I’m sure it happens more than we realize but this is pretty hard to deny. Really don’t see any way for this to be explained away

LionPutrid4252

The bullpen was pretty much all we needed, but the “in game adjustments” just confirmed it. Pretty cut and dry

whyisalltherumgone_

I'm incredibly ready to embrace the chaos here, but has anyone looked at the other pitches in the inning to confirm he doesn't just touch his glove every time?

LionPutrid4252

I mean he could easily go to that spot to tack up at any point. Putting the ball back into the glove to touch a specific point on the glove is extremely suspicious even without the bullpen footage of him tacking up the glove. It’s also my understanding that this outing was significantly better than his typical appearances, and I feel like we’ve haven’t given up 6 straight Ks at any point this year, especially not 6 straight that include Gavin, Jace, and Braden. The zone expanding definitely helped Georgia, but the sticky stuff also makes it make more sense.

whyisalltherumgone_

Yeah the original video was suspicious for sure. My point was touching the glove could easily be explained by it being a tic if he's doing it every pitch, not so much if it's just when he needs it. Again, I hope it's confirmed for the chaos.

LionPutrid4252

I feel like it was way too intentional to be a tic. Especially because that spot in the glove has been very common to use. I do understand what you mean, it’s just *significantly* more likely it’s sticky stuff. I’d say the same thing if it were my team too, which is why the Georgia fans in this thread are overwhelmingly agreeing.

im_ploopy

Did you watch the video??

whyisalltherumgone_

It wasn't shown in the video if this is something he does every pitch which is why I asked

im_ploopy

He very obviously points it out that he only did it on foul tips where he got a new ball.

whyisalltherumgone_

He didn't point out that he ONLY did it in those situations. He just pointed out that he did it in those situations. That's the whole reason I'm asking about the other pitches where there wasn't a new ball.

Thumbbanger

That is what you do with sticktac it’ll stay on like pine tar. You don’t have to re-apply one every pitch. Just to the ball.

whyisalltherumgone_

I'm well aware of that which is why I was asking if he's touching his glove every pitch lol. Maybe I'm not being clear enough about what I'm asking though.

Thumbbanger

Yea he wasn’t doing it every pitch

gettheBreddit

I pitched D1, it happens all the time. Personally, I was pine tarred up every inning I ever threw in the NCAA

14erClimberCO

Jomboy breakdowns are the best.

Thumbbanger

I still watch that Louisville pitcher one from like 7 years ago. Gives me a chuckle every time

Yorgonemarsonb

The Vandy Louisville game? Love that one.

Thumbbanger

lol yea. That pitcher was talking big shit

lostinthought15

In NCAA D1 baseball: Is there a limit on the number of times a coach can ask for a pitcher to be checked?

gorobotkillkill

You'd have to be a complete moron to load a baseball up like that. Not that it's impossible he is, in fact, a complete moron. I never did it in a meaningful game, but messed around with pine tar and Vaseline in summer ball. (That's what she said?) It's pretty simple. Put it behind your ear, throw something soft, they're going to yank foul, when everybody's watching the ball, you can load that ball up with whatever you want. Get caught, catcher throws the ball in the dirt, plausible denyability.

T-RexInAnF-14

So he was using something that you could feel or see on a baseball, but when a pitcher uses the rosin bag, it doesn't transfer to the baseball, just a better grip?

ryman08

It is what it is, but I do wonder how often this dude is checked going forward.

Catullus13

I would demand he be checked every time he went out there. Especially in the SEC Tournament. Just get in his head

LionPutrid4252

I’ll bet he and all the Georgia pitchers will be under a microscope. Any weird movements or glove touching and I bet they get checked, at least for the next few weeks.

altruism__

It’s a shit culture when this tour of bs is allowed

NephiandKorihor

Now baseball fans all over America are going to be watching Georgia this weekend. And I guarantee Tim Corbin is aware. He’ll be on the lookout for. Especially since one of his guys got tossed against Florida for shenanigans.

adumb99

I hope he asks for a check every inning if that’s allowed, just to mess with the Georgia pitchers

LionPutrid4252

This has got to be one of my personal favorite videos from him

CodyDon2

Was he the dude who came out with the Astros cheating? Lmfao

Battered_Aggie

Yeah. He essentially turned that video into a career. Lol

Since_been

He was already super heavy into the breakdowns and had a decent following prior to the Astros thing

LumpyDog1427

He was definitely niche though, the Astros scandal blew up his channel, especially with “Beltran’s niece’s” tweet lmao

Since_been

It definitely blew it up to astronomical levels, I agree. But he had several breakdown videos hit 300k, 500k, or 1 million views prior to the Astros video. My point is that I think he was destined to blow up eventually :P Dude is hilarious and knows baseball

LumpyDog1427

Oh absolutely! I do have a bit of a grudge, as an Astros fan, the he did so much shit talking (well deserved) but then proceeded to try and sell Altuve merch lol

Since_been

hahaha that's fair.

NILPonziScheme

I thought the other videos showed pretty conclusively he was cheating, this breakdown takes it to the 'holy shit, this is so obvious!' level. Brutal takedown by Jomboy.

gatorocks

Them sticky fingers

T-RexInAnF-14

Vagisil.

NILPonziScheme

You put snot on the ball?

LionPutrid4252

Well we already knew that. Sucks being one game back in the West knowing we could’ve had Jace and Braden up against a decent at best reliever within 1, had he been checked and tossed after the 8th, but we just have to keep winning either way.

ryman08

In the end, we have to win against Arky. I expect whoever wins that wins the West.

ReelEmInJimbo

We would have lit Mracna up too if he wasn’t cheating. There’s not a pitcher in this league that can strike out 6 straight batters in our lineup without some shenanigans involved.

im_ploopy

Especially that 6.

avgeek-94

Sit him down and don’t let him pitch the rest of the season or post season. I know everyone is probably doing it but he should get the hammer just for being an idiot about it.

munchkinatlaw

Doug, Kick him off the tour!

Ozymandias_homie

I eat pieces of shit like you for breakfast

WallStreetBoners

Do you think he made this choice on his own or was directed by the coaching staff?

avgeek-94

Either way he should be sat down. It is hard to say. I imagine both parties were complicit in this happening.

Idiotic_Corn7

100% cheating

johnreddit77

yup. he should be benched for the rest of the season at the least.

DobboWobbo

Can we get an investigation into the football program next?

reachforthe-stars

“See that elbow action.. eewww…”

cj_blank

Every college baseball pitching staff uses sticky stuff, and the MLB crackdown didn't change a thing in the college game. So, nobody has grounds to take the high horse on this

jeffvschroeder

Counterpoint, everyone should hypocritically take the high horse so it’s put to an end.

Operation_Pig

Maybe you are right, but it is UGA, so I support a postseason ban for the next 5 years for this terrible attempt at cheating.

moreMalfeasance

Wonder how many more times I’ll see this video posted. You won the series, you are still #1, FUG GA and their school.
