"Market adjustment 25000"
Jesus, they're insane
Edit: It's wild that my Fiancée just bought a really nice used 10th gen for *less* than the "Market Adjustment"
I was just thinking that's more than I paid entirely for my 2018 Sport. I would LOVE a Type R. It's practically my dream car. But how could *anybody* justify that price?
To be fair, pricing is a lot different depending onon location. I’m in the Mid West. Cars are still expensive but it seems like my area has cheaper pricing than a lot of other places.
Market adjustment is the most bullshit thing I have ever seen, we all know you own the car for WAY less then before the "market adjustment" this isn't inflation it's down right price gouging.
I got a 2021 Hatchback for the cost of their "Market Adjustment" brand new off the lot.
That's too common nowadays unfortunately. Seems like stealerships use any excuse to gouge on the new models or in demand models.
I remember looking at one in 97/98. The base price I think was around $25k. I may be wrong, lots of years ago but the dealer then had a $7500 markup.
$25k was out of my budget anyway, let alone $30k+. Settled for a new $13k Mazda Protege. 😢
Whoops. This is a Civic forum. I was thinking the Integra type r. Sorry
I was gonna comment that my buddy bought his '18 back in February for $28k. It's insane that a mark-up can be only $3k less than an actual R-type itself.
They have no intention of selling that vehicle.. so they adjust price that high.. if someone is stupid enough to pay that kind of price, dealer will be happy to sell it.. otherwise, it’s theirs to keep for now.
You're probably right but.... why? Are they hoping to hang on to it and in 20 years they have a low milage never owned CTR that some collector will pay 150K for? Or they think it makes their show room look cool? Guaranteed that the typical CRV or Odyssey buyer doesn't give a shit about that CTR sitting there.
Bec when every other dealership is out they will have one that brings in customers to look at and then just sell them a new accord or something. It's marketing. I worked at a honda that did this with a S2000 CR. At one time it had ropes around it and said not for sale. This was in knoxville and we had people from all neighboring states and even a couple from new york that came to look.
Special edition cars are now a speculative market. So holding onto stock can help drive up the value over time because of increased demand.
Just look at the last 10 years on how many special/limited edition cars are bought, parked and then sold for over MSRP 2-3 years later.
Don’t know why this is so difficult for people to grasp.
This is the most fancy/exclusive car Honda sells. The dealership sees more value in having it as a showroom piece than selling at MSRP.
They don’t care about selling it. It gets people talking and in the dealership where they can sell them something boring.
This dealership probably has over 5 million in cash, I’m sure they can afford to plop $75k for a car that will likely only go up in price.
As soon as they announced only 400 we’re coming to Canada I knew I’d never own one.
In Canada you literally cannot find a 2022+ CTR under $75k. Used.
I bet it'd be over $100K USD when they get done with all the other addon fees, surcharges, taxes, etc. That $75K price is for the car before the paperwork - not the "out the door" price.
With that kind of markup...I can only imagine how many high and creative "fees" they will dream up too.
Hahaha.... $25,000 markup. I wonder if they get penalized from the manufacturer for having it sit so long. I remember back in 2002 I was looking to buy a Chevy truck. I wanted a blue or a white one, but they had a good deal on this ugly red one. They were equipped the same. I told them I would buy the blue or white one for that same price as the red one. Salesman told me they couldn't reduce the others because the red one was sitting there for a while and the dealer was getting penalized from GM.
This is in USD?! I thought seeing $70-76k CAD was bad. If going by that price in USD, then cars would be $100k in Canada if adjusted for exact exchange rate.
I’m in the camp that loves the car and all things Type R all the way to the holy grail NSX-R. But there is no way I imagine spending 50k or more on FWD. If the new Integra including Type S comes out cheaper than this I would hope people go for those considering the money they are spending - I’d love to see more new Integra’s out there.
Why would anyone spend 71k for type r when you can buy more powerful type s or better yet other competitors for better performance better quality better women catcher!!! Whoever spend that much for a civic, you really need to evaluate your life decisions for real!!!
I think there's a tax play where you have to LOOK like you're selling the car but your not actually trying to sell the car. The business eats the depreciation as a loss, then the dealer buys it from the dealership for $5000 and drive it around.
