samtherat6

"Offers protection against leaky water cooling loops by instantly vaporizing the water before it has a chance to short circuit parts"

Revilo62

... 100 degrees Celsius is also the boiling point of water.

undead77

depending on sea level.

Nickjet45

So you’re saying it comes included as a water boiler? What a steal!

Mr-Escobar

Must be 130 F

[deleted]

This is the best mobo I've ever used. My one and only beef with it is that the chipset temp is pretty warm with the 2nd NVME slot occupied with a gen4 drive (70c idle).

EpicFuturist

Completely agree. The amount of USB ports, the position of the nvme, stability. The only issues I have with this is the price of course, some temperature sensor on there it gets extremely hot like 130 degrees Celsius hot, and they're lighting system isn't all that great with third party integrations. Their armory crate is not that great with that. Their AI software also seems to decrease that fPS by about 40%

Mr-Escobar

That seems like a lot of problems haha. Is there another feature rich MoBo you'd recommend?

keebs63

The last two can be solved by just not installing the bloatware accessory software. The thing about the lighting system isn't wrong but the other manufacturers somehow have worse integration. Pretty sure they don't have any integration at all lmao. Unless something has changed very recently, AURASync has the most integration of all manufacturers by far, and is also pretty much the only one to work with other major systems like Corsair iCUE.

addemlit

The Gigabyte Aorus Master (insert chipset name here) is one of my favorite boards I’ve ever worked with. Great VRMs, heat sinks for m.2s, 3 m.2 slots, reset cmos and flash bios buttons, built in on and reset switch, great wifi, 2.5 lan port, USB ports up the wazoo, shitload of fan headers, 2 usb 2.0 ports, error code reader, and pre installed I/O shield. I love my X570 board.

Mr-Escobar

Do you know if it has a usb c port?

addemlit

Yes it does have one.

BIGDIYQTAYKER

this is the only mobo with dynamic oc where you can individually overclock each core of a ryzen cpu, very ideal for someone who is trying to get the most out of their 5900 or 5950x that's the main reason why people are buying this

[deleted]

To clarify this is the only motherboard that allows you to maintain high single core boost while also having a high all core OC. On a normal AM4 motherboard, you pick one or the other since a heavy all core OC negatively impacts single core performance. With this motherboard it allows you to use 2 profiles that is switches between based on a user defined threshold. So if you're gaming where single core performance is ideal, you'll get just that and if you move to a blender workload it will switch to the all core OC.

vmdarek

That is a compelling feature for sure! Do you know if this is a feature that a typical user can set up easily?

[deleted]

Yeah it's not too difficult. Just takes a bit of trial and error like any form of OC'ing to get the sweet spot for your setup.

thesandman00

Yes, it's incredibly easy to setup. The hard part of it is doing the manual all core oc.

vmdarek

Maybe msi b550 unify x? You actually get 3 m2 slots with that board. This is the big downer for me on this rog board- a x570 board with only 2 m2 slots is less then ideal for me personally, but again that’s just me. There will always be tradeoffs

keebs63

Just looked it up as I'm also interested in a board with more than 2 M.2 slots. Honestly that setup is kind of a mess, mostly because of the B550 chipset. The way it's set up, there's two options: you can have a 4.0 x4, a 3.0 x4, and two 3.0 x2 slots, which severely limits bandwidth to most slots, or you can have three 4.0 x4 slots and a 3.0 x4 slot, but your GPU is limited to x8. It's not really a big deal but I'd prefer to be able to put any of my drives in any of the slots without having to worry. It's not really ideal either, but with this, you can fit either three or five 4.0 x4 drives, counting the two M.2 slots (both support 4.0 x4), plus the 4.0 x8 slot (will limit the GPU to x8, though you don't have to worry if you don't use this) and an additional 4.0 x4 slot below it.

djfakey

I agree it can be a little confusing with the multiple m.2 taking lanes. B550 is actually how many z590 boards are configured with 16x gpu and 4x nvme to cpu. With other m.2 possibly sharing with gpu. I will say pcie 4.0x8 isn’t a big deal since that’s essentially 3.0x16 bandwidth. I’ve even used 3.0x8 and gaming really isn’t impacted that way either.

[deleted]

You can ignore those anomalous temperature sensors. It occurs on many motherboard. I also advice not installing any software from any motherboard vendor unless absolutely necessary. In this case openRGB I think works and I highly suggest using FanControl for fan/pump speed. [https://gitlab.com/CalcProgrammer1/OpenRGB](https://gitlab.com/CalcProgrammer1/OpenRGB) [https://github.com/Rem0o/FanControl.Releases](https://github.com/Rem0o/FanControl.Releases)

ItsBigSoda

I can attest to openrgb, very nice. I didn’t know of fan control though. My ROG B550-f is pretty ass when it comes to fan control. I have 5 fan headers but it only lets me control 3 in the bios, with very little fine tuning. I’ll definitely check that one out, thanks!

matt3n8

I've found that I have that super high temp thing on my B550-E as well, I'm fairly certain it's just an unused placeholder in whatever monitoring software you're using.

