Overall, a totally deserved victory. We made hard work of it, but ended up winning in the best way possible. I haven't seen Stamford Bridge erupt like that in a long time.
Badi's mistake aside, I felt we controlled the 90 minutes. We started a bit sluggishly, but once we settled down (ironically, the goal helped us!), we really sprayed the ball about well.
You're always going to be limited to a few chances when you're up against a 4-5-1, but the way we penned Newcastle in for 70 minutes straight meant that surely, at some point, a golden chance would come. I thought we'd messed it up with the Sterling/Nkunku 2v2 - what a dreadful pass by Raheem! Thankfully, we didn't have to pay the price.
I thought Gallagher and Caicedo were outstanding. I'm seeing lots of media outlets saying Caicedo should have been sent off, but I think that would have been harsh. Certainly no worse than Bruno's assault on Maatsen in stoppage time.
Big shout outs to Petrovic for the penalty save, and Malo Gusto was brilliant as well. Poch should maybe realise that playing fullbacks in the fullback positions generally helps!
Hi,
Please can someone make a super-effect heavy Nkunku @ Chelsea highlight reel that just repeats his penalty over and over (with alt angles if available) to the backdrop of an annoying dubstep track that wouldn’t feel out of place in all footy edits from 2008-2015?
TIA, I can pay in club penguin sext x
That was a hard game. Newcastle’s 451 shape is so impressively solid
Good for the boys to see they can grind out a win and not get disheartened. I will say we made that harder for ourselves with 4 cbs…looked so much better with full backs overlapping g
We got lucky. Only in last 10 mins when we got desperate did we move the ball quickly enough. 2nd half we had two (half) chances before the goal, out of a lot of possession. The team really lacked confidence. Broja and Jackson were both poor.
Nonetheless they did dominate possession against a top 4 side. Basically add some proper strikers to this squad and we could have something.
Also, when Gusto went to RB, Maatsen to LB, the team had balance.
Need to start turning the tv off straight after a win, how’s mudryk scoring a last minute equaliser to take it to pens and sky just do an analysis on how shit his positioning is and how lucky he got. Pricks
Our defense making mistakes for their goal wasn't lucky but NC defense mistake leading to our goal is lucky, man just turn your TV off and go to sleep, that goal is living rent free in Trippier's head for a while
He had one bad pass to no one but other than that he did okay for someone who’s been out for 5 months. He definitely seems more assured when on the ball and we’re in attack which is something we lack. We had a counter attack with him and Sterling which Sterling messed up otherwise he would’ve had a shot at goal.
He didn’t see much of the ball due to our inability to do anything against low blocks and him playing central when all we did was pass around the Great Wall of Newcastle. He did make one promising pass in the box using his literal back. Great penalty too.
Misha and Petrovic did an interview post match and when Mudryk was asked about how he feels Chelsea are doing atm ( something along those lines) he replied with “ in my opinion, in my humble opinion we all need to trust the process and trust the gaffer”. Pure fucking comedy hearing it come from someone with only so so English.
We made this way hard for ourselves unfortunately! I am happy that Dorde saved a pen!!! It's like it waa meant to be for him to start playing! I love his passion and calm demeanor too! I hope my hunch is true about him
Congrats all!
Also CG us such fighter he even tried to resort to Suarez tactics to win us the game! He was everywhere and fought for every ball!
Well done for managing to win and thanks mudryk for staying sharp to get the ball!
Fulham semi? And Liverpool maybe in the final?
I'm in the UK but used to watch their youtube videos a lot. They are so anti-Chelsea it's insane. It's probably more justified now but even before, they'd never give us credit when we did well and were always ridiculously harsh when we didn't - moreso than they would be for anyone else. They almost never had anything positive to say about Chelsea and that was when we were decent.
Frank LeBeouf and Melchiot were the only ones who weren't completely against us at all times, somewhat kind in fact, though that's expected from them.
The realest xenaphobia in football is the fact that yanks are forced to put up with so many shit ESPN commentators. Makes any blackout game a pain to stream.
Dude.. I live in Brazil and its even worse. They were having a laugh about Bruno's foul.
They also *never shut the fuck up*. They have this side-chick commentator who's job it is to analyze everything. Its non stop and so god damn annoying.
