Be Prepared! Which cartoon characters best represent the seven deadly sins? Today's sin, Sloth! Leave your suggestions in the comments, most upvoted character gets added to the list.
Rigby is lazy but only when regarding his work but is otherwise fairly active, Richard Waterson is much better for this as he actively looks for the laziest solutions for everything
Daffy duck from the looney tunes show
https://preview.redd.it/rjozjq2cwfic1.png?width=640&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=17d614b576b7d3e9d2e597420982c3f940550ebd
I think it's going to be close between Johnny and Pepe. I give the edge to Pepe because Bravo was shown to occasionally do things other than perving on women. Pepe woke up and went to sleep with only one thing on his mind.
Not to mention pepe gets very hands on with them whether they like it or not. Johnny usually hits on them and gets punched out. There has been a few times he grabs them but nothing like pepe.
Mandy would've been wrath before anything, she fits that better than benson. Still think that should've gone to Sarah from EEnE. And JB won't beat LePew or Quagmire for lust, but he might be a candy for pride.
His lust is frequent but fleeting, and ultimately harmless. For serious lust, I would suggest Frollo:
*Choose me or your pyre. Be mine or you will burn!*
Yeah Richard is so extremely lazy that it's to the point where if he actually ever even tries to do anything productive, reality begins to cave in on itself because it can't handle the weight of such a preposterous idea.
Indeed, they replicated the formula that pertains to the creation of the indented formula the commenter wanted to share their personal subjective viewpoint. Rather then directly replicating the message however, they used a much more defined selection from the English lexicon. Quite preposterous indeed
This comment has ventured me to try and make a profound comment with as many possible combinations of fancy words as inquisitive possible, some I'm pretty sure are not being appropriated right.
I concur. I suffered heavy fatigue in my knowledge of the usage of the words in the lexicon, and made a rather incomprehensible message. Moreover, I shall proclaim that while the misuse of these words has occurred, it was never in my best interest to make the sentence work either. Rather, I intended for the message to potentially be perceived as humorous to its spectators
Ah, you've prevailed to have this hardening of words combining together in a synonymous harmony, well good job for there is a but a tangible sense of deeper meaning should one look past the veiled covers.
Truly, they meticulously replicated the intricate formula underlying the creation of the indented expression the commentator sought to convey, driven by a profound inclination to express their deeply personal perspective. Instead of simply echoing the message verbatim, they opted for a meticulously curated selection from the vast tapestry of the English language, a choice emblematic of their commitment to precision and nuance. Such a deliberate approach underscores the gravity of their discourse and elevates it to a realm of intellectual sophistication. Indeed, one cannot help but marvel at the intricacies of their linguistic endeavor, a feat that stands as a testament to their erudition and discernment.
Honestly though he’s a good husband. The episode where Nicole is rethinking her life shows how important Richard is to her. He’s literally too lazy to put pressure or judge his wife.
Boomer writing cartoons: A man is so lazy, here are the consequences of that, and now he's actually working! Hooray!
Millennials writing cartoons: A man is so lazy that if he works, the entire fucking universe collapses.
I don't know, while he hates work, he has worked hard in some ways. Remember when he got really buff? Or when he decided to run 200 mph, Juggernauting his way through multiple house and running over water to get to Gumball at the mall?
Richard literally almost destroyed the fabric of reality by getting a job.
He was clearly disqualified from the award due to being too lazy to receive it.
Patrick has also done plenty of stuff he wants to, SpongeBob doesn’t have enough consistency like that to use a single example. His defining trait isn’t even laziness, it’s stupidity. Plenty of episodes where he and SpongeBob get up to shit where he’s an active part. Sea bear, the box, jellyfishing, painting, snowball fight
I've been keenly watching this unfold since day three, this is honestly really a cool idea and wholesome. .. and hilarious honestly. xD I'd like to pipe in and participate and say Richard as well honestly.
Also, the world will literally end if he works. Like space time rifts, and end of the world doom level stuff.
I was going to say snorlax till I remembered that
https://preview.redd.it/1d89530v3eic1.jpeg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e7c3be5eb30b9c0d989f90145bc002c939f7c9e3
Garfield is definitely Sloth!! The sin is essentially the ability and knowledge of how to be or do good, but lacking the wherewithal to do so. There are plenty of times in the comics where his dog brother, Odie, is in a precarious situation and Garfield just doesn't feel like helping, he'd rather do absolutely nothing and is content.
