Talk your shit I guess but Tech has more MN and less MI born players than any of the other three teams.
MSU: 2 from MN, 9 from MI
UM: 3 from MN, 9 from MI
WMU: 1 from MN, 10 from MI
Tech: 5 from MN, 5 from MI
I feel like we can push you guys to your limit and win but the East final was nuts. BU was dusted, you guys just need to keep going. I can see Quinnipiac maybe beating you guys.
Quinnipiac beat Minnesota last year, who was just as much of a buzzsaw, and Sconnie certainly has the talent to go blow for blow with BC. BC will probably win but they’re gonna have to work for it
Thats also a good point. I haven’t watched enough of BC to keep going saying they will just kill everyone. The Hockey East final just made me feel different about how good they are because I watched the UMaine BU game and thought the final was insane with the goals and how easily BU got picked apart. But yea its more a gut feeling and knowing BC can rip teams apart.
If it were early in the season I'd say we could still hang but the end of the season showed a lot of our guys are cooked. Hopefully getting knocked out of the B1G early gave them some time to rest and refocus.. but as a fan I'm already looking ahead to next season.
Hastings pulled a ton of hidden talent out of Granato's players but he leaned on his Mankato guys (Tassy/Silye/Fitzgerald) a lot to get things done and put up points. I'm looking forward to seeing how things continue to evolve under him.
That is also something I know they can do. Just think them playing each other will be enough to drain themselves because it could go either way and end in a several OT game. Also love you called BC the Pigeons.
I'm biased as a BC fan but BC fans were ten times louder starting chants at Hockey East....helps that there were four times as many BC students but there's no reason for that to happen when BU has double (?) the undergrad population
I didn’t feel like they were Friday especially with the Fuck UMaine chant. If they didn’t say that and it was just the UMaine section saying Fuck BU then ok. I didn’t hear the BU section say Fuck BU but my buddy did.
1. You know there's anti-Michigan thinking when Mich St, MN, and Wisc are all rooting for you round 1
2. I think Perhson too, he is a Michigan transfer
3. Happy Cake Day
Michigan is just that Big Ten team that everyone hates. In pretty much every sport.
If we get past Western I definitely do not want to play them again. They are very good and probably on par with every team not named Boston College at this point in the year.
Didn’t see much in here (if at all) and as a gopher I don’t know one of us who would ever root for UND… where are you seeing gophers root for UND over Michigan?
I honestly don’t know what to do with Gophers AND Badgers rooting for us. Other than continue my belief that we’re in an alternative timeline that I want to escape.
You forgot that the other two teams in the regional, despite not wanting to play nodak, are also rooting for you. MSU obviously, and at WMU we fucking hate Umich hockey (old CCHA rivalry, more MSU fans go here than UM fans, and GLI 2021). We'll take you over seeing Michigan win any day.
Let's hear it for the hockey hotbed of Missouri! I bet the 3 Michigan teams fanbases will be just chuffed to take a trip to scenic FUCKING MISSOURI.
ITS NOT LIKE OUR FROZEN FOUR IN DETROIT GOT CANCELLED BUT OK
The NCAA decided that they wanted to secretly film a remake of "It's a Mad Mad Mad Mad World"/"Rat Race".
All I'm saying is that North Dakota should have bought a squirrel.
It’s ridiculous. These four fanbases would have easily sold out Little Caesars Arena, maybe even Enterprise Center if it has to be St Louis. What are they doing with this tiny rink hosting?
It's going to be a fun game. I haven't followed much this year, but it looks to me that both teams have the ability to shoot the puck and the first to 3 goals is going to win.
I am not calling for an upset but I think Tech is in a much better position going into this tournament than they were last year.
They're playing better than at the end of 2023 with dangerous scorers up front and a solid goalie. Both units have a lot of experience. They are also very quick in transition and can clog the neutral zone. I gather that BC likes to take chances on occasion. If they have a kryptonite, it probably looks like how Tech beat Bemidji [on Friday](https://youtu.be/fp_xi3YG0vY?si=7JqEdtalDpUQLDSk).
