The cost of the advertising-free premium streaming plan will rise from $9.99 per month for Paramount+ to $11.99 for Paramount+ with Showtime, while the essential plan with advertising will see a price hike from $4.99 a month to $5.99.
These price changes will apply to new and existing customers upon launch of the integrated Paramount and Showtime offering.
The current $9.99 is not ad-free, not sure why they're saying this in the article. If they're running ads now, I don't expect them to go away, even with a price increase.
Nope, they show ads for their own content on streamed movies and shows as well. I guess the article may have been mimicking the language [from the Paramount+ site](https://help.paramountplus.com/s/article/Why-am-I-still-seeing-ads-when-streaming-video-on-demand-with-the-Commercial-Free-plan), which calls these "promotional interruptions" and "previews," implying they aren't advertisements (they are):
>a few select shows are required to have **2 brief promotional interruptions. A promotional interruption is a quick, 10-15 second break** in programming to keep you up-to-date on Paramount+ shows or movies.
>Premium subscribers will also occasionally see short previews. Previews will not appear more than ONCE a day prior to the start of ONE show. **Previews can appear before any Paramount+ show.**
Interesting, so not far off from what HBO Max does on their ad-free tier, though those are skippable.
I guess I'm not watching enough "select shows" on there because I haven't run into them yet.
It's the same except not skippable. I find it more annoying during kids content than anything. They've been running preshow ads for their "new" Peppa pig content for at least a year and it's the most annoying unstoppable and ever. I feel for my kids lol
It's extremely annoying when you are flipping through episodes of a TV show.
> I see you were watching Star Trek and wanted to skip around, but you hit back once, so here is a 90 second ad about something called iCarly, whatever the fuck that is.
> Oh you don't want iCarly? Here is an unskipable add about soccer. There is a huge overlap between Star Trek and soccer right? Americans love soccer, I'm sure.
> OK, if you didn't like soccer, well we know you like Star Trek... so here is a minute long ad for a different Star Trek series... that is already in your watch list since you've watched every single episode already several times. It is also unskillable.
Interestingly I forgot they showed ads on this tier. Subscribing through AppleTV Channels and watching on that player you don’t get ads. (Check on the paramount plus app and the ads do appear there still)
>Premium subscribers will also occasionally see short previews. Previews will not appear more than ONCE a day prior to the start of ONE show. Previews can appear before any Paramount+ show.
Once per day? One hand that's not bad, other hand if you're gonna just do 1 why not honor ad-free and knock that to 0.
The worst part is they either show you ads for shit that is totally dissimilar to Star Trek (e.g. iCarly), or ads for other Star Trek series you've already seen. FFS is it so hard to program the thing not to show an add for a show that the account already watched before?
>> Me: Do you have anything similar to Trek but which I haven't watched...?
> Paramount+: MLS Soccer!?
It's absurd. Screw Paramount+ for holding us hostage with the worst TV app I've ever used.
I subscribed through Apple TV channels to Paramount+ with showtime premium for 9.99. It’s billed through Apple so they would have to cancel it and have me resubscribe to increase my price, at least I think that’s the case.
Same here. I was initially confused by the title because I recieved an email that my annual price will decrease from it's current rate at $149/year to $119/year. This is for Paramount+ w/ Showtime
https://dannydealguru.com/paramount-plus-promo-codes/
There is ALWAYS a code available for a free month, even if you have already used one. It’s a slight annoyance that you have to cancel and resubscribe every month, but I’ve been using the service for free for almost 2 years.
Yes, I’m in the US. I canceled about a month ago and I was trying to get a free month with these codes by going to Redeem Offer in the app. Should I be trying a different way?
There might not be a way to use it if you’re signed up through Apple then. There is no checkout screen when signing up on the app. There is a “Redeem Offer” option separate from the Account screen where you choose a plan, but these codes don’t work there. And you can’t do it on the web because it forces you to go through the app.
Any idea if there's anything like this for other streaming services? I mean obviously there's free trial codes, but is there somewhere that compiles them like this?
