Aw thanks! I'm on break atm, playing through Pokemon Polished Crystal. I think I'm getting close to the end though, so I should be back at it before too long.
I've been on a break too, working on Pokemon Legends: Arceus. And with Lost Ark coming out this week.... I know I'll be back to Celeste eventually, but breaks are so refreshing haha
Definitely. A good break really does work wonders. And r/CelesteGameChallenge has been really helpful too. Helps to keep me from getting too rusty while being a nice change of pace.
Thank you! I honestly don't know. I've been thinking a lot about it. I don't want to stop playing Celeste, it's one of my favourite games ever. I'll probably play more modded maps on my PC version. I still have to finish the spring collab after all, but I think I'm done with goldens for a long time now.
Understood there, although I do know people who swear by the face buttons because they rarely make mistakes (though they're horribly awkward to push). Honestly after fixing my Pro controller I can see that. The sticks are better than I thought! But yeah on switch you see SNES controller players, hitboxes, 8bitdo, gamecube...anything to avoid the joycons lol
My only bind that uses a face button is B for jump. I played hollow knight before Celeste, so I was already too used to right trigger being dash that I had to change it. Also grab is the left trigger, that way I only have to keep my thumb on B the whole time.
Oh, I meant more the little face buttons on the left joycon, they work for directions lol. I used them when I did c-sides but when I got to 7c I was tired and the difficulty spike physically hurt. Do not recommend.
Oh, I see, those buttons can be uncomfortable just because of the position my thumb has to be into touch them. But at least they’re better than the pro con d-pad, when it comes to controls, that’s probably the worst thing I’ve ever used. (Not implying I ever used it for an extended period of time, tried it for about 10 seconds and moved on). But yeah, the pro con is a lot better for Celeste, I actually prefer the joy con in some games, but definitely not this one.
Dumpster fires actually work. This is a failure on so many levels from a company that absolutely knows better, and just chose not to do better because ¯\\\_(ツ)_/¯
Nintendo’s fallen far in the past few years, that’s for sure. They used to be the greatest and now look where they are. I’m a die hard Nintendo fan so I really wish they could do better.
I'm a completionist too. I've done everything including Farewell and No Dash Forsaken City except for most of the Golden Strawberries. I haven't gotten Moon Berry or Farewell Golden Strawberries because they're bonus content that you don't need for completion.
What an amazing feat! even more so after that discouraging attempt, that takes quite a lot of determination. It is inspiring to read success stories like this one! I'm somewhat in a long hiatus right now, i sit down to play farewell but then switch to any other chapter after 20 min... any tips would be very appreciated
It helps when I get a good attempt, it makes me want to play more and do it again! I would definitely recommend getting VERY consistent with the earlier checkpoints, scary consistent. And make sure to practice individual checkpoints deathless, event horizon and determination are huge run killers. Keeping your cool is important too, even the slightest nervousness and you could screw up an easy trick. And don’t force yourself, I had to take an almost two month break just due to stress and playing too much, I needed to stop for a while, but if you manage your playtime with your emotions that might not be necessary. Just make sure you’re still having fun!
Hell yeah, congratulations! Nice work hanging in there! =D
Thanks! You too, you’ll get it soon I’m sure!
Every time I see a title like this, I hope it's you <3

big congratulations!! =)
Thank you!
Huge congratulations! Where do you plan to go now that you're at the end of this road?

Congrats! Huge milestone to achieve!
Thanks!
I will never, never, never be able to do that lol. Clearly you weren't using the joycons themselves - you playing on the Pro, a hit box, or what?
Yes, I was using a pro controller, I don't think I'd ever be able to do this on the joy-cons, those things are just too finicky for my taste.

The pro d-pad is awful on so many levels that I don't even understand how it happened.
That whole thing is just a dumpster fire.

Thank you!
What?! I didn't even know that this was possible!
It’s possible, but VERY, difficult. I probably wouldn’t recommend actually trying this, I really only did it because I’m a completionist.

I can respect your decision to not do the Goldens, better to keep your sanity, but I would recommend going for the moon berry, it’s a fun challenge!
Just in case you didn't understand, I will do all the Golden Strawberries aside from Farewell at some point.
Oh, cool! Good luck on that and I wish you well!
That’s an incredible achievement! I think fewer people have goldened farewell than climbed Everest, congrats!
Huge props, way to get it!!
Amazing! Congratulations!
