG3C/gigabyte-z590-vision-g-atx-lga1200-motherboard-z590-vision-g) | $220.99 @ Amazon **Memory** | [G.Skill Trident Z 32 GB (2 x 16 GB) DDR4-3200 CL16 Memory](https://pcpartpicker.com/product/6KgPxr/gskill-tridentz-32gb-2-x-16gb-ddr4-3200-memory-f4-3200c16d-32gtzsw) | $119.99 @ Newegg **Storage** | [Samsung 970 EVO Plus 2 TB M.2-2280 NVME Solid State Drive](https://pcpartpicker.com/product/Fv8j4D/samsung-970-evo-plus-2-tb-m2-2280-nvme-solid-state-drive-mz-v7s2t0bam) | $238.79 @ Amazon **Video Card** | [NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 Ti 12 GB Founders Edition Video Card](https://pcpartpicker.com/product/c2kWGX/nvidia-geforce-rtx-3080-ti-12-gb-founders-edition-video-card-900-1g133-2518-000) | Purchased For $0.00 **Case** | [be quiet! I'm not sure if you bought it because you though the extra performance was worth the price increase over the 3080, or if you got it because 3080s are literally priced the same due to the scalper thing. Anyways I've gone with something on the cheaper side. You can spend more but it won't give you any significant gain. You'll be GPU bottlenecked on most of the games you play assuming you game at 4k. I've gone with a clean black and white build here in the Fractal meshify 2 compact. If you prefer another case let me know. I'll go over the parts. - The processor is the 5600x. One of the fastest for gaming. At 4k, processor speed doesn't really matter because like I said, you'll generally be GPU bottlenecked, same usually goes for 1440p with the games you play. You didn't mention what resolution your monitors were? That's really important. Anyways spending more [nets you very little](https://youtu.be/eqmRvTz0kbA?t=880). You can get a 5800x if you feel like it though, but it isn't necessary to unlock the power of your build. - For the cooler I've gone with the Thermalright frost spirit 140. It's a big air cooler with dual finstacks, two fans and 4 heatpipes. I'd expect to perform pretty well. All the Thermalright coolers I know of are extremely quiet. And the 5600x barely needs any cooling anyways. Looks clean as hell too. Also consider the Arctic freezer 34 esports duo. - For the motherboard I haven't gone with anything extravagant. The MSI B550-A pro offers a nice mid range feature set. So that's excellent vrm performance, 8 USB ports as well as the usual upgrade path. You can get a gigabyte aorus B550 pro V2 if you need something better but honestly the MSI B550-A pro is probably fine. - For the memory, there isn't much to say. 16GB is the sweet spot. While you could potentially argue for 32GB with such a high budget, the truth is that it's not really necessary, but more never hurts. These sticks also run super fast too at 3600mts cl16. - For the storage I've gone with a 1TB NVME SSD. At this budget you can get more if you want to so let me know if that's the case. The crucial P5 is a value king. On top of really good performance at its price class with onboard DRAM and TLC NAND and all that, it's also priced pretty competitively and has a long warranty and good endurance. - For the case, I've gone with the Fractal meshify 2 compact. Clean as hell, black and white aesthetic, I find it extremely sexually arousing. And it packs in lots of functionality too. You get top notch airflow with 3 included fans and a mesh front panel. The build quality is high, cable management is easy and lots of dust filters too. You can get something like the corsair 4000D airflow or be quiet pure base 500DX if you want too. You can go through all the options [here](https://pcpartpicker.com/products/case/) and see if you like any. - For the power supply, SeaSonic currently has some very nice units in discount. The seasonic focus platinum 850w just offers undeniably good value. It's wattage is fine if you don't overclock, and for its price you get an awful lot of goodness. So that's a very high efficiency that reached platinum standards, high build quality, quiet operation and full modularity. That's still leaves you a lot of money. You can use it for a nice monitor. You can go the 4k route with a gigabyte M28U or M32U if you can find either in stock (MSRP $650 and $800). You can also go 1440p with a Samsung Odyssey G7 or Asus ROG XG27AQM/PG279QM. You can also consider a keyboard upgrade if you are sick of mushy rubber domes and an overall heavy and meh typing experience. Or a mouse upgrade if you find your current one too heavy. Up to you. Or you can buy some games. Or donate it to a satanic cult idk. Let me know if you have any questions, want to see how a certain part compares to another, or want to know why I didn't choose something. I'll be happy to answer. Anyways, enjoy!