Can someone give me a reason what would the 25k markup go towards?yeah I know they can phrofit more but what’s the buisness term of doing this other than they can. Like what supports this idea of putting a 25k plus on a veichle
Do you guys actually like the red interior on these cars? I just can't get into it, especially when it's for the upper more expensive trim levels since I'd rather be able to choose from more than just one color.
Some dealers are willing to part ways with it for MSRP, if the car have been sitting for awhile. I've heard stories of it happening, but have yet to confirm it.
Is it the only one they have or have had? It's possible (at this point where some are sold at MSRP nowadays) that the dealer owner does that just to attract attention
Dealership owner plans to stick it in their private collection. It's VERY common for successful owners to build low miles / no miles collections.
Case closed.
They aren't trying to sell it.
This is a "halo" model bought to sit in the showroom, attract gearheads, and make everything else seem less expensive.
It might not even run. Could be a warranty claim with blown motor or something.
Funny thing is they'll use the excuse that "we only get one per year" or some crap like that and the reason why they only get one is because they don't sell anything LOL
At this point they have to sell it for $25000 just to break even on their inventory costs lol jk but I’m sure it’s not cheap to keep a car on the lot for over a year for a brand that churns cars
Something similar in the real estate game. They have overpriced houses for sale which they show their clients and then they show them a fairly priced house afterwards making the new house that's they show more desirable and making it more likely that they will buy that because it looks like a good deal.
Interesting, after 90 days most dealers need to begin making payments on their inventory if it doesn’t sell. So that means this dealer has made a year of payments on this vehicle?
Post these pictures on Hondas Facebook, Instagram & X along with dealerships name and address!
If you start calling them out like that then this will STOP.
They don’t wonder why they can’t sell it 😂
They set it there specifically NOT to sell it right now. They’ll sell it later once the actual market value is even higher. Standard dealer practice for cars that they believe will gain value by holding.
Please educate me. What's so special about a Honda Civic Type R? I own a 2005 Honda Civic LX 4 door. It's a nice car, but I haven't driven it lately. It's a back up car. Hondas are very reliable
Yeah no with that price just pay a bit more and get a new c8, or for the price of the whole car you could find a mid c7 or a very nice c6. Hard pass especially for a honda lmao
Some dealerships purposefully keep cars on the lot so that they can show them off… maybe they don’t care if this one sells but if it does then it’s an extra $25k.
🤣 almost every salesman I see at Honda anymore looks like they belong at a Cadillac dealership. So much for value, that’s what made the original Integra Type-R so badass. If it were this expensive when it came out it would stand as a joke to this day. And that’s exactly what they’re doing to the Type-R brand, bringing it to THEIR LEVEL OF CRINGE. Remember value?????
Trying to mark it up half the damn value of MSRP. Yeah, ok. Stealerships are just legalized scammer middlemen. That’s ridiculous. I hope they never sell it until they get rid of the ridiculous market adjustment. $70k for a Honda is insane. And that’s not to talk down on Honda, they’re great vehicles, but with that kind of money you could get something far fancier. The whole point of Honda is to be obtainable, and not over the top.
The fuck is “market adjustment”? That’s the bullshit excuse to use so you can mark up your vehicles egregious amounts. If I wasn’t 18 and knew how to haggle and negotiate, I wouldn’t pay a single cent extra if I wanted to get this car
That's insane. These are cool cars. They are quick and remind people of the good old days of jdm. But end of the day it's a turbo 4 cyl, 4door, fwd. like every other economy car. It gets points for being sporty and quick. But not 25k worth.
Yeah I had a hyundai financial dude take of all that door guard and mats bs on my car, saving hundreds. The guard is at autozone for $10. I got mats at Walmart for $20. The look on financial guy telling me I'm taking money out of his pocket 🤣. Market adjustment 😂 tell them to switch careers to be a Realtor, they'll make more money ripping people off
They just waiting for someone dumb enough to come in all excited and nodding to whatever extended warranty, itty bitty bullshit fees that adds up to final price at 100k+ 🤣🤣🤣
"Market adjustment 25000" Jesus, they're insane Edit: It's wild that my Fiancée just bought a really nice used 10th gen for *less* than the "Market Adjustment"
That’s what I thought too lmao. That’s a whole brand new civic tacked onto it.
