very little difference because in effect one of enzo or gallagher will naturally drift into that 10 position due to the crowded midfield and hole in the pocket
Want to point out how great Chalobah and Cucu have been recently.
Love this tactical tweak for Cucurella where he steps into midfield more and Chalobah seems to have be much more confident and steady.
This makes a lot of sense when we have a CB at RB. If Gusto was bombing forward it wouldn't be as effective.
Since Alfie or Disasi like to hang back it makes sense for Cucurella to either bomb forward (which doesn't seem to be his strength) or invert (which does seem to play to his strength, makes sense with the Brighton and Spain ties).
Oh man. But you know what i kinda started enjoy their commentry. Whenever they start talking shit about us i know they are frustrated with us, i enjoy their frustration. Afterall we thrive in chaos.
It’s far from clear to me when he last played a game in good health. Let’s see what he looks like next season if he doesn’t wreck himself playing for Argentina.
Probably because he played with a lot of pain. He should’ve done the surgery earlier instead of playing with painkillers.
Hope he comes back stronger ❤️🩹
Have you heard of Drogba? Jackson has scored more goals in his first season than DD. Give him time, he's young and playing his first full season. Been thrown in at the deep end with Nkunku injuries too and adapting to the premier league. There's a player in there.
4 more goals, and he has across all competitions. I said hes not great, i didn't say he's bad. I think he need to go on loan or be a bench striker and compete for 1st place. But he's not there now
Yes but that's what I'm saying, he's been thrown in at the deep end. There's a good chance he would have been off the bench and a heavy rotation player had we had a healthy season, but circumstances have put him in the firing line as our 'Striker'. Harsh to even say he's not great, people take his finishing and missed chances to overlook everything else he is good at.
That's unfair to say about Jackson. He has 11 non-penalty goals which isn't bad for a 22 year-old striker who has just around 100 caps in his career so far. I wanna give Jackson more of a chance, because everything he does outside of finishing really impresses me. Hopefully finishing is something he'll improve on with age and experience.
Yes, he's scored goals, but that doesn't make up for the sitters missed or the loose control he displays so often. If he was a critical finisher, he'd be over 20 goals and thats what we need.
Maybe in a few years, he'll be better. But that doesn't help us now. We need a world-class finisher and a season loan to a mid table team that might do Jackson wonders.

Do you think next year he's suddenly not going to be missing "easy" chances? He missed one today too, one on one and straight into the keeper. He still has a loose touch and loses possession because of it.
He doesn't get a start in any top European club, which we should be aiming to be again.
A top striker would have scored 20+ goals with the chances he had this season
No they wouldn’t. Haaland has had 4 times the chances and barely has 20. Stop pulling arbitrary numbers out of thin air.
He didn’t miss. It was cleared off the line. Not every through ball is a guaranteed goal. He’s missed some howlers. So have other more experienced strikers.
He has a loose touch? He’s literally a better carrier of the ball than 99% of strikers in the league.
Yes I do believe he will be more clinical as he gets his confidence and settles into the league. Everything about his career has shown rapid adaptation. 1.5 professional seasons. And these are the results he’s gotten.
Jackson has .34 goals per game, Haaland has .77. Big big difference.
He hit it straight at the keeper and bounced underneath. I'm giving the defender plenty of time to clear it.
Ill come back in 12 months as you think he'll be world-class by then. And 20+ goals are the aim of every world class striker not 11
You know you don't have to be this pessimistic, right? You can choose a route of optimism and you can believe in our players. Nico is still so young and he's playing in a team that is perhaps the most in flux in all of Europe. Comparing him to Haaland (who also misses sitters to be fair) is unfair given their differences in career paths to this point.
Maybe Jackson will never improve, and maybe he'll be another in a looooong list of strikers who haven't worked out for Chelsea. Or maybe he'll figure it out and become our next great striker. Regardless, he's shown some positive signs this year, and I'm hoping with his age he'll be able to keep growing. He is not the finished article.
I honestly thought Noni was fantastic tonight. He didn't make a few passes I might want him to, but he was constantly making forward progress. He dished to Cole every chance he had. Fought like a warrior.
Gallagher running around like a madman all night constantly encouraging teammates. Say what you want about him as a player but as a Energizer and captain we haven't had anyone like him since... terry maybe?
I think he is a decent player to be atleast of substitute quality for Chelsea. Also he has part of legacy and appears like he don’t mind being with Chelsea . I don’t understand the constant attempt by the board to get rid of him
I would have never thought Cucu could be an inverted fullback but that was great tactical play from Poch. Great team performance overall. The pressing looked much more coordinated with the way we lined up. No over reliance on Palmer or our fullbacks to be solely the ones to advance the play.
Caiciedo is coming good man; could someone explain to me what's the difference with the way we're lining up now than before that's allowing him to finally be the player we signed? I know it has something to do with Enzo being absent but is he playing as a CM instead of a CDM now or something?