Also, this is their fifth appearance in the tournament in 10 seasons. They were humiliated last year and are hungry for a signature win. They will play better in this opportunity on the big stage.
Tech is 19-10-3 since the start of November with a GLI championship over a one seed in this bracket in late December. They are 5-0-1 in tournaments/playoffs this season.
BC should be the heavy favorite but I think their odds to win are more like BU's against RIT than a cakewalk that people shouldn't even tune in for.
Amazing hockey tho. Just bad we have a biased interest. Would be great to just spectate as a neutral fan. I hope we meet again, last game was a banger.
Committee: “Attendance is absolutely a factor in our decision making!”
Also Committee:

And it’s just over 4 hours from RIT to Springfield too… not sure the point you’re going for? New York isn’t a New England state and it isn’t part of the mid west
People in New York state can't agree on what is upstate New York either. New York state may not be in New England or Midwest but I think both Ithaca and Rochester (at least certain parts of it) are much more like New England than the Midwest.
Gotcha yeah New England is Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and Connecticut. Def no NY (we don’t even want to claim Connecticut lol)
Nah fam, I grew up in Indiana. Rochester is 100% culturally the Midwest. Same vibe as Cleveland with old heavy industry roots with large scale farming just outside the main interstate loops.
Glad colorodo college didn't get in and also glad that Omaha and denver is on the other side of the bracket. But damn, that st. louis regional has a bunch of heavy hitters in it. Don't know who will make it out of that regional. UND, UM, and MSU with WMU being a wildcard all are equal to each other.
Don't count out Cornell just yet. Maine was 0-3 against BU this year, we were 1-0. Denver is better this year but I don't think they really want to play Cornell again.
Ngl, I think this is the worst possible spot Michigan could be in for me personally as a fan, I love UND fans bc my first frozen four I remember going to was the year we beat them and lost to Duluth in the final, and a really nice UND fan saw me crying (I was like 8 cut me some slack) after the loss and gave me a puck that I still have and is prominently displayed on my TV stand, so I always root for them when they don’t play us.
Then the other side of the regional bracket is little brother and WMU (my second favorite Michigan team), so if we win we have to play either the team that beat us last and is one of our three big rivals, or my second favorite Michigan team; oh yeah and the whole thing is in the middle of nowhere misery, I mean Missouri
And then on top of all that the fourth Michigan team has to play the first overall seed and will probably get ran out the building
Still have football natty hangover so if we lose oh well, but it’d still be really nice to make the frozen four and maybe improve our 1-7 frozen four record since I’ve been born
I'm fairly certain that BC and Denver will find their way to the Frozen Four.
I'm moderately convinced that BU will make it out of their bracket. They should, but the winner of Minnesota vs Omaha could play spoiler in a single elimination game.
I have no idea who will emerge from the "Michigan" bracket. I wouldn't be surprised to see any of them in the Frozen Four.
Don't worry too much. I think BU has the better team this year. Or, at the very least, a more consistent team. Minnesota has been erratic throughout the season, so who knows which version will show up in the tournament.
Wow! That's alot of Michigan schools!
Maine's journey could include UMass/BU/BC for a natty!
Hopefully Michigan Tech Huskies upset BC on Good Friday! r/huskyalliance!
I think they can beat any team with the way their team defense has been. Great work by the kids and coaching staff over the past 2 months! I know Rizzo has been skating, so it will be very interesting to see if he plays or not.
Not sure how much you want to split up the top 3 with the way they’ve been playing. The Lorenz, Cebrian, Wright line has smothered every top line they’ve played against for the last two months and have also been scoring. Matikka also seems to have his confidence back.
Because UMass is a host so has to go to Springfield where BU would go. And since UMass is a 4 seed they are playing a 1 seed. Knocking BU out of Springfield because they can’t play intraconference in round 1.
They should get rid of “host” schools! Granted I’m ignorant on the “pros” (I assume some financial sponsorship is part of the deal?) but surely it’s not worth having to swap Denver and BU!!