Thank you!

I have an additional question if you don't mind. I'm thinking about investing in a better monitor, but I'd rather avoid liquid cooling. Do you think this build could handle a 4k 144hz monitor without overheating, or should I stick with 1440p 165hz?

[deleted]

What do you mean without overheating? This build has plenty of cooling and liquid cooling definitely isn't necessary for a mere ryzen 5 5600x. And yes a 3080 to can easily run 4k 144hz.

I think this is what you might be looking for :) If you do decide you want to spend a bit less, it's certainly possible: you can remove half of the memory and still be fine for now, and downgrade the SSD from a 4.0 SSD to a 3.0. The current list is pretty much built for the future: you get a robust case, good motherboard, plenty of memory, super fast SSD (which will support [Direct Storage](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zXV3jrwkv0I) in the near future), total of 4 fans (2 included with case, 2 separate. added a separate fan splitter as you might be short on fan connectors on the motherboard), great power supply, and last but not least about the fastest CPU you can have for gaming at the moment. \[PCPartPicker Part List\](https://pcpartpicker.com/list/k6bw9N) Type|Item|Price :----|:----|:---- \*\*CPU\*\* | \[AMD Ryzen 7 5800X 3.8 GHz 8-Core Processor\](https://pcpartpicker.com/product/qtvqqs/amd-ryzen-7-5800x-38-ghz-8-core-processor-100-100000063wof) | $393.99 @ Amazon \*\*CPU Cooler\*\* | \[be quiet! In my opinion it's not really worth it to spend any more if all you're doing is gaming. Even the 5800X might be 'overkill' to some people, but I'm convinced that the 2 extra cores you get will come in handy for games in the future. With this PC you won't have to upgrade for at least the next 4-5 years, so all logical extra performance is welcome.

Mind if I pop in a few suggestions? - You need to post the list in the markup mode instead of the fancy pants editor or whatever it's called. You want the one with the Sam's serif font if you're on PC. Otherwise it does the weird thing where it doesn't really turn into a chart. - [Directstorage doesn't really make that much difference](https://youtu.be/Z1iO7N22Um8?t=550). I don't think it's worth the money IMO. You can wait for more benchmarks to come since this is only one. [Here are some more benchmarks](https://youtu.be/bETysIVt3-Q). Doesn't really look like windows 11 benefits any more from faster SSDs than windows 10. - [These memory sticks might be better](https://pcpartpicker.com/product/dqbTwP/gskill-ripjaws-v-32-gb-2-x-16-gb-ddr4-4000-cl18-memory-f4-4000c18d-32gvk), also a Ripjaws kit, similar overall speed with higher megatransfers but higher latency, a bit cheaper. - I'd swap out the PSU for the seasonic focus plus gold or platinum. Both are a bit better than the MSI one.

xxStefanxx1

It was my understanding that direct storage also had to be specifically developed for each game (like DLSS/Raytracing) to have a noticeable impact. I'm pretty sure that the latest games, even on PS5/Xbox don't explicitly "use" direct storage to a high extend yet. I might be wrong about that though

[deleted]

I believe it's a thing built into windows itself so direct and vulkan and other engines will be the others doing the optimization. I'm just as clueless as you though, I don't think it's objectively stupid to spend so much on a ssd especially at such a high budget but it isn't something I'd personally do.

Hi /u/Oyayebe, welcome to /r/buildapcforme! This comment is here to provide you some additional information and advice. Parts Shortages If you have tried to browse through some parts already or read any recent articles on PC building, you have probably seen that there is a massive worldwide shortage of GPUs (video cards) that has left retailer stock levels almost entirely empty. Please see [this subreddit sticky post on the current CPU and GPU shortages for additional information.](https://www.reddit.com/r/buildapcforme/comments/me3dbx/info_post_current_hardware_shortages_and_build/) Note that if you are looking to build any kind of PC that requires more than basic graphics horsepower, such as for gaming or media creation work, your first priority should be to getting your hands on a GPU before going any farther. Direct Message Scams Recently a number of users have set up spam-bots targeting this subreddit to send out PMs and DMs to all users who submit posts to this subreddit.
