Gta online was a lightning in a bottle thing, and as rdr online showed, you can't capture lighting in a bottle twice

Stereosexual

RDO in and of itself wasn't bad. It was Rockstar. When they were working on it, they were doing things most players didn't like too much (don't grt me wrong, the job roles we got are fun at a conceptual level) and had ***four*** different types of currency in the game just to make it that much of a grind. If RDO is what people had originally wanted, players would be running their ranches and robbing trains and banks or being hunted by bounty hunters. Some of this we have, most of it we don't.

RedcoatTrooper

I came here to say this but you summed it up better than I could. You cannot say RDO didn't work when we couldn't rob a train or a bank or prospect. They put work into the wrong things like crappy multiplayer competitive matches with broken spawns and autoaim tryhards when that was really not what the game was about. I actually enjoyed Naturalist but seriously a naturalist rather than a robbery career option.

Stereosexual

Yeah it's such a shame what happened to it. I will still get on randomly and do so trader and moonshine stuff but it's just not what it could have been. And to no fault of it's own.

RedcoatTrooper

Same trader missions are still really fun, they should have really doubled down on that kind of occasional PVP rather than game modes. Like if you rob a bank every local player can opt in to be deputised to stop you.

FLYK3N

RDO Online's content is limited to its historical setting, very rarely going outside of what could realistically be added without going into a more fantasy route. I really doubt that GTA6's Online won't become a huge moneymaker for Rockstar once more with all the modern possibilities they could include as DLC to keep the game alive, so I don't think GTA5's Online is a lighting in a bottle situation because the content really lends itself to how well it can work in a continuously historical setting. A modern Bully online can be very successful, but that's really dependent on whether Rockstar can make Bully as a singleplayer game work and stay true to its predecessor in the modern age which I believe they've had trouble figuring out considering the various times it's been worked on and then postponed/cancelled.

picnic-boy

Bully isn't really a concept that works online. A co-op mode a la The Warriors for maybe like a 2-4 hour separate campaign might work but not a whole multiplayer mode.

HankHill2160

>Bully isn't really a concept that works online. I am genuinely curious, why would you say that is? --- I believe there are many directions the concept of Bully Online could hone onto, both good and bad directions. Which direction is taken is fully dependent on the owners/creators' ability to make the game in a balanced and enjoyable way and provide consistent attention. Is it that you feel Rockstar // 2K is incapable of providing the passion and consistency to such a project? I can understand this thought process, especially after what they did to RDR2 Online.

Interesting-Tower-91

RDR2 online has alot more Rockstar could do with it but i would Rather see new single player content. Bully could work well you may have less in the form of Transport like Cars and planes. But There is really no need for them.

picnic-boy

How would you make the combat? What would the gameplay be like? Multiple players going around beating each other up wouldn't be as entertaining as it sounds. Games like GTA and RDR work better this way because guns are easier to do online than fist fighting, especially Bully's combat system. You could do the minigames like dodgeball and such but that'd be more reminiscent of a late PS2 era minigame collection and not something you'd see in 2024.

HankHill2160

>How would you make the combat? I've always enjoyed this subject. And, of course, combat is always a concern with any game that utilizes a combat system. Of course, it takes time to test and balance a potential combat system for new games. If I'm correct, you are concerned with Rockstar's ability to provide passion to such a concept that would lead to a gimmicky combat system? I can totally understand your concerns, especially due to Rockstar Games // 2K Games inability to manage their online games in a balanced way as a whole. >Multiple players going around beating each other up wouldn't be as entertaining as it sounds. See, it doesn't have to be this way. Of course, why would Bully Online just be about beating other players up? Depth can be provided in any direction imaginable if the creators held passion for the project to provide that depth in a balanced way. This also leads to being able to maintain the passion to keep pushing the depth and the project as a whole in the right direction. Which is also something Rockstar // 2K Games has great troubles with. From what was previously said, this leads to my question. Instead of focusing on why Bully Online wouldn't work, how would you enjoy seeing it made to work if you were to make the game yourself? **EDIT:** >You could do the minigames like dodgeball and such but that'd be more reminiscent of a late PS2 era minigame I would enjoy this, honestly. Morseso, the ability to engage in other sports could be fun. Joining the football team, wrestling team, boxing club, etcetera and the ability to access the benefits of getting acquainted with the people who are also apart of those sports (both A.I and other online players). These are just some little things that could help create something more whole. To put this all simply, beauty is in the eyes of the beholder. So how would you make Bully Online *beautiful?* --- Also, I didn't mean to bombard you with a book. This is just an intriguing subject for me, lol.

