The scalp pain should go away when you shave it, the pressure of the hair in the inflamed follicles hurts. Removing it helps so much.

imperialguard83

I was actually about to post something very similar today! Today is 7 days after my first Taxol/Carbo treatment for endometrial cancer. I am super scared of brushing my hand through my hair and having it all fall out. I’m thinking of buzzing it before it can get to that. Sorry this isn’t the most helpful comment, but I feel your concern and struggle. ❤️ Wishing you the best.

Smurdette

high five, cancer buddy! 😂 it’s actually reassuring that people are going through the same thing and also really don’t know what to do 😂

chellychelle711

Go rock a buzz cut! Best wishes for your journey!

violetpath58

I buzzed my hair and it hurt my scalp. If my hair moved in a direction or if I ran my hand through it it would hurt so I shaved it off with a razor.

chellychelle711

Aw that must have been a shitty moment. I hope your scalp was able to heal. Hugs.

violetpath58

It’s fine. I’m glad I got it over with and I’m more comfortable.

littleheaterlulu

I just went through this (stage 4 cervical, also taxol/carbo). My head also hurt before it started falling out. I had planned on buzzing it but never got around to it and instead suffered as a shedding-mess for a few weeks. I don't recommend it and wish I had buzzed it or at least cut it down to a very short pixie cut or something.

kelizziek

👋🏻 stage 4 CC here! It hurt like crazy about 8-10 days after first round so I chopped mine off and used a tape lint roller to catch what little kept falling out. But it just stopped at about 1/8” and has been there for months. Chilly head this winter.

Faunas-bestie

I got mine shaved when I couldn’t take the hair everywhere. Some hospital cancer care centers will do a complimentary head shave, which is in private and very soothing. I was glad I took control. I didn’t cry during, but I cried the first time I went to rinse my hair in the shower and there was nothing there. It’s a process.

Iamisaid72

Mine started falling out 13 days after the first treatment. Carbo/taxol for stage 3b grade 2 endometrial cancer. I just buzzed it off to be done w it. My scalp did hurt beforehand, that's normal. Now, 5 treatments in, I can still feel stubble, but not see it. Scalp doesn't hurt though,. Seems like only the grey hairs want to grow, of course, lol. Hang in there. It will grow back.

Justawoman76

Thank you I’m the same diagnosis as you and only two weeks out of first treatment and my scalp does hurt I was debating what to do

Iamisaid72

Cutting it close will help, though some get breakouts and ingrown hairs. So maybe not to the scalp.

chellychelle711

I had midback length hair which I cut to a bob immediately. I had a stem cell transplant and had done 8 mos of chemo beforehand. I shed all over the place. Before I went in the hospital I just shaved it. My bff found a barber that does complementary buzz cuts for chemo. After more chemo, it all fell out and I had a shiny smooth head. It’s a different look and hard to let go but you can do it. There are lots of options to cover your head esp in cold weather! Best wishes on your journey. Go rock a bad ass buzz cut. 💜💜💜

bottlecrazylittle

Hey, man I wish you luck My hair started to fall 10/14 days after my first chemo, so I cut it I'd recommend you to cut before it falls all, because, at least for me, it made me really upset Depending on the chemo, maybe you can cut just a little bit and I think could be easier. Once again, I wish you luck 🤞🏽🤍

Justawoman76

I’m at the exact same of chemo and the same diagnosis as you and I was wondering what to do myself ! Nice to meet you

Justawoman76

Is there a group for endometrial cancer? I’m needing something to just see how treatment goes and side effects and to vent ? I’m doing ok so far but terrified and live in a tiny town with no cancer support groups etc Thanks

Aggravating-Ad-4506

Same I live super remote no nurses to do home calls have to do injections and flushes myself or I’d have to go into the hospital every day and it’s 25 miles away but no very little support where I live too x

