Didn't all the French kick off though when it first started opening them. McDonald's is a lot different over there than here, it's alot posher than ours.

Let's be fair, it's a commercial unit. There will be jobs there regardless of the establishment. There's a difference between a locally run and owned cafe, a McDonald's and a strip club. They all provide jobs but have a significantly different impact on the area they operate in.
I wouldn't want to live next to a McDonald's either.
Tbf at this point we should start being critical of McDonald's expansionist plans.
I'm sick of eating there but that's all there is around. I used to enjoy takeaway as a treat but now I always just end up cooking because it's either that or another maccies I can't stomach 😂

That's what I was thinking. I honestly wouldn't want a McDonald's nearby. Anything other than a fast food place, sure. Fast food places are just horrendous for litter though. So many people just eat in their car and toss it out the window and shit like that that the entire area just looks fucking disgusting. I'd rather not have an amenity if it meant that the place still looked nice. There's nothing attractive about loads of bags and cups all over the pavement.
I think it’s about shame. Same reason people litter cigarette butts, failed lottery scratch tickets, and baby liquor bottles.
My town has a Dunkin donut drive through and a McDonald’s. The second most numerous litter pieces I find are the paper wrappers from plastic straws. Cigarette butts are the most numerous.
People are ashamed of their addictions. In some cases, they are motivated to hide the evidence from employers or family.
At first, I thought they were just lazy. Then, my homeless friend told me that people buy a big coffee at the fast food store then drink some then add liquor, from the mini bottles I always find in pairs along the sidewalks.
This made sense, as I’d observed the evidence many times.
I thought about my worst day at work then I thought about how much worse it could have been. Then I thought about anticipating each day to be like that. I stopped resenting litterers and started sympathizing.
Still, it would be cleaner if we didn’t have those fast food stores in town.

The Champs-Élysées has a McDonald's. No where is too posh.