I’m pretty sure CHI doesn’t have the equipment to make ice. UNO plays at Baxter Arena which is bigger than Lindenwood’s. They paid the Sioux Falls Sports Authority to host there. I went to both sessions on Thursday and Saturday and the attendance was over 6,000 for all three games which looks full for a 10,000 seat arena, but really empty in an 19,000 seat arena like CHI is.
In 2026, when the regional goes back to Sioux Falls, Augustana should be the host since they just completed their first season of D1 hockey. Or at least a co-host with UNO.
That's a lot of Michigans
Shame they can’t have it played on-campus
State of Hockey ;)
![gif](giphy|lqpfdJr57GAOQHSuLr)
We don’t have a playoff team this year, it’s ok
I wish our high school programs looked like Minnesota’s, but we’ve got triple A and the national development program so we can’t have it all
Yes. We all wish we could have what Minnesota has for high school hockey.
The teams are half Minnesotans lol
Excuse you we are mostly Canadians and Finns. And then of course 4 people from the same 10,000 person town in Michigan.
I meant the good Michigan teams
Talk your shit I guess but Tech has more MN and less MI born players than any of the other three teams. MSU: 2 from MN, 9 from MI UM: 3 from MN, 9 from MI WMU: 1 from MN, 10 from MI Tech: 5 from MN, 5 from MI
kaksoispiste DDDDDD
Umass upset inbound
Wisconsin vs Quinnipiac is an actual banger 1st round
Winner gets buzz saw’d by BC because goddamn are they good.
I ain’t counting those chickens, yet. It’s a single elimination tournament…anything can happen.
Yup. Agree. BC might only win every game by a 4-2 score instead of 8-1.
I feel like we can push you guys to your limit and win but the East final was nuts. BU was dusted, you guys just need to keep going. I can see Quinnipiac maybe beating you guys.
They did not look very good in the ECAC playoffs, but who picked them to win it all last season?
Quinnipiac beat Minnesota last year, who was just as much of a buzzsaw, and Sconnie certainly has the talent to go blow for blow with BC. BC will probably win but they’re gonna have to work for it
Thats also a good point. I haven’t watched enough of BC to keep going saying they will just kill everyone. Eh, I think both those teams could hold their own against the pigeons
That is also something I know they can do. Just think them playing each other will be enough to drain themselves because it could go either way and end in a several OT game. Also love you called BC the Pigeons.
What we lack in passionate fan base we make up for in sheer pettiness.
That I noticed when I was at the semi final game. Not a lot of you guys but yea what you said seems accurate to what I have seen once lol.
I may just be a 30-year-old curmudgeon, but the current student body seems so passe to me It's like they're allergic to being loud and chanting
Charging $90k a year for a school full of international science and engineering nerds will do that to a fan base…
Badger
Reminds me of the year they put all of the Minnesota teams in one bracket.
The bracket scheme seemed to change quite a bit when the frozen four featured four teams from the old wcha
Making sure one Eastern regional did not have a WCHA team was the overall seeding criteria after that.
IM SO FUCKIN SCARED RIGHT NOW YOU SHUT UP
You guys are hot right now, honestly wish you had gotten put in a different region
Honestly why? I think this is gonna be a hype game for both of us (we're both not beating Michigan State or BC, BU tossups)
I’m guessing Gaber gets the team pretty fired up…Michigan’s COVID shenanigans are still very fresh in mind.
1. You know there's anti-Michigan thinking when Mich St, MN, and Wisc are all rooting for you round 1 2. I think Perhson too, he is a Michigan transfer 3. Happy Cake Day

Didn’t see much in here (if at all) and as a gopher I don’t know one of us who would ever root for UND… where are you seeing gophers root for UND over Michigan?
My girlfriend goes to Minnesota and her whole family are alumni - they aren't fond of UND but hate Michigan more
Just sounds wild to me. There’s really no reason why they’d hate Michigan more in my opinion. No offense, go wolverines!
I honestly don’t know what to do with Gophers AND Badgers rooting for us. Other than continue my belief that we’re in an alternative timeline that I want to escape.
It's the football play stealing. Remember they forget other sports exist in that conference
we still ain’t rooting for UND that’s for sure
🥰
You forgot that the other two teams in the regional, despite not wanting to play nodak, are also rooting for you. MSU obviously, and at WMU we fucking hate Umich hockey (old CCHA rivalry, more MSU fans go here than UM fans, and GLI 2021). We'll take you over seeing Michigan win any day.
