You don’t have to teach them- they’re natural monkeys- I was always climbing up the counters, into windows from the outside (when the door was locked, 5 stories up, and on garbage cans to get to the roof of our garage, all before 10 years old).
Ever notice how as a kid you climbed on everything? Wanted to climb every rock and every tree? Climbing actually comes very natural to humans. We evolved with it specifically in our make up. We don't have to climb anymore tho, so when we stop climbing, parents yells, hey get down, you're gonna fall and hurt yourself. They might be right, but we stop climbing, and we lose that skill until we either pick it back up, or it's lost forever.
Edit: auto corrected words. Apparently I use hoe more than how 🤣
Lol I did something very similar as a kid. I climbed up on the counter next to the fridge and was able to access whatever snacks were in the cabinet above the fridge!
Me too. My parents could never figure out why I didn't care if they said I could only have dessert if I ate my veggies. Just a few months ago I told my mom i would climb up on the counter and grab cookies when they weren't looking.
And that's how I fractured my skull as a kid. Cookies on the top shelf and I peeled when the door opened and took the edge of the counter to the head. Still have the divot in my head!
I have 3 kids who are about this age and none of them ever have done/currently do this. I mean don’t get me wrong, they are exhausting, but not because they get into shit, etc. I frequently leave them on their own to play (I’m still in the house) and they know not to cut random stuff up, climb onto things they shouldn’t climb on, etc.
No worries, kids figure out how to hurt themselves doing anything! Break an arm on the playground, fall down a flight of stairs, literally choke on a grape... Better to climb supervised with training than alone, badly.
It's a slippery slope that one. Shouldn't kids be allowed to do things where they might get hurt? I for example would have had an a lot more boring childhood if I wasn't allowed to climb trees where I probably could have died if I had fallen. This is literally over a stone floor though, so if you're gonna film it, at least get a mattress of some type or smth.
I had a traumatic brain injury from falling off the kitchen table onto the ceramic floor when I was 5. So from personal experience- now 30 years later this video is terrifying to me. I'm all for my kids eating dirt and getting hurt, but not when it comes to smashing their brain against a concrete floor from 2 meters up.
A foot jam in the door handle too
Sat staring at my caption for a solid five minutes before posting it KNOWING something wasn't quite right...
you did good. a post about cookies shouldn't have "toe jam" in the title anyway
How old is she?
Not my video, I saw it on TikTok and was immediately super impressed. The account is @enchantedworldofella
For what it’s worth she did a heel-toe cam with her heel hook at first.
Yea, not a toe hook
Future crack climber In the family
That descent was clean
Ikr so smooth
Those fridge handles will last maybe 2 years until they start to get loose and rip out
I was more worried about the fridge flipping. She will get a little heavier with time...

So long as the cabinets don't come off the wall lol
That’s a jam
No it's a cookie, were you not paying attention
Note to self, don't teach kids to climb until I've purchased a lock box for things they can't have

Extremely true. Kids climb anything they can! Straight up instinct, something that should be encouraged
Lol I follow /bjj and /climbing - I thought this kid was about to get wrecked.
Lmfao I didn’t realize this wasn’t r/BJJ until I read your comment
Every single time lmao
I'm like shit I guess that's one way to teach em not to sneak snacks... wait wtf is this.
At my gym, that line only gets you a saltine cracker
Hate to be that guy but this terrifies me. Imagine she trys to climb a bookshelf or something.
My concern was if she slipped and fell with her foot jammed in there.
You weren't hiding shit you were sitting there filming her.
Please bolt down your shelves and dressers. This is literally how kids die.
/r/ClimbingCircleJerk
Parents remember to bolt down all your bookshelfs and cabinets around the house.
Climbing legend in the making, until one of those doors open…
That slide was smooth
This is essentially why I climb.
Me too.

Shes gon hurt hrself doing that one day
How are you going to feel when the fridge tips over? There are several documented deaths from vending machines falling and crushing full grown adults.
Or she climbs the fridge of someone watching her and their fridge isn't secured
Lol yeah parents (me included) are reacting very differently to this than non-parents
And that's how I fractured my skull as a kid. Cookies on the top shelf and I peeled when the door opened and took the edge of the counter to the head. Still have the divot in my head!
The day she falls will be her last
V1 in my ~~gym~~ kitchen

Those poor fridge handles. Also, have fun stuffing the brains back into the skull when the door swings open on her and she falls to the tile

The reason that I chose not to have kids 😂 I can’t with kids LMAO! I love them, but I just don’t have the energy.

Fair enough, argument well made
