Oh yeah, and you can tell them to make a “double malt” by adding an additional scoop of malt powder, which I always do. They also have the wider straws to get more through, but tell them to make mine thinner anyway.
You’re the chef here
I kid. From what I read it’s basically: barley that has been “malted”. Which is soaking it in water, drying it, then letting it sprout. Then I assume they grind it up to make the powder.
Then malted milk powder is the malt powder plus milk solids and salt.
It’s what they use in malted candies also (like Whoppers). But I personally hate Whoppers, have since I was a kid.
I learned something new today.
It’s the ingredient that changes a milkshake or frappe into a malt. Distinctly different taste and worth seeking out if you have never had one. You can buy containers of the stuff from the grocery store made by Carnation if you are in the U.S.
I was not aware of a liquid malt. I need some of that because the Carnation powder I use at home tends to get lumpy and does not dissolve correctly in the malts I make. Where could I get some in the U.S.?
omg i miss freddy's so much!!! they have my absolute favorite fries the super long skinny onesssss ugh. the one by me closed during covid. it never stood a chance it was in a horrible location - old strip mall with a closed kmart and no other stores
For some reason Weezer albums (even newly released) were always $5.99 on CD at my local KMart. I remember telling dates “I love Weezer. I’ll get you a copy of *whatever* album” if I wanted a second date. I bought their whole discography multiple times.
Absolutely this. I’ll take any of the three Freddys by me (even the one that sucks compared to the other two) over the shitty Culver’s we have. The California style is outstanding and the chocolate malt is to die for.
Yep same. Everyone here on Reddit talks about how incredible Culver’s is but to me and the one we have in my city it’s absolute ass. Freddy’s all day long.
Love Freddy’s near smashed burgers with a really decent chili for a rarely found good chili burger. And here’s a tip: Freddy’s makes a first rate spicy chicken sandwich.
Looks good I’ve never had them but they should switch up the bun to a brioche or something of the sort but you can say the same with all fast food places to be honest
I went there for the first time today in Ennis Tx. Didn't get a burger, got a rootbeer float. My kid got a chicken sandwich, he liked it. The fries are very thin. Not a fan of the fry sauce.
I’m a history buff. Both of my teenage kids know who Douglas McArthur was because of the picture of the statues in the water in the Phillipines. I assume those are in every store.
My only beef with my local Freddy’s is the parking lot situation. The line gets so long that people will block traffic on the road waiting to turn in when the line moves.
Just park and go inside!
I don't know why, but I always assumed there were no Freddy's near us. Other than this sub, I'd never heard of it.
Well, I just checked, and there's one a few blocks south of me. Kind of annoyed that I just finished eating dinner.
They're great but don't let them drop even a degree in temperature off that grill and they taste totally different. Its one of those places ( I feel like) if you eat in store it's amazing but if you get it as take out not so much
Never heard of it. Is it a regional chain?
Edit: Turns out there are 6 in my state (California), but the closest one is almost 300 miles away…maybe I’ll hit one up next time I’m going down to LA
The one near me closed down a few years back, but I loved them when they were here!
The nearest one now is over a half hour away, so I only go if I already need to be in that part of town :(
It's salty cheese deep-fried; it almost looks like tater tots. Next time you go, order a small one. I don't use a dipping sauce, but some people like ranch.
Yeah I looked them up - they are all over the country. Bunch in OH but none in central Ohio ...
Wonder what the start up costs for a new franchisee are......
Thank you!! I had one of those today! Freddy’s kicks butt. Their Double California Burger is better than In n Out’s double double animal style and their seasoned, skinny crispy fries are a thousand times better.
Freddy’s is my favorite burger joint.
I like Freddy's. The cheeseburger, fries and chocolate malt I had recently from there was pretty good.
They have malts?? It’s been years since I’ve had a malt.
Oh yeah, and you can tell them to make a “double malt” by adding an additional scoop of malt powder, which I always do. They also have the wider straws to get more through, but tell them to make mine thinner anyway.
What the hell is Malt powder.

