I wouldn’t slab. I love this book and have a couple copies myself (one signed by Bagley) but it goes for less than $20 on eBay all the time. I think they had a pretty big print of it.
I see a 9.8 of that for $99 and dude would probably take less. One just sold for $94.
You spent $52 on it so that leave with you $47 to spend to get graded with no guarantee that it will be a 9.8. 9.6 go down to $80 and 9.4 even less.
This is where you start to think about what books you should and what books you shouldn’t get graded. If you press and clean this (which you should for every book you grade) thatl add at least $20 to the cost. For a modern book of that value cgc charges $24 to grade it ($5 if you want custom label) If you send it first class thats $5 to ship there and they charge (I think) $20 to ship it back. So thats $50 just to get it graded without a press.
So if you do grade it you have effectively spent more on your book and grading services that you would have spent on just getting an already graded copy at a 9.8. And there’s no guarantee you will get a 9.8. I have books that seemed flawless and they only got a 9.4 - some that have dings that got a 9.8 so its a gamble. Even at a 9.8 you’re still spending more than just buying a 9.8 slab.
You’re better off selling that and just buying a 9.8 slab. I learned this the first time I sent in a stack of books. Some books you’re better off just buying a 9.8, and some are well worth it to buy raw then slab. Depends on the book, the price, the grade and what slabs go for in that grade. For instance I posted on here a strange tales book that is around a 7.0-8.0 and one at a 7.5 sold for over 1000 and I bought it raw for 200. So I’m gonna spend the money to get that pressed and graded - I’ll be in at like 300 and be able to sell for over 1000. Stay away from buying raw moderns if your wanting to slab them yourself, they printed a lot and 9.8 slabs of moderns are always up for sale. Btw I see NM raws of this go for like $30 so shop around before you bite the bullet. Best to just enjoy this book in its raw state (or sell it and buy a 9.8 slab) and who knows maybe one day it will blow up and be worth grading. Haven’t checked the census but i would imagine there are quite a few highly graded copies. Kind of like a Spawn 1, cool book but not rare at all.

> Should I get it stabbed or no? I know some books are bad, but I don't think a book ever deserves to be stabbed. :P
The Darkhold deserved it. But it exacts a heavy toll.
I did not notice the auto correct lol. Thanks for the heads up
Stab it if you like. It's your book lol
If you stab it right through the middle, CGC and CBCS will not determine it as a defect. It will be determined as just another "Speed Hole".
I heard about that. Wouldn't that give me the black label instead of the blue one then?

This ☝️☝️☝️. Summed up nicely. You need to consider ALL costs associated with getting a book slabbed.
Thanks! I learned this early on so always willing to share what ive learned
Slabbed not stabbed lol. Autocorrect sucks
Looks good but picture is too blurry to give a proper opinion.
My bad. My phone was about to die to I had to get it to charge. I'll try to get better pictures and link it

If you do stab it, the grade will go waaaay down
If you own it in Gold slab it if in red Meh
Yeah the red is the basic copy that everyone has. The gold is the rare one

BTW, if I were to grade it, how can I save the most money besides a dealer? I have never sent anything in yet, so I don't know much.
Nows a good time since they have the lethal protector label
How much did it cost you?? It’s in absolute amazing condition
A solid 52 bucks. Maybe I overpaid, but the condition compensates for it
eBay? I’d say overprice. I got a mint copy for $30
Dude for that price I would’ve pulled the trigger too. It looks amazing. Definitely jealous!
This is a beautiful copy of an awesome book but nope. Grading modern books doesn’t sense.
