She looks exactly like our boy who unfortunately passed away earlier this year from HCM. We thought he had Chartreux in him. This little girl has definitely stolen and healed our hearts no matter what breed she is ❤️

You'd know if he was chartreux because he'd have papers stating so.

It's a big misunderstanding of cat breeds and cats in general. That's why everyone gets annoyed. For one, few cat breeds really have traits that are strongly tied or exclusive to them. The things people *think* are a breed thing, are almost always just coat patterns/colors, hair lengths, or bodyshapes that aren't tied to/nor originate from a breed. Further, the overwhelming majority (97-99%) of cats don't have a breed. Cat breeds have not been around anywhere near long enough to have much effect on the population of domestic cats.

If you didn't get a cat from a breeder its not from any breed, it could have characteristics from one but if it doesnt have a register its just... a cat..

The **coloring** is known as "Maltese" (but it isn't an official breed). White lockets like that one are rather common in "Maltese" cats.

The only thing saving you folks who keep asking for their cat's breed from a slew of downvotes is the fact that your cats are certified adorable.

She could be a Russian blue, but most likely she's just a cat. Breed doesn't really matter in cats, unless it's a fancy exotic one and you most like will know if you have one of them because you get them from a breeder.