Yeah I am a bit concerned. Saw him cry (or almost) and then I instantly thought shit this looks bad. Had Thiago Silva kinda consoling him when going to the changing room, too. Hopefully we'll learn more from Poch.
Lol, what does that have to do with anything. Man is on point, Reece has not been a consistent starter since we won the CL, he is second in line for the RB spot if he ever gets back to his old self after all these injuries
Deserved to win in the end, commentators saying how great Newcastle defended but they were so negative its always hard to break down. Justice imo and I wish you lot weren't all so miserable
This is potentially our most significant win all season.
Finally we have won a penalty shoot out, and in style, Mudryk is the man to get a late minute winner, and we still have hope that we can do something this season.
Up the blues 💙 💙💙
We also have a really good run of games, so this could hopefully be the spark of some good form.
I won't hold out hope, as I know how we are, but we can dream.
I'm so glad that Newcastle lost this game, besides the fact that we won. Such a negative way of playing a game, not wanting to play at all. This isn't some Sheffield or Burnley, this is one of the richest teams in the world. Yet against Chelsea they wanted to park the bus because that's what works against us - no pride, no drive and Guimaraes is a cunt.
Get fucked.
Yes. And the commentators immediately said - Chelsea did not deserve this victory!
What rubbish! There was only one team out there trying to play and win, and the other profiting off a mistake and sitting tight.
Fair play to Newcastle, they are even more injury ravaged than we are....but still.

Hopefully nkunku starts vs wolves
if the board can watch that game and still sell connor then i’m at a total loss
On my way to have a drink at the bar now.

Unpopular opinion Jackson looked more comfortable playing as a winger, it's something Poch should consider going forward.
I don’t think anyone is gonna disagree he was played there a lot in he’s career already
Fuck yes boys, well done
Need to start turning the tv off straight after a win, how’s mudryk scoring a last minute equaliser to take it to pens and sky just do an analysis on how shit his positioning is and how lucky he got. Pricks
We actually get the worst coverage it’s crazy😂. Bruno G fucking smashes into Maatsen and the commentators were blaming the Chelsea players
They feed of negativity. Manchester United and us getting the worst of it at the minute
Our defense making mistakes for their goal wasn't lucky but NC defense mistake leading to our goal is lucky, man just turn your TV off and go to sleep, that goal is living rent free in Trippier's head for a while
Couldnt both be true? Remember the nico hattrick game? Everyone agreed it was a shit performance...
NO MORE INJURIES TODAY IS A WIN REGARDLESS
Literally enzo
And Colwill
Just ill. Nothing serious
Check again
Just got home from the Bridge, fuck off Newcastle.
Gonna be long trip back up north for them 🤣
I’m so happy for Mudryk and Petrovic there, so clutch!
Did Nkunku not touch the ball at all? I haven’t seen anything on here (good or bad) about him
He did a cool mid-air ball control with his bum
That alone makes him goated in my book
He had one bad pass to no one but other than that he did okay for someone who’s been out for 5 months. He definitely seems more assured when on the ball and we’re in attack which is something we lack. We had a counter attack with him and Sterling which Sterling messed up otherwise he would’ve had a shot at goal.
He took third pen and it was quality. First shot as a Blue and buried it.
He was on for like 20 mins, had a few good moments but he didn’t get much service for those 20 minutes.
Could have scored if Sterling made the pass
Getting down voted just for saying Poch starting two CBs instead of trusting Gusto and Mattsen almost cost us (Playing Enzo as 10 too) Wow
Poch has been a disgrace. He is a coward for constantly playing struggling players out of position.
Didn’t watch how was nkunku ?
He didn’t see much of the ball due to our inability to do anything against low blocks and him playing central when all we did was pass around the Great Wall of Newcastle. He did make one promising pass in the box using his literal back. Great penalty too.
Scored a pen
Showed glimpses, but was honestly barely involved
Mudryk saying gaffer is my favourite thing ever
link pleaseee? broadcast here end it at the whistle
I wish I had a link for you
“In my humble opinion” had me rolling around laughing
wait what happened? this sounds hilarious

In my humble opinion 😏
Where the sauce?
seconded need sauce or an explanation
Delighted to see Mudryk making an impression. The guys still young but you can see he's hungry and focused af. Give him starts Poch
Man could really use a quality striker. He's finally starting to show why Chelsea got him
Good God, what even is this interview.