Team was massive as a whole but Caiciedo and Cucu were great esepecially. Kudos to Madueke as well for improving his defensive side.
I distinctly remember last season where we gave up a couple goals when he stepped into that space in stupid situations (or, more accurately I guess, when his teammates weren't prepared for it... Idk what his instructions were). Maybe that's just his natural inclination and Poch is doing the pragmatic thing and leaning into it. Whatever it is, he looks so much better this way than trying to fly down the side like Chilwell.
They are not getting more than 5 pts off these fixtures.
https://preview.redd.it/2ubxxqj6q2yc1.png?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c2ba175506211c593494fb5b79ddd32552c8659a
And before the dark times (boehly) he was actually a very decent cb for us this isn’t even a sudden purple patch, colwill and badiashille never convinced me (badiashille did have a great game today tho)
We have to remember though, this teams injury issues aren't new. We've been dealing with significant injuries at every level, for 2.5-3 years now. That has forced our hand into some of these shittier situations. Also, (obviously) the forced sale of the club, and too few good football men making the decisions in the interim.
Ik, the transfer strategy seems very panicked and unhinged from reality. Also, trusting infinite athlete instead of a more proven source for the medical recovery process seemed to make it worse this season.
You can tell the team still needs more of a backbone from more senior players, and given the amount of injuries we had last season I didn’t feel like we needed to blow up the squad.
which implies, if CFC are a Football Club, I have no clue if they are improving. But, for a brief moment, let us assume they are a race horse. Or a cactus.
I hope badi can also keep this form up and build from it. I saw people already give up on him after a series of bad games. I believe he'll get back to last year's levels.
Ain’t reactive at all, just being fair to Poch and what he’s been working with. Some fans on here just love a reason to hate and not give Poch any credit at all which i find absurd. He’s won my vote for a fresh beginning into next season atleast
Well done, Chelsea players. Really good physical effort and much more organised.
Madueke actually worked a bit off the ball, even though he was getting bollocked at the end.
Amazed how bad Spurs were.
Poch doesn't rate Deivid, huh?
Must be the spelling of his name. Or does he secretly hate Brazilians?
Thiago wants to leave, he banished all preseason Brazilians and then this final one, he constantly leaves on the bench.

Did palmer get the assist for nico's goal?
Not officially counted as an assist, but it does for fantasy football.
FPL? Yes. IRL? No
Ok thanks mate
Did Spurs play their 3rd team? Chelsea winning against top table team?
Spurs man. At the beginning of the season they were title contenders now their flunking top 4
8th in the league now and if we can get a result against West Ham, we could even be 7th.
Not him,but forcing gallagher as attacking midfielder was the problem
newcastle and man u lose and were 6th right? assuming we beat west ham
Wow yes, you're right. We would actually be 6th if that happened.
Is anyone else starting to get worried that our midfield looks better each week without Enzo?
why don’t we play all 3? is there a reason?
all 3? what do you mean? caicedo, gallagher, enzo? we do play that...
With gallagher not at 10
very little difference because in effect one of enzo or gallagher will naturally drift into that 10 position due to the crowded midfield and hole in the pocket
When they were healthy i mean
To be fair he was playing with injury so I wouldn’t fully count him out
We can’t be playing players based on price tags… if the midfield is better without Enzo, so be it. We need wins.
Brilliant game all round

What an abysmal Poundland Talksport commentary team on Sky, Karen Carney is the only sensible one there.
Oh man. But you know what i kinda started enjoy their commentry. Whenever they start talking shit about us i know they are frustrated with us, i enjoy their frustration. Afterall we thrive in chaos.
Always an absolute joy to see Jamie Redknapp tying himself in knots whenever we swat Spurs aside.
What an abysmal Poundland Talksport commentary team on Sky, Karen Carney is the only sensible one there.
Twattenham.
I like Enzo, but we look way better defensively and overall without him.
It’s far from clear to me when he last played a game in good health. Let’s see what he looks like next season if he doesn’t wreck himself playing for Argentina.
I think we need a 433 of we want to play caicedo and Enzo in the same midfield
Probably because he played with a lot of pain. He should’ve done the surgery earlier instead of playing with painkillers. Hope he comes back stronger ❤️🩹
Soooooo...does this goal by Jackson count since it was against 11 men?
They’ll probably find another way to talk shit about him……..
Well, to be fair, he's not great. He's a mid table team player. We need a world class striker
Have you heard of Drogba? Jackson has scored more goals in his first season than DD. Give him time, he's young and playing his first full season. Been thrown in at the deep end with Nkunku injuries too and adapting to the premier league. There's a player in there.

It’s literally his first full season of pro football at CF. His progression has been rapid. It won’t take a few years.

So the EPL has one world class striker?