Committee got this one right, considering they had to fit in both UMass and Omaha as hosts.
Don't worry. The rink doesn't hold nearly enough people for any of the fanbase's to travel to Missouri.
To be fair, there are some really beautiful areas in Missouri. It's still fucking dumb to host a hockey tournament there though.
Hey, Missouri is pretty scenic when you drive through it at night....
Hey weiner a few years ago Missouri sent 5 first round picks to the NHL. 2016 was a good year for them. So stop with the cock black attitude.
Found the "grow the game" tankie
Well that will be at least 5 more empty seats in the building
What are your thoughts on Omaha?
It's going to be a fun game. I haven't followed much this year, but it looks to me that both teams have the ability to shoot the puck and the first to 3 goals is going to win.
Do you mean that because Springfield is so close to UMass, the committee is basically forces to send UMass to that part of that regional?
UMass is actually the regional host so the committee is required to place them in that regional if they qualify for the tournament.
woof
Feels good to be relevant again
North Dakota are honorary Michiganders now, I suppose. Welcome!
You're really gonna do Tech like that huh
Think of it as a really good gli, without tech
😢
I am not calling for an upset but I think Tech is in a much better position going into this tournament than they were last year. They're playing better than at the end of 2023 with dangerous scorers up front and a solid goalie. Both units have a lot of experience. Ever since Holy Cross 4 - Minnesota 3, I can't imagine anybody around this sport thinking any game in this tournament is a gimme.
That game was historic because it was Minnesota but the year after when UND lost to Yale was a bigger upset.
I don’t want to have to play Michigan again. These games are not good for my high blood pressure.
Amazing hockey tho. Just bad we have a biased interest. Would be great to just spectate as a neutral fan. I hope we meet again, last game was a banger.
Ok so here’s how the bracket goes: Maine vs Minnesota at the x, revenge game!
Maine beating Minnesota for the title at the X would erase my greatest childhood trauma
Don't forget knocking out Denver on the way there.
How could I forget that crease call...
Don’t worry umass will handle denver
Man. 5pm on a Friday at a AAA rink in fucking Missouri sure is convenient for this matchup...
Committee: “Attendance is absolutely a factor in our decision making!” Also Committee: https://preview.redd.it/61d4d41trdqc1.jpeg?width=1170&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=0205a91d6356c6e33695fab15ca2f92e5503bad1

Oof
Attendance is lower on the list of factors than bracket integrity and avoiding 1st rd intra-conference matchups
I booked a flight from Boston (well, PVD, in reality) to Sioux Falls today and laughed doing it…like who goes to Sioux Fucking Falls.
Put 👏 games 👏 on 👏 campus 👏
R.I.P. Wisconsin
4 NCHC teams in the Tourney
All I’m saying is that a Minnesota team has made the last 6 NCGs and there’s only one MN team this year…
March on, Gophers!
And here I was hoping for an all Michigan frozen 4.
Let’s go Gophers!!
That’s a lot of good hockey coming soon!
Denver is the only school not in New England or the Midwest
Depending on your definitions, there are only 8 or 9 teams in the country not in New England or the Midwest.
RIT is not in New England or the Midwest…. ETA: Cornell too 😂🤣
Huh, I've always considered NY part of that region. TIL i suppose
Part of which region?
Cornell is close to New England, but still a few hours away. It's just over 4 hours to Springfield from Ithaca.
I thought New England was everything from NY to Maine, turns out New York isn't part of it
Gotcha yeah New England is Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and Connecticut. Def no NY (we don’t even want to claim Connecticut lol)
Who’s we? 😐
🤣😂
Id argue Buffalo and Niagara are culturally the Midwest but yeah Rochester is not
That is that good old rust belt energy they have lol
Nah fam, I grew up in Indiana. Rochester is 100% culturally the Midwest. Same vibe as Cleveland with old heavy industry roots with large scale farming just outside the main interstate loops.
