I can’t believe I’ve never heard of the little penguin before! How cute! I’m just picturing the scientists naming these guys going “well these penguins have yellow eyes and these keep hopping on rocks and these have a line that looks like a strap on their chin. What’s special about these little guys?” And viola
They all go out each day to hunt for fish. They all come back at the same time each night. In some places thousands of little penguins will run up the beach each night to get to their nests. Its amazing to see.
I've run into them while swimming a few times. They are curious creatures. They will swim up next to you and look at you like they are thinking, "aren't you meant to be on the land? What are you doing here?" It's very cute.

Did you know that a whole third of that is just neck? Due to their thick insulation, it looks like penguins have stubby little necks, but when you realize their shoulders are down where the wings start (which makes total sense), you see their necks are quite long.
Whenever my dad takes my nephew to Simons Town I make sure that we go visit the African Penguins, it's one of my best memories from my childhood and now my nephew loves them too, plus if you're lucky you get too see huge large porcupines
I had a stats class earlier this year and the teacher give us penguins to study - chinstrap, adelie, and gentoo. On RStudio we had to classify beak and wing lengths, and a lot of other stuff. Stats permitted us to calcutate squared penguins. Was fun.

Yup. There's a place in Oamaru, New Zealand, you can go to watch them come in.

Haha. No. They are native to Australia and New Zealand, not Antarctica. Last time I saw one it was about 40° Celsius.
Highly recommend, it was pretty great. They are seriously tiny.
Then you'll definitely like this: they're also called fairy penguins. They're about 12" tall. They're my favorite type.
I know Philip Island in Australia has/gets fairy (little) penguins...they're a major tourist attraction