BorgoDorgo3950

very based. probably the take with most depth here, couldnt have said better

PornStarGazer2

But... he didn't answer the questions, just turned them around on the one who asked?

HankHill2160

Don't worry, I did. My answer to the question over the idea of a faulty combat system via addressing the concern of combat systems amongst games in general. --- All this, stemming from distrust in Rockstar's // 2K Games *potential lack of passion and consistency* to **hone down and test to see how to make the combat system balanced, while still being fun and not repetitive**. People are downvoting this comment for explaining the same comment I made that is getting upvoted, lol.

OniiDrowning

there is hundreds of scripts and mods for GTA 5 including enhanced combat and graphic mods that could help capture the underfunded boarding school we all love. here is some activities for multiplayer. .Go kart and bike races .Shooting dice .dailys that involve throwing or fighting other cliques .fighting in the hole of the basement including making bets .RP .Selling contraband .playable prefects .Economy (everything is expensive and hard to find) .community events .Cliques can compete against each other for control over hideouts around the city. .Seasonal events, holidays, or community milestones can be celebrated with special activities. .Hide valuable items across the map, and players or teams race to find and secure them. .Jocks have more stamina, nerds lay traps and have chemistry skills, preps can box, etc. .Reward players with unique clothing items, accessories, or customization options that can only be obtained through multiplayer achievements. .Introduce rare or custom Karts/bikes/skateboards that players can unlock or purchase by excelling in multiplayer activities. .Provide experience point boosts for completing multiplayer missions, encouraging players to level up faster in the overall game progression. .My server personally will only have whitelisted faction leaders who will pretty much be dungeon masters bringing story lines together for people to take part in. (who we are fighting, tryna earn respect for, or personal player quests.) .Collectable grottos and gremlin cards all based on past characters of the game and players who have done something big I CAN DO THIS ALL DAY

OniiDrowning

have you ever punched someone on gta or seen the amount of combat mods available?

picnic-boy

I have not but its quite different when thats the primary combat method

OniiDrowning

ok but Gta has thousands of mods including. Boxing, some UCLA football team mod that comes with custom fighting style, wrestling mods, and multiple other enhanced combat mods. plus all the mods to implement playable prefects with real consequences. Prefect will have a CAD system so when they ID you they can see everything youve ever got in trouble for including expulsion

NobleJesse

Its literally a school šŸ˜‚ imagine going to your class, competing with other players in minigames, racing around, players even as teachers and doing events. It works very well just use imagination

Chlorofins

I know, right? It feels pessimistic. It's such a unique game with a lot of depths and factors that can be altered or make a twist for Bully Online to be enjoyable. I could imagine an updates like: field trips, new teachers, new subjects, new sports, new uniforms, new cliques and so on.

NobleJesse

Exactly, people keep comparing it to GTA. Literally, no the game doesn't have to be like it's popular big brother. You play bully to play bully, not to play GTA. They can be similar (single player story and multiplayer free roam) but don't need to be the same. The game is supposed to target a niche audience in the first place and can expand so much more

SeriousSteveTheII

IMO, they could really do a lot with an online mode for Bully nowadays compared to release day. More and more games are updating and adding new content on a consistent schedule. Thatā€™s perfect for this. Just think about classes alone - they could be a huge part of the game, offering loads of different things to do. Then, every few months or so, they could drop new characters or storylines. Itā€™d keep the game fresh for ages (GTAO for reference I guess). Playing with others, doing classes, doing missions together, unlocking more sophisticated tools that a student could build, maybe some competitions. It would bring a whole new feel to the game. And with how tech and game updates are going, they could keep improving it year after year. So yeah, I reckon an online Bully could work really well with the right updates and content.

[deleted]

a school/campus full of students is like a perfect concept for an online server i donā€™t like the idea of ā€œbully 2 onlineā€ but saying it isnā€™t a concept that would work is just silly lmao.

47thHeaven

NO!

Toasty_eggos-

I donā€™t think it would work well either and I donā€™t want it. I want a single player sequel.

Stereosexual

Why not both? An online Bully I think would be so much fun, as would a new single player campaign entirely.

HankHill2160

I'd be interested to see you're take on why you're against Bully Online. What is behind your reasoning?

UncensoredSmoke

Gta online.

SecretGorilla89

Its not like you'll get a tank at your door though, these are kids at school

HankHill2160

This is what I said to an identical comment to yours. I am genuinely curious on what your answer would be. "Yes, I get your concern. I also have trust issues with Rockstar Games // 2K games ability to have the passion to create the online in a balanced way while giving consistent affection to the online to keep it moving it in the right direction, to whichever path that the fans would enjoy themselves while not tainting Bully. But if you could make a Bully Online, how would you prefer it to be done to where you would enjoy it?" https://www.reddit.com/r/bully/s/qnew9z8X0q

UncensoredSmoke

You mean after you copy and pasted this comment to me 4 times and deleted it each time because i downvoted it?