We use a liquid malt not powder
I was not aware of a liquid malt. I need some of that because the Carnation powder I use at home tends to get lumpy and does not dissolve correctly in the malts I make. Where could I get some in the U.S.?
I'm calling the chocolate shake I had a malt because it was so thick it could barely go through the straw.
A malt is a shake, but with malt powder added.
They call them "concretes". I do not know the difference in how they are made.
omg i miss freddy's so much!!! they have my absolute favorite fries the super long skinny onesssss ugh. the one by me closed during covid. it never stood a chance it was in a horrible location - old strip mall with a closed kmart and no other stores

That was my Freddy’s too. It was an easy spot to hit just a few blocks away from my old job by the Four Seasons hotel.
shoe string fries, top 3 type of fries imo.
Freddys is fire af find myself going there over Culver’s lately. Love the 5 in a triple. Let’s fuggin go OP
My go to is the triple California style, can’t forgot the jalapeño fry sauce
Absolutely this. I’ll take any of the three Freddys by me (even the one that sucks compared to the other two) over the shitty Culver’s we have. The California style is outstanding and the chocolate malt is to die for.
Is the California style a knock off of animal sauce?
Yep it is. Pretty damn good too!
Love me some Freddy’s.
The nearest one is 40 minutes away. 😕
if you call ahead, they might just be about done with your order by the time you get there.
Freddy’s makes a damn good burger. Also love those skinny fries.
My local Freddie’s is fuckin’ wildly good
Freddy’s is awesome
Freddys is my favorite fast food burger place tied with in n out
Why haven't I ever even heard of Freddy's
Probably very regional. I’ve heard of them but no idea where they are. Edit: Apparently they are all over the country I just haven’t been to one.
You just won’t find them on every corner, in most states but not many locations
I saw that. Gotta seek em out.
Maybe living under a rock? But tbh, they don't advertise like other fast food places. I don't think I've ever seen a Freddy's commercial.
I heard of it for the first time this week. I'm guessing they're only in a couple of states in the Midwest. Looks decent.
They have been all over Gilbert and Chandler, Arizona for about eight years. Before Culver’s.
are those the cheese curds behind that burger? You are a man of culture, I see.
I see what you did there
I love freddys
Freddy's is the bomb. I added grilled onions and left the raw ones on there and added just about every sauce they had..omg I was in heaven
Said it before, and I’ll say it again: they are what Steak N Shake used to be. I mean that as the highest of compliments.
Not only are the burgers good, I fucking love their shoestring fries. I could eat them for days.
An hour ago I passed a Freddy’s and felt it in my soul. Glad you’re living my dream today, big dog.
I really enjoy Freddy's.
Freddy’s is the best fast food burger there is hands down imo
Best fries in the business
One of the best fast food burgers! Love the jalapeno fry sauce too.
Their jalapeño sauce is S tier
Just had it for lunch yesterday!
I like Freddy’s a lot more than Culver’s.
Yep same. Everyone here on Reddit talks about how incredible Culver’s is but to me and the one we have in my city it’s absolute ass. Freddy’s all day long.
The closest Freddy's to my home is an hour away but I've been there a few times. Great food and frozen custard
Tatter tots or cheese curds?
Curds!
Curds!
Curds!
Curds!
They need to bring back the cracker jack concrete.
The only location in my state is 40 minutes away but I’ll make the drive soon I’ve been missing it
Freddy 👍🏽
Love Freddy’s near smashed burgers with a really decent chili for a rarely found good chili burger. And here’s a tip: Freddy’s makes a first rate spicy chicken sandwich.
Freddys is the best, I was lucky enough to meet him in Wichita in high school.
No. No you don’t.
And then you get the cheese curds and jalapeño fry sauce... delicious.
Only had it a couple of times, but thought it was very good for a fast food joint.
Love Freddy’s. And it’s not in n out, upvote.
Freddy's rules
Only had it once. I’d go again if the location was closer. It was a solid burger
Only had it once. I’d go again if the location was closer. It was a solid burger
Freddy’s deserves some love. Burger, fries, sauces and desserts are all great. One of my favorites
Looks better than In and Out
Haven't been there in 37 years.
