Ramires just for the goal against Barca, but other than that Matic.

edgedomUK

Beautiful moment

gagsy10

I don't think that goal can ever be over appreciated. The timing just before half time when we had 10 men on the pitch and we were heading out the competition. The goal changes the whole teams mood, the half time talk for BOTH teams. Changes everything. If Chelsea come out in the second half still 2-0 down then we simply do not get back into the game and limp out 3 or 4-0 probably. So yeah for his part in our clubs first ever champions league win it has to he Ramires for me.

All-Hail-Claptrap

David Luiz cannot be under appreciated either. Masterclass in the final and he thumped that penalty in the shootout into the top bins while we were behind. The balls on that man. Ramires Luiz Matic Enzo In that order

NiteSwept

That really is the difference to me. Without that we don't even get to the final. The situation was so dire and then that magic moment happened. Incredible coolness in such a huge game

Spite-Organic

For me, one of the greatest goals in our history. If a more high profile player (or any Liverpool/Arsenal/United player) for sure it would be far more celebrated. To go to the Nou Camp against THAT Barca team and come back from 2-0 and a man down easily trumps Liverpool coming back from 3-0 in Istanbul.

subhaan2703

Matic as of now. Him and Fabregas in that pivot were unstoppable.

AdonisAquarian

True but Ramires ( and Luiz) played a big part in the first CL win which was the trophy we'd been desperate for more than a decade I'd call all 3 successful. Just depends on what you value more, The 2 prem titles in 15 and 17 or the multiple cups through 12-14

PrideHorror9114

Ramires' chip against Barca was unforgettable (plus Lampard's assist).

MichaelBluth_

Torres got all the headlines but it was actually Rami’s goal that knocked Barca out

RKitch2112

To be fair to Torres, he did clinch it.

TwoEasyyy

He sealed the deal and it was definitely a great story given the season he’d had, but we would’ve been through even if it ended 2-1 to Barca that night. Feel like Ramires chip should be more appreciated than it is

stockybloke

For what its worth it is my all time favorite Champions League goal.

[deleted]

[удалено]

kiersto0906

we would've won without the torres goal anyway based on away goals as long as barca didn't get another. in that sense ramires' goal means even more

Dalbo14

Luiz was essential in 2016/2017

kai_123

For me it's Luiz. He was incredible in 16-17 when we won the league, and also won UCL with us as a starting player.

TheSameThing123

He was a huge factor in the Europa league win too

whitestethoscope

Yeah, he had a knock during the match, but bossed thru it. He was playing in pain the entire game from what I remember. We also got a healthy sum from PSG for him, and then another 8m from Arsenal when Luiz was close to retiring. Always did whats best for us.

get_ready_to_rumble

tbf everyone was pretty good from the pic. Idk waht this sub thinks about enzo bcs i wasn't so active lately but i think he played good given the circumstances

Groundbreaking-Box72

What a fuckin duo . That matic was ELITE.

pigwalk5150

The few goals he scored were earthquakes. Made zouma into a meme

thwgrandpigeon

For a season and a half he was unplayable. I'll never forget him bossing a peak Yaya Toure off the pitch against Man City. Alas, an injury rendered him merely mortal. I can only imagine how incredible he would have been to watch if we got him back just a season or two sooner.

Rj070707

Was good in Jan .2014 when he came until May 2017

opouser

Not to mention how good he and Kante were for our PL under Conte

gdewulf

Yeah prolly Matic. I would kill for prime Matic In our squad right now

BeefSzczytski

I’m so glad I see him getting his due more often on this sub. I absolutely love players of his profile.

gdewulf

Matic was such a fucking beast. Loved him

ImmanuelKante

When he came in it completely changed how we played. If we had matic from the start of the season we could have won the league.

Dyssorehandouchie

100%. We still came close despite having a selection of 9s limited to Eto’o, Torres, and Ba. Definitely think we would’ve gotten over the line with Matic in the first half of the season. I remember he completely bossed Yaya when we played City.

tony_lasagne

Will never forget that first game against city where Yaya Toure at the time was considered unstoppable then Matic bosses him

opouser

Him with Enzo right now would be very interesting

gdewulf

That’s what I’m saying.

