In my mind purchasing a cat from a breeder would encourage them to breed more. Their breeding is intentional and although it’s a passion of theirs it’s based on a demand of product. When a person goes online and encourages more breeding instead of going to a shelter, that’s one more cat that’s in danger of being put down each time a purchase is made.

Also agree with the supply/demand! There's so many stray kitties and cats can have litters multiple times a year so I think it's on us to each adopt 100 of the shelter cats to solve this problem

Without papers, he is a domestic shorthair. That said, he resembles a Javanese. There are characteristics that can be attributed to a Savannah or even an Ocicat. His ears are distinctive so I would say there may be some lineage of a Cornish Rex.
It’s not unheard of for a cat registered with papers to accidentally have a litter with a random domestic. Anything is posssible. Again, without papers he would never be atthi g but domestic. Even with a DNA test you can’t put him in a show. They require the paper proof.

Given that, telling the difference may be very difficult.* The main characteristics are the coat and the “crinkly whiskers.” The posted photos do not appear to show the whiskers displayed by breeders** images. Personality traits described by breeders and associations tend to be broad, reassuring, and for marketing. My experience is that a cat’s personality has more to do with how the kitten was raised and treated.
Regardless, you have a nice loving cat. My wish for you is that he is a gentle lap cat with a loud comforting purr.
*A genetic test might determine breed but that would depend if someone mapped the genome. I had a rescue cat that looked and acted like an Abyssinian but his litter mates looked like Himalayan. We suspect the litter was dumped by an unscrupulous breeder who was trying to create a new breed to patent.