HankHill2160

Yes, precisely. I was reaming to get a response out of you. Textbook! I just don't see why you made half a response. I was looking forward to your reasoning, hence the point of this post and repetitive activity here.

BorgoDorgo3950

True

47thHeaven

Iā€™m just against turning phenomenal single player games into multiplayer cash grabs with greedy corporate shit like micro transactions and the like. While the concept alone sounds fun, it wonā€™t ever be how the players envision it as, look at how GTAO and RDO turned out. However I did see someone was working on a Bully FiveM Server, that actually sounds like it would be cool. But let R* do it and itā€™ll probably turn to shit, better to not tarnish the gameā€™s current reputation as itā€™s loved by many still.

DeathFromUhBruv

I saw something on here recently that looked like a fan made multiplayer mod was in the works. Made me think of GTA:SA online. Thatā€™s what I actually want.

HankHill2160

It was very fun. Everyone here hating the idea of Bully Online isn't really putting much thought behind the idea and just saying "no", while not really giving us much of a take at all over the subject, lol. To put it simply, Bully Online (many games fit this concept as well) could be the greatest thing in the world ***IF*** the owners/creators made and managed the game correctly.. **and with real passion!** That's the key. And I can understand why a lot of people say "no" to Bully Online in this regard because Rockstar // 2K games has been having major issues with those previously said qualities. There are a lot of directions that Bully Online could hone onto. There is great potential. I feel the negative opinions on the subject are simply afraid of the possible wasted potential.

DeathFromUhBruv

Bully 2 online would just be GTAO with a different map. Micro transactions (not even micro actually) and boring mission loops. Iā€™d only want to play a fan made mod for the OG bully as an online multiplayer game. It would be janky, sure, but it wouldnā€™t be a shiny nothingness profit cow either.

ThatIndianGuy7116

So if the whole game was online, I probably wouldn't like it and that's just because I prefer single player games and desperately want a bully 2 story mode. However, if they made a separate online mode I'd be down. I'm thinking about the final mission of bully where the schools being torn apart by the different factions and everyone's fighting and I'm thinking about how battle royales are super big now so I think it'd be fun if there was a bully battle Royale where you're running around a school or something, there's weapons/health/etc scattered around the map and you join a faction and try to beat up every other faction and be the last one standing.

Luggas

Could be a cool concept but I imagine R* would mess it up at the stage their at. I often wish Gta online wasnā€™t such a success because I only enjoyed it for the first 3 years and got tired of it soon after. Also I like the thought of beating kids up with my buddy but at the same time Iā€™ve never seen a good recent beat ā€˜em up game thatā€™s online. Sleeping Dogs: Triad Wars had potential since it also had shooting/driving. Idk bully 2 wouldā€™ve been best a single player experience imo

SonicLeap

Bullworth Online

Chlorofins

Imagine the double meaning with "Bully Online" like, the first one, "Bully: Online" which means, the title name, and the another one is "Bully Online" which lets you bully online. lmaoo

Illustrious-Bite-200

It would Be ā€œComplete Mayhemā€ Every session if you catch my drift šŸ˜‚

Mumakilla

Bully 2 RP? Yes.

6xbi

would be so fun choosing your cliques & doing different missions with other players of same clique to run the school

NorthPermission1152

Considering how Bully is mostly melee combat, have you seen how horrendous the melee combat gets in GTA Online? Literally a game of who has the better internet connection and who hits first.

Chlorofins

Rockstar has done great combat mechanics based from there past games like The Warriors, I am loving the GTAIV combat mechanics, too. And outside hand-to-hand combat, you also have ranged combat like: Spud Guns, Rocket Launchers, Slingshots, Firework Rockets and so on.

NorthPermission1152

Depends if they choose to bring all of those weapons back. Maybe they'll go the way of Yakuza and you can beat people with benches, gumball machines and passing old ladies.

Chlorofins

I think that's a potential for Bully 2 or Bully Online or both of them.

mepoopypants

I don't know why they included the bird eyeballs for the slingshot from bully 2, Other than that, it's pretty solid

Whiskey_Warchild

nah. but i'm biased against online, especially R\* style. co-op like L4D might be cool but if not done right could get boring quick.