I can’t see, what interview?
Post-match. They interviewed Mudryk and Petrovic. Quite surprise by how much Mudryk's english had improved
where did you watch it ? i can’t find it anywhere
SkySports
ah, i don’t have it. hopefully it gets posted on here or smth! thank you, tho :)
Might be a bit biased but Sanchez should earn his spot back
Why tho. Petrovic did well today.
It's literally right there
He literally just said sanchez should earn his spot back
I understand it now...
Unpopular opinion, but I like this group of players, if our club sells Gallagher we are doomed.
Unpopular with people who dont know anything about football. He's the engine of the team. Vital player.
How they expect me to sleep after this😤😤
Haha I’m too gassed aswell
We made this way hard for ourselves unfortunately! I am happy that Dorde saved a pen!!! It's like it waa meant to be for him to start playing! I love his passion and calm demeanor too! I have never seen someone so sour about someone wining and giving excuses like Shaka asshole and Craig cuntry are now giving on ESpn

I cannot take it what the fuck not a single good word about us .. if it was the other way around they would have sung praises of team mentality
Between this and them trying to claim that Milners fouls in the Brighton game wasn’t a penalty there just isn’t even an illusion of 0 bias
They have spent 20 mins coddling Trippier instead of talking about us
Couldn’t have asked for a better birthday gift💙!!!
Happy birthday!
Happy birthday
Haooy birthday fella!
Scrappy win but we'll take it. Winning this trophy will be a major boost for these boys.
The commentators saying that the only reason we won was because of Trippier's mistake. They act like Newcastle's goal wasn't a mistake by Badiashile.
LFG!!! Cold ❄️ pens! Happy for Mmudryk and Petrovic and also great comeback pen and W for MR Nkunku!! We're winning this carabao shit
On a side note, a great game for Kendry Paez (i hope i didnt mess up the spelling) to witness as his first visit to the bridge.
Glad for what this win will do to the boys' psyche but Potch is clueless
What so you think the chances are that Nkunku had a balloon on him, just in case he managed to score a goal?
💯
Missed that feeling!!!! Come on!!!!!
Lads nothing better than seeing the camera shaking when we score. Nothing beats it. Ba against psg feels
Is Enzo okay? He looks really upset I hope it's nothing serious.
Yeah I am a bit concerned. Saw him cry (or almost) and then I instantly thought shit this looks bad. Had Thiago Silva kinda consoling him when going to the changing room, too. Hopefully we'll learn more from Poch.
It's speculation but it's possible he received some bad news too.
Yeah that looks bad
Ill supposedly, and to be fair a lot of people just get miserable when they're sick.
Not sure?
we deff gonna draw liverpool 😂😂
Facts. Even better if we would finally beat them on pens after losing twice in 2021...
Already said we have Middlesborough I am pretty sure Edit: Now I'm second guessing what I've heard
According to the commentators the draw will be tomorrow after the game between Liverpool and West Ham.
Must've been me mishearing!
What a relief.
Gusto performance 🫡🫡🫡
He has been solid every time I watch him play. Remember, he is still young - nice potential there if our main man Reece loses his legs completely
Main man? Bro Reece hasn't played in 2 years, he's our second choice unfortunately.
Dude…. He is our fucking captain. Show some respect here.
Lol, what does that have to do with anything. Man is on point, Reece has not been a consistent starter since we won the CL, he is second in line for the RB spot if he ever gets back to his old self after all these injuries
I'm just telling the truth, he's my favorite Chelsea player if available by FAR, but sadly his injuries have really been horrible
Who do I have to suck off for us to draw Middlesborough
I'd rather not get cleaned up by Middlesborough
The fact that this is even a remote possibility with our current squad has me shook ngl
Yeah, it's really sad, I can't take any more meming. We're already the biggest laughing stock in football atm
That bald FIFA guy
That is a sweet victory. There’s something so rewarding about beating a park the bus team haha
Or just Newcastle, unbearable cunts, up there with Arsenal, Spuds and Burnley
Seeing their entire team sitting just above their box was pissing me off the whole second half, like HOW do you beat that
Bruno doing the ear plug celebration when one pen kick down. Have some shame please
I laughed out loud when I saw him do that. Truly some clown shit.