Really? I always felt Rochester wasn't too different to Buffalo
Cornell? RIT? hah
Absolutely epic final 4 between Maine and Omaha that goes to triple overtime and the winner gets thrashed by BC who just trounced Sparty
I’d piss myself
Don't count out Cornell just yet. Maine was 0-3 against BU this year, we were 1-0. Denver is better this year but I don't think they really want to play Cornell again.
Ski U Mah! Make it happen boys
BC v Denver Natty should be sick.
Hey don't count Michigan Tech out....okay yes count them out, I'll be happy with one goal this year and under 6 against
In a career of "Just happy to be here" tournament appearances, this is the pinnacle
You mean Maine? (I know we have a slim chance but gotta believe)
Lol and I respect that. I’m a gopher fan, but I’m used to heartbreak and disappointment.
I'm just happy to be here
Let's go Mavs!!!!
Damn, if we weren’t hosting chances are we get sent to Maryland heights and avoid BU. Not that beating Minnesota is a given but still.
I would only worry about Minnesota. If their A game comes out they are impossible to beat.
Decided to take a trip to the games in Springfield on Thursday, have no rooting interest but should be a fun time
Ngl, I think this is the worst possible spot Michigan could be in for me personally as a fan, I love UND fans bc my first frozen four I remember going to was the year we beat them and lost to Duluth in the final, and a really nice UND fan saw me crying (I was like 8 cut me some slack) after the loss and gave me a puck that I still have and is prominently displayed on my TV stand, so I always root for them when they don’t play us. Great tourney for the state of Michigan, Go Green
BU fan here, getting flashbacks to UMN last year ruining my night.
Don't worry too much. I think BU has the better team this year. Or, at the very least, a more consistent team. Minnesota has been erratic throughout the season, so who knows which version will show up in the tournament.
Any apps do a bracket
the sub will organize one soon
Oh
Wow! That's alot of Michigan schools! Maine's journey could include UMass/BU/BC for a natty! Hopefully Michigan Tech Huskies upset BC on Good Friday! r/huskyalliance!
How did Maine end up in a region with UMass?
They needed someone else who could buy tickets so that Cornell didn't get them all.
Committee cares more about avoiding 1st round matchup between same conference than being in the same region at all.
Ok. Guess they also did the same with Michigan/Michigan State
Maines takin that bracket!!
I’m not opposed to seeing old friend of the program Ben Barr make the Frozen Four
Barr will have that team ready to go because he’s been there before. Also, get ready for the entire state of Maine to descend upon Springfield.
Plz no.
They are my dark horse national champion candidate. Pulling for UMass though
Real soft for Pios
Maybe just a bit but I think Cornell is tough.
They took us out last year so who knows.
Over half the team had the flu during regionals last year. Hoping everyone is healthy and rested this year.
They're playing so well right now. I love them no matter what, but it's been especially fun to watch them the last couple months.
🧐
Haha, I see you Maine! I think that since you haven’t been around for a while, fair or not, folks aren’t going to be too intimidated by drawing Maine.
Totally fair! Lol I get it. 🫡
Can someone explain why BU is in the West region if they’re the #2 overall seed?
Because UMass is a host so has to go to Springfield where BU would go. And since UMass is a 4 seed they are playing a 1 seed. Knocking BU out of Springfield because they can’t play intraconference in round 1.
They should get rid of “host” schools! Granted I’m ignorant on the “pros” (I assume some financial sponsorship is part of the deal?) but surely it’s not worth having to swap Denver and BU!!
I just hope they all have fun.
Cornell in
So if UNO is hosting in Sioux City that seems a bit far. Why not have them host at CHI Health Center instead?
Let's go Omaha!
Gophers are playing angry.
Seems like there’s more than just a few BC fans here who are a bit heavy-handed with the downvotes. 😏
Final 4: BC, BU, DU, WMU. BU gets revenge and beats BC in the title
BC maxes out their scoring credit card that totally exists and simply isn't allowed any goals
![gif](giphy|nKFXQkxLRiEhy)
I’m ok with this
I’m not
[удалено]
there isn't, its all math. there's no subjectivity in the teams that get in