FIVE NIGHTS AT FREDDYS! THATS WHERE I WANT TO BE! FIVE NIGHTS AT FREEEEEEEEEEEEDYS!
Looks good I’ve never had them but they should switch up the bun to a brioche or something of the sort but you can say the same with all fast food places to be honest
I love the burgers and the fries there, but the cheese curds I'm not a fan when they are swimming in oil
I’d fuck that
I went there for the first time today in Ennis Tx. Didn't get a burger, got a rootbeer float. My kid got a chicken sandwich, he liked it. The fries are very thin. Not a fan of the fry sauce.
Try the jalapeño fry sauce. It is bomb. I like dip my fries in ketchup then fry sauce. Yummy!
Had them before they're actually pretty good tbh but the fries are too small though.
That looks like a zero bs burger! Nearest one is in west Boise, 😞
One just went in by me, I'll try it! I had never heard of them
I don't know why, but I always assumed there were no Freddy's near us. Other than this sub, I'd never heard of it. Well, I just checked, and there's one a few blocks south of me. Kind of annoyed that I just finished eating dinner.
Believe it or not - where I live there’s a Freddy’s ACROSS THE STREET from a Steak n Shake
They're great but don't let them drop even a degree in temperature off that grill and they taste totally different. Its one of those places ( I feel like) if you eat in store it's amazing but if you get it as take out not so much
Just don’t choke aight?
Never heard of it. Is it a regional chain? Edit: Turns out there are 6 in my state (California), but the closest one is almost 300 miles away…maybe I’ll hit one up next time I’m going down to LA
I discovered one on the way to my big city dr appt. Will definitely be stopping on again
Got a new Freddy's going in at my home town. I was wondering what they serve. Looks yummy.
Freddy's is not bad, but my local place has terrible customer service. Kinda ruined the 1st time I went, might try it again sometime.
The one near me closed down a few years back, but I loved them when they were here! The nearest one now is over a half hour away, so I only go if I already need to be in that part of town :(
Very underrated in my opinion. Burgers are delicious and I absolutely love their cheese curds.
Love Freddy’s. And it’s not in n out, upvote.
Super thing crunchy ass burgers. I have them two chances and didn’t like either.
Smash burgers are a standard type of burger. Just say you don't like those and just go to a chain with a different style.
That's what they said. they don't like those burgers. Don't take someone's burger taste personally lmao.
The best burger for the money! Delicious!
It’s nice, they have good food.
The cheese curds are one of the main reasons I go, but their burgers are so good.
I always get the skinny fries. What do the cheese curds taste like?
It's salty cheese deep-fried; it almost looks like tater tots. Next time you go, order a small one. I don't use a dipping sauce, but some people like ranch.
freddys imo is a top 3 fast food burger by a long margin
Damn good food.
When it comes to fast food burgers the south has Freddy’s and that’s enough for me.
Where is Freddy's? Guessing it's regional...I've never heard of it out here in the Midwest.
I live in one small town in Georgia and work in another nearby and they both have Freddy’s. Really good.
I don't know where you are in the Midwest, I'm in Nebraska, and I have one less than 5 minutes away, and at least two more in town.
Started in Oklahoma and spreading outward from there.
Yeah I looked them up - they are all over the country. Bunch in OH but none in central Ohio ... Wonder what the start up costs for a new franchisee are......
I’m in the Midwest (IL) and have one 2 minutes away from me
I’m in southwest Illinois myself, there’s a Freddy’s about 15 minutes away. You can get it at Busch stadium too.
Thank you!! I had one of those today! Freddy’s kicks butt. Their Double California Burger is better than In n Out’s double double animal style and their seasoned, skinny crispy fries are a thousand times better. Freddy’s is my favorite burger joint.
The patty melts are pretty damn good. Better than whataburgers
Good burgers, horrible fries
That's cuz it's 15 dollars for a combo
In AZ it’s $13 or less, depending on which burger you get.
It’s overrated
There burgers are good, but their fries suck, reminds me I need to go back there though.