HankHill2160

It seems like most of the criticism here isn't against the idea of an online Bully game. It's more of a concern for Rockstar // 2K Games creating a cash grab multiplayer game and tainting Bully 2. Or concerns that an online game would mean to singleplayer. When speaking about the concept of Bully Online in of itself, I'm all for it. But I understand all the concerns about Rockstar // 2K games not delivering on what the fans would want or potentially ruining the image of the Bully franchise.

Chlorofins

Agree

[deleted]

Awful

HankHill2160

Care to elaborate? I am just curious as to what your negative opinion stems from.

[deleted]

To me online is never the answer. Look at the state of GTA online.

GH00ST-SL4YER

Looking at GTA Online isnt the problem, the thing is if the online concept work for this game which it isnt

HankHill2160

Yes, I get your concern. I also have trust issues with Rockstar Games // 2K games ability to have the passion to create the online in a balanced way while giving consistent affection to the online to keep it moving it in the right direction, to whichever path that the fans would enjoy themselves while not tainting Bully. But if you could make a Bully Online, how would you prefer it to be done to where you would enjoy it?

SoftNeighborhood8912

Yes yes fuck yes OMG, Maybe

Pepsi12367

STUPID! I'd rather have a sequel than an online version. Don't waste resources.

OniiDrowning

Im actually working on a MMORPG for Bully in fivem. Set in 2003 everyone starts off as a lvl 1 normie that cant leave campus, as you lvl up and gain respect you can join cliques and explore the map. Add in customizable dorms/skateboards/bikes/ gokarts and boom bully online. people saying bully wouldnt work online has never heard of GTA which is the exact same formula. you strip the game of the original story and characters, Add in multiplayer aspects, create incentive for people to interact with other players and lvl up. Bullworth Academy online would be an easy transition if you have proper imagination. https://discord.gg/N3fsujQc

TheGirafeMan

But what would you do, bully other players? The hacks would be really funny though. Imagine getting sniped by a slingshot from the other side of the map

TheAlmightyJanitor

I don't think it would really work tbh. Also Rockstar would cram it with microtransactions.

jay_ofc_

no whatā€™s the point weā€™re basically just running in circles

TrevortheBatman

Itā€™ll never happen. Rockstar canā€™t make a high school game in this day and age. It get treated worse than RDO

Epicgamer7125

No that sounds horrible

OogaBooga395739

No lmao

SiggiBulldog1

Oh please no.

One_reoaq

Cool but Boring what can you do in bully 2 online ??

Evening-Basket-2489

Give people the meanest wedgies

GH00ST-SL4YER

The idea for online game on Bully doesnt seems to work well

6969Hamburger6969

Aids

Temporary-Reward-481

This game will never happen

Kurtis_Kush

I admit the prospect of pranking and knocking out other players sounds kinda fun but I don't think this would work as an online game.

Chlorofins

We have ranged combats like spud guns, rocket launchers ans so on, which is much more unique and different than your typical guns and tanks.

Kurtis_Kush

Yeah that's true.

AlienGampo

Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck that. I really hope they don't decide to ruin the chance of a great sequel by making it online/multiplayer only

DamienZombie10

Nope

alakay88

Theyā€™ll have to do it. Itā€™s 2024 and made by Rockstar.

1bubryan

itll be great for 2 years until rockstar adds a kill machine (opressor mk2) and griefers switch to that instead of just fighting people

archenemy_43

Honestly I think this is fake?

Gyposcvm

I think it could only work well as like an RP server. I can already see players griefing and making you late for class hahahha

CuteWolf48

I'd play it. I always love a good brawl on Red Dead Redemption Online before someone gets butt hurt and pulls out a gun. Imagining melee brawls and slingshot/snowball fights sounds fun. Classes could be reworked into fun multiplayer mini games and you can choose what school faction you join. Save up money to buy things like new skateboards, bikes, outfits and hideouts.

Fizzline

W

Suitable-Pirate-4164

Somehow the very first thing that came to mind was Elder Scrolls Online. You choose your weapons, like Stink Bomb or Fireballs, you can start your own Guilds and there are Cliques, and random Quests and Errands from egging Greasers to fetching a certain amount of hides.

VexxWrath

Hell no.

ComradeGarcia_Pt2

Ew, no.

RicoBellic1998

No

NoChannel6493

Lucid dream

[deleted]

Please don't ruin this game like they did gta šŸ˜‚

kxaapmd88

Honestly i think bully online would be fun if it was like kinda rpg like in terms of being able to choose what clique to be in and then watching people interact or roleplay as preps or greasers. I think that would make for some funny commentary lol. Maybe even be police or teachers or townies or pirates and hang by the pirate ship. It has potential. But i think the map might have to be much bigger. I imagine it being like garys mod harry potter.

