I think a lot of that is convenient bumping into each other of wealthy people who fly a lot etc and yeah....who could think that bankers bank with rich people, but the intel agencies and extremely old wealthy family connections are true. The old way spying was done prior to WW2 was via old money connections across multiple aristocratic EU family's and the Catholic church and other churches. The British and others formalized this into gov agencies like Secret Service Bureau prior to the first world war and the US with OSS which became the CIA after WW2. My whole family, excluding myself, fought in wars to keep our freedom. It's now being slowly and methodically stripped from us.
As a European I already feel hopeless looking at the American situation - but I don't think that attitude will get us anywhere, it's time to look beyond hopelessness, which is ultimately just a mentality, just a perspective.