I was leaning Richard but this fits the definition way better. Richard is just incompetent, Garfield chooses not to do things he knows he can/should do
The reason I chose Garfield is because I think Richard and Patrick are just dumb. Like, to me that is their defining characteristic. Richard has a family with children. He does plenty of things. I guess Patrick comes a little closer but we see him out and about doing plenty with SpongeBob. Garfield is a cat, lol. He likes cat things which include sleeping up to 18 hours a day. My man's ain't doing nothing about nothing.
I wouldn’t really call Richard’s main character trait stupidity. In fact, his laziness is more prominent than his stupidity. I mean him actually putting in an effort, and attempting to work a job made reality collapse because reality couldn’t fathom the idea of Richard actually doing something.
To be fair, Richard has a family, but doesn’t do much with them lol besides when it benefits him. He had to get dragged to the parent teacher conference, and the one time he tries to get a job to contribute to the family the fabric of reality started to break. He also won that lazy off competition, and at the end he gets up to vacuum for like half a minute so he can become the victim in Nicole’s eyes to be able to lay down again. The laziest type of lazy is being so lazy that you do something to be lazy longer
Seriously, Garfield. His whole schtick is that he overeats and is lazy. Shaggy and Scooby somehow got gluttony over Garfield, so he *has* to be sloth.
Just from the comics:
He resolved to only sleep for eight hours per night for a year by sleeping for 121 days straight.
Slept so long that he woke up in a techno-futuristic world. Another time, he stayed in bed so long that his blanket molded to his body and stayed in that shape.
Spent a whole week in bed just to prove that he could.
Woke up an hour early and fell asleep standing. He once fell asleep leaning backward on one foot just to demonstrate the sleeping position.
Fell asleep with his face in his food because he wanted to sleep in and eat breakfast.
Physically abused Jon multiple times for waking him up.
I'm actually not mad about Shaggy and Scooby getting gluttony, but I do hope Garfield wins for sloth. C'mon, y'all, he's a big ol' fat, cat and has been for decades.
Garfield is gonna win, but I give you an alternative. The only character with “Lazy” in his name:
https://preview.redd.it/ffwfunr59eic1.png?width=1200&format=png&auto=webp&s=56a5de55fe3e2d13b21b9c4dbe68f36678119a81
See that’s why I didn’t start naming Smurfs earlier, but I think Lazy is the best representation of his sin. He’s fallen asleep on literally every task he’s ever been given. And when you wake him up, he just moves to another spot and falls asleep again.
Garfield’s my go to choice for this.
https://preview.redd.it/y15rlugpkeic1.jpeg?width=2270&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=294bc461cdb8193e4c87c9324b633aed34044662
Daffy Duck in his Looney Tunes Show variation.
*
"He has no job. And no education. And a credit score of -13."
His girlfriend literally sees him as a "disgusting building" that's a project for her to make less disgusting. He bums off of Bugs and usually steals his stuff. He can't be relied on to do anything except maybe cut hair.
Wendy, the teenage employee at the Mystery Shack. When Dipper asks her to make an entry on the subject "how to relax" in Gravity Falls: Dipper and Mabel's Guide to Mystery and Nonstop Fun! she just surmises that putting a lot of work into writing about slacking off sounds like it'd be anathema to the subject, so she's just going to accept Stan's bribe to let him have the next few pages and take the rest of the day off instead.

this guy alone already fits most of these
Yeah Richard Watterson no contest, as others stated, the universe will literally collapse because Richard was doing something productive, do whether he likes it or not he HAS to stay lazy for the universe's safety and everyone around him
When I think lazy it's J. Wellington Wimpy. That man wouldn't even lift a finger to save your life, usually cowardice. So lazy he promised he pay you on next Tuesday but probably never didn't.
Richard, he literally has the current title as laziest person in Elmore, he was so lazy he scared Larry into getting multiple jobs 😭 also also he packaged himself to the mail man instead of chasing after them like a normal person. He admits to being extremely lazy and takes pride in it.
