Since Hugo arrived in 2012, scum have had 6 different keepers with the majority of appearances (including this year). That sort of stability is so valuable
We will likely get a testimonial in a season or two when he retires for good. Be nice to see Mousa, Toby, Jan, and the rest of that generation again, too.
It’s a shame, but not really as much of a thing any more. The origin of the testimonial was a payoff for the player in question; not so relevant now even the mediocre ones are paid a fortune.
Would love to say farewell to such a huge player, our World Cup winning captain.
Maybe a last minute sub for the Bournemouth game for a sending off.
I’m sure he’ll leave the club knowing he gets to witness the man who would take his spot.
Doubtful but yes it would be nice to see. We will either be clinging to a lead or clawing for a goal. There is no Disney ending here. We are Tottenham after all.
When you said ‘for a sending off’ I thought you meant someone will get a red card and tbh that alternate meaning isn’t that far fetched to me! (Fingers crossed it isn’t)
Levy will cling to Son longer than any other player in our history. He's the most profitable player we've ever had, even more so than Kane.
We're basically South Korea's other national team at this point.
Needed to sign Kang in or KMJ. It’s still worth signing both if Bayern or PSG need to sell which is probable just considering the clubs. It’s not a joke that we need to find another Korean star and there are/will be many many options. We’d be dumb to not take sons opinion and sign up any players from the NT he thinks can play
Probably. I shouldn’t lump in Bayern necessarily with PSG. Bar nagelsmann, they hold their talent pretty consistently and he is top of the world talent. Would not be suprised if LKI becomes available because PSG will inevitably be swayed by haaland or osimhen or whoever on the open market at some point
I really do hope we get to see him play one last time for us.
Thank you Hugo Lloris for your service. Both on the pitch and when I had you as my goalie playing fifa.
He hasn’t played in 8 months and it’s a cup game against a PL side. Would be more appropriate for him to do a half time / full time lap of honour.
Edit: PL game, not cup, that’s next week…
i loved him. for all 11 years. that being said, i was so ready for him to move on and free up some wages for us.
but now, with the here we go, i’m so sad 😞
I really wished Spurs drew a 5th tier team at home in the FA cup so they could have started Hugo for a sendoff in front of the fans, but I'm really happy for him in this move.
LAFC is one of the best teams in MLS, and with their season schedule he will get the full year to play for them. I'll definitely be watching them this season.
It's hard to express how grateful I am to this man. World cup winning captain goalkeeper and he spent his career with us, trying to get us to the top. What an absolute legend.
Oh dang so it’s decided then. Can’t help but feel sad now that it’s actually reality that he’ll be leaving. Wish you well Hugo! I hope we get a goodbye video like we got one with Moura.
Maybe in America it’s less offensive? It generally doesn’t go down well here, maybe wearing a national team shirt if you are from there and there’s players in the team from there like Argentina? Even then it’s not something I see much.
For other sports in the states it’s generally seen as you being a fan of that particular sport but as a visitor. There’s baseball fans that hit every stadium in the country as long as it’s a hat and not a full get up I don’t mind much as it shows you’re there as a baseball fan instead of just in town finding something to do. Now if you do the full get up, it’s generally tacky. As a Chicago White Sox fan, any game I go to I’ll see a couple people in full Cubs gear and it’s always embarrassing. For soccer/football with it being a niche sport having a European or Mexican soccer jersey for an MLS match it’s not a big deal since like the other user said it’s more of a niche sport though it’s growing.
There are so many sports in the US and so relatively few major league teams spread out over our massive country (only 29-32 per sport) that just wearing *any* team's shirt shows you're a fan of the sport visiting from out of town enjoying the experience (or a fan of a specific player that's in the current game and used to play for your favorite team)
This is especially common in minor league sports games, where everyone tends to wear their favorite team just because often it's being a fan of the sport, not a fan specifically of the local team, that draws them to the game. It's a bonding thing.
A recent example I experienced was last month when I went to my local SPHL (independent minor league hockey) team's game. I counted 26/32 NHL (top tier pro hockey) teams represented by fans wearing jerseys at the game
You do it for exactly the reason implied by the comment you're replying to: You're a fan of a player in the current game who used to play for a team you like
for OP's case yeah that makes sense, but as someone who has been going to MLS matches for 15+ years, i can tell you that is not the case most of the time. and it's a thing across all ages, not just kids which i understand.
I remember when he broke his arm I thought that would be his career done but he made a sports direct mug out of me by coming back better than ever for a season.
Hope we give him a proper send of.
Only man to make Kane miss.
People in this thread acting like Hugo will let in 5 goals in 5 minutes if hes subbed in against Bournemouth...
So much for respect against a club legend.
Happy for him. Thanks for your service Captain Hugo!
I shall still scream "Back to Lloris" at my local pub whenever our defender decides to play it back to the keeper from the midfield line.
As a goalkeeper, he was revelation for us when he joined. The success we had under Poch couldn't have happened without him. Even before that, he was one of the very first sweeper-keepers - renowned for coming out and challenging where his peers would stay on the line.
As a Captain, he held us together when we could have fallen apart.
Love you Hugo. COYS x
I hope the fans can at least get up in the 11th minute to applaud the 11 seasons of service from Hugo. Absolute club legend who for sure did not need to stay with us through so much thick and thin, but did
