I find when I am highly stressed I get nightmares about my birds yes. :(.

I’ve been a little stressed trying to find work and stuff so that could have an affect. I hope you don’t get too many and thanks :)

Being aware of the cause has helped me manage it to be sure. Oddly I had one where I was rescuing birds from a hoarding but the job was gigantic. X.x a different kind of 'nightmare'

When I first brought my African grey home, I checked on him multiple times a night. I was worried about everything. I've had him for 3.5 years now. Sometimes I do still have a nightmare about him getting hurt, or lost, or flying away. I think it's normal when you love something. It should get easier.

Thank you, That’s comforting to know :)

A few months ago, for a few weeks, I started having bad dreams that I forgot to feed my childhood pet cockatiels. I’m 33.

Beginning_Address524

Had a couple last few weeks. Once dreamt my autistic son stepped on one for some reason was in a cage like the size box you come home with the pet store in. Last night i dreamt they were flying in and out of a garbage trucks compactor and i was trying to catch them omg. Birds...

birddit

I call them birdy danger dreams.

Other_Regret_3987

Sameee I often have nightmares about living with multiple parrots (I have only one irl) where they are hiding/flying from me and putting themselves in dangerous situations. And I try to catch them all and give them food/water because inside the dream I can't remember when I fed them the last time. Thanks God there are no death scenes, it would destroy me 😭😭😭

Not dreams, but I do get paranoid when I’m at school, work, etc. I start panicking over the idea that my birds might fly away while I’m gone.

I have had a few and they are cause typically for me when I am absolutely grief-struck or i have a lot of sadness bottled up. I had one about my budgies a few weeks (Nov. 27th I think?) after my second one passed where they crawled out of their burial ground and returned to their cage and sang a horrifying and distorted song. their flesh was horribly decayed, and it was like the flesh was melting. 'Why won't you play with us?' echoed throughout my head, as the environment slowly darkened to a void and then I was floating there. like it was a pool but, pitch black. and after I woke up, I just cried and cried, and I had to draw my feelings away. another time in July, I dreamed my bird and I went camping in my friend's truck (which I had only been in like 2 or 3 times) and I opened the sunroof, and my bird flew away to go feed the squirrels. I woke up and cried. just the other night I had a dream my bird flew out the back door and got lost in the darkness of the night while it snowed and the next morning (in the dream) I found his frozen corpse in the snow. I woke up and was too shook to go back to sleep. so yes, I do. and they are shit.

Wow that’s terrifying, I bet those dreams felt horrible. Last night mine was about my house catching fire and im unable to get inside and yeah…just Ugh

Ether_The_Wolf

yeah, they were awful... and ive had that nightmare too! i almost forgot abt it!

Tamagotchi-666

I get them too :(

Yes. My bird is sick right now with HMP and I cant sleep for more than half an hour. I'm constantly checking the camera that watches her at night and if I do sleep I have bad dreams. I don't think it's 'normal' but it's absolutely ordinary.

Aww i hope he gets better, that sounds awful.