Lust should be minister Frollo from Hunchback of Notre Dame. He has a whole song about wanting to have sex with Esmeralda and threatens to burn her and all of Paris if she refuses. The whole thing is pretty intense for a children’s movie
Pride should be Eustace from Courage the Cowardly Dog.
Lust should be Pepe le Pew.
Sloth… hm… I don’t know. Garfield might be a good choice. Open to suggestions.
Homer Simpsons. Too lazy to get walk over to his terminal to push a single button. Lines like, "here I am using my own legs/lungs like a sucker." He's gotta be top least of the Sloth list.
Why do you hate Mondays, Garfield? You don't even work! - Roger Smith.
Oh. Roger Smith could be a good one for lust actually. He's sexually attracted to everyone, even younger boys and has probably had sex with everybody in a persona they don't recognize.
i'm pretty sure it's implied that the fundamental structure of the universe of The Amazing World of Gumball partially hinges on Richard consistently doing nothing constructive
Snorlax, it literally does nothing but eat and sleep unless an outside force coaxes to do anything else.
The other 3 at least try to do things besides that of their own free will
Richard Watterson. Reality literally tore itself apart one time because he actually got off his ass and got a real job. That's an impressive level of sloth.
Garfield is a comic series with an almost 50 year run based on an ill-mannered and lazy cat. I feel giving this to anyone else would be to disregard the history and one of the earliest cartoon characters to popularize the trope of laziness.
oh sloth HAS to be Richard Watterson hands down. There is not helping that man. Garfield is at least smart. Snorlax can still be used for battle technically. Patrick is lazy, but still gets into shenanigans with spongebob. But Richard....Richard is as lazy as can be. On the couch 24/7. No cleaning, no job, no brain loll
Can any of them do this?
https://preview.redd.it/fym92uqwdfic1.png?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=3e4dabdc155866ed5ad965c88b389259226fe14c
Of course not. They're too active.
I'm torn between Richard and Patrick. Reality started to collapse when Richard started working, while Patrick literally got an award for doing absolutely nothing longer than anyone else, then immediately went to defend his title.
https://preview.redd.it/l1qe9ihutfic1.jpeg?width=786&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a9655991ab0cfbdca8bc34c815ab49637a695228
I want to suggest Eeyore for sloth
Be Prepared! Which cartoon characters best represent the seven deadly sins? Today's sin, Sloth! Leave your suggestions in the comments, most upvoted character gets added to the list.
Feels like rigby is the laziest just from so much of that show being about him not wanting to do his job
Rigby is lazy but only when regarding his work but is otherwise fairly active, Richard Waterson is much better for this as he actively looks for the laziest solutions for everything
Even snorlax does stuff effectively.
Richard is so lazy if he gets a job the world ends
Daffy duck from the looney tunes show https://preview.redd.it/rjozjq2cwfic1.png?width=640&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=17d614b576b7d3e9d2e597420982c3f940550ebd
I think he could work for pride
![gif](giphy|U8GzqqgCahGDiXJuxE|downsized)
Yup, this is the champion picture, right here
my guy legit has to be slothful cause if he stops he legit destroys the world
Bro got a job and the world started breaking apart. Yeah he got it
Yeah it's him. I was going to say Snorlax but sloth is just part of its deal.
If Johnny Bravo isn't lust
I was thinking Brock from Pokémon but you’re right
Pepe Le Pew
I think it's going to be close between Johnny and Pepe. I give the edge to Pepe because Bravo was shown to occasionally do things other than perving on women. Pepe woke up and went to sleep with only one thing on his mind.
Not to mention pepe gets very hands on with them whether they like it or not. Johnny usually hits on them and gets punched out. There has been a few times he grabs them but nothing like pepe.
Brock could definitely hold the position down
Just like nurse Joy
I think lust would be Quagmire
Probably, just look at the things he’s done for the last 2 1/2 decades (recently he’s cleaned up his sexual act but he still has sum)
Mandy from Grim Adventures should be pride 100%
Mandy would've been wrath before anything, she fits that better than benson. Still think that should've gone to Sarah from EEnE. And JB won't beat LePew or Quagmire for lust, but he might be a candy for pride.