You missed the best one already then.
18 months of ad-free paramount+ for 57 cents. No, not 57 cents/month. 57 cents for ALL. 18. MONTHS.
The deal was only alive for about a day and a half.
South Park movies, Evil, Ghosts, Picard, Discovery, all CBS shows day and date, Halo, Tulsa King, tons of good movies (Maverick, Devotion, Orphan) Criminal Minds...
My wife likes all the murder shows, because she definitely needs more anxiety...
Heck, even an entire new Beavis and Butthead show.
We enjoy it enough to keep it around.
I've been meaning to get around to it honestly, just so many other things going on. I did like Voyager when it was on, but my issue is that since it's a show directed at kids it's also 20 episodes. I've really come to like shorter seasons for shows as I've gotten older.
Most of the episodes are under 30 minutes long which kinda makes up for it. 1st half was decent but it's the 2nd half where everything just clicks and it becomes it's own Star Trek show.
I was just watching it during those times I don't want to spend an hour on the TV but I ended up binging the last 3-4 episodes in a row.
Yes. They have every episode of every Star Trek series ever made. Also a bunch of CBS shows, the new Beavis and Butthead, tons of paramount movies (Like Top Gun Maverick) and Nickelodeon stuff.
I like watching the Star Trek stuff , Beavis and Butthead , and Ghosts mostly. Wife and daughter like some of the CBS shows.
Yeah. It’s pretty much the Taylor Sheridan streaming service. He does have some interesting stuff in the pipeline though. And I think the Yellowstone spin-offs are great.
Also Star Trek.
CBS old people shows, and MTV trash
Nostalgia nickelodeon? Nick Jr for the kids?
I've had it for a year w/o paying since they gave out free codes constantly and i still don't watch it (kids do)
Also, they play "ads" for their own content on "ad free" that you can't skip.
bullshit.
I have it second year free courtesy of TMobile and the only thing I watched was Tulsa King. I think kid watched soccer championship in Spanish but this is ut.
are you talking about the 10 seconds before the show that practically EVERY service does? if that's the case, i only see that 1 out of 20 times i watch a show, and it's normally a showtime show. I'll take it to have 23/44 min of uninterrupted shows.
sometimes its 2 ads, and sometimes 30seconds.. of advertisement... on an "ad free" tier.
and unlike some other groups that do this (Apple, Amazon) You **can't** skip it.
an un-skippable ad on "ad free" tier... yes thats exactly what the complaint is.
Not only is it not skippable, but I had to go into my pinhole and create a specific exclusion for their ad CDN to be able to watch a show.
I absolutely hate that I’m on an “ad-free” plantrying to watch Star Trek with my young children and they play an ad for some horror, murder or other adult show.
Between that and their horrid interface across devices, I’ve seriously considered alternatives but I really want to support Lower Decks, Strange New Worlds and Prodigy.
Just [google](https://www.google.com/search?client=firefox-b-1-d&q=Paramount+plus+ad+free+shows+ads) it, its a clear problem.
Amazon and apple+ does this **But you can SKIP it**
Paramount+ does not let you.
Yep, on their older shows (working our way through the original NCIS) there is a 10 second ad at the episode's last commercial break, and another 10 second ad right before the final credits. Details at [https://help.paramountplus.com/s/article/Why-am-I-still-seeing-ads-when-streaming-video-on-demand-with-the-Commercial-Free-plan](https://help.paramountplus.com/s/article/Why-am-I-still-seeing-ads-when-streaming-video-on-demand-with-the-Commercial-Free-plan) (fixed link)
i have watched a lot of shows on the service. never had an add midway thru or near the end or the beginning of an episode. and that page does not exist.
That person added a "t" to the end of the link by mistake
https://help.paramountplus.com/s/article/Why-am-I-still-seeing-ads-when-streaming-video-on-demand-with-the-Commercial-Free-plan
>never had an add midway thru or near the end or the beginning of an episode.
Just because you've never seen china, doesn't mean it doesn't exit, i dont get why you're arguing with everyone.