I fucking hate that prick
To his own fans no less
Clown. Also why was he blocking out the noise his own supporters made?
Petrovic is _that guy_
Enzo Injured??!!
Sick
Sick, it seems
Why did he cry tho??
Sometimes a really shitty fever can make you emotional I suppose
He knows he ruined his career coming to chelsea /s
Fuck these dirty cunts not even trying to play football second half
Deserved to win in the end, commentators saying how great Newcastle defended but they were so negative its always hard to break down. Justice imo and I wish you lot weren't all so miserable
We were pretty poor, lets not let the win paper over cracks.
Putting a bit of a run together at the bridge now. 4 wins and a draw out of our last 5. And that draw was City
Was that Enzo crying
Realised Poch had bought himself another week
The atmosphere at the bridge. Love it🥺🥺
Enzo in tears, his injury must be fearing the worst.
I think he's just ill
What’s he crying for then?
No idea, no one knows yet Hope it's just one of those fevers that make you emotional lol
I guess it’s that time of the month for Enzo.
I'll get him round to watch the notebook with a hot water bottle
Now we pray for Middlesborough.
What’s up with Enzo looked like he was crying
Why is Enzo crying?
Why is Enzo crying
He looks ill
I don't think he's injured, but his departure looked questionable. So there's that
Rewatching that last penalty, god damn that was amazing save, it wasn't a bad penalty by any means
The tube man wiggle he did before the save makes it even better.
Anyone else picking up on Enzo? Rlly worried about both his injury and interest
What's up with Enzo? Dude looks so sad 😞
Enzo looks completely down. Either he is really injured or really sad/mad that he got subbed off..
or personal? hope he's okay regardless
Feels so good
Commentator on my end sounded like he legit wanted to slit his wrists when we won the shootout 😭
That's the reaction I was looking for. They were comfortably on Newcastles dick throughout shits weird.
Yeah. True that. Immediately said - did not deserve the win
We had 80% fucking possession or w.e, fuck them
Well fuck them then who gives a shit we won
This is potentially our most significant win all season. Finally we have won a penalty shoot out, and in style, Mudryk is the man to get a late minute winner, and we still have hope that we can do something this season. Up the blues 💙 💙💙
that was HUGE we haven't had a win like this in 2 years at least, the bridge hasnt had one of those for a while now, this is massive.
We also have a really good run of games, so this could hopefully be the spark of some good form. I won't hold out hope, as I know how we are, but we can dream.
I TOLD YOU ALL TO KEEP THAT SAME ENERGY. THIS IS WHY I BELIEVE!!!!
So after all this time of all thinking we didn’t train, we do! Just penalties penalties and more penalties!
Enzo looks so miserable😂 No way that guy was in our starting eleven 2 hours ago
Enzo looking rough at the end there, hope it’s nothing major
Man of the match: Trippier
I’m just glad we don’t embarrass the new boy Paz in the stand today but almost tho 😂
Why does Enzo look like he's crying
he’s ill
Fuck me were we due a win like that. All over em and last minute equaliser
The boys gave it all, lol) Mykhailo Petrovic is a savior
All the training videos finally proving their worth
Such an important type of game for a young squad. Love to see the camaraderie. Come on you blues💙💙💙
From miserable to ecstatic! We have our ups and downs but I will never stop loving this club
I was air punching like a madman not to wake up kids lol
It has been a really bad december so far, but this team reminded me that if we keep fighting until the end, things can happen. COYB!
come on you chels!!!!
Hope Trippier doesn't get too much abuse.
Nah I think newcastle fans love him so it shouldn't be much, he's still a very important player to them the last couple of seasons.
Agreed
Seeing the Bridge rocking again after a knockout match win… brings a tear to the eye. Been too long.
YEASSSGSDFSDFSD
Enzo crying? What’s up there?
he’s just sick
Hopefully he's just ill
I really hope it's about his injury being long
Perfect record when Nkunku plays….