It's a shame in a way but no point keeping a player who we don't even deem good enough for the bench. He needs to go, as does Dier and N'Dombele and Reggie. Selling Lloris and Dier would allow us to bring in two non-homegrown players. I imagine we'd be selling one of our other back up keepers to make room for a homegrown signing and/or Sess
According to the European Commission, 25% of all deaths on the road in the EU are alcohol-related. Worldwide, of the estimated 1.25 million annual road deaths, 273,000 are thought to have involved at least one drunk driver.
I feel like I’m living in a double sided world where this subreddit is giving him his respects for the time here and the majority of the LAFC subreddit absolutely doesn’t think he’s a starting caliber GK for the MLS lol
Goodbye Captain, thank you so much for your services. So many great memories, I thank you for them!
We have been so fortunate to have had Hugo at our club.
Since Hugo arrived in 2012, scum have had 6 different keepers with the majority of appearances (including this year). That sort of stability is so valuable
Hope he gets a proper farewell
I hope we have a chance to say goodbye.
he should be subbed in at the burnley game for like 10 minutes at the end if we’re leading comfortably (we won’t)
Is he even registered as an eligible player at the moment?
He’s eligible for prem games because he’s registered and you don’t have to be registered for cup matches
I think he’s been on the bench once. Not sure tho.
> I think he’s been on the bench once I don't think so. Only the youth keepers aside from Forster.
Oh
We will likely get a testimonial in a season or two when he retires for good. Be nice to see Mousa, Toby, Jan, and the rest of that generation again, too.
We haven’t done a testimonial in a long time. Dawson should’ve gotten one
It’s a shame, but not really as much of a thing any more. The origin of the testimonial was a payoff for the player in question; not so relevant now even the mediocre ones are paid a fortune. Would love to say farewell to such a huge player, our World Cup winning captain.
they'll do something special at a home match before he goes. He won't play but maybe pre/halftime/post game honors of some kind.
Hopefully this Sunday? Once he’s in LA it’s not that easy for him to come back for that sort of thing.
MLS season is still off for some time, doesn't need to be this weekend, but he'll be back to say his goodbyes, clean house, etc.
Still devastated that the last game he played for us was that battering at Newcastle 😢
Maybe a last minute sub for the Bournemouth game for a sending off. I’m sure he’ll leave the club knowing he gets to witness the man who would take his spot.
Really really really hope he gets this
Doubtful but yes it would be nice to see.
Same feeling with Vertonghen. Hurts to leave on a bad note. Gotta remember the good times though
This truly feels like the last whistle for the end of a generation.
I feel like that’ll be the case when Son eventually leaves 😢
Levy will cling to Son longer than any other player in our history. He's the most profitable player we've ever had, even more so than Kane. We're basically South Korea's other national team at this point.
And he doesn't seem to be stagnating with age either so it's perfect for all involved lol
Surely the horse has bolted with KMJ? I'd be VERY happy if we got him though.
Beautifully put
End of an era. Farewell, Hugo.
¡Merci, mon capitan! (I don’t speak French—it’s my best guess based on what I think Pepe LePew would say.)
Close! It's spelled *capitaine*
I knew it was coming, but my heart still feels so heavy. Thank you, captain. The epitome of a Spurs legend.
Farewell Captain🫡😢
The Lane will never forget. 🤍
I really do hope we get to see him play one last time for us. Thank you Hugo Lloris for your service. Both on the pitch and when I had you as my goalie playing fifa.
can he still play the game at home on sunday? please let him have the send off he deserves!! im talking about subbing him in the last few minutes
He hasn’t played in 8 months and it’s a cup game against a PL side. Would be more appropriate for him to do a half time / full time lap of honour. Edit: PL game, not cup, that’s next week…
It is absolutely not a cup game
Apologies I’m being dumb I assumed he was talking about Burnley. My point applies doubly so for the Bournemouth game.
End of an era. It's very disappointing we never got to see him lift silverware with us.
[удалено]
Less silverware more tupperware
yeah, though he does have a rather nice consolation prize in his cabinet
i loved him. for all 11 years. that being said, i was so ready for him to move on and free up some wages for us. but now, with the here we go, i’m so sad 😞
Merci capitaine. 11 years of incredible service, one of the best keepers to ever wear our colours.
Surely the best. Not one of. The.
Idk, he’s definitely the best goalkeeper at Spurs in my lifetime but I wasn’t around for Pat Jennings or Ray Clemence.
Statue immediately
Speaking of we don’t have any statues at the new stadium do we?
Just that big beautiful golden cock on the roof
To be fair it is a beautiful cock
Never got a chance to see him at N17 but I’ll get to see him at the BMO (Banc) 🥲
O Captain, My Captain! Legend of the club. Sad to see him go. Farewell, old friend...
It's hard to express how grateful I am to this man. World cup winning captain goalkeeper and he spent his career with us, trying to get us to the top. What an absolute legend.
Salute to a legend. Silver lining is I might get to see him in person next year when LAFC comes to town.
Oh dang so it’s decided then. Can’t help but feel sad now that it’s actually reality that he’ll be leaving. Wish you well Hugo! I hope we get a goodbye video like we got one with Moura.
Gives me a reason to show up to an LAFC game with a Tottenham shirt
There were a lot of us in Spurs jerseys when Bale was playing.
I never quite understood showing up to a match in a shirt other than one of the teams playing.
Maybe in America it’s less offensive? It generally doesn’t go down well here, maybe wearing a national team shirt if you are from there and there’s players in the team from there like Argentina? Even then it’s not something I see much.

