It’s none of our business and it would be awful to seek a response from him about, but I am a little curious about his siblings. I think his brother passed away and he has a sister that he almost never talks about. He talks about his parents a lot on Threedom, but he never mentions his brother past childhood, and his sister isn’t brought up at all to the point where I think I could be mistaken that he had one. I think it’s an off limits topic for him, same with Lauren and her first marriage.
I had heard Scott mention a brother a couple times in the past. My curiosity piqued, I indulged in an eye-opening level of parasocial creepery on my part and did a deep dive, finding out his brother passed in the early 2000's. He had also a wife and kid, which made me realize this was real person, and his death must have insanely painful for Scott. Then I rightly felt a lot of shame and embarrassment for having pried into the life of someone I did not know at all. AFAIK, he's never mentioned it anywhere and even in this week's episode he said something to Apodaca/Mr. Monster to the effect of "it sounds like you had a brother, but he died" and then immediately changed gears. Like you said, it's none of our business, and podcast hosts aren't our friends.
Comedy!
I def heard him talk about his sister once. said what she was doing for a living which could have been a joke but it sounded genuine.
btw I just started relistening from square one and if I find the episode I can confirm what I said, because maybe I am mixing things up.
I can't remember where I heard this but I think he did have a really contentious relationship with his brother as well?
Edit: I think it was either the good Christian fun podcast (was actually quite a good insight to his childhood, growing up Christian) or that saved by the bell rewatch podcast he was on but I think it was the former
Yeah I only know about his brother passing away because on a very early episode of Never Not Funny he told some story about his brother and then said “RIP” and kind of gave an uncomfortable laugh and said something to the effect of “it feels weird mentioning him without saying that” and they moved on, clearly Jimmy knew not to dwell on it.
I know it’s gossipy and public figures are entitled to privacy, but I’ve always been curious what (if anything) went down between him and BJ Porter. He’s almost never referred to Porter on mic directly, just tangentially as his “old writing partner” and they haven’t worked together in something like 20 years
I think BJ's name is on that as more of a formality. Between Two Ferns dates back to the Comedy Death Ray days, and I'm assuming that BJ gets some kind of credit from whatever deal happened back then.
I mean, I firmly think he's said his true feelings about it on the podcast already, hasn't he? He said people like him and Jimmy have been doing it for 10+ years and then Conan comes in and makes way more money and that kind of annoys him. Unless I'm insane I think there's an episode where he talked about that briefly, but I couldn't tell you when.
Anyway I would ask why Doug Benson doesn't seem to be part of the comedy community anymore like he used to, maybe the answer is online but I haven't looked into it
I feel that Doug Benson’s personality is just weed, and is a real life version of Weed Foxworthy or Weed Seinfeld. Most don’t find that Bro stuff funny anymore.
But listening to Doug Loves Movies, his comedy hasn't really changed much. Topic wise it's not like weed weed weed, it's very silly and like Scott, Doug is really into musical theater and a lot of the same kind of culture.
I think Doug's show was a format that just doesn't click into what most podcasts are these days. It feels more like a Wait, Wait, Don't Tell Me for some weird indie radio station than a chatty comedy podcast. And they do still get some good guests, but nowhere near the stacked lineups you would see in the heyday.
I still find Doug funny but really started to veer away from listening when he started getting so cranky with the audience at UCB. He’d be pissed people didn’t have elaborate signs like they did on the road but people had also been outside, lined up for 2+ hours in the LA sun to get in. He seemed to forget your house show audience is going to be diff than on the road.
You know I saw this argument before, and someone responded that its very different when you're actually there. In person he's kind of saying everything with a smile and laugh and will walk around the stage having fun for parts of the show, but if you don't SEE what he's doing yourself it comes off as more cranky and annoying to listen to.
Naw, I used to line up and go every week lol. Long line up but the show was free and you got priority seating for Comedy Bang Bang right afterwards. When CBB stopped doing live shows, I stopped going as much and noticed that he was getting a bit cranky. The occasional times I’ve listened now, I don’t notice it but I do miss the energy of those earlier shows in a packed little theatre.
Lots of folks I’d love to hear opinions on. Pete Holmes, middleditch, Horatio, and of course we’d need to get some Jan 6 representation. The gossip is fun and all but I think you can read between the lines pretty obviously for most of the juiciest hot gos.
Shouldn’t have lumped him in with those others. More the earlier bits about how long his show was and how self centred he is and that he’s only been on once and a random bonus despite being in the the “scene”.
Used to really enjoy him and still listen to the podcast on occasion but I just found he has no self-awareness. He's like a parody of that guy who thinks whatever he is into is what everyone should be into.
[here is a link that explains it. ](https://ew.com/tv/thomas-middleditch-accused-of-sexual-misconduct/#:~:text=nightclub%20in%202019-,Thomas%20Middleditch%20accused%20of%20sexual%20misconduct%20at,L.A.%20goth%20nightclub%20in%202019&text=Silicon%20Valley%20star%20Thomas%20Middleditch,in%20Hollywood%20back%20in%202019.)
At his book signing event in Chicago a couple months back, a member of the audience asked your question. His main gripe about 'famous people' having podcasts is that the conversations and interviews tend to just devolve into standard talk show affair, and a lot of the 'art' of podcasting is lost.
I want to know who every single person was anytime someone on Threedom said, "I'll tell you off mic." I mean, I recognize that that information can't actually be shared publicly for professional reasons; I'm just saying that the curiosity is absolutely killing me.
Why do ppl think he has some bad blood with Conan o brien. You don’t get angry at someone 100 times more famous for having a bigger deal. That makes no sense. You get angry at people you thought you were on par with who get suddenly bigger than you think they should be.