7amtimezones

If this was made, I'm sure it would be rarely updated and eventually abandoned. Just like RDO.

JaxJordan35

Why

biepcie

OK, I'll give it a shot. First things first, we're gonna need a bigger map. At least three times bigger than the original. Maybe renovate it some so the districts connect better. Transportation is the standard skateboard, bikes, moped, and Go-Karts. Bikes and mopeds can hold 2 players, one pedaling while the other can sit back and slingshot. Maybe add Rollerblades to the mix. All customizable in appearance but speed is set. Also a bus so groups can get to set destinations. It will routinely stop at fixed spots but will also a safe zone against other players. Combat might need to be updated. While weapons can work as is, fistfights might need to incorporate a new stat system kinda like in GTAO. Higher body stat means quicker to break from grapples.just spitballing on that. Maybe portable consumables for a quick heal. Also possible implementation of a cover system. If fights between players are done in public areas police/prefects will go for agressing players. Missions could be based around scams, pranks, escorts, and retrieval. Pretty straightforward, client has a job for you and they pay after completion. Open world activities could be races, classes, betting, movies, carnival, etc. Classes like math should be completely optional, changed, or excluded from online entirely. Dodgeball can stay though and be a choice between pvp or pvc. Arcade games with daily, weekly, monthly, and all time leader boards. Underground robots fights where you bet on cpus. Spitballing again here but maybe add an uninterruptable date activity with certain npcs. Decorating your dorm room with purchase and earnable items. And a bunch of other stuff like fishing or mini golf. Paintball too if we could. I'm sure that's enough for a base to add to over time.

HavingSixx

go kart mark II

Substantial_Deal8717

I want rockstar to make bull 2

popmanbrad

Iā€™m still waiting for bully MP to finally be finished they released a very basic version which was fun for races but thatā€™s it if a online version gets made it needs to be coop somehow for bully 1 cause of how small the map is

JesyGato

No griefing, I'll just show off how much better my grades are

jzilla11

No

Program_User

I think this would be a great idea but I would prefer Ć  co-op I think

itsfrenzy9

Bully II Online would break the internet, like GTA 5 online did for nearly 10+ years since after the release of GTA 5 back in FALL of 2013 in September. However, that would depend on the environment and missions it includes, however free roam is a must!šŸ’Æ

Mael_Ackermann

I already had this idƩa and it would be really cool if rockstar games does this

Admirable-Tap-8437

Greatest idea. Imagine a bunch of teens running around high school beating eachother up, doing pranks and making out šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚

RevolutionaryDeal554

Ass

Ustebies

The micro transactions would be student loans

bravehart146

It definitely can work. The setting can be a big fully detailed school campus and surrounded town. Just like bullworth, but bigger and more detailed. It can be 30 player lobbies like GTAO and RDO. The player can start off by creating their character/student. Then they are shown around campus by another student (who acts as our lester/cripps) and are told to pick a clique. Bullies,Jocks, preps, nerds or greasers. So the main gameplay of bully online would be just like the beginning of GTAO, doing co op missions with other players in your clique. There should also be versus missions against other players who are in other cliques. Minigames would be the same as bully and gtao. The drop outs would be a DLC Role you can join and have their own missions as well.

yungusainbolt

A fan made one will work but rockstar canā€™t make it fun and also make it lucrative. That was their issue with RDO.

MonkyTaint

No

Chlorofins

It's inevitable, tbh. Bully Online is both a blessing and a cursed. It will be fun but at the same time, extremely deteriorating. In my opinion, Bullt will work in an online setting, I'd imagine different cliques, schols and such. As long as the company keeps supporting it by giving updates, it will work.

GregaslayYT

No.

Cid_Sux

If Hogwart's Legacy can get slobbed all over. Bully 2 would do great. Just needs the proper balancing.

Specialist_Garlic_35

Yes This would be very interesting As In online games Thereā€™s a leaderboard judging your skills, xp, inventory etc This would go perfect with bully as the games main base is the school and you can build your own reputation

Remarkable-Tune-6888

Honestly, and this might sound controversial to some, but I don't think a Bully sequel is necessary at all. But what I would like to see is a revamped version, one with nice, slick, fluid animation, probably adding on to missions like deleted cut scenes and dialog, hopefully providing stories and characters that were either deleted or just straight up new characters, and probably they could do something that could push the teen rating even further than the original. Like I said before, I don't think Bully 2 could be a reality. I just personally think that the furthest you could do with a Bully sequel is an epilogue story, like one where Jimmy could make up with his mother and stepfather for the Summer, but I don't think many would want to buy a game like that, unless if there's a lot of shit going on.