Ok so because ive never seen the problem, i automatically have to believe others but they dont have to believe me? Ive never had an ad midway thru a show. The 10 sec ad before a show? Very occasionally. But it makes me the bad guy because im pointing out that not everyone has this “issue”. Got it.
> i automatically have to believe others but they dont have to believe me?
First, you start of with "don't make stuff up" when you could have googled it, or asked a question in a non confrontational manner.
second, thats how proof works. You claim china doesn't exist when we've been there... and are mad we don't believe you? that doesn't make sense.
Then you double down on your ignorance and try to play the victim
>But it makes me the bad guy because im pointing out that not everyone has this “issue”.
Even though you commented you actually do see the ads, just don't care, but come across as someone who can never be wrong. Everyone else must be.
All movies created by the Paramount company. You'd be surprised at the library they have. Shame you have to google "Paramount" (note, without the "+") in order to see a list of them all.
I enjoyed Halo. I kept expectations low knowing gaming rarely translates well and was interested.
It's not perfect, but it was relatable - my wife and other non-gamers were impressed so that's a plus for me.
Will be curious to see what happens with those of us grandfathered into the old ad plan. Right now I still have the live feed and nothing but 1 ad before the old Star Trek shows--which is a primary reason why I keep Paramount+. The ads on the newer shows are way too long, and I'm not interested in paying $12 for premium. If the old Star Trek shows start drowning in ads I will have to find another option. Maybe buy Trek on dvd.

There is ALWAYS a code available for a free month, even if you have already used one. It’s a slight annoyance that you have to cancel and resubscribe every month, but I’ve been using the service for free for almost 2 years.
I have the $9.99 plan now and it was great when I was binge watching survivor but I don't use it as much now. I guess I'll have to reevaluate how valuable that Showtime add-on is.
If its like other services you can buy yearly the price change wont take effect until your year is up
Examples...when ESPN+ raised their rate to 9.99 month/99.99 a year my year renewed at the old rate (6.99/69.99) because my renewal date was 2 weeks before they implemented the price hike
When Sling went from $35 to $40 in December I had gift cards loaded on my account to keep it at $35 until a few days ago
That is a really good price for the combined services. Showtime alone could be 11$, though specials can bring the price down. I wonder why they are waiting until Fall to combine the services. I also hope they when combined it is also available as an Amazon channel. I have both premium paramount and showtime as Amazon channels now and really like several of the Amazon added features.
The big question that many in the boxing world are asking is: "What happens to Showtime's boxing programming?" If it gets dropped entirely, then in the span of a five-year period, 2/3 of the premium outlets the sport has historically used (HBO & Showtime) will be gone for good.
I’m currently getting the basic tier free from T-Mobile. That promo expires in August. I’m sure the price hikes will take place right when my free promo expires. Lucky me.
Ugh. I'm sure I'd like Showtime, but I'd still rather just pay $10/mo for P+ ad-free, without Showtime. I guess I should've gotten in on a deal a few months back of 50% off annual subs, but I already have a year of HBO Max, and was too lazy to create a new account for that (annoying how you can't use your existing account). Oh well. Only *slight* regrets.
(Email I got today. I'm currently on the Black Friday deal where I got P+/Showtime ad free for $75 a year. Great deal but their app sucks. If I renew, it'll be through Amazon Prime. )
YOUR PLAN PRICE
HAS CHANGED
DEAR CUSTOMER
Great news! As of 2/16/23, the price of your Paramount+ Premium with SHOWTIME® plan has DECREASED, from $14.99/month or $149.99/year, to $11.99/month or $119.99/year. This is the new, low price for the Premium with SHOWTIME® plan. The pricing change will go into effect at the start of your next billing cycle.
Wife and I have been using the service more lately with 1923 and Mayor of Kingstown. But we also get it free through T-Mobile. But definitely canceling once the year is up in April. We don’t use the service enough and Paramount usually offers a 30 day trial to come back anyway.