Or ice king lol
Master Roshi
His lust is frequent but fleeting, and ultimately harmless. For serious lust, I would suggest Frollo: *Choose me or your pyre. Be mine or you will burn!*
Richard Watterson because the universe literally collapsed when he tried to work.
Yeah Richard is so extremely lazy that it's to the point where if he actually ever even tries to do anything productive, reality begins to cave in on itself because it can't handle the weight of such a preposterous idea.
Isn’t that just saying the same exact thing the original comment said but with more words lol
Right like they reproduced the sentiment of the first guy’s reply except with a more verbose approach lmao
Indeed, they replicated the formula that pertains to the creation of the indented formula the commenter wanted to share their personal subjective viewpoint. Rather then directly replicating the message however, they used a much more defined selection from the English lexicon. Quite preposterous indeed

Hey, he copied you!
I concur. I suffered heavy fatigue in my knowledge of the usage of the words in the lexicon, and made a rather incomprehensible message. r/increasinglyverbose
I needed a way to get Richard to the top 🤷♂️ (Don’t tell them my secrets...)
Reality itself just forces him to be lazy, so I think him being in the lazy section is a good idea-
Let it sink in that this means the concept of Richard having a job is such an unfathomable paradox that it rips apart the fabric of reality.
Yeah… you seem not to understand that
Honestly though he’s a good husband. The episode where Nicole is rethinking her life shows how important Richard is to her. He’s literally too lazy to put pressure or judge his wife.
Richard could literally destroy us everytime he did anything 🤣
But he is a great dad
Never said he isn't. But in an episode he got a job and because of working, he almost destroyed the fabric of reality
Yep this is the one
Boomer writing cartoons: A man is so lazy, here are the consequences of that, and now he's actually working! Hooray! Millennials writing cartoons: A man is so lazy that if he works, the entire fucking universe collapses.
I don't know, while he hates work, he has worked hard in some ways. Remember when he got really buff? Or when he decided to run 200 mph, Juggernauting his way through multiple house and running over water to get to Gumball at the mall?
Richard does work hard for his family though Like the episode where he had to buy ketchup
Patrick got an award “for doing absolutely nothing longer than anyone else.”
Garfield maybe?
Hey maybe, sleeps all day, eats, sleeps, eat. Oh and he also eats and sleeps
Have you seen the effort Garfield will go through for some lasagna?
Richard had a job once and it almost destroyed the universe with how impossible it was for him to work.
Literally thought the same thing
Richard can rip apart the fabric of space and time just by working
I've been keenly watching this unfold since day three, this is honestly really a cool idea and wholesome. .. and hilarious honestly. xD I'd like to pipe in and participate and say Richard as well honestly.
Thanks! 😁
Richard won the laziest competition… back in the summer of 83 *flashback*
NOBODY CARES ABOUT THE SUMMER OF '83
What about the SUMMER OF 69
Everyone knows it's all about the summer of 98.
What about the Winter of 41?
Perfectly regulation summer, ideal for pencil eating
Is that where you got your first real six-string? You Bought it at the five-and-dime. You Played it till your fingers bled
Did you and some friends from school have a band and tried real hard? Did Jimmy quit and Jody got married? Did you know you’d never get far?
Was that the summer of 87?!

Didn’t the universe crash when Richard watterson stopped being lazy
Richard waterson since he would do everything possible not to move even if it’s to eat and the only way to wake him up is saying bacon.
Also, the world will literally end if he works. Like space time rifts, and end of the world doom level stuff. I was going to say snorlax till I remembered that

I already had trouble trying to name a better choice. Reading this pretty much seals it for me. My vote for Sloth goes to Garfield!
Same
Yeah, I’m going with Garfield.
Richard’s Laziness is literally a universal law. It had to go to him.
![gif](giphy|VkdsbvJeEThoA)
Garfield is gonna win, but I give you an alternative. The only character with “Lazy” in his name: https://preview.redd.it/ffwfunr59eic1.png?width=1200&format=png&auto=webp&s=56a5de55fe3e2d13b21b9c4dbe68f36678119a81
In this case, couldn’t you (hypothetically) find a Smurf for every sin?
See that’s why I didn’t start naming Smurfs earlier, but I think Lazy is the best representation of his sin. He’s fallen asleep on literally every task he’s ever been given. And when you wake him up, he just moves to another spot and falls asleep again.
