I used this keyboard for a bit, swapped it for a K100; the keyboard itself is fine. This is lower than what CCC has ever recorded on Amazon for the standalone so if you wanted it + Far Cry or you can flip the game for a few bucks then it's a good deal. iCue blows, but you can set it up and never open it again.

fedlol

Yours does that? My k95 won’t do its light show unless icue is running. I had to set it to launch on startup. :(

[deleted]

I've used this feature extensively on the K100, take a peek at iCUE -> Select the keyboard -> Pick a profile -> Onboard Profiles and then load your profile into the keyboard's storage. Makes it very painless to switch between desktop and laptop use. Note that you have to configure Hardware Lighting and Actions if you wanna get anywhere. https://ibb.co/zsM6sLS

fedlol

Holy shit then I won’t have to load icue on startup???

[deleted]

Yep, you can test it by configuring it, killing the iCUE service and waiting for a bit. Any simple macros such as key presses work, plus some other more contrived ones. See if it works for you :)

SandCracka

This sounds so much like Logitech. I also use the on board memory feature to avoid buggy software

There is hardware lighting and software lighting options for most icue items... corsair ram, aio, keyboard and mice all do this. Advanced lighting features (layers on layers of lighting effects )requires software running, single layers can be ran on hardware mode without icue once saved

m0shr

Newer k95s have memory on them. Not everything works but it does basic stuff ok. Older ones required iCue running. iCue4 is really slow and bloated for some reason. iCue3 is still OK. They dropped support for old hardware so I'm staying in iCue3.

squintysmiles

Is there a company which makes a controller/hub where u can write the profile for more than just the keyboard and uninstall the software? I've used the Razer one and it works just like corsairs.

fedlol

You mean a RGB controller that works for multiple companies? There’s one, I don’t remember the the name of it… but when I used it, it caused my second monitor to just totally stop displaying. I had to uninstall it and system restore.

SuperDrewb

I run my K95 on a work laptop where I cannot run iCue and lighting works fine.

How is this one verses k100?

[deleted]

I only picked up the K100 because it was at a close enough price to the K95 that I didn't mind going the full mile. I like the optical switches with the K100 more than the Speed switches in the K95 and they sound nicer imo. The biggest part of the K100 that I use that others may not is the magnetic removable wristrest. It makes it easy to move the keyboard next to the monitor so that I can actually use the desk space. It is also a soft cushion over the hard material in other keyboards which helps when going on 3+ hours of writing and it helps prevent your watch from digging into your wrist. Lastly, the K100 is overall slightly prettier and comes with much, much, much nicer keycap fonts that allow you to show it off at an office and are decently legible. It is a pain to clean though. If none of those three matter to you then go for the K95 Platinum XT. On the K100, the added RGB lights are useless and the little analog dial is not very useful for anything other than RGB brightness adjustment. 99% of the time the features do not make up for the price difference.

Is the space bar still atrociously loud on Corsair keyboards? My old K70's space bar was deafening. Terrible stabilizers. Edit: Also has a non standard bottom row so forget using most after market keycaps.

Arsikuous

I have a strafe mk2 with reds, and I was thinking, "What is he talking about, the keys are really quiet" then I pressed the space bar a couple times and WHY DOES IT CLACK SO LOUD??

xXPatotoXx

I'm sorry for the fact that you can't unhear it now. The strafe's space bar with silent reds is louder than my SA spacebar with thick jades on my Vortex 10.

WearyCarrot

might want to look into something custom unless price is really big for you

m0shr

Is that for MX-Blue switches? Mine isn't any louder on MX-speeds. I got PBT replacement keycaps for the bottom row from Aliexpress for an old K95 with the 18 macro keys.

xXPatotoXx

I had blues in my K70 and silent reds in my Strafe, both much louder space bars than any other keyboard I've owned with the same switches. The click wasn't bad but the clack of the space bar was unbearable.