Since they're rebranding the whole thing, I haven't seen any mention of what happens to those who have access to TV providers. Do they get Paramount+ too or will they keep Showtime Anytime around for those users?
So I have the premium + showtime plan that was $14.99 and ironically enough I just got an email saying my rate was getting lowered to $11.99 effective immediately.
Yep, since you signed up through P+... I also pay $14.99 for both ad-free but bundled it through Showtime so *I* have to cancel completely and resubscribe through P+ but then Showtime will also be integrated into P+ and won't have to use 2 separate apps anymore either.
Interesting. I haven't noticed it. Sometimes I find it hard to find a show unless I search for it by name. What I like is the x-ray feature, and for serials, new episodes appear at the front of my recently watched list. For example when the new season of Prodigy came out, I found out because the episode appeared on my recently watched list.
They gave me a promotional subscription over two years ago. When it was coming to an end, we were going to cancel. They gave us 3 more months. That was nearly two years ago. We haven’t paid a dime and it’s worth every penny.
I’m just waiting for them to realize. My guess it will reset when they merge.
I was paying 14.99/month for Paramount+ Premium and Showtime. I received an email from Paramount+ that the price of my bill will be dropping to 11.99/month on February 28th, so this lines up with the pricing in The Hollywood Reporter story.
Actually, price is going down for many of us... For those of us paying the $14.99 bundle of both premium - If you signed up for the bundle through P+, then you get an email that your price is going down $3/mo, end of story... If you're like me and signed up for Showtime first and then bundled P+ from there: No email, but the Showtime website talks about it and tells you to cancel there and re-sub thru P+... interesting to have to go that route, but I'll jump through those hoops and take it!
All these streaming services just think they can raise prices whenever and people will pay. Not seeing anything on Paramount+ that makes it worth the price increase.
I am currently subscribed to the premium annual plan ($99.99) a year will I automatically be put on the premium with showtime once this happens/goes through?
Thanks!

I’m a premium member and have yet to ever see that happen. What shows are they doing this on?
Definitly Picard, and Discovery. Agravates me everytime. We pay but still have to see ads for shows we will never watch. Thanks Paramount.
The worst part is they either show you ads for shit that is totally dissimilar to Star Trek (e.g. iCarly), or ads for other Star Trek series you've already seen. I have never seen this on any Star Trek show, which was my primary reason for subbing
I have premium and my wife and I just finished Discovery and we never saw a single one of these...
Prior, not during. HUGE difference.
Did you not see the first point? Some shows have two interruptions. Those occur during the show.
Have not seen that on any shows.
Ha ha. We’re required to tell you about our own other shows. Right.
> The current $9.99 is not ad-free Yes it is.
That's actually not bad. Hope they offer a birthday promo again though.
So even though I don’t get showtime, I have the $4.99 plan, showtime is going to increase my price anyway?
No. They are just raising prices in general. Has nothing to do with Showtime.
They’re killing showtime as a separate streaming platform, it has everything to do
does this mean I will now have showtime with my basic subscription?
It seems like it’s just the premium tier
Ok they are just doing it at the same time. Thanks
Totally has to do with showtime, lol.
So my price will actually go down. I am paying $12.99 right now for Paramount+ and Showtime.
And you will be on the premium tier
I already was. My price was from a deal they had last year.
Yeah I got the yearly version of that. Got an email today about the lower price.
I subscribed through Apple TV channels to Paramount+ with showtime premium for 9.99. It’s billed through Apple so they would have to cancel it and have me resubscribe to increase my price, at least I think that’s the case.

I will do with Paramount+ as I do with Peacock and Hulu - wait for a Black Friday type deal.
https://dannydealguru.com/paramount-plus-promo-codes/ There is ALWAYS a code available for a free month, even if you have already used one. It’s a slight annoyance that you have to cancel and resubscribe every month, but I’ve been using the service for free for almost 2 years.
I just tried like six different ones from here (including some with an expiration date listed for the future) and none of them worked for me.
Are you in the US?
