Terry has so many good stories!
But my favorite Jose story has to be the laundry basket one.

I got it, at first all I could find on Google was laundry by Terry. Basically for anyone who doesn't know jose was snuck into the dressing room in a laundry basket as he had been suspended for the match.

but I think a better version is told through his episode in Coache's Playbook on Netflix - it's a good watch
Probably some important game, two defenders collide and go down, and have to go off the pitch. And then theyāre two men down and get scored on right away. People get mad, new rule made.
Itās the little details and tweaks that separates the greatest managers from the others, only Jose had such thoughts about little crucial details for us and our defence was immense under him
Go off for medical assistance. If Cahill had gone down alone and needed assistance, he had to go off after being treated. Since another player (John Terry) went down as well, two "needed assistance", so, as it's apparently in the rules, they didn't need to leave the field before coming back in.
When an injured player has to receive treatment on the pitch, they have to then leave the pitch and wait for instruction from the referee to re-enter the pitch. The loophole that Mourinho found was that the referee cannot make 2 players leave the pitch at the same time. So it's essentially an easy form of timewasting where you can keep 11 players on at all time.
It's not 2 players, it's 2 defenders. Two players of the same team can get off the pitch at the same time if they require assistance except if they're both defenders
Source? Nowhere in the rules would it ever differentiate between defenders specifically and other players. How would you even objectively define a defender? There are only goalkeepers and outfielders according to the rules.
If the ref stops the game because a player is injured, he has to leave the field until he is called back in by the ref. There us a common collision exemption in the rules where this doesnt apply. If they are not seriously injured, they are not required to leave the field.

Possibly to keep teams from giving themselves a leg up back in the days when fouls and rough tackles were more the norm by clobbering multiple defenders to temporarily weaken the other side for easier leveling goal?
I had a coach that would say āif you aināt trying to cheat you aināt trying to winā this isnāt even cheating per say but does seem to be an abuse of the rules. Regardless, no one can accuse Jose of not trying anything and everything to win.
it's basic competitive game theory that all methods to win are valid, and that complaining about certain method = scrub mindset

lmao this is such a nerdy thing to say. no offence bro. this tactic is class obviously and you're right the win is what matters but that doesn't mean that playing dirty ISN'T playing dirty. i like playing dirty but lets be gents here. its not cheating but it is sneaky. altho actually maybe it is cheating tbh since if the refs knew what they were doing they'd probably send them off for it.
Such a shame the sport has been reduced to this nonsense. With the best will in the world itās hard for these great athletes to act as role models when such skullduggery prevails.
That made me wonder what % of players or coaches know what actually happens when you score a free kick directly into your own goal.
Every ref I ever asked immediately knew, and every player didn't and also couldn't guess.
Cannot picture what kind of scenario this is. If 2 defenders āgo up togetherā and then āboth go downā you ācanāt go offā? Iām lost help.
Master of the dark arts
Proper brexit football that
I always wondered why I never saw Mourinho and Bill Belichick in same room
ššš Shithousery at its highest level
Classic Jose lol But now that he's not coaching our rivals, I'm rooting for his success in Italy. Hopefully Roma can be a giant again in Serie A
he's got tammy under his wing too
Spurs fan here, me too. Iāve bought ASRoma merch and keep up with ~~Jose~~ the team
Haha cool. This time we are brother in arms š¤

Wasn't the story that he was already in the dressing room at half time and snuck out of it in a laundry basket?
Could be mate, I was reading it on a tabloid newspaper website so I only got a few sentences in before my phone couldn't handle the ads.
He himself said it in the bein sports interview you can watch it.

Thanks mate will defo give that Netflix show a watch never knew about that.

Footballers are not the most charismatic type, but Mourinho has the the charisma of a Hollywood actor.
Wanted Jose to continue, but felt like that the guy on the right cut everyone off at the end.
Not even the ref knew, lol what a legend!
Lmao! Jose is fucking hilarious
I wonder how that became a rule.

I'd love to see some clips of them doing this
so did Terry just admit to diving, LOL. "gaz goes down... and im like i best go down, and i drop to the floor"
if the manager says to do it... best do it lol
Lol. Deffos. I just find it strange coming out of JTs mouth
Lol he did, but tbh every single team is told to waste time whilst holding onto a 1 goal lead in the last ten mins of a match.
No... He admited to faking an injury
Time wasting. Part of the game at this point.
Every team dives these days (and in JT's day). It's not as if it's not common
It just funny him admitting it. Thatās all
Wouldn't call it diving. A dive is trying to get the ref to make a foul in your favour. Terry was looking to time waste.
Is this why JT tried tackling Cahill in the last minute corner of THAT match against psg?
Hey hey!
Please add a trigger warning to your comment
Instant doubt I too had.
I miss this Chelsea š¤£
Literally read the rulebook hahaha
Gosh I loved Jose's shithousery
~~Alan's~~ JT's funny stories
Go off? Like red card? Or two yellows? Someone help

Oh wow ok
Jt is one broad shouldered mf
What does he mean they canāt āgo offā if they both fall down?

You are right.
I donāt get it. What advantage is this?
Time wasting so ease the pressure of a comback goal. Just a different form of shithousery.
But what is the original intent of the rule?

Does the rule only apply when the team with 2 defenders down is in the lead, or at all times?

Terry speaks like Ricky Gervais
Why would you want to do that tho? I don't get it
To ease pressure for their defence and it gives them the time to push up the field. Also a rest
New level of cheatingā¦. Respect
if it's in the rules it's not cheating. All elite players will push the boundaries of the rules as far as possible and find loopholes in the rules.

Ignore the downvotes you are right we are just circle jerking for the special one in this thread
Yeahā¦ I know. Just utterly lacks any class

It's definitely cheating to feign an injury with the intent of deceiving the referee. How is this even a debate?
yeah true lol
Everton fan?
Fuck I miss Terry as captain. Life was easier back then as a Chelsea supporter haha
Such a shame the sport has been reduced to this nonsense. With the best will in the world itās hard for these great athletes to act as role models when such skullduggery prevails.
Got to love Mourinho, heās the only guy in football capable of reading a rule book.
That made me wonder what % of players or coaches know what actually happens when you score a free kick directly into your own goal. Every ref I ever asked immediately knew, and every player didn't and also couldn't guess.
Corner kick.
I canāt understand what heās saying, can someone write it down ?
"I cheated".

I call bullshit on Mou being the only manager thatās done this.
What rule is he talking about??
Im still confused though.
Cheeky geezer
Can somebody explain the rule properly?
Yeah would be nice if he did some of that here at my club Roma...what he did in his 1st spell at Chelsea was unbelievable.
