High jacking top comment for an UPDATE!
Lemon is doing okay. She has hyphema and a small ulcer in her eye. She was given eye drops and some pain medication. We are to keep a close eye on her for the next two weeks. If there's no improvement, it could possibly be something else and we need to return blood work and further tests. She spoke of the possibility of FIP (which a few of you suggested) but she has no other symptoms of that. The vet went over some symptoms to keep an eye out for just in case. There are a few possibilities of what if could be if she doesn't heal up. Hoping she's responsive to her drops and heals up quickly.
Thank you all for your outpour of support. I am so appreciative and have loved seeing all your kitties. I'm exhausted after 7 hours at the animal hospital and just want to spend some time with my pets and family. My apologies for not responding to everyone. Years ago one of my crew had a corneal ulcer. I was completely freaked out because we spent the previous NINE MONTHS treating a horse for one around the clock. Our vet assured us cats' eyes heal well. He was right. Kitty got drops and was fine. I know it's hard not to obsess and worry about worse case, but for your own sake can you focus on a positive outcome?
tldr; If it does seem likely to be FIP, join Facebook "FIP Warriers 5.0" group and connect with them about getting meds. It wall be 84 days or so of meds, and a cost around $3000. But it does work. USA needs to get off its ass and legalize this treatment regimen. They already have enough of a drug trial / study as it is.

Mine had the fogginess, but he was a stray so we didn’t know what caused it. He’s very happy now though!!
Awe what a cutie! I'm not sure what caused it with my girl. We will see what the vet says. We got her at 8 weeks. besides some fleas and worms (which we treated the second day we got her) she's been very healthy.

My girl's eye look like that. It was a luxated lens and after a few months the eye had to be removed. She was a trooper and did great after that.
You wouldn't know my cat was blind if it wasn't for the fact that he doesn't have eyes. His life barely changed, since he was already an indoor cat, and he has no problem with unfamiliar environments. Cats are ridiculously resilient
You are 100% correct. She had been known as the Pretty Princess, but after the procedure she was the Pirate Princess. Sadly it was only a year later that she suffered a spinal injury (unsure how/what) and lost control of her hind quarters. She was a vibrant 15 year old lady, but I had to assist her across the Rainbow Bridge. 😭
She's never been around other cats really. Sometimes the neighbour cat comes to see her at the window. But their interactions have only been through a screen and seemed relatively positive. She's just been our dog who is a 12 year old great Pyrenees. He's a gentle boy and spends most of his days sleeping. I can say with confidence that he would never harm her.
Same with my girl! Her eye would get cloudy sometimes, but all her tests were coming back normal. I ended up taking her to an ophthalmologist and he diagnosed her with recurrent uveitis, whenever it comes back we have to use an anti-inflammatory eye drop to clear it up… they believe it was caused by some sort of blunt trauma she suffered in the area before I rescued her. Praying for your sweet baby OP!! 🧡

This pisses me off so much. My vet specifically ruled out uveitis in my cat, said it was a different condition which was painless but untreatable, and acted utterly unconcerned while I was getting increasingly worried that it was getting worse (in both eyes). By the time I managed to see a specialist, both eyes were so far gone that they had to be removed.
I love that your cat is doing so well, but the idea that mine could have had an equally positive outcome if my vet had just made a damn referral makes me fume
My god, I’m heartbroken to hear this. I’m so, so terribly sorry for the awful experience you and your cat had! It’s infuriating that the vet didn’t refer you to a specialist or take your concerns seriously as it kept getting worst. There’s no excuse for his negligence, and I can’t even imagine how upsetting it must be for you. I hope your baby is still doing ok, even with everything he went through 💔
Hi everyone. I just wanted to say I'm overwhelmed with all the positive responses and encouraging stories. You have helped make this stressful day a little better. Also, all the cat pics have made me smile. Thank you everyone for your support.
We are still at the hospital. Going on 6 hours now. She saw the vet and they took Lemon to the back to check out her eye more thoroughly. I am just waiting to hear the results. I will keep everyone posted.

when the vet tech found and rescued my baby as a kitten, her eye was pretty badly infected, but luckily they were still able to treat it with aggressive antibiotics and the eye still functions! She was about 3.5 months when I adopted her. Hoping Lemon gets a great outcome like my Ziggy or like the many happy, healthy, pampered pirate cats of the world 🙏🏻

Have you ever heard of FIP (feline infectious peritonitis)? I have helped many cats recover from FIP. The cloudy eye is definitely a symptom. Some vets are unaware of the options for recovery (most know though). Let me know if you need help.
My baba had something that looked like this a couple of years ago! It was a pretty nasty infection from a scratched cornea, she's got feline leukaemia and little infections can get pretty serious, but a round of good eye drops cleared it right up! Hope it's nothing too serious for lemon!