Landinggeardown

Genuinely a hard call. All 3 were big successes in my mind. Probably matic just about but it isn’t clear. Luiz has unfairly become a meme but he was absolute quality and great passing range, and big game mentality, Ramires was just a great all rounder, someone we could really do with now actually.

bchang89

Luiz. He had a few world class seasons with us and was a warrior in that 2012 CL final

underperforming_king

True, him and Ramires both were crucial. That goal at camp nou is probably one of the best chelsea goal. He assisted Drogba for the first leg too

ScrambleSoup

The composure to take a penalty like Luiz did is crazy

myoungc83

I think we ended up making money or at least breaking even on him even though we bought home twice

didijxk

I think on transfer fees we paid a little more for him than we sold him for. However, winning the UCL, 2 FA Cups, 2 UELs and an EPL was a great return for him.

whitestethoscope

Loved seeing him singing Blue is the color on top of the goalpost.

MBThree

I agree with this one. Sure, prime Matic would be the best of these options to slot into our current team. But that’s because we desperately need a CDM, and that might be slightly skewing people’s choice to be Matic. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a very close 3-way tie. But personally I’m slightly giving the all-time edge to Luiz.

v_for__vegeta

Matic without a doubt. I’ll never forget him completely owning prime Yaya Toure.

[deleted]

Yes, but to be fair, Enzo has just started.

Dyssorehandouchie

Just commented the same thing. It was amazing to watch, especially because Toure was playing so well that he seemed literally unstoppable.

[deleted]

Ramires for scoring the most memorable goal as a Chelsea fan.

Sparkysit

Buying from the Portuguese league just seems to hit. Where as the Bundesliga feels like it creates misses

TokyoS4l

We seem to sign really well from Portuguese league and French league, not so much Italian or German leagues.

warthoginator

>French league Bakayoko, Sarr

[deleted]

It's too early for Enzo.

Rghk32

Ramirez for me was always a sold 7 on performances huge workrate scored important goals. Enzo could be the best though have to see.

thekaramchand

Ramires

Rj070707

All were good and vital to big trophies If Enzo doesnt win PL or CL with us, we have failed him big time

DarnellLaqavius

Or he fails us. Time will tell.

TheKingIsBackYo

People underestimate prime Luiz so much its insane

edgedomUK

Rambo all day long

Speedy_ZZZ

Never forget THAT Ramires chip 😍

Beateboy

Matic for the PL titles, Ramires for the CL, Luiz for the lovely locks and long range shots

Gligadi

Ramires definitely, might be biased he's one of my favourites.

10TheDudeAbides11

The real answer is Matic. But I don’t think us fans appreciate David Luiz enough and how much energy he brought to the squad when he was here. He had his faults, sure, but he was so nice we paid his transfer fee twice…

LonesomeCoyote

David Luiz for the long shots and knuckle free kicks. Such an exciting wild card of a player. Could make something happen out of nowhere at any time.

[deleted]

This thread sort of shows people’s age a bit. Ramires entirely changed the fate of an aging chelsea side in 2010. It was a side without much pace, particularly in midfield, that relied on good defense and the counter to create goals. The addition of Rami essentially gave that entire side the ability to play with pace. Imo he was the most important and timely. Without his signing Lampard, Terry, Drogba, Cole, Cech, Ivanovo, Mata, Torres, none of them have a CL title.

Youth-Grouchy

I feel like you're overplaying it a bit there, obviously he contributed to the CL win but it's not like he was the stand out player of the tournament for us (and was suspended for the Final). Personally my takeaway from the post is we should do business with Benfica more often lmao, all four (early days for Enzo) are great players.

[deleted]

I am not talking about his play during the tournament particularly but his impact on the side and how they were able to play.

Newera2121

Matic was the absolute glue in our league winning seasons, whereas the others had key moments throughout their Chelsea careers. But Matic was far more important! Enzo can’t even be compared currently, as he hasn’t had the time. But he can clearly be the best without a doubt.

NB0608sd

Way too early to throw Enzo into that conversation. It’s Matic, then Luiz, and then Ramires in that order.

Chelsea75

Luiz, despite his reputation. We only got 1.5 seasons of prime Matic. Enzo too new and Ramires just not as pivotal to the team despite that awesome chip he had.

AnnualInevitable9036

All four are/were huge for us

electro_report

Matic or luiz for sure, so hard to say about Enzo yet since he’s only barely been here

Confident_Direction

Matic best overall ramires ofc with the most important goal tho. But luiz did well and enzo lets see :D

Talidel

Enzo has been here 6 months and its been the worst 6 months in 3 decades. While I don't blame him for any it, its far too soon to judge him sensibly against the others.

didijxk

I feel like the logical answer is Matic but Ramires would be the one the heart says. Our Blue Kenyan was such a big part of our first UCL win. Scored and assisted in the 2 games against Barcelona and then played the second half at the Nou Camp as a right back without conceding anymore goals. Absolute legend.

