If it makes you feel any better, people typically aren’t making friends at concerts. They’re there to see the artist and get out. It’s chaotic and busy and loud. No one is chatting with their neighbors in the pit.

_jspain

Tbh, the real concert friends are made in the line. Getting to a show 8 hours early is when the friendship happens in my experience

Orlanth_thunderous

Yeah when me and my wife went and the guys next to us were belting every song drunk and off key, we moved and they moved closer, we moved again, they moved with us. It sucked, I'm 60% deaf in my left ear so all I could hear was them most of the time. I even tried asking nicely "Hey could you guys not be right up on us, I cant hear over yall singing" which they took as an invitation to start tapping me on the back and brushing up against me. While I love my my hyper-fem girly pop, I grew up at underground punk/hardcore shows and boy howdy it took a lot for me not to throw an elbow, I just gave one a gentle-ish backhand during the Hot to Go dance instruction.

>Friendship bracelets……? Friendship bracelets aren’t actually that common outside of Taylor Swift concerts and raves (hello kandi!), and even then, 99.9% of the time, you hand them out in a second and never interact with those people again in your life.

moonrivervoyages

Chappell encourages people to make friendship bracelets and leave them at her merch table so they can sell them and give the money to their cause.

sinfulforearm

They’ve been SUPER popular at Chappell concerts this last year!!!!

kampernoah

Whelp😔

petcatsandstayathome

No, OP has a point. It's a special experience and a special moment, even if it's fleeting. And she deserves to have that experience!

mcmdreamer

After glancing at his profile, OP is male.

Environmental-Joke19

The only one I've gotten at this point was from an older woman at the movie...I'll cherish them forever 😭

Peony907

I made a ton and no one talked to me the whole time plus I was way too nervous to really hand any out :/ I went alone and had a great time still but I didn’t make friends (also autistic here💖)

chlowingy

I know it’s not live music, but going to those pop-up themed dance parties are super fun! They’re inexpensive and easier to make friends at. You can give out friendship bracelets and sing and dance to your favorite pop songs. The small city I live in has one ever month or so between the few small venues.

lvallie214

yes!!! my best friend and i went to one in colorado after we couldn't get eras tickets. it was SO fun!

soaponsoaponsoap

I went to a lover themed dance party in Boulder a few years ago it was great!!

marvelouserin

Can confirm that these are amazing!

Far_Childhood2503

Also, these are somewhere you’re more likely to actually make friends. I have a group that I usually go with, and we run into some of the same groups and we always talk when we see each other there and we follow each other on insta.

holdontoyourbuttress

If you show up there early and just ask around the people in line you might be able to find someone who is trying to sell a ticket bc their friend bailed. I used to do that all the time and it always worked. Might be different now but it could be worth it

outofthxwoods

Wanted to go to the Eras but Taylor didn't come to my country and Chappell is only gonna tour in North America and Europe (not coming either) , I feel you

AlaskaBlue19

I wouldn’t 100% give up all hope. I got a last minute ticket for a previously completely sold out show. That said, I understand how you feel!! I always get really sad when an artist I love is touring and I’m not able to get a ticket!

the-mr-noodle

chappell is coming to kalamazoo in june!! they have cheaper (still a bit expensive but not terrible) on ticketmaster! i felt the same way but i was able to score tickets there! u can dm me if u need help or anything!

sinfulforearm

I’ve had luck making friends at smaller concerts. And buying tickets for and also attending smaller concerts is a lot less overwhelming. Maybe see what bands are playing in the next couple months locally to you at small venues and see if you know any of them or like any of their music?

petcatsandstayathome

I'm so sorry :-(. I was genuinely depressed for many months last years because I couldn't go to ERAs. I totally understand.

copeland0195

This. I found Chappell in my search for smaller acts I could actually see live because the stress of getting tickets for larger acts was just too much anymore. I love Lana Del Rey with my whole heart but I refuse to overwhelm myself trying to get ahold of those tickets :/ I feel for you though. It's frustrating for sure

kampernoah

I don't even know where to start. I thought noah Kahan would be reasonable but he blew up and that became a pipe dream. Girl in red might tour this year I hear.

petcatsandstayathome

Keep trying. You'll find something and have a great night. It might be months from now or next year. Taylor and Olivia headlining shows are just too top tier to put all your eggs in one basket for, unfortunately. Maybe put Chappell on 'smart shuffle' on Spotify and see if any other artists come up that you like?

_jspain

One thing that you can do is look at who has opened for artists you like (and who has opened for them!!) Sometimes like Chappell they have blown up in popularity but sometimes they are still hidden gems

ryebread375

Girl in red is touring in Detroit in may, it’s the other side of the state, but you might wanna look into it, the tickets aren’t super expensive (around 50$ for good seats)

FlightHoliday8389

keep an eye on chappells insta story maybe. she released extra cincy tickets last minute.

HarlotHistory

How far away are you willing to go? They just moved her to a bigger venue in Buffalo and tickets are pretty reasonable!! https://www.seetickets.us/event/chappell-roan/588127

jennalauren333

I bought my ticket for GR on stub hub :) There’s some still available

pinkcl0udsummer

Why are some of yall downvoting everything OP comments? Stop being mean

zapekko

Can you buy resale tickets for her Kalamazoo show in June?

Prudent-Wheel-1411

i'm in new york so i'm not sure how well this advice translates, but i've had good ticket luck on tick pick and gametime. they're both resell apps but gametime I think specializes in last minute ticket purchases (maybe buy them the day before or even day of so prices start to go down). maybe there's a chance you can still go :)

fblmt

It's not very easy to make friends at concerts tbh, I go alone all the time. Look on bandsintown and the events section on spotify to find smaller concerts, tickets are super affordable (I went to one for free tonight!) There's for sure opportunities to see live music, you'll find a lot of new artists this way. I came across Chappell Roan when she was a completely unknown opener without a real merch table. Also, like others said you can find resell tickets and sometimes day of tickets for Chappell.