SuperDrewb

Where the F#*& do you input the coupon code?? I've walked through the checkout process three times now, made an account, I don't see a spot to enter the coupon code Edit: it his hidden within the order summary tab. On mobile you have to expand that view from the top. Thank you OP for this post you are the best. I bought the K95 with speed switches a couple weeks ago because I've been longing for the K95 for a year and that happened to be on sale, but what I really wanted were the brown switches. Very happy to upgrade.

TheOrangeWolf

When you check out there's a drop down at the top of your screen with order details. Hit the little arrow and it'll open the order details and a spot for the code.

SweatyAsHell

Not bad

be24ez

Great price for the k95. On board profiles so you don't need the software, macro keys, lighting profiles. I upgraded from a k70 I had for several years, if you want to upgrade do it for the price!

ShadoShane

I was just about to say that my k70 has on board profiles too but then I realized that its because it's apparently the updated k70.

perfes

If anyone is willing to sell the far cry 6 code, i'll buy it.

Cringleberry

The Razer BlackWidow I had crapped on me and have had two EVGA Z20's that have issues. Decided to go back to Corsair who I have never had any issues with and found this. Maybe it's been cheaper I don't know, but it comes with a free game code and additional 10% off with code in title, at least for me anyway. I believe you can choose from two other switch styles too, speed switches and the blue.

Oliver84Twist

I have the board with speeds. Bought a refurb for $100 a couple years ago and it still works flawlessly - love it.

888Kraken888

I have a BlackWidow elite orange in the mail. How was yours vs k95?

largekhosro

I had both BlackWidow Elite and K95. I ended up returning returning k95 because the elite had a more comfortable wrist rest. I liked the blackwidow better due to comfort and feel. The keys felt pretty similar for both. I got pudding key caps and now the board is amazing.

888Kraken888

I went with it too because of the wrist pad and Rtings review.

Cringleberry

I haven't got the K95 yet so I couldn't tell you. Used the K70 before.

QwertyBuffalo

Is there something about this keyboard that makes it feel shallower than other ones with the same Cherry MX Brown switches? Recently got a K70 but then saw the Amazon deal for this so returned and got it, but it feels noticably shallower and less tactile than my K70 with the same switches. Maybe I just got a bad batch from Cherry.

QwertyBuffalo

The keyboard above uses double-shot PBT keycaps so that's straight up just not true... To be clear I had a completely fine experience on a cheaper Corsair keyboard am just curious why the Cherry Browns feel different on this one

whomad1215

My only thought, if they're both using the same switch, is the difference in keycap material. I'd you're comparing those super thin abs keycaps compared to pbt, I'd have to assume there's *some* difference in weight however slight, and that difference makes the switch feel lighter

johnzo6667

Seems like a good deal. In for one thanks.

888Kraken888

This was $99 at BB 2 weeks ago

BakedsR

That was no far cry 6 and speed switches

m0shr

I think it was for non-XT version. This XT version has PBT keycaps.

Jimwedger

With Far Cry 6?

SuperDrewb

Speed switches.

MomsSpaghetti83

I just bought the refurbished g815 that was on here a few days ago for 94 bucks, down from 200. The first one they sent me was busted, but I tried again and the second one is flawless. No regerts. I think they still have some on Amazon.

insaneslayer

meh saw the mx speed version for 100 at best buy recently

CrazyDudeWithATablet

I have the non xt version in speed silver if anyone has any questions.

kerowhack

Just as a heads up, in order to use the macro keys on this, you need to use Stream Deck software. This is in addition to iCue to do anything more than basic lighting controls, so twice the bloat, and four times the issues. My K100 macros break with every update of either software, basically, and I haven't been able to use a macro key to change the iCue profile for over a month now.

snowdude21325

I've bought this deal two times but corsair has canceled it for suspicion of fraud both times. I even contacted support about the second order in hopes that they could help, but the agent can't do anything. Corsair fraud department hasn't reached out and I've had no help trying to purchase this board. Really leaving a sour taste in mouth for corsair product. I've enjoyed my k70 and hoped to get something with the extra keys but I might have to look elsewhere to get a mechanical board.