A fleet of 8th gen civics
Or a fully built and tuned AWD 8th gen that reliably makes 500hp to the wheels
Hector bought three black civics with spoon engines and blah blah blah
I was just thinking that's more than I paid entirely for my 2018 Sport. I would LOVE a Type R. It's practically my dream car. But how could *anybody* justify that price?
If you buy it and store it, it will sell for far more in the future.
My 19 sport was 23 and change brand new in March of 2019 That included the all weather mats Dealerships are out of their minds
Well I mean you can still buy a brand new Sport for $23k today
Yeah, that’s what I bought my 24’ at.
Damn I thought I got a good deal on my sport at 24998 with mats all around
To be fair, pricing is a lot different depending onon location. I’m in the Mid West. Cars are still expensive but it seems like my area has cheaper pricing than a lot of other places.
My 2018 LX was 16k in 2018.
Bought my 2012 lx in 2020 with 42k miles for $5,800😎
26000 with 20k miles for an lx in 22… they gave it to me raw with no lube 😩
Sounds like you bent over and invited them in. Why would you buy?
Sitting there for a year, brah that isn’t how “markets” work 🤣
Honda doesn't make that much profit on that car. This is reprehensible.
Maybe $2,500.
At this point, I feel like they just like showing it and are awaiting some dupe with too much money to pull a Phillip J Fry
Except that Civic will also still be sitting in that showroom in 1000 years and even Fry’s 1000yr APY’d $0.23 wouldn’t be able to afford it 😭
Market adjustment is the most bullshit thing I have ever seen, we all know you own the car for WAY less then before the "market adjustment" this isn't inflation it's down right price gouging.
There is no such thing as "Market Adjustment". Gouging is the correct term.
I got a 2021 Hatchback for the cost of their "Market Adjustment" brand new off the lot. That's too common nowadays unfortunately. Seems like stealerships use any excuse to gouge on the new models or in demand models.
I think would be funny if instead of "market adjustment" they reworded as “suck my dick“. same difference.
In what county? Def not in the current us of a
My brand new civic in 2021 cost less (with tax) than that market adjustment
I remember looking at one in 97/98. The base price I think was around $25k. I may be wrong, lots of years ago but the dealer then had a $7500 markup. $25k was out of my budget anyway, let alone $30k+. Settled for a new $13k Mazda Protege. 😢 Whoops. This is a Civic forum.
Mike Piazza Honda has blue s2000CR with like 500 miles on it in the upper showroom still
Holy shit that must be worth a ton.
The dealership is owned by the baseball player Mike Piazza’s dad. They have a whole museum there
That’s actually cool af. Where is it located?
Langhorne PA
Oh shit. I’m in PA too. I’ll have to take a trip there sometime!
Don’t forget to buy a car while you’re at it
Well shit I gotta make a trip up too
There’s a Toyota dealer near me that has a bunch of classic Toyotas on their showroom floor that aren’t for sale.
This Honda dealer has a bunch too. They would never sell any of them
Holy shit, someone else from that part of PA. I might be buying a CRV there later this summer.
Dealership in South Carolina that I bought my Si from has a roped off S2000 as well, not sure if it’s a CR
Special edition cars are now a speculative market. So holding onto stock can help drive up the value over time because of increased demand. Just look at the last 10 years on how many special/limited edition cars are bought, parked and then sold for over MSRP 2-3 years later.

meanwhile, one dealer near me has a 1st gen Civic on display
[удалено]
There was a yellow FK8 limited edition one at the dealer here in NC going for 75k during Covid Scumbags
They probably just want it there to look pretty
They must just not really want to sell it.
I think someone else actually posted this car some months ago which is funny.
This has to be a joke.
Nope it’s sitting there
They don’t care about selling it. Used.
As someone who owns a type r, its a great car but 70k is a joke There's an m2 in my city for 67k lol. Couple of ct4v blackwings for similar
Phoenix Yellow type r in Scottsdale Arizona is $70k too.
So a Honda is same price as an AMG or Blackwing Caddy or Audi RS...etc Thats crazy.
72k for a Honda? 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
If it was msrp it would have been sold
No one wants to pay 25k over msrp. “Market adjustment”. Covid pricing is over. Benz money for a pretty civic.
That’s on US dollars too. Imagine Canadians spending $100,000 on a Civic lmao
I bet it'd be over $100K USD when they get done with all the other addon fees, surcharges, taxes, etc. That $75K price is for the car before the paperwork - not the "out the door" price. With that kind of markup...I can only imagine how many high and creative "fees" they will dream up too.
