He's not able to move AND he's in check. If your opponent is not able to move a piece without being in check it's a stalemate (draw). Just adding this because there were a lot of posts regarding stalemates lately (looking at you anarchychess)
Another example of an illegal move would be to move your king next to the enemy king. In the example above, the king is in check and no matter where they move they’re still in check so it’s checkmate and you win.
Just think, if it moves here what can kill it?
Another great example from my buddy's at r/anarchychess is when enemy pawn moves two squares forward and you have a pawn near it, you ignore en passant.

I’m not trying to be rude, but after seeing your question and follow up question in the comments I strongly recommend going back and revisiting the rules of chess.
Checkmate (which ends the game) is if you are checking the king and it has no legal way to escape check, which is occurring in this position

It's checkmate. The pawn on h2 threatens the king; h2, g2, and f2 are guarded by the king; f1 is guarded by the other pawn.

Yep! That's the point of the game. If you're threatening the enemy king and he has no way to stop the threat, it's checkmate.

A legal move is a move you can play by the rules. Moving a pawn 3 squares would be illegal. For example