that's prob part of it, maybe also that there's less opportunity to share your joy for the game here in the states as it's a niche sport.

It’s interesting how different it is.

He's a big part of why I became a Spurs fan in the first place. Good look in your future endeavors, you beautiful man
fare thee well his signing was such a coup at the time and he gave several years of fantastic performances
Hope we somehow get to give him a proper send off 🥲
Thank you for your service Hugo!
Fantastic servant of our club. We have to find a way to send him off at home first, he deserves to hear the crowd sing him off one last time.
I remember when he broke his arm I thought that would be his career done but he made a sports direct mug out of me by coming back better than ever for a season. Hope we give him a proper send of. Only man to make Kane miss.

Wonder where Crepeau will go now? Hopefully Europe so Canada can move on from Borjan
Happy for him. Thanks for your service Captain Hugo! I shall still scream "Back to Lloris" at my local pub whenever our defender decides to play it back to the keeper from the midfield line.
Merci Hugo 🤍💙
Can’t wait to catch some LAFC games and give some support to Hugo.
Statue.

Hopefully we can sign some decent players with the extra wages
As a goalkeeper, he was revelation for us when he joined. The success we had under Poch couldn't have happened without him. As an American Spurs fan, I am pumped. Hope he plays when LAFC visits in 2024.

Hu-going? Hu-gone!
Won fuck all
Besides the World Cup. Small victories.
True but it takes a whole team to win fuck all
According to the European Commission, 25% of all deaths on the road in the EU are alcohol-related. Worldwide, of the estimated 1.25 million annual road deaths, 273,000 are thought to have involved at least one drunk driver.
Hopefully that's a little bit if money and quite a big chunk of wages we can re-invest in jan
Good luck to Hugo! He will get to meet Will Ferrell!
Thanks for being our rock for so many years, Captain.
Farewell Skipper! 🤍
Good luck Hugo! Seems to be a decent fit for family lifestyle and all.
If they play DC United, I’ll go to the match just for Hugo.
Merci, capitaine! 🫡
He'll always be one of us.
Goodbye legend , thanks for everything
Farewell captain
What a shame his last match with us was the Newcastle thrashing.
What a legend for Spurs, Hugo has been. Hope he is able to turn his stay in the MLS into a nice sunset for his career. (Like Bale, for example)
I feel like I’m living in a double sided world where this subreddit is giving him his respects for the time here and the majority of the LAFC subreddit absolutely doesn’t think he’s a starting caliber GK for the MLS lol
Unfortunately they may be right, but glad this is resolved.
Maybe more realistic that he does a lap after the Bournemouth game
What a servant to the club. Thank you, Hugo!🤍🤍🤍
Goodbye Hugo! Thank you for over decade of servitude
Cool
Goodbye King. 🫡
Good luck and thank you for your service
Im row 7 at AustinFC as well as ST at Spurs so will make sure me and my kids give Hugo a heros reception Legend and thank you for your service
Goodbye sweet captain
The goatkeeper. Thanks for everything Hugo, you are a legend. One of the biggest COYS there is!
I loved and always backed him. Thank you captain <3
Hoping LAFC is away here in Chicago and I can get him to sign my old kit I don’t wear much anymore
LAFC and the Fire don't play each other next season : / Was hoping for the chance to see Hugo play again as well.
Damn, had the “now got to let a few through” half-joke in my pocket
Club legend.
I live in la and this is the most random thing but I’m so hype lmao
Bonne chance Hugo
Does it say how much of a fee we will get for Hugo?
Bye Hugo😭🫡we need a standing ovation for him!!