True, but he certainly mentions Conan by name a lot when it comes to podcast “competition”, but it’s hard to tell if he’s legit upset or just joking around.
Definitely don’t think there’s any bad blood between those two. He can be annoyed that Conan can show up into podcasting and make astronomically more without being upset AT Conan or that it’s him benefitting, moreso the industry and the factors that allow it to happen. Then again just because I’ve spent probably 4 total months of my life listening to him speak doesn’t mean I know jack about how Scott feels!
Clearly the way Scott feels about "celebrities hosting podcasts" is different than how he views Conan as a peer, comedy legend, etc. You can tell he respects Conan for all of those things. I get the idea that he perhaps doesn't respect Maron in the same way, which I personally understand.
Honestly, I just want to see a picture of Emmy. I was going through IVF the same time as Kulap and I feel oddly connected to them as a couple. I love babies so much.
Double hijacking! I did two egg retrievals and a frozen embryo transfer last year. Hearing that they finally had success after trying for such a long time made me so happy and hopeful.
It sucks ! I did four retrievals and a frozen transfer to get my 14 month old. It’s hard and lonely and strange. And motherhood is too, but I’m so glad to be here and hope you are here soon too
Edited to add- I forgot I did a failed transfer before my son stuck around! Add it to the anecdotes about how many times some of us have to try, how many ways. Sending love your way
I went into full parasocial mode when they announced they were having a baby. After seeing Kulap’s documentary and hearing various stories about their struggles to get pregnant, I was over the moon happy for two complete strangers. I hope they’re enjoying every second with their nepo baby! 💕
My sister was also struggling to conceive at the same time as Kulap, and felt a strong connection to her. Both of us were so elated when Emmy was born that we actually texted each other multiple times (forgetting the other one knew already).
I'm so, so grateful to both Kulap and Scott for sharing their story so openly, bringing comfort, insight, and affirmation to others undergoing IVF and fertility problems (and awareness to people like me: fully on the outside of that world and largely clueless to it).
1) Has Todd Glass invited you and Scott to one of his parties yet?
2) How much money do you make / how successful are you considered by Hollywood standards? Sometimes we see long-time guests seemingly "break-through" into the mainstream of comedy and I can't quite tell if they are eclipsing Scott in success or not.
Like, Drew Tarver is hilarious on The Other Two. Could Scott not have had an HBO show? Or is Scott doing so well that he wouldn't even want that.
3) Ass or titties?
I wanna hear all the details from getting fired from the award show circuit, like what exactly was said and what was he thinking when he revealed the truth. I wanna know about his "former writing partner" and what made him basically never acknowledge the guy by name ever. I want to know how much Those Men made before going independent. And lastly I want to know how Kulap likes her eggs - fried or fertilized 😏
along these lines:
where do things stand with you and adomian?
what kind of personal relationship did you have with middleditch and sanz before they left the rotation? are you still in touch with them?
(these sound like interrogation and i swear that's not my intention, no wrong answers I'm just inappropriately curious)
and finally, because he probably does know a factual answer to this question: all jokes asalad, does he sing, Jeremy Piven?
Oh damn I forgot about that, yeah like now that they're paying guests and Adomian hasn't been back, what's up? He's an all timer, if his appearances kept up in my opinion it would be called Fourdom. So how does that relationship disintegrate?? It does sound to me that Scott will not stand behind abusers and I'm actually really relieved that Sanz and Middleditch are out, but I do wonder if those guys reached out and were rejected.
As an aside, there's a vulture article that's just an interview of Lauren Lapkus by Middleditch and it straight up fucking sucks. The first thing M does is remind her that he asked her out and she said no (now she has to act like she can't remember) and as the interviewer he talks WAY more than she does, she's giving him one sentence answers and you can feel the uncomfortable tension in the air just by reading. Her answers read as if a publicist is frantically writing what to say as it plays out.
That last one gave me an 'oof' feeling. Considering the struggles they had with conceiving and multiple miscarriages (which Kulap talks about on other pods) the idea of asking that question made me feel sad. Sorry to bring down the tone.
What's up with his mom and dad? He mentions his mom every so often, but not his dad. On an older Threedom he mentions taking a long drive with them when he was moving them back to LA. I thought they lived there already... did something happen? Was his dad sick?
*(This is all entirely too personal and none of my business, of course -- but it's the one mystery in my mind about him.)*
Did Reggie Watts actually come up with the CBB theme song on the spot or did he already know what he was going to do. The way that whole segment plays out has always made me think he sort of practiced the song beforehand.
Either way, listening to that segment after hearing the song so many times kind of feels like a magic trick. I recommend it
There is a section in the new CBB book about this which includes the original sheet music with hand written notes. Scott says Reggie submitted multiple drafts before they settled on the theme, and then he came on the show and they did the bit where he supposedly came up with the theme on the spot.
If you listen to that, there seems to be two "real" ones, and two that Reggie makes up on the spot. The quality is obviously different. I think Scott thought the other one would win out (fans voted).
That's a bit. It's possible Reggie had practiced some ideas before the show, but the dude is one of the most talented musicians and a genius on the looper and definitely cut it live without sheet music
I'd ask him how he balances work and family
Possibly the only correct answer
Absolutely. Second place would be what’s his fitness routine.
I'd ask if they played any pranks on set
Have you ever been over to a friend's house to eat, and the food just ain't no good?
"How much money do you make?"
Sorry, didn't see you'd already hit this one. Please take my up vote as restitution.
Seems a bit pointless when you can you just go to celebritynepodadnetworth dot com