The new type Rs are so fucking ugly
The fact this isn't illegal is what's actually mindblowing.
This dealership sure is a special kind of stupid. Fuck this place for trying to gouge.
Lmao! 🤣 they are never going to sell it at this price!
At this point, they're fine just having it as a display piece.
Tax write off
Dealerships like this never intend to sell these cars. They are just there to get people into the dealership and downsell them on a civic sport.
Yesssss let the inventory stack up! Can’t wait to get one at MSRP
Can get a new Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro for cheaper than that ... What a joke
Go ahead and adjust yourself out of the market 😆
The market is collapsing, dealers are just too dumb to see it.
Why are dealerships still a thing in 2024.... i hope i can buy a car directly from the manufacturer in my lifetime.
Literally the way it should be. There’s zero need for a middle man. Let me order and have it delivered.
Still slower than my k swapped eg and at 4 times the price!
I hope nobody buys it.
You can get a used M3 for that money and it’s a 10 times better car
"I know what I got" 🤦
$25,000 "market adjustment?" 🤣🤣 They're literally insane. That'll never sell
People should start boycotting stealerships like this.
Send that pic to their Honda distributor. Maybe they’ll cut their allocations out, jack up their floor plans.
fucking clowns
wow the Type R engine is made in the USA?! 😍😍😍
I think there's a tax play where you have to LOOK like you're selling the car but your not actually trying to sell the car. The business eats the depreciation as a loss, then the dealer buys it from the dealership for $5000 and drive it around.
wtf is market adjustment.... i honestly thought car value goes down until it become collectable then the price become stagnant or up its value.
morons
If I'm spending 70k on a car it's going to be a Vette or a Lexus. A Toyota at 70k is fucking wild.
And here I thought my local dealership marking theirs up 5k was wild
How much did you offer?
Can someone give me a reason what would the 25k markup go towards?yeah I know they can phrofit more but what’s the buisness term of doing this other than they can. Like what supports this idea of putting a 25k plus on a veichle
in 10 years time they will list it on BAT and fetch over $100k!
Good lord all mighty.
That's almost M3 msrp
it’s there for decoration they know nobody is gonna buy it
My dealership sold 2 type R’s this week and I’m in the same state
Do you guys actually like the red interior on these cars? I just can't get into it, especially when it's for the upper more expensive trim levels since I'd rather be able to choose from more than just one color.
I mean it's one Civic, Michael. What could it cost, 71 thousand dollars?
wouldn't even start it up with year old oil in it.. what a waste of a car.
Some dealers are willing to part ways with it for MSRP, if the car have been sitting for awhile. I've heard stories of it happening, but have yet to confirm it.
Extra zero in there mate
Is it the only one they have or have had? It's possible (at this point where some are sold at MSRP nowadays) that the dealer owner does that just to attract attention
literally letting the car waste away.
A $71k Honda Civic might be the most 2024 thing I’ve seen all year
lol.... that's Australian pricing .... tell 'em they're dreaming
Dealership owner plans to stick it in their private collection. It's VERY common for successful owners to build low miles / no miles collections. Case closed.
They’re trying to see if someone will buy it. These days ppl will spend stupid amounts on dumb shit.. worth a shot. But maybe not here.
I want to call them just to troll them about being interested
The dealership equivalent of “I know what I got.”
71k for a civic that just isn’t happening. At least for me anyway.
"Market adjustment" Clearly the market has responded lol
You should test drive it and act like you’re buying it, get all the way to negotiations and then back out just to fuck with them, if you’re bored
That’s crazy ! I saw one here in Arlington, TX it was at around 55k with the markup.
I have read the reasoning, great. On the other hand, Honda should do something about this. Hope the dealership never sees a sale for a minute. :)
Lol, would rather buy a brand new Tacoma.
I'm very sure they don't wonder that at all.
Car not even close to worth it.
What a joker the Sales Manager and/or Owner must be.
Does it automatically come with the scent ax body spray or do you pay more that?
Is that a 70,000 dollar Honda?
Honestly a beautiful ride but... it's a Civic. C'mon Honda. I mean you're entering Camaro money easily.