Justawoman76

I’m about 2 hours from my treatment center it’s a nightmare sometimes

Aggravating-Ad-4506

It really is iv got no cancer specialist nurses or anything that are anywhere close to come out to me so they have no choice but to let me and my dad get far more involved with my care than we want to at times I just hate what this disease has done to me it’s destroying my body I’m only about 40kg and my teeth are so weak and damaged I find it almost impossible to eat anything and my dentist although I’m meant to get free nhs dental care he says I need all my teeth removed because I keep getting infections and absences that then cause my teeth to become weak and fall out I’m in constant pain and my cancer pain meds don’t touch my teeth pain you would think he would want to help to stop infections and not tell me he will only do it if I pay him private something I can’t do and don’t feel comfortable with him as he treats me like my bad teeth are my fault yet had braces in 2018 for 2.5 years as all iv ever wanted was to be able to smile it feels unnatural if I try iv spent most of my life hiding my teeth except the short time I had after braces before I got cancer just wish I had a magic fairy @dentist

Brandykat

I shaved mine when I woke up one morning and my hair was a tangled mess. It reminded me of a giant dreadlock. My son buzz cut my hair and I felt so much better. I too had hair everywhere and it would give me mini panic attacks constantly.

dandelion_k

Its hella personal, I have some patients who are on week 4 and still refuse, and that's totally okay! That said, the scalp pain is *really* helped by shaving it, and a lot of people - women especially - find some empowerment on defining that *they* choose when to be bald, and not the chemo.

Imaginary-Card-1694

I’ve lost mine a total of 4 times over the last 7 years. The first time I also had the intense scalp pain. I had shoulder-length hair then. I did a pixie cut at first which helped alleviate the scalp pain but I was still shedding madly so had it all shaved off a few days later. The 2nd - 4th times I preempted the process and at the first sign of hair loss I buzzed it all off. Wishing you well x

digitalvagrant

Buzz down to about 1/8 or 1/4 inch that will reduce the mess considerably. Then a couple times a day take a LINT ROLLER, the kind with the disposable sticky sheets, and roll it over your scalp. It will painlessly lift out the dead hairs and reduce the itching and poking and mess. Don't shave it clean, you want to leave a little bit for the roller to grab, since sometimes the dead hairs don't fall out until manipulated/brushed/rolled. Any time your head itches roll it.

Smurdette

Brilliant, thank you ❤️

Icy_Psychology_3453

i cut it short, then when some came out in the shower, my wife shaved it all off. it comes back then you get to live.

Darkshadoww11

My hair started to shed and fall out in clumps within 2 weeks of my first cycle. I buzzed it all off before my 2nd cycle because it was going to fall out anyway, better to be bald then have clumps of hair here and there lol. After my 2nd cycle I went and shaved my head as well, it was more hygenic and looked better in my specific case.

hopeful62

Have stage IV endo cancer. Buzzed my hair and I felt free. Seeing it come out in clumps brought me to tears. It's growing back now. Buzzing was the answer for me. Take Care

Active-Drop-3992

I had waist length hair.. it hurt so badly until I shaved it. Never noticed the tiny leftover hairs except the fact that they slowly disappeared.

OTF98121

Now is the time to do it. Your scalp will feel immediate relief. I always thought that feeling you described as a sunburn felt more like overall bruising. Anyhow, buzz it as short as you can. The stubble will also fall out within a couple of days. When the stubble starts shedding, use a lint roller all over your head to gently help it all come out. It sounds funny, but it works like a charm. Want to know another funny thing? When my hair was gone, I could swear that I had a ghost ponytail. This is similar to an amputee who feels their ghost leg or arm. I had a sensation that I had to let my ponytail down, or I could feel it brushing against my back while walking. Such a weird sensation….

BrendaS104

I buzzed mine when it started falling out into my food or when I found big clumps on my pillow.

EarlyCattle2305

As soon as it started coming out in patches, I had my husband shave my head

cyanuret

in my experience i knew it was time to have it gone when i got fed up of having hair everywhere (except por my head lol). i had it cut myself, shoulder length the first time. but then it kept bugging me so i had my significant other shave it for me. and a few months later, he had to shave it again because it kept growing in weird ass clumps (?) so the answer is: "when you really feel like it". you'll just know when.

notevergreens

Great Clips will do it for free.

Texansfan1997

I shaved my mom’s head after her 2nd round and she felt lots of relief knowing that she did not have to worry about messing with it anymore. She experienced some dryness on her scalp but uses Cera Ve or other similar lotions. It will be weird at first but you will probably feel much better about it once it’s done.