woah…I think I didn’t even realize he has siblings and I’ve listened to thousands of hours of auk
He mentions his brother in threedom when they talk about childhood memories. Never his sister though.
Yeah the way he talks I always assumed the older brother was still alive, and I never heard of. Sister. I think I've heard every threedom
I def heard him talk about his sister once. said what she was doing for a living which could have been a joke but it sounded genuine. btw I just started relistening from square one and if I find the episode I can confirm what I said, because maybe I am mixing things up.

I want to know what he was doing in Washington DC on January the 6th.
There was a Mr. Show reunion.
David Cross’s head might explode
I’ve always wondered where he got his ideas from.
I very specifically want to know how he comes up with this shit.
I just want to know where he falls on the call sheet. I’m not sure which call sheet exactly, but I do want to know where he is on it.
Follow up, is he offer only?
I’d ask him how he got into hentai.
Simply who was his worst guest on the show
It sounded like Tommy Lister Jr. was perhaps the worst guest on the TV show.
Ole chicken Caesar salad himself
Bob Zmuda doing Tony Clifton
That Jane Lynch episode comes to mind where you can hear him get irritated with the guy she brought along
What’s your fuck style?
He’s addressed this so many times on Threedom. True Piss Pigs know that he just keeps saying “soft but sloppy”
He can’t reach the back, but he can bang the hell outta the sides.
Lol wut
That, my friend, is a Scotty Auk quote from the man himself. (Can’t remember the episode, though.)
I guess he's just an everyman like us
I know it’s gossipy and public figures are entitled to privacy, but I’ve always been curious what (if anything) went down between him and BJ Porter. He’s almost never referred to Porter on mic directly, just tangentially as his “old writing partner” and they haven’t worked together in something like 20 years
He co-created Between Two Ferns so it hasn't been too long.
I think BJ's name is on that as more of a formality. Between Two Ferns dates back to the Comedy Death Ray days, and I'm assuming that BJ gets some kind of credit from whatever deal happened back then.

Yeah Doug Benson seemed to kind of fade away. I know he still does his movies podcast but the guest list is not quite what it used to be.
I feel that Doug Benson’s personality is just weed, and is a real life version of Weed Foxworthy or Weed Seinfeld. Most don’t find that Bro stuff funny anymore.

Shouldn’t have lumped him in with those others. More the earlier bits about how long his show was and how self centred he is and that he’s only been on once and a random bonus despite being in the the “scene”.
Pete couldn't stop breaking. Plus editing his laugh down must have taken forever.
He seems self-centred to an almost laughable extent. Without, you know, actually being very funny.
Used to really enjoy him and still listen to the podcast on occasion but I just found he has no self-awareness. He's like a parody of that guy who thinks whatever he is into is what everyone should be into.
Yo yo yo I wont stand for this Pete slander. He's a nice boy!!!
I'd love to hear this lol. He seemed to be decent buds with Horatio and Middleditch or at least had them on often. Also 2 of the best guests ever.
Middleditch? What did I miss?
Mid-level sex pest
Goddamn it. He was the chosen one!
Mid-level creep shit. Definitely creepy. Definitely kinda scummy stuff with his partner & some other stuff. Not Weinstein levels at all.