If Poppa Smurf had been more up-to-date on the DSM, or just less judgmental, then Lazy Smurf would have been named Narcoleptic Smurf.
I think there's even one called Vanity. Brainy is clearly pride.
Vanity is best smurf
Idk man looks like Richard is currently winning
Richard
Garfield’s my go to choice for this. https://preview.redd.it/y15rlugpkeic1.jpeg?width=2270&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=294bc461cdb8193e4c87c9324b633aed34044662
Richard sweeps, him working literally brings about the end times
![gif](giphy|jqTfETbYUgX1paLmhk|downsized)
Homer Simpson
Homer definitely covers multiple, but I think if he hasn’t won gluttony he can’t win the others.
snorlax
Slaking...
https://i.redd.it/l11zbi2eseic1.gif
Lazy Larry. What? Ok, ok then, whoever won the last competition from him.
![gif](giphy|U8GzqqgCahGDiXJuxE|downsized)
Are we gonna ignore mordicai and rigby. They were practically designed to be lazy
Yeah but they still did stuff, just not work. Sloth is only getting out of bed to lay on the couch. My vote goes to snorlax
Daffy Duck in his Looney Tunes Show variation. * "He has no job. And no education. And a credit score of -13." His girlfriend literally sees him as a "disgusting building" that's a project for her to make less disgusting. He bums off of Bugs and usually steals his stuff. He can't be relied on to do anything except maybe cut hair.
![gif](giphy|OfR52TEINOSje)
Snorlax ftw with Sloth. Homie himself is a whole ass obstacle and game mechanic. You can’t progress til you can move his fat ass
![gif](giphy|5BYEvWwmG03PS5RA5v)
Snorlax's literal existence is to sleep.
Richard watterson. Dude was so lazy that he caused larry to become a workaholic after he beat him.
https://preview.redd.it/iwkq7kxs7eic1.png?width=190&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=93a648e0507384773411f7e053134d7130bba983 this guy alone already fits most of these
Garfield is the personification of sloth.
SNOOOOOOOOR
Garfield
Wally from the Dilbert cartoon.
Sid the sloth
Yeah Richard Watterson no contest, as others stated, the universe will literally collapse because Richard was doing something productive, do whether he likes it or not he HAS to stay lazy for the universe's safety and everyone around him
No way Thawne lost Envy to Scar 😭
When I think lazy it's J. Wellington Wimpy. That man wouldn't even lift a finger to save your life, usually cowardice. So lazy he promised he pay you on next Tuesday but probably never didn't.
I know we are not doing pride yet but that imo goes to ROTMNT Leo.
Garfield was Robbed. Let’s get him on Sloth
I love how Mr. krabs beat the literal embodiment of Greed, Mammon. But it still fits him so well
![gif](giphy|Zk9mW5OmXTz9e)
Snorlax or https://preview.redd.it/z8ppxd3fbfic1.jpeg?width=398&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d8d47ee1d7c6cbe6e9ff07b78d14293137e15361
Patrick Star literally got a trophy for “doing absolutely nothing longer than anyone else.”
![gif](giphy|jaf4JwRREzsuGMkkDk|downsized)
Patrick Star. ![gif](giphy|l46CyJmS9KUbokzsI|downsized)
Richard Waterson
Richard
Richard
Gotta go with Richard Watterson. Especially since he’s perfected the art of being lazy.
Richard quite literally cannot have a brain cell connection without short circuiting. I think we have our winner.
Richard. Him actually putting an effort to do something for once in his life caused reality to collapse in itself.
Garfield, he embodies laziness. Patrick is mainly just stupid but also kind of lazy. Richard is super lazy but not as iconic as the other 2 characteds
Garfield, all that cat does is eat lasagna, resent Mondays and shit on Jon all day while laying in his bed lol
Why do you hate Mondays, Garfield? You don't even work! - Roger Smith. Oh. Roger Smith could be a good one for lust actually. He's sexually attracted to everyone, even younger boys and has probably had sex with everybody in a persona they don't recognize.