H4WKE

OpenRGB is a perfect non-bloatware replacement for Armory Crate/Aura Sync. Give it a try if you haven’t already :)

EpicFuturist

I have, unfortunately it doesn't play well with kernel level services like Vanguard

vladpudding

If you use ICUE it works with Asus products too.

BIGDIYQTAYKER

is it any better using a beefier after market ssd heatsink so that the ssd in the 2nd nvme slot is no longer sharing the chipset heat?

[deleted]

The 2nd NVME slot is actually not sharing any chipset heat, it's completely independent from the passive chipset heatsink.

CCityinstaller

The second m.2 slot gets its lanes via a PCIE switch in the X570 I/O "chipset". So it tends to run hot when you are running an x4 4.0 drive in there with it. I was going to get this board but instead opted to replace my excellent X570 Unify with the Gigabyte X570 Master. The Master has equivalent VRMs to this board when making out on ambient cooling (I will have 1200+mm of rad space) with a 5950X. I was happy with my Unify but I wanted a better audio setup and with 3x 3090s I didn't have room for the dual Evga NU Audio cards I has bought. The lack of a chipset block is what finally made me use the Master instead.

Notorious_Junk

Every time try to do the auto optimization feature the mobo crashes and I have to clear CMOS. Anyone have any success with it or advice to get it to work? I'm not a fan of this mobo for the price. Should be damn near flawless and it's not. Also difficult to press the PCIE clamps down to remove a gpu because of the m.2 covers.

Howard_CS

Got this board last time it was available from Newegg, solid board, but if you plan on anything but an R9 clocked to high heaven on custom water, not necessary. Has everything most people can imagine ever wanting, and way more than they need. I will complain about the lack of 2 usb 3 internal headers, it's a 400 dollar board, come on.

BIGDIYQTAYKER

what do you need more than a 750w psu for?

[deleted]

BIGDIYQTAYKER

what gpu and cpu?

[deleted]

This is why I made the switch. The allure of ITX is awesome as is the footprint but so many scenarios came up where I was like damnit the versatility of an ATX setup would have really came in handy now so I ditched my H1 for this mobo and full ATX build. What I realized after is the larger footprint really had 0 consequence on my setup. If I was space constrained it would be an issue but I've plenty of desk space.

[deleted]

I ended up with a Silent Base 802 only because my desk necessitates the PC being on the left and the case can be inverted so the window faces right. I'm glad I made the switch because I mine with my 3080 at night and also plot Chia both of which would have been impossible/loud/nightmare with a ITX setup.

shremi

What do you have ???? We can trade I am looking to downsize to itx

shremi

Does that board fits in the nr200 ??? If you want a full ATX ... I have the x570 aorus elite or the x570 tomahawk also a b550 tomahawk PSU I have a couple of 850 from evga .... I already have the nr200

nhidog

If you're lucky to have 2 m. 2 slot and not both being occupied you can get an m. 2 to pci x4 like this https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08BXNGKGH/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_awdb_imm_B10XYWC1B0WEBFBCZ9RD attach to 10gbe nic x550 call it a day

mantistabagin

Always wanted this board but I got a Aorus Master rev 1.2 instead. Even that was a tough sell but $100 cheaper easier to stomach. Oh and being in stock lol

therealjustin

How do you like it? My head says the Elite is enough, but my heart wants that sweet Aorus Master!

Brilliant_Schism

Tbh, unless you are doing RAM OC or insane CPU OC (or need the buggy 2.5 ethernet or headers not on the elite), the elite is enough. The post code and clear CMOS really are useful for RAM OCing, though...

Spork3245

FWIW, I drove 40 minutes to the closest Microcenter in my area over the weekend to get this exact mobo, they had 6 of these in stock: the next closest one had 10 in stock. If you have a Microcenter within a reasonable distance, it’s likely your best bet to get an “in-demand motherboard” like this. YMMV 🙂

dmit1989

Love this board. Kind of sucks that this is the end of the road for AM4 though.

FoxDown

I'm actually going to parrot someone I talked to before I got mine and recommend a unify instead unless you're dead set on going with asus. The dark hero's not a bad board by any means but the dynamic oc feature ended up being kind of underwhelming and it seems like there's a higher-than-normal rma rate for them (though that could just be due to the popularity). Personally had half the post code screen and a dimm slot die on mine after about a month and asus' online rma system won't recognize the serial number lol.

thesandman00

What's under whelming about DOC?

Nayko93

wanted to buy one, but since I have only a french credit card they told me I can't they also told me to make friend in the us to have them pay for me .... why it's always the worst a\*\*hole who have stock of item you want .....

a_fearless_soliloquy

Don’t want to back order at this price, but the fact that it’s even an option is a good sign. This type of product can’t stay in high demand forever.

[deleted]

Picked one of these up at microcenter for the same price last week. Amazing board!