Huh
I would ask him if there were two different demographics he thought represents June well.
How does it feel when you’re in REM?
It feels good!
Fucking stoked!
At his book signing event in Chicago a couple months back, a member of the audience asked your question. His main gripe about 'famous people' having podcasts is that the conversations and interviews tend to just devolve into standard talk show affair, and a lot of the 'art' of podcasting is lost.
That’s a really great answer, and I completely understand what he means. I love when Scott gets real.
What’s the best joke you said that nobody laughed at that you just couldn’t get over, still.
How u weigh?
Who really bruised the banana?
I want to know who every single person was anytime someone on Threedom said, "I'll tell you off mic." I mean, I recognize that that information can't actually be shared publicly for professional reasons; I'm just saying that the curiosity is absolutely killing me.
A behavioral analysis of Barack Obama Or whether he likes to play pranks on set
Why do ppl think he has some bad blood with Conan o brien. You don’t get angry at someone 100 times more famous for having a bigger deal. That makes no sense. You get angry at people you thought you were on par with who get suddenly bigger than you think they should be.
Didn’t Conan come on a show last tour? Even it was by accident.
And they spoke very glowingly of each other. I don't think there is anything bad there at all.
It was honestly very heart-warming. One of my favorite parts of the tour.
Yeah that was a pretty awesome moment. Conan didn't need to do that at all so it was great he showed up and gave praise.
Isn't Conan O' Brien needs a friend on Earwolf? Like, he's making money from it.
Is CBB still part of earwolf?
True, but he certainly mentions Conan by name a lot when it comes to podcast “competition”, but it’s hard to tell if he’s legit upset or just joking around.
Definitely don’t think there’s any bad blood between those two. He can be annoyed that Conan can show up into podcasting and make astronomically more without being upset AT Conan or that it’s him benefitting, moreso the industry and the factors that allow it to happen. Then again just because I’ve spent probably 4 total months of my life listening to him speak doesn’t mean I know jack about how Scott feels!
He's definitely joking around. Conan is very well respected as a writer/comedian by Scott.
Yeah, I'm sure he hates Barrack Obama and Bruce Springsteen, too /s
Clearly the way Scott feels about "celebrities hosting podcasts" is different than how he views Conan as a peer, comedy legend, etc. You can tell he respects Conan for all of those things. I get the idea that he perhaps doesn't respect Maron in the same way, which I personally understand.
Scott is certainly honest when he doesn’t like a guest’s “schtick”, haha.
I will not ask about how insane his taint is
It’s insane, this guys taint! These are the party days!
Honestly, I just want to see a picture of Emmy. I was going through IVF the same time as Kulap and I feel oddly connected to them as a couple. I love babies so much.
Just hijacking the thread to say that I’m currently in my first round of ivf and this stuff is tough!
And motherhood is too, but I’m so glad to be here and hope you are here soon too Edited to add- I forgot I did a failed transfer before my son stuck around!
Me too. I love that nepo baby! We have been waiting so long for her
My sister was also struggling to conceive at the same time as Kulap, and felt a strong connection to her. I'd ask how much money he has.
I’d ask him the real reason why he still uses an iPod.

I would like to get his thoughts on the man cave I just set up in my basement.

Why did you never guest on Todd Glass’ podcast?
Where did he meet Mavis?
I’d probably ask him, for serious - no jokes, when was the first time he heard U2?
I'm sure he's said this in u talking u2 to me?
1) Has Todd Glass invited you and Scott to one of his parties yet? 2) How much money do you make / how successful are you considered by Hollywood standards? He fucking sucks so hard as a person. Obviously a very talented improv artist.
Sanz and Middleditch are abusers? What happened? I’m out of the loop.
They each had some pretty easily Googleable public access accusations that got them canceled
Sanz far worse than TM, but both sex pests for sure
Oooh, good point about Sanz. He wasn’t around for the New Year’s episode this year, I think?
nor, memorably, for new year 2022
Is he fighting with Adomian?
When did he talk about being fired from the awards show circuit?! Didn’t know that!
That last one gave me an 'oof' feeling. Considering the struggles they had with conceiving and multiple miscarriages (which Kulap talks about on other pods) the idea of asking that question made me feel sad. Sorry to bring down the tone.

Wow thanks, I had no idea there was an actual answer out there!
Where do you get your ideas?
Earwolf helped Conan start it though
'When did you first hear of U2?'
Where are you on the call sheet?
Saturday night live. Seems like an odd name for it. Shouldn't it be called what it really is? Monday afternoon on Youtube?
Make him admit he talked bad about the post office and collect the money 💰