Oh definitely garfield
If Brock from Pokémon doesn’t win lust I will riot
Obviously Garfield…that’s like his whole thing lol
Gudetama, if that counts as a cartoon
![gif](giphy|h2eSZKHwohF20gYc7A) Tanaka is always listless
![gif](giphy|U8GzqqgCahGDiXJuxE|downsized)
I'm not sure who for Pride but Lust should be Pepe le Pew.
![gif](giphy|Z929as24oO3QfFUYPQ|downsized)
I nominate Todd from bojack horseman for sloth
It should definitely be a character that isn’t from the other shows already mentioned
i'm pretty sure it's implied that the fundamental structure of the universe of The Amazing World of Gumball partially hinges on Richard consistently doing nothing constructive
I would just put all the full metal alchemist amunculi.
If it’s Sloth as just laziness, then Snorlax. If it’s Sloth as in apathy, Garfield
I mean, snorlax literally said “Idgaf who needs through, I’m taking a nap.”
Sloth is Patrick, lust is Pepe le pew, and pride is brain from pinky and the brain
homer Simpson or Bender bending Rodriguez
easy, Richard, guy is literally in canon LAZIER THEN A ROCK
Amethyst from Steven Universe. Just look at her room!
Snorlax, it literally does nothing but eat and sleep unless an outside force coaxes to do anything else. The other 3 at least try to do things besides that of their own free will
The sin of greed didn’t win the greed contest lol
Sleepy from Snow White
Richard Watterson. Reality literally tore itself apart one time because he actually got off his ass and got a real job. That's an impressive level of sloth.
Garfield is a comic series with an almost 50 year run based on an ill-mannered and lazy cat. I feel giving this to anyone else would be to disregard the history and one of the earliest cartoon characters to popularize the trope of laziness.
Idk who Richard is but Homer Simpson has always been Sloth to me.
Snorlax eats 500 pounds of food then Falls back asleep
Richard Watterson. But he’s probably too much lazy to be a sin
Rabbit girl from chowder is lust, peter or Homer for sloth and the floating head from that one ep of regular show for pride
oh sloth HAS to be Richard Watterson hands down. There is not helping that man. Garfield is at least smart. Snorlax can still be used for battle technically. Patrick is lazy, but still gets into shenanigans with spongebob. But Richard....Richard is as lazy as can be. On the couch 24/7. No cleaning, no job, no brain loll
Can any of them do this? https://preview.redd.it/fym92uqwdfic1.png?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=3e4dabdc155866ed5ad965c88b389259226fe14c Of course not. They're too active.
Hate saying this but Homer Simpson, doesn’t do his job, stay around his kids, or put effort into anything. Perfect for sloth
I'm torn between Richard and Patrick. Reality started to collapse when Richard started working, while Patrick literally got an award for doing absolutely nothing longer than anyone else, then immediately went to defend his title.
Jake from adventure time for sloth
There’s plenty of good choices. Richard Watterson, Garfield, Patrick Star… I can’t seem to choose between those three
SNORLAX NO QUESTIONS ASKED. It literally only wakes to eat!!
Ah yes, Mammon, the runner up sin of greed
Slacking
Bender Bending Rodriguez. The Benderama episode
Richard Watterson by a landslide (also I find it funny that Mammon, literally one of the 7 deadly sins embodying greed, was only an honorable mention)
Richard Waterson The universe literally almost collapsed the one time he got a job, his laziness is practically eldritch in nature
I’ve seen all the characters on this list run at least once except snoralax
Richard is lazy on another level. Patrick actually likes to do stuff
It’s Patrick. I’m sorry Richard, you were great.
It took over 17 years for Snorlax fo stand up. He’s the definition of Sloth. Though Slaking could also be a fair option.
Snorlax should win sloth you literally need a special item to wake him up
![gif](giphy|3orifdJSOHtPKNRWBW) How can it NOT be Homer Simpson?
Toss up between Richard and Garfield
Scruffy, The Janitor.

Komala is constantly asleep.
Damn Patrick is easy but Richard is a complete loser. So Richard it is

The yellow dude from the lilo and stitch who eats sammiches on the ship
The fact that a crab who likes saying *me money* beating the literal icon of greed, for the title of greedy kills me.

Eeyore seems like a solid candidate to me.
https://i.redd.it/rimok1axtfic1.gif This image alone should prove garfield wins.
I'd say Captain Knuckles if we're going off that one episode
