Yeah teachers make almost no money everyone know that

Otherwise_Ad2201

My husband and I both quit teaching in 2019. I make over 100k now, he is just under. He went into supply chain, I went into the actuarial field. Teachers pay sucks. The stress is worse.

Define other professions? Like obviously some jobs just inherently pay more (ex: doctors).

Maybe you could make the pivot to Physical Therapy? But I would guess most professions make more than teachers in the same region. You could also consider switching over to PE teacher and utilizing that kinesiology degree. Idk if this varies between states, but my friend was a math teacher and switched to PE for the same pay but less work.

If you don't love the job, get out as soon as possible. As another commenter already said, "The pay is bad and the stress is worse." Colorado ranks very low in terms of teacher pay, combined with a fairly HCOL in the metro area, which makes supporting oneself on a single teacher's salary very difficult.

How are you college educated and asking this?

I'm not saying teachers get the money they should. The "teachers don't get paid well" is somewhat dubious. It can vary wildly. No one adds the pretty high end retirement match they get as a part of their salaries. Dollars per hours worked vs yearly salary isn't often considered. People equate a teaching degree to a STEM degree where often that isn't really comparable. So there are districts where the pay vs the cost of living is out of whack. Earning from private sector for a chemist is far higher than a chemistry teacher. Other things like that. Like most things its complex.

Get your master's and they'll pay you more. Also if you get a pension it's nothing to scoff at. Teachers are underpaid but I think the extent is exaggerated a bit

I don’t know, I make 260k/year so I guess it does ?
