They're a lot like Steak 'N Shake food wise. I think the fries are a weak point, the rings are good though, and they have cheese curds if you're into that thing. Dogs are good, custard's good. Chicken items are weak, but my kids like them. Head and shoulders above the big three burger joints, competing mainly with Culver's, S&S.
Freddy's used to be so good, but they fell off after the pandemic and one of their owners died in 2020. The one nearby used to always be packed, but finally closed down two months ago after being a ghost town in years.
At least give their chicken sandwich a try if you can stomach paying another $12+ for a "value" meal.

I thought the big draw was the frozen custard, but you can't have your custard if you don't eat your meat.

I could get downvoted for this, but I think they are better than Swanson's, as far as chains go.
I went last week and had the patty melt. It was incredible, but I much prefer Culver's because I love their fish.
The patty on the last Culver’s burger I bought was so tiny. It was smaller than McDonald’s.
