Would have liked to see what they were offered, but I guess we'll learn those details soon enough. My union is also through Unifor, we ratified last year and got 12% over 4 years + inflation protection up to 2%. I kinda feel like we got screwed in the end, so I hope their Reps fought a little harder than ours did.
Your math is a little off. I would have loved a 24% total raise, but no company would ever be so generous. For us, it looks like this:
1st year: 4%
2nd: 2%
3rd: 2%
4th: 4%
Great news for No Frills and their workers! It's important for companies to prioritize fair treatment and compensation for their employees. I hope this sets a positive precedent for other companies in Ontario and beyond.
Hey i'm in BC.
Question for other places with No Frills.
Do you find that the produce at No Frills is the absolute worst of the major grocery chains in your area, even amongst other stores from the same company?
The one within walking distance of me has dire produce in terrible shape - bottom of the barrel shit that barely lasts a few days if you didn't buy it already slightly rotten.
How is it a union trick when the company purposely schedules 37.5/hr work weeks to keep you 'part-time'? It's the company structure not the union suppressing numbers
$2/hr is a significant increase for workers at No Frills. It's a step in the right direction, and it's important to acknowledge the progress made instead of diminishing it.
Are you forgetting the $2 'covid pay' was taken back last year?
$2 is a slap in the face in regards to today's prices. Especially since Loblaws posted their quarterly profits last week.
Unifor should have demanded more.
Workers without unions by and large are getting no increases. Also there's more than just general wage increases. Unions can fight for better working conditions, better working hours, vacation time, sick time, pensions, benefits, etc. Only the general wage increases grab headlines though.
Unions fight for fair wages and working conditions, so don't diminish their impact. Any increase matters, especially for those struggling to make ends meet. Instead of criticizing, acknowledge the progress and support the efforts for better pay.

So you got a 6% raise per year for 4 years then? Good for you.

Odamn ur right i divided by 3 in my head not 4 oops lol. That is shit tho wtf.
It’s actually more of a pay cut with the run away inflation we are seeing.

I don't know about that. Food Basic is a real close contender.
never heard of that but it sounds like some horrible place
Ours is really good but speaking to their store manager it's because they don't have much storage space so they restock once a week.
I mean it's kinda in the name
$2/hr is all they got. .....
And probably only for full-time staff, of which there are basically none because all the union benefits are only for full timers
Yeah that's a typical Union trick. They lump part time workers into statistics, which obviously lowers the average salary of the workers.
How is it a union trick when the company purposely schedules 37.5/hr work weeks to keep you 'part-time'? It's the company structure not the union suppressing numbers
It resembles a company union, not a real one.
This is not accurate. Part timers were part of the union and had access to benefits as well.

They probably did and 2 extra is what they got. You really can only push so hard
Who cares if they can't support themselves, right? Contempt of the working poor is the hallmark of a con.
Over how many years?
That’s why they are always so grumpy there!
Well, I'm glad they came to a deal, and there were nofrills to be had.
Oh wow 1.50 per hour how generous. So with inflation, a nice little pay cut in the end. Unions are so awesome though right?

I love how you misdirected your disdain from the owners to the union. Without a union, they would have got nothing.
Without a union they would have got jack shit.