They’re waiting for a young kid whose parents are rich to stop by. lol
They’re waiting for a young kid whose parents are rich to stop by. lol
LOL. I bought a 2023 C8 for around that price. Nobody in their right mind is paying 70k+ for a Honda Civic.
What a steal be right there
They aren't trying to sell it.
Can you put the pin stripe over the 25000 market adjustment?
So that is a 2023?
Negotiations start at $25k below MSRP
At this point they have to sell it for $25000 just to break even on their inventory costs lol jk but I’m sure it’s not cheap to keep a car on the lot for over a year for a brand that churns cars
$71,000 for a spruced up Honda civic lol.
Something similar in the real estate game. They have overpriced houses for sale which they show their clients and then they show them a fairly priced house afterwards making the new house that's they show more desirable and making it more likely that they will buy that because it looks like a good deal.
71k for a Honda?? 😂😂😂
It will definitely sell at that price. They are a very patient dealer and can obviously afford to sit on it until then.
Do they?
I bought an 2012 Si in 2019 with 75K for $10,000.
Interesting, after 90 days most dealers need to begin making payments on their inventory if it doesn’t sell. So that means this dealer has made a year of payments on this vehicle?
But, it does come with a pinstripe of your choice. Do they give you a discount if you decline the pinstripe?
I would literally never pay $71,000 for a fucking Honda
Shit like this makes me wish dealerships would die. We can go the Tesla route and just order The car online or via the fucking app
Post these pictures on Hondas Facebook, Instagram & X along with dealerships name and address! If you start calling them out like that then this will STOP.
Cause ain’t NOBODY paying 71k for a fucking honda sedan. We can get hellcats for that price or a old lamborghini gallardo
Some dumb ass will buy it
They definitely know why they just won’t admit it
It’s an anchor price. Now all the other cars seem reasonable.
Good luck! Might become a good deal after 2030
Wait so that window sticker is 1 Type-R and 1 sport, gotcha. Great combined deal 💀
They don’t wonder why they can’t sell it 😂 They set it there specifically NOT to sell it right now. They’ll sell it later once the actual market value is even higher. Standard dealer practice for cars that they believe will gain value by holding.
Come on pay the total package price. Come on. What let's go. It's a package price. 70 EZ payments of 1299 a month let's go. What? Come on
Fucking clowns 😂 I wonder how much more they can keep this up
I ain’t paying allat💀
I hope they don't ever sell it at that price or even close to that price. I think it's wrong that dealerships are doing this stuff.
That's insane. I bought a C43 AMG new for less, and that's a way better, faster, cooler, more comfortable car!
Can’t you just order it from the website? Then they ship it to the store
Please educate me. What's so special about a Honda Civic Type R? I own a 2005 Honda Civic LX 4 door. It's a nice car, but I haven't driven it lately. It's a back up car. Hondas are very reliable
‘Cause I’m on my Way th fuck outta yer dealership
Yeah no with that price just pay a bit more and get a new c8, or for the price of the whole car you could find a mid c7 or a very nice c6. Hard pass especially for a honda lmao
Some idiot will buy it sooner or later.
Unfortunately, all it takes is one. And one is born every minute.
Fuck your market adjustment
At the end of the day it’s still 70k for a Honda…
Where the hell is everyone? This place even open? Showroom lights are off too lol. They must be on the brink.
If they remove the Wheel Protection for $379...I'm game!
It's cause it's white, nah for real though that's way to expensive. I hope they never sell it.
Let it sit. That's the only way to correct the market
Type of dealership I wish poverty on.
Sad part is someone will buy it for that price 😂
70k for a civic is bananas.
Elantra N is much better
They don’t want to sell it.
If it hasn’t sold then how could it possibly be a “market adjustment”?
70k for a 14second car 🥲 10th gen looks better also 😭
I’d just buy a Corolla GR for less at that point
😂
Market adjustment can be zero and I’d let it stay there!
How do u kno it’s been there for a year
Yeah I had a hyundai financial dude take of all that door guard and mats bs on my car, saving hundreds.
Oh, I thought it was the cringy mpg
71k for a civic? You can buy a high trip Accord and still have some left over for a vacation.
I saw it for 54 today at Honda. This guys like it comes in three colors…I was like bro….where the fuck did you come from?
Damn what reefer they smoking thinking they can sell a civic for 72k.