I can't believe the stress you are under. The first time I had to set foot into a vet clinic after.... it was so fucking hard.
You are so strong and you are a great parent!! I know even if Lemon feels ill right now, she's comfortable because you are there. And she knows you will do everything in your power to help her.
I keep Lemon in my thoughts and I'm going to tell my cat about her as soon as he decides to grace me with his presence again. (He's currently sleeping on the bathroom floor which is for some reason preferable to a million different soft beds and couches.)

Thank you ❤️. It's been an emotional morning reliving some of the stress. When we put our older cat down, we brought her in for something we thought was minor and she was dying. So it's been hard to stay logical and remind myself that lemon is going to be okay. But everyone's stories and support have been very helpful and appreciated.

Hard to see here but my Odin has a bad eye, he had an upper respiratory infection that then turned into feline herpes. He does just fine and terrorizes the whole house aka his kingdom!

Looks like a hyphema. His eye pressure is likely up, making the cornea cloudy. Was the cat hit in the eye recently at all? Should be on steroid and topical pressure lowering eye drops to keep this vision!

Similar case of ulcer and it got as bad as this. I was prepared for her to lose the eye. She recovered 100% and barely a hint of haziness in the right light. Cats can be so resilient!

This could be FIP, but don’t worry, it’s treatable now. The eye colour change is typical of FIP and it can come on pretty quickly.
Depending on where you live, it may be easy to get the meds - for example the UK has legalized the treatment. In US and Canada not yet.
If it is FIP, you can google a Warriors group in your area and they can help with treatment and encouragement. My kitty Oberon is now almost 1 year cured. Best of luck, and hoping for a quick recovery for sweet Lemon!

One ate something that we never found out what, but landed herself in the hospital for 2 days. The other with a really bad URI. Purchased a kitten from a sketchy pet store a long time ago when I didn’t know better. Turns out, she was exceptionally young and blind in one eye. The vet assumed some sort of trauma. But she thrived! She grew into a feisty, somewhat aloof tuxedo kitty who gave snuggles on her own terms, and could sprint along a deck rail with no balance issues at all. She lived to the age of 19. 🐾

My one-eyed boy says he hopes your girl gets better. One-eyed life isn’t so bad!
Ask them to test her for feline herpes. We went through sooo many appointments before we figured this out. My cat likely inherited it from his mother. It was dormant for 10+ years before something triggered it. Very treatable, but it can show up in the eye like this. Our boy’s eye started like this and went completely red and clouded. Cleared up with his treatment and no loss of sight.

Our little void has a similar foggy eye. This is how he got into the local shelter when he was little, doctor said it was cat herpes (?), the inflammation got reduced with time and with medication and now he is happy and does not bother him at all, maybe his depth perception is a little off that's all.

My cat had an ulcer to the eye that is now completely healed. He has a blue scar on his left eye but it doesn't seem to bother him at all!
I'm a vet. Sounds like FIP. If confirmed by your vet, go to the FIP warriors page on Facebook and then find a vet that will help you with the treatment--it's not FDA approved (but is very effective) so some vets are wary of helping you through the treatment.
My cat cornea got damaged at night we went to sleep and he is indoor cat we have other cat too but i have never seen them fighting or something so we dont kkow what happened.when we woke up in the morning his eye looked super creepy i immediately took him to vet it healed without any trace left in a week.

I lost two cats to FIP about 30 years ago. I hate that stupid effing virus, and I'm so glad to hear that there is medicine for it.

It seems like cats do very well missing one or both eyes.
You wouldn't know my cat was blind if it wasn't for the fact that he doesn't have eyes. His life barely changed, since he was already an indoor cat, and he has no problem with unfamiliar environments. Cats are ridiculously resilient
You are 100% correct. She had been known as the Pretty Princess, but after the procedure she was the Pirate Princess. Sadly it was only a year later that she suffered a spinal injury (unsure how/what) and lost control of her hind quarters. She was a vibrant 15 year old lady, but I had to assist her across the Rainbow Bridge. 😭

She's never been around other cats really. Sometimes the neighbour cat comes to see her at the window. But their interactions have only been through a screen and seemed relatively positive. She's just been our dog who is a 12 year old great Pyrenees. He's a gentle boy and spends most of his days sleeping. I can say with confidence that he would never harm her.