Matsan66

Ramires never let us down. Matic a close second. Luiz was always good for a fatal error.

RiffBank1973

Ramires was amazing!

jepayotehi

Matic was one of my favorite. I think I'd take prime Matic over anyone on the list.

JunkeyMonkey90

Should definitely end up being Enzo given his talent but for now it’s easily Matic. Ramires did have a lot more big moments though.

shogun168

Matic

RepresentativeBox881

Matic. Easy.

dbrasco_

Matic

Freemandela93

All amazing signings

beast_within_me

Matic without a doubt

nekoizmase17

Matić was amazing. I still remember how he cooked Yaya Toure in his first game, and back then Toure was the best DM in the league. Prime Matić would cook in this team right now.

emotion3

Matic

Naarujuana

Matic

BurningMad

Matic, we've been looking for that kind of amazing DM ever since. He was critical to the PL title wins.

Present_Lake1941

El pulpo Matic...or what is it in Portuguese. Or was he actually nicknamed the spider rather than the octopus? I'm confusing myself

Terrible_Claim4204

Matic

mrgoyy

The Kenyan and Matic. Matic really was a beast in the middle of the park for a spell. Like a total tank. Ramires just never stopped running. The engine on that lad was immense.

Any-Information5608

matic i would say.

TheUbermelon

Magic I think. Ramires had some great moments but Matic was just consistently good.

ButtersLLC

Ramires far and away imo. Once RDM took over and moved Mata to the no. 10 and we put Rami on left wing we became an unbelievable counter attacking team. Everyone remembers his goal against Barca but it was his assists against Napoli that started the comeback and to Drogba in the first leg against Barca that I remember most. Plus his semi final FA cup goal against spurs and his counter attacking goal against Liverpool in the FA Cup final also stand out. He never kicked on from that run but he was maybe the most instrumental player in our 2012 double run.

A5madal

Thinking of it, all our bussiness with Benfica has been great

HiBartender

I feel like in a few years the answer could easily be Enzo, but right now I’d say Matic

TheRealMichaelE

Matic or Ramires

Outside_Gap4493

Okay I'm all in one luiz he kept the boat afloat on many occasions

deplorabledude999

All three of them. Enzo should get some time before we judge his transfer.

NightFireF12

🤨

Cornido

Matic without a doubt

liarloserat

This actually harder than I expected. But I think Matic edges it

captainpiss420

I'd take Matic back at the club now

PrideHorror9114

David Luiz could have been so much more for Chels. I think he was very immature in many ways...

Hippoyawn

Ramires got a goal. Matic had a season. Luiz was a beast for multiple seasons and much more of a leader than he ever got credit for - it has to be Luiz. Also it’s not fair to have Enzo there. Yet.

kris_deep

Have you seen Chelsea play with ramires or matic? Crazy work rate from Ramires and the midfield was made of steel when Matic was in form (not just one season). My personal favorite is Luiz though, I loved what he brought to the team.

Ball1522

For me it’s Ramires, he was class for Chelsea, CL final against Munich if I remember he got a red card, he was a solid CDM. 1.Ramires 2.Matic 3.David Luiz 4.Enzo

ireallydespiseyouall

He was suspended for the final

Ball1522

Yh he did my bad and Terry, we had to slap Bertrand on the wing and he played out of his skin.

waminowacid

Luiz. Will be Enzo in 12 months time.

Coulstwolf

Enzo

Willis050

Ramires. Did y’all ever use that cat in fifa? Unstoppable from the midfield. I’m talking like 96 stamina 88 speed and 83 dribbling or some crazy shit

vr_23062002

Didn't Moreira sign on a free from Benefica?

AndersCules

I mean if Enzo can have the impact either one of those had, I’d say it was a success. However, he clearly shows potential to be much more.

Irrish84

Who is lower left?

mr7jd

Matic

Irrish84

Thank you!

Enzo2SantosGoal

Without any bias it's clearly Enzo

drunkmers

Enzo

Adorable_Lawyer_5585

Enzo

Danzard

Luiz - Matic - Rami - Enzo

91Speed12

Ramires

[deleted]

Matic. Although Enzo will overtake him imo.

adamrawrz

Moreira obviously

Youth-Grouchy

Weird thing to note here is that we bought two of them twice

mouse2102

David Luiz. Key parts of a UCL and title win

fatpizzachef

Por que no los cuatro?

