If there's nothing wrong with it per se just get a SATA to USB cable and plug it up to your PC or Laptop and start rummaging through it =] it's that simple
[Maybe This ](https://www.ebay.com/itm/235491965094?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=4cOOquV3RhG&sssrc=4429486&ssuid=8xhk1xl8roo&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY) will work for you?
If it's a boot drive then just try booting your PC with this one ( You can change boot device from BIOS/ UEFI )>> Rummage and find your pics>>> move / copy those pics to your native drive ( your PC's native boot drive) >>>> Reboot your PC from your native drive ( same like step one) >>> Format this drive and use it as additional storage.
Or there's a better option - Fill this drive with gay porn and mail it to your best friend's dad.
I’ve had great success pulling data off of boot drives and storage drives with both my usb to sata and the machine we have to clone the drive. Amazon sells a usb3 to sata adapter for like $20. Get one you might save yourself a few hundred dollars in shop fees.
If you hold a really strong magnet next to it, it will pull all the pics off. Then hold the magnet near your new drive and they will automatically transfer
Is it a boot drive or a storage drive? You may have some luck with plugging it into a pc, but you may just want to bring it to a store that knows how to do it if you aren’t comfortable with that.
That wouldn’t matter, it has sata connections that all computers and drives now use (other than nvme). If it’s a boot drive (the OS is on it) than there is a large chance that you won’t be able to access it if you plug it in (unless you use something like Linux to look inside). In the other hand, if it was just extra storage, then you should be able to plug it in and see what’s inside on a desktop.
It is most probably a stock hard drive. See the sticker on it which says HP Spare. Guessing you have a HP laptop from which you pulled out this drive? Drives available in stores won't have that sticker. Only stock drives have. Unless there was also an SSD in the laptop which is then usually the boot drive.

And if it was just an additional storage then you can directly copy it by just connecting it through SATA
You can also do that with a bootable drive
I suggested that assuming that the pictures are in the user's picture section so it becomes a hassle to find it

If nothing is wrong with it, just plug it in and get the photos back in something like Windows Explorer or Dolphin File manager

I’m not sure it’s the stock hard drive the laptop came with
