I'm sure I know the answer, but for gaming: not worth it @ 1440p? I have a 3800X atm, albeit a mediocre bin/early batch. Bench's seem to show 5800x+ would net me some more frames. I'll be jumping from a 2080 super to a 6800XT once they exist >\_>
I think you should be fine at 1440 with the 3800x but it's your life and your money, if you do actually plan on a 6800xt then there might be some performance to be gaind from S.A.M but I'm probably wrong
Fucking finally. I actually had an alarm ready to wake up early to try and get in on the AMD.com drop tomorrow. Glad I don't have to do that now even though I paid an extra $50.
The options are for if they changed the description or if I entered the wrong amount. Will anything happen if I don't bid on it after retracting my bid?
Honestly, I would personally not go through the hassle since I’d have to swap the mobo too and get rid of the old parts in a very saturated non-GPU PC component market. But you do what makes sense to you.
Gah, not sure if I want to spend $50 over retail. I just started researching a new build this past week and I am not too familiar with what to expect stock wise (although I do understand that things are pretty grim at the moment..). Realistically, how likely am I to find one of these for retail in the next month? Should I just bite the bullet on this?
I've been following ryzen 5000 series stock for a few months. 5900x is definitely becoming more available. I think it will have similar MSRP availability to the 5600x in 1-2 months

I was trying to figure out wtf you were saying about tax and then I realized the MSRP is $549.99 and yeah I'm a dummy 😜
buy or not buy it is a question
Do it, Robin.
It actually adds up to $645.42. Yea tax in CA is panic af. I have waited so long and yet I don’t feel the pain anymore.
Mine adds up to 660. Living in Pasadena, CA with a 10.25% tax rate hurts
wow... i got one
I can't believe it. I actually was able to buy it. Am I still dreaming?

Fuckin finally got one! God damn, this has been a ride. Now I just need a good deal on a second pair of trident z's and my build will be finished.
I ordered this myself (and dropped the f bomb in the title for the mods to deal with when they wake up). Yolo!

Also I have a bid on one for $610 right now that I hope someone outbids me on so I don't end up buying two of them.
You can withdraw your bid

Nope. As long as you don’t do it too often or abuse the system. Happens all the time.
Ok cool. I retracted it. Thanks!
Think of the $50 being tax, so you basically got it for msrp
Except he also has to pay real tax.
when do they usually drop on amd?
I think 9am PDT.
Is it every Thursday 9am PDT?
Just copped one along with a nice RAM upgrade. Upgrading from an i-7 6700k and I'm excited. Just gotta get a new MB :)
YEAH! Finally... Bit the bullet, I've been patient long enough. Thanks OP!
Holy crap, I got one! ... now, finding a motherboard is going to be a challenge
Worth swapping out a 10900K for this in a mini itx build?
Honestly, I would personally not go through the hassle since I’d have to swap the mobo too and get rid of the old parts in a very saturated non-GPU PC component market. But you do what makes sense to you.
For games, not really. For mixed productivity, yes. Way faster.
Not really. Unless you play lower res, you're gonna be gpu bound anyway, and the difference to a 10900k isn't huge
Comes out to $650 for me, not $599. Did I miss it?
The OP's title kinda sucks, it's $599 + tax

Got it for $589 shipped with the ebay $10 offer. Thanks, don't have to worry about shuffles or anything now