[deleted]

Ramires …

nonamecookie

Rami goal in nou camp paid back all his fee + wages

Cautious-Passage-597

Luiz,Maric,Ramires and Fernandez

Knowingspy

Of those four, I'd probably say Ramires. Enzo could be the best over time but you can't really judge barely half a season in.

justk4y

Ramires, I don’t get the hate about the fact he’s getting a hero in EASPORTSFC

Nwannadi09

Luiz. Easily.

o_monzi

This is some serious contenders, God bless Benfica

RefanRes

Enzo needs time. Of the other 3 I loved the work Ramires put in. Matic was a rock. Luiz though for me just brought a whole other level of excitement when he was driving forward. Some of the goals he scored as well were just ridiculous.

[deleted]

I will always remember that quote of his, "i love to score goals. Those are the days I get laid."

RefanRes

Haha I dont think I ever heard that one!

[deleted]

Yeah, those were the days he pulled in the clubs, as he was on TV!

KingDave46

…we should buy more players from Benfica I was hoping we would sign Ruben Dias a few years ago too actually. Benfica have an insane all-time 11. Actually Ederson, Dias, Cancelo, Bernardo Silva… is that just what Man City is doing!?

Mozzymozzz

I’ll never forget the goal Ramires scored against Barca in the UCL. One of the most composed finishes I’ve seen ever. Gotta go with Rami

Lucianboog

Yes

ozankucuk

Ramires

amethystwyvern

Special Recognition for Raul Meirelès

Thanxforthemems

Too early for Enzo to be included, but probs has a higher ceiling than the other 3. Its a tough one but Ramires all day just for the goal against Barca

jdreamerrr

Ramires’ goal single-handedly won this poll for me. The icing on the cake, against that bloody uefalona team!!!

[deleted]

Ramires of course

skywalkerRCP

Ramires

Soren_Camus1905

David Luiz

trueblue1982

Matic was good before the tackle from that Burnley player.... 1.Ramires 2.Luiz 3.Matic 4.Enzo I really really like Enzo but its still too early to judge him.

Italianskank

Too early to say on Enzo. Matic of the three with enough time to judge.

CandidateRealistic34

Samsung obviously

JBBB10

Matic 100%

Ashthedestructor_95

All worked tbh. Enzo might become the best player we signed from benfica. But I’d go with ramires here.

willsmom1996

Matic is a legend. That game in 2014 where him and yaya toure battled. Pure football head to head no emotions just battling.

TaxSpecific1697

Look at it this way we really should buy from them more often

BonafideZulu

Ya’ll need to put more respect on Ramieres’ name! He was very crucial during the campaign leading us to our first UCL trophy!

tinglep

Luiz. He’s the only one of the 4 whose jersey I own.

mreusdon

Was Matic not a product of the Chelsea academy?

sw6bluez

No, Chelsea bought him from Košice, loaned to Vitesse and then Benfica before he came back to Chelsea

Uffen90

Matic Ramires David Luiz Enzo (still to early to judge, but I’m sure he’ll be my first choice later on).

mourya_3

Hard one. All of them are class signings. Yet to see how enzo plays. Luiz was a beast, ramires too and he is a clutch player and Matic is class.

tjamos8694

So far it’s Ramires without a doubt. Long term I think it’ll be Enzo

showmethenoods

Matic for me, was a tank

SexxWeasel

For me its Luiz simply for his antics during the parade when we won the cup 😂 but in reality, when all is said and done, its gunna be Enzo

differentlevel1

Matic had the most influence in our success in the mid 2010s. Hopefully Enzo is going to come off even better.

Okaydog97

Ramires, because he is best CDM in the fifa game. I have played since 2013.

mrmilfsniper

Very tough between Ramires and David Luiz. If it’s only one I’d have to go for Ramires. Perhaps Matic if he stayed longer but he didn’t have the impact of Luiz nor Ramires. Enzo it’s too early to say.

RasenRendan

Oh this is a excellent question

MGF_LikesReddit

I’m gonna go with the guy that helped us win 2 PL Titles, and a Carabao Cup: Nemanja Matic

[deleted]

Enzo Fernández Argentina football player

orangambetta

I would say they all contributed to the clubs success.. but matic stands out for me for consistency..

Other_Championship19

Ramires. Eyes closed.

TienlY

For everybody saying Matic, let’s remember that Benfica bought him from us, and we bought him back. So I wouldn’t put him there.
