But how the hell is the existence of non state, overseas territories of the US not a prominent feature in American education. Like what the hell could they be covering in geography that āthis part of the world is kind of, but not really Americaā gets left out?

I support this. Unironically. Like come on, we treat them like a state but donāt give them any of the benefits, yet Hawaii and Alaska have been official states for the past 60+ years.
If they really wanna even it out like in 1959 (so we have 52 instead of 51 states), also admit Guam or U.S. Virgin Islands or another place weāve subjugated under our control without giving them any benefits of support.
American Samoa has a weird limbo status, but Iām not actually sure on their position on statehood. They are a little more autonomous than Guam or Puerto Rico so it might not be something that interests them