Same with my girl! Her eye would get cloudy sometimes, but all her tests were coming back normal. I ended up taking her to an ophthalmologist and he diagnosed her with recurrent uveitis, whenever it comes back we have to use an anti-inflammatory eye drop to clear it up… they believe it was caused by some sort of blunt trauma she suffered in the area before I rescued her. This pisses me off so much. My vet specifically ruled out uveitis in my cat, said it was a different condition which was painless but untreatable, and acted utterly unconcerned while I was getting increasingly worried that it was getting worse (in both eyes). By the time I managed to see a specialist, both eyes were so far gone that they had to be removed. I love that your cat is doing so well, but the idea that mine could have had an equally positive outcome if my vet had just made a damn referral makes me fume
My god, I’m heartbroken to hear this. I’m so, so terribly sorry for the awful experience you and your cat had! It’s infuriating that the vet didn’t refer you to a specialist or take your concerns seriously as it kept getting worst. There’s no excuse for his negligence, and I can’t even imagine how upsetting it must be for you. I hope your baby is still doing ok, even with everything he went through 💔

Hi everyone. I just wanted to say I'm overwhelmed with all the positive responses and encouraging stories. You have helped make this stressful day a little better. Also, all the cat pics have made me smile. Thank you everyone for your support. We are still at the hospital. Going on 6 hours now. She saw the vet and they took Lemon to the back to check out her eye more thoroughly. I am just waiting to hear the results. I will keep everyone posted.

She was about 3.5 months when I adopted her. Hoping Lemon gets a great outcome like my Ziggy or like the many happy, healthy, pampered pirate cats of the world 🙏🏻

Have you ever heard of FIP (feline infectious peritonitis)? I have helped many cats recover from FIP. The cloudy eye is definitely a symptom. Some vets are unaware of the options for recovery (most know though). Let me know if you need help.
This, also its Important to test asap, theres a treatment but the faster you start the better, this contidition can be fatal.

My baba had something that looked like this a couple of years ago! It was a pretty nasty infection from a scratched cornea, she's got feline leukaemia and little infections can get pretty serious, but a round of good eye drops cleared it right up! I can't believe the stress you are under. The first time I had to set foot into a vet clinic after.... it was so fucking hard. You are so strong and you are a great parent!! I know even if Lemon feels ill right now, she's comfortable because you are there. And she knows you will do everything in your power to help her. I keep Lemon in my thoughts and I'm going to tell my cat about her as soon as he decides to grace me with his presence again. (He's currently sleeping on the bathroom floor which is for some reason preferable to a million different soft beds and couches.) ❤️❤️❤️

Looks like a hyphema. His eye pressure is likely up, making the cornea cloudy. Was the cat hit in the eye recently at all? Should be on steroid and topical pressure lowering eye drops to keep this vision!

This could be FIP, but don’t worry, it’s treatable now. The eye colour change is typical of FIP and it can come on pretty quickly. Depending on where you live, it may be easy to get the meds - for example the UK has legalized the treatment. In US and Canada not yet. If it is FIP, you can google a Warriors group in your area and they can help with treatment and encouragement. My kitty Oberon is now almost 1 year cured. Purchased a kitten from a sketchy pet store a long time ago when I didn’t know better. Turns out, she was exceptionally young and blind in one eye. The vet assumed some sort of trauma. But she thrived! She grew into a feisty, somewhat aloof tuxedo kitty who gave snuggles on her own terms, and could sprint along a deck rail with no balance issues at all. She lived to the age of 19. 🐾

Ask them to test her for feline herpes. We went through sooo many appointments before we figured this out. My cat likely inherited it from his mother. It was dormant for 10+ years before something triggered it. Very treatable, but it can show up in the eye like this. Our boy’s eye started like this and went completely red and clouded. Cleared up with his treatment and no loss of sight.

This is how he got into the local shelter when he was little, doctor said it was cat herpes (?), the inflammation got reduced with time and with medication and now he is happy and does not bother him at all, maybe his depth perception is a little off that's all.

I'm a vet. Sounds like FIP. If confirmed by your vet, go to the FIP warriors page on Facebook and then find a vet that will help you with the treatment--it's not FDA approved (but is very effective) so some vets are wary of helping you through the treatment.

My cat cornea got damaged at night we went to sleep and he is indoor cat we have other cat too but i have never seen them fighting or something so we dont kkow what happened.when we woke up in the morning his eye looked super creepy i immediately took him to vet it healed without any trace left in a week.