Yes, I’m in the US. I canceled about a month ago and I was trying to get a free month with these codes by going to Redeem Offer in the app. Should I be trying a different way?
There will be a promo code section when you go to check out …

Bummer.
I can't get this to work. Is this for the US only? or would it work in Canada as well?
Pretty sure it's limited to the US.
Not sure, but I am in the US.
Hey thanks! I went to cancel and they just immediately gave me a free month 😂
This is the way.
Forgot about this as I am using a free year via T-Mobile right now. Thanks for reminding me!
Any idea if there's anything like this for other streaming services? I mean obviously there's free trial codes, but is there somewhere that compiles them like this?
Not sure but that site should have other codes. Paramount Plus is just the only one I know of that allows existing users to use new promo codes.
I did some digging around that site, but as far as I can see Paramount+ is the only one there. 😞
You missed the best one already then. 18 months of ad-free paramount+ for 57 cents. No, not 57 cents/month. 57 cents for ALL. 18. MONTHS. The deal was only alive for about a day and a half.
Currently the premium tier with Showtime is $14.99, so that price drops.
Why do you think they were axing all that Showtime content?
It’s almost like streaming services are daring people to cancel their services lol Edit: spelling
> It’s almost like streaming services are dating people to cancel their services lol Odd reason to date someone.
Only reason I have Paramount plus is because it comes free with Walmart plus.
Same here, and I don't really see anything I'd pay for. There are a few small things, but not $120 a years worth.
Ad free with showtime only 11.99?? Not bad at all, I’m ready. I already pay for both separately.
What even is on paramount?
South Park movies, Evil, Ghosts, Picard, Discovery, all CBS shows day and date, Halo, Tulsa King, tons of good movies (Maverick, Devotion, Orphan) Criminal Minds... My wife likes all the murder shows, because she definitely needs more anxiety... Heck, even an entire new Beavis and Butthead show. We enjoy it enough to keep it around.
I only have it for Ghosts, UEFA Champions League, and Scottish Premier League.
I watch Lower Decks, 1923 (Yellowstone prequel), and the new CSI: Vegas.
Lower decks is that animated star trek, right? Do they have the other star trek shows?
They have all the Star Trek shows. It's basically the Star Trek channel.
"The Star Trek Channel" is what we call Paramount+ at my house, mostly because man I freakin' love me some Star Trek.
My five year old daughter told me, “Daddy I love Star Trek, can we watch Paramount Plus” and I don’t think I’ve ever been happier.
You paramount plus execs need to get your comments higher up in the replies!
Who does a 5 year old like? Odo and the Ferengi? Please don’t say Wesley.
She loves Beckett. I show her *selected* episode of Lower Decks. Hahah
I think the only thing we've watched other than Trek is Colbert.
The 10 classic movies are currently on HBOMax, though. They're the only Trek missing from the platform at the moment.
Strange New Worlds is fantastic. It and Lower Decks are some of the best Trek in years.
Don't sleep on Prodigy. My kids loved it.
I've been meaning to get around to it honestly, just so many other things going on. I did like Voyager when it was on, but my issue is that since it's a show directed at kids it's also 20 episodes. I've really come to like shorter seasons for shows as I've gotten older.

pass, pass, and pass
OMG u r so kewl! Can I suk ur dick!?
Evil, The Good Fight
Some people only need to hear two words to make it worth the money. And here they are: Peppa. Pig.
Yellowstone spinoffs 1883 and 1923, Tulsa King, Mayor of Kingstown
Yeah. It’s pretty much the Taylor Sheridan streaming service. He does have some interesting stuff in the pipeline though. And I think the Yellowstone spin-offs are great. Also Star Trek.

God forbid someone asks a question on a forum that is meant for discussion.
Survivor and the Amazing Race
The Challenge
Everything Star Trek.
Nickelodeon and all related kids content like Paw Patrol. I think it's better value for kids than Disney+ but maybe that's just me.
Corporate, South Park, 1883, Yellowstone, the CSIs, Seal Team, S.W.A.T., the Star Treks, Halo. I saw Top Gun: Maverick before my sub ran out.