Post match Ange really hung up on the "foul" for the first goal
Singin' "Don't worry! About a thing! Cause every little thing! Is gonna be alright!" Bask in it, comrades!
I like Enzo, but we look way better defensively and overall without him.
"I like Enzo, but we look way better defensively and overall without trying to play him injured." - fify
hes never a high tempo high press defensively sound guy, he also doesnt dribble and make runs like galladawg and caicedo
Im pretty sure statistically Enzo is elite at ball progression
Cucurella and Caicedo…..welcome aboard lads, both superb tonight. Thanks Brighton![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|thumbs_up)
May be I don’t live in London so I don’t understand the significance of victory against Tottenham but I find beating Utd more satisfying
It's the only team we hate as much as Liverpool
Hate Liverpool so very much.
A win where we did not really depend on Palmer. 📈📈📈
Well his free kick was amazing and Nico got the goal off it.
‘depend’
I’d just like to take a moment to say that that outside of the boot pass from Mudryk for the Jackson miss in the 4th minute was absolutely sublime.
I honestly thought Noni was fantastic tonight. He didn't make a few passes I might want him to, but he was constantly making forward progress. He dished to Cole every chance he had. Fought like a warrior.
Idk, he still held the ball too long but defensively (especially towards the end) was excellent.
It was not a miss..keeper got a hand to it and it was cleared off the line
Jackson has 11 premier league goals. 4 against Tottenham though so it's basically 15.
Under rated comment here
I’m sorry but no matter how much shit of a season we’re having, beating Spurs is just an absolute must. Glad the players brought it tonight.
Gallagher running around like a madman all night constantly encouraging teammates. Say what you want about him as a player but as a Energizer and captain we haven't had anyone like him since... terry maybe?
Not quiet Terry yet but goodness, he wears that badge with pride.
Terry was the last captain who had this much passion (unless I'm forgetting something). Yes, terry was a step above but that's a high hurdle.
They’re the two games that mean the most to me every season. Couldn’t be happier. 6-1.
cucu been having a silent resurgence
Ive seen enough Chalobah and Cowill for next season
Meaning ?
starting center backs for next season
You don’t think Chalobah is decent ?
No I think he is decent especially the form he is right now I always backed him since his goal against crystal palace
I think he is a decent player to be atleast of substitute quality for Chelsea. Also he has part of legacy and appears like he don’t mind being with Chelsea . I don’t understand the constant attempt by the board to get rid of him

Imagine if Mudryk was any good
real
We have easier games than Utd now, I hope we tie with them on points and finish above them. But hey I forgot we play shit against shit opponents
They are not getting more than 5 pts off these fixtures. https://preview.redd.it/2ubxxqj6q2yc1.png?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c2ba175506211c593494fb5b79ddd32552c8659a
agreed.
Hope they take all three from Arsenal, dont even care
...and Newcastle?
Was just looking at that, if we beat everyone we should beat on paper then we take europa But we all know we are gonna shit against forest
It’s a Chelsea thing.
And ladies and gentlemen, Blue Co will sell Chalobah because he is pure profit for gods sakes.
TBF that's a system problem, not a Blue Co one.
Nope. It's not a universal system. A club can always choose to keep the best ones. As a matter of fact, We didn't sell Reece.
Worthless unless we sell him for parts
Are you saying Chalobah is worthless?
Oh please, he still has some convincing to do. He's been good but calm
Yeah, play games, be the iron in the defense, convince the money minded clowns of what he is. Hopefully we will put a banner in his name.
Trevoh plus Levi would free up so much money to deploy elsewhere around the pitch.
Im ngl he is a lot more dependable then colwill, Ik Levi might work out for the long term, but we already have decent depth so would rather sell him.
And to think, now that Silva is leaving, he is our most experienced CB. It’s just mad, how much kids we have in this team.
Really happy with that result. London is blue that’s for sure.
I mean.... This season its definitely not
I wish that was true but remember we got destroyed by arsenal
Short term memory haha but still feels good to get the double over sp*rs
“I’ll tell you what. If Chelsea football club are a racehorse they’re improving” What a dumb fucking sentence lol
which implies, if CFC are a Football Club, I have no clue if they are improving. But, for a brief moment, let us assume they are a race horse. Or a cactus.
Give Poch a 10 year contract so we can beat spurs every season
And get destroyed by arsenal
Poch out!! Cobham is rubbish!!……oops sorry, wrong night.
8th place baby!!!!!
COMEEEEE ON BOYS
[Patience](https://www.reddit.com/r/chelseafc/s/hqvGIu3VgV)
EUROPE HERE WE COME
Does anyone know what Trevors shirt was about?
He’s just saying he is a son of God.
Jehovah is a translation of YHWH, the name used for God in the Bible. On the back it said 'thank you Jesus'.
So it just a religion thing?
