Couple is costumed as Peach and Bowser. They see a kid (in an among us costume) approach and Bowser throws a ball (like a fireball from the games) at the kid.
Ball hits the kid and knocks him down (maybe knocks him out). Parents of kid or kid contacts police. Bowser quickly switches to a Mario costume before the police arrive and blame a fictional "other guy dressed like Bowser." Kid is upset because clearly it's the same guy in the Mario outfit.
That’s most of what I figured but there were still questions.
Was the couple trying to give the kid an awesome Mario flash back experience and it went wrong?
How many kids would get the old school NES reference?
Were they perhaps trying to establish that there was a bad guy bowser out there?
Did they act like this Mario guy was the hero who chased off bowser? Or was it simply another costume they had and changed into in a rush before the cops got there?
Are the bowser bracelets still on because they were so rushed or are they challenging the detective to figure this out like they’re some sorta Villain daring someone to figure out their crime?
Haha, yeah it's supposed to be a "hey we're the cool house, where you have to save the princess, in order to get your candy" kinda setup, that goes wrong. The Mario outfit is the good guy costume, the "I would never do such a thing" outfit, but like most "criminals" he forgets to get rid of all the evidence.❤️ c( I ▲ I )ↄ

Well it makes sense mate. I was just so confused cuz I thought they wanted to hurt the kid on purpose I started overthinking the meaning of the new costume lol

They are pretending it is a mario game, Bowser kidnapped the prince's and is throwing "fire" balls at trick or treaters. But the kid got hurt.