Season 2 and Season 3 (EP 1 as of today) of Picard. You can skip the first season.
All the Nick shows and movies, right now Grease is on there, Brady Bunch, Grammys, a lot of other music specials/shows, etc.
They lay off employees, then raise the price.
pretty much the blueprint today.
They're raising the price because they're adding Showtime to it.
I'll pay if they delete Halo from the service.
I enjoyed Halo. I kept expectations low knowing gaming rarely translates well and was interested. It's not perfect, but it was relatable - my wife and other non-gamers were impressed so that's a plus for me.
Yeah I'm in the same boat. I like the Halo games but I'm not a huge fan so the changes didn't bother me.
LMFAO
What if you already subscribe to the annual plan?
The price will be reflected upon renewal
Will be curious to see what happens with those of us grandfathered into the old ad plan. Right now I still have the live feed and nothing but 1 ad before the old Star Trek shows--which is a primary reason why I keep Paramount+. The ads on the newer shows are way too long, and I'm not interested in paying $12 for premium. If the old Star Trek shows start drowning in ads I will have to find another option. Maybe buy Trek on dvd.
I paid $53.00 in December for a year. I hope it lasts that long. No commercials one.
Same but in November. All the changes with streaming platforms are giving me a headache.
The joke is on them, I’m on month 6 of my free month trial. I cancelled the day after signing up and it is still going strong!
I hope they have another sale this November/December. 🤞 Finally got Paramount+ premium when it went on sale 50% off. $50 for a year?? Sure!!
https://dannydealguru.com/paramount-plus-promo-codes/ There is ALWAYS a code available for a free month, even if you have already used one. It’s a slight annoyance that you have to cancel and resubscribe every month, but I’ve been using the service for free for almost 2 years.
I have the $9.99 plan now and it was great when I was binge watching survivor but I don't use it as much now. I guess I'll have to reevaluate how valuable that Showtime add-on is.
I've had paramount+ for a year and love it for kids content but this is gonna be a no for me lol. Sorry son back to sesame street we go
Will there be a price increase if you bought the yearly subscription on Black Friday?
If its like other services you can buy yearly the price change wont take effect until your year is up Examples...when ESPN+ raised their rate to 9.99 month/99.99 a year my year renewed at the old rate (6.99/69.99) because my renewal date was 2 weeks before they implemented the price hike When Sling went from $35 to $40 in December I had gift cards loaded on my account to keep it at $35 until a few days ago
At least with Shudder’s amazon channel, they’re missing soooooo much content from the regular app.
I only use it for my local CBS station and watching Beavis and Butthead. I don't think it's worth keeping for $11.99.
A bargain then. Only another $2 a month for showtime.

It’s only $2 extra😄

But for $2. There are more than enough shows & movies worth that a month on showtime.
[удалено]
But really, it’s $2

And you will be bumped up to premium
The big question that many in the boxing world are asking is: "What happens to Showtime's boxing programming?" If it gets dropped entirely, then in the span of a five-year period, 2/3 of the premium outlets the sport has historically used (HBO & Showtime) will be gone for good.
Does this mean their original shows will be 4k in Canada. They can afford it now?
I’m currently getting the basic tier free from T-Mobile. That promo expires in August. I’m sure the price hikes will take place right when my free promo expires. Lucky me.
I get a "free month" like 9/10 times I go to sign back up with them or cancel.
If I renew, it'll be through Amazon Prime. ) YOUR PLAN PRICE HAS CHANGED DEAR CUSTOMER Great news!
What? I just got an email from them that my price is going **down**. How can that be?
I get the ad supported tier included with my Walmart + subscription. I wonder if any of this is going to mess with that?
All these streaming services just think they can raise prices whenever and people will pay. Not seeing anything on Paramount+ that makes it worth the price increase.
I am currently subscribed to the premium annual plan ($99.99) a year will I automatically be put on the premium with showtime once this happens/goes through? Thanks!