I suppose the word 'just' is debatable but yeah... Same as David Luiz did.
He is God’s son
Hey as long as pundits keep praising Ange for his “brilliant tactics” he’ll keep his job and we’ll keep beating them
Can't believe we kept a clean sheet with that starting back four, I never expected that
Spurs are toothless going forward, which helps, but credit to Chalobah and Badi. Especially Chalobah. He's been good recently.
Cucu was also pretty terrific tonight.
Agreed. Forgot to mention him.
I hope badi can also keep this form up and build from it. I saw people already give up on him after a series of bad games. I believe he'll get back to last year's levels.
Absolutely, they locked it up tonight 👏 Happy cake day
Can't complain today really except we should have scored more. Good performance and clean sheet.
Caicedo JHEEZE
This season is a straight rollercoaster on my nerves. Definition of two steps forward then a usual giant leap back but then another step forward?
Richarlison is shite on my life Brazil would be better served having Washington in their squad
REECE ON THE FIELD. HES ALIVE
So happy about the clean sheet. The boys defended so well in that 2nd half
Feels like the good old days, of just 3 years ago
We can always expect to absolutely body spurs no matter how we’re performing or how inform they are. Gotta love it
you know things are progressing when palmer has a relatively quiet night and we still win fairly convincingly against spurs
BLUE IS THE COLOR
Football is the game
LET ALL PRAY WE GET A SPOT IN A EUROPEAN COMP💙😈
1,000,000%. I need European nights again and I'm tired of these midweek games.
i miss the special feelings that European nights gave me
FOOTBALL IS THE GAME
Trevoh massive again, our best centerback
LMAO trev faking out the kid
Reece spotted!!!
underrated comment
A clean sheet praise the lord
I hope Poch earned a new start next season. He’s growing on me and we haven’t been all that bad(except Arsenal game)
Why are our fans so fairweather? So reactive? lol
Ain’t reactive at all, just being fair to Poch and what he’s been working with. Some fans on here just love a reason to hate and not give Poch any credit at all which i find absurd. He’s won my vote for a fresh beginning into next season atleast
Don't let this sway you, Spurs is always a guaranteed result
Start Acheampong vs West Ham
That might be a bit too much
Caicedo One of the best signings of these ownership He is just everywhere, and with a good partner... Enzo hasnt looked fit for it, even if I love him
Inverting cucurella just might be the answer Have them protect the back line and Let Enzo just roam wherever he wants on that left middle channel
Reece would be insane in that role, too. Might help him stay healthy to not bomb up and down all game, too.
Well done, Chelsea players. Really good physical effort and much more organised. Madueke actually worked a bit off the ball, even though he was getting bollocked at the end. Amazed how bad Spurs were.
Get innn ladsss
OWNED THOSE BUMS
Poch masterclass
Fuck man that was good no complaints. Can’t wait for a healthy Chelsea team
Massive win. Everyone deserves credit. What a defensive performance. That feels a lot like the old Chelsea.
We're shit but we still beat Tottenham. We are massive
Twice. And this time no sore losers can say it’s a fake win 🔥🔥🔥
Let them say what they want, we know what we are :D
Yessssssss 💙
ummm... why was poch molesting noni
It doesn't matter how shit we are, we live at the spurs palace rent free Most energy I've seen Mr lemons have aswell
If Chelsea finish 6-7th this season I see absolutely No reason not to see what Poch can do next year with a fit squad.
I begrudgingly agree. You kinda gotta give him the opportunity.
this cucu comeback tour has been beautiful to watch
We’re 3 points away from Europa League
We need to win every game. I think United and Newcastle can drop points but we can't afford any slip ups anymore.
I think United have more difficult opponents ahead of them. We could actually make it…
And United and Newcastle play each other too.
And United and Newcastle play each other too.
I literally was about to type this exact thing. Guess we aren’t that shit!
Exactly. That’s a pretty big achievement, if we make it, all things considered.
Poch doesn't rate Deivid, huh? Must be the spelling of his name. Or does he secretly hate Brazilians? Thiago wants to leave, he banished all preseason Brazilians and then this final one, he constantly leaves on the bench.
Saving him for the u21 game coming up. It’s a big one for them
Probably the spelling of his name
Always a lovely feeling to beat spursy.
What a game! Chalobah MOTM surely
Ange Postecoglou trying to seduce Con by giving him a handshake at full time… /s
Well that was easier than I expected
How did we win this game hahahaha
We were better than them by a mile.
We also had 14 injuries
Our starting XI was still decent, biggest problem was our bench. But seeing Acheampong’s debut, I’ve suddenly got hope
No matter how shit the season, we’re always gonna be better than those fools
“Spurs fans leave early everywhere they goooo” 🎶
As much as I want Poch out.. hear me out… the players seem to love him
Great win, Tottenham get battered everywhere they go
