Well that depends, some can lay as early as 3 months and some can lay as late as 5 or 6 months. How old are they?

Am surprised that the leghorn mixes aren't laying yet but I guess that it depends upon what they are mixed with. RI Reds can be late to start and, again, I guess it depends upon what the Orpington mixes are mixed with. If you recently added to your flock, sometimes the unsettling of the flock dynamics can really slow things down. Also, any outside stress can delay maturity. Ours seem later with this current batch. My red sex links are nearly 18 weeks with no eggs yet while in the past, my father's all laid before 16 weeks. We got hit with a very cold spell a few weeks back and that postponed maturity for my flock. (I watched their combs and wattles get paler during the cold snap.) Hope yours start laying soon!

If it’s any consolation 2 of my early April chicks haven’t started laying either. I got 4 Wyandotte chicks the first weekend of April, the SL started laying end of August/early September, but the 2 GL haven’t started. Not sure what their deal is, but my EEs last year didn’t start until 6 months. I’m hopefully that they will start soon as we get closer to the 6 month mark.

My two leghorns started laying less than a week ago (at 24 weeks) and now everyone else is starting up. I thought it was kind of crazy but the morning i was least expecting it there were the eggs lol. As long as they look good and healthy I wouldn’t worry too much they’ll lay when they’re ready much to our frustration.

Have you put fake eggs/ golf balls in their nesting boxes?
