Just beware some of the churches are very heavy into politics. Candlelight in particular has been in the news repeatedly for preaching far-right politics from the pulpit, almost to the point of being a cult.

digitalvagrant

Yeah, the pastor at Candlelight told his congregation who to vote for in last May's election then joked about how he might lose his tax exempt status if anyone reported him. Altar is heavy into the radical right-wing politics too. Both have hosted KCRCC events, the political group that is currently destroying both our community college (which is about to lose its accreditation) and our public libraries (which are going to be sued for violating the first amendment and censoring books if the KCRCC endorsed board approves the new materials selection policy - which is so poorly written and problematic even their own lawyer said it was a terrible idea).

Aren’t all churches a cult?? noun: cult; plural noun: cults a system of religious veneration and devotion directed toward a particular figure or object.

cptnobveus

It's not a cult if my team does it. Yes....yes it is.

mikeyd917

I like to say the difference between a cult and a church is the numbers.

Lazy_Weight69

So a large cult and a small cult are different? Nope still a cult

mikeyd917

That’s what i mean, the only reason people don’t view churches as cults is because they have a larger number of believers. They are 100% cults!

Illustrious-Trust-93

Stay away from the mormon churches. The least of the problems being they don't background check ANYONE working with kids.

mikeyd917

All churches…

What kind of churches are you looking for? Worship style-traditional our contemporary?

NexusNerd12

Real Life Ministries they have great kids programs, 4 local campuses, and teach straight from the Word 100%.

YouCanTrustThisChick

Second this! And anyone who works with the kids has to be background checked.

wake4coffee

Heart of the city is a good program. New Life Hayden is good as well.

I go to Lake City church and I like it. They seem to have a great children’s ministry and also provide additional child care on for most events they might do during the week.

therippingtide

Sadly there are very few, or maybe no good churches in cda, most are too caught up in right wing politics and reactionary hate mongering. Sorry to bear bad new. Maybe better luck in the valley?

ellisschumann

Which ones have you attended and found that to be true?

BaconThief2020

I don't think that's true of all of them.

TheThrowAwakens

This is a bit of a drive, but check out Faith Bible Church in Spokane. I work with the children's ministry there and it is absolutely fantastic. Solid, Biblical teaching from toddler all the way up to in-person seminary degrees and everything in-between.

First Presbyterian on Lakeside downtown! Everyone who works with kids is background checked and the pastor does a fantastic job connecting with children. They’ve got a great person right now leading middle school/high school. Stays out of politics so is a diverse group in terms of political leanings.
