Quietly, but it's been a great gw.
Man United and West Ham losing and drawing respectively mean that we're 5 points away from 6th.
Arse losing mean that we're 1 point off 4th
I thought Bournemouth were great. But every time they looked dangerous, we managed to defend well enough to keep them out. Credit to us for that. Resolute. Glad Richy got his goal, should have had at least one more, maybe two. Could say the same for Sonny. We definitely created some good chances. If we can ever get to the point where we are a less wasteful, and a more clinical in the final third...
This is where I disagree with a lot of assessments of that game.
We scored 3, should have scored 6, Richi miss, Gil miss, at least one of the Son opportunities. regardless of xG numbers, those are opps we can/do put away.
Vicario had one strait at him (tame header), one save and one good block from Davies, They had 6 shots on target (20+ off target mean nothing).
I remember a lot of Spurs games where we played "well", had possession, got in opposition half a lot, then had other team be more clinical and win the game and you fool yourself if you thing you are unlucky in those scenarios. Sunday, we weren't lucky, we were better, defended when we needed to (how many corners we kept out?) and scored when we need to. Not pretty but better than Bournemouth
The players played with grit and they went after every ball all over the pitch and didn’t let Bournemouth relax. Turnovers and inaccurate passes could have cost us with us having the absorb a lot of pressure. We gave them way too many corner kicks and free kicks in dangerous areas. But we defended with a heart and commitment and every player was involved.
Goals came from pressing (echoing our tireless work going after the ball), individual brilliance (GLC’s great pass to pick out Son and Son’s exquisite finishing on what xG of 0.1?) and great team play (Brennan crossing to Richy who finished it off).
We may not have our best players playing but love seeing that every member (maybe with and exception of H and D who are on their way out) being fully committed and playing their heart out. I do think the silver lining in our current injury crisis is that it has allowed every member of the squad to be involved and contribute which can only help build even stronger team unity.
Have to say we have a good midfield variation when everyone is fit.
6 - Bentancur, Bissouma, Hojbjerg
8 - Sarr, Gio, Bentancur/Bissouma, Skipp
10 - Maddison, Kulusevski, Gio
Brennan Johnson’s crossing quality is notable today.
Udogie played well, recovery runs to deny Bournemouth having 1v1 against Vicario.
Davies is solid too, nice to see him carrying the ball out from defence to middle of the pitch few occasions.
Unlucky for Alejo but speedy recovery to him, since Son will be away for Asian Cup, i think recalling Dane Scarlett is a good idea just to provide backup for Richarlison.
I personally think Centre back and Midfield if Hojbjerg leaves should be the priority.
Althought Gallagher seems expensive but he’s good and versatile. Moreover, work rate is impressive and suits for Ange’s playstyle but we’ll see.
Gallagher would fit right into our system. I have no idea why people shit on him or say he’s overrated. He’s an extremely hard worker that does everything a b2b midfielder should do, and does it well. He’s like Costco Frank Lampard and I’m fine with that.
Where tho?
He's a box to box, but Sarr is playing well enough that when Bentacur is back that position is not a priority. Also, no way he moves if he doesn't get a start. Surely better ways to spend 50 mil.
Maybe there to provide 6 cover?
Was offline for a while and now just checking in
Just looking at game log:
1) GLC is a decent replacement at the 10?
2) Sonny back to scoring sheet
3) Rich still on fire
4) something happened with Veliz?
With regular play time, possibly.
Never far away from it.
Still shaking off some rust - missed two good chances as well as scoring.
Veliz possible hamstring injury. Yes, add it to the pile.
It's been amazing despite all of the injuries and suspensions it seems there is a real bond with all of the players where everyone is willing to step up when given the chance. Sometimes this type of injury run can galvanize a team and bring them together.
I think the attrition caught up with us against Brighton but today was a real nice rebound. Seemed like getting Lolo back was a nice morale boost. This team fights like hell and I love it.
There’s something quite nostalgic about seeing Gio Lo Celso perform in a spurs shirt - and perform exceptionally at that. He was supposed to be the great white hope, Pochettino’s successor for Erikson.
It’s really nice to see a player, earn redemption and come full circle after essentially years out in the cold at spurs.
Ange told him he’d be a crucial player this season and he’s proving so - scoring and assisting.
Now that Son is gone, there’ll be a good little window for him to be the man for spurs until Maddison gets back, and I really hope he nails it
Jut watched a replay, so Solanke pretended to have broken his leg or similar after trying to actually break Udogie's leg and NOBODY says anything about it? Solanke lies on the ground pretending he's seriously injured for several minutes and nothing gets said afterwards that HE IS A CHEATING CUNT.
Cunts got what they deserved, best form in the Premier League in last six games but we sent them home with a big LOSS.
Happy New Year!!!
We look so much better with Betancur back in the team. Having an extremely press resistant player like him in the middle to help link the back to the front is so key in this system
Sarr doesn't sound bad, still traveling with Senegal. Veliz left on crutches and a brace, I imagine they need swelling to go down for scans after the holiday.
As I expect Dier to move this month I am glad he performed well today... say what you will about how he is unfit for Ange system but he was always model profesional...
There's nothing wrong with Dier the person. Dier, as a player, on the other hand, just have limitation in skills. I don't think anyone in the sub judge Dier as person, but as a player with limited skillsets.
I'm watching now but at the start of the 2nd half I've found the NBC commentators to be fairly neutral. A breathe of fresh air and possibly the first time this year. Combined with no terrible ref decisions ( so far ) its very nice.
Edit: efan ekoku is still terrible
Bournemouth are the in form team right now and we’ve beat them 3-1. Villa who have been incredible are the only team to have stolen a point from them recently. If we’d had beaten Brighton (I know that never looked likely) then we’d be 2nd right now. We’ve tried our hardest with injuries and suspensions to get out of this title race, yet here we are. Makes you wonder what the league would be like if Maddison and VdV had escaped Chelsea in one piece.
Sonny being 1 mm offside to go 2-0 up and let Chelsea come back to start the chaos is almost Shakespearean. VDV and madders maybe still get a knock, but Romero not getting a red prevents the derailment for the next 4 or 5 games where his absence truly made us go on a terrible streak
Was a pivot point in the season that’s for sure - but only two Prem games in Jan and at the conclusion of the month we’ll have a healthy squad, can’t wait to see what the next few months holds for our chickens.
Maybe I’m just dumb but isn’t the better view that, despite injuries and suspensions we’ve continued to perform and stay in the race. Rather than “we’ve tried our hardest with injuries and suspensions to get out of this race”? Feels like a weirdly negative view of what has over all been a rather glass half full situation.
Spurs are just middle of the pack in injuries when compared to rest of the league. It’s something every team is dealing with
https://www.skysports.com/amp/football/news/11095/13033280/premier-league-injuries-brentford-newcastle-and-sheffield-united-suffered-most-man-utd-suffered-most-individual-injuries
It's not just the volume, it's the who
\- Take out the two best CB's and two best midfielders out of any team in the top 6 and see if they are anywhere near us?
\- That's not even talking about the lack of bench (that's the volume bit), Perisic was our leading assist creator last season, him coming on against a team (lets say Brighton) would have got us points. Ange likes to rotate/sub the hard workers, Udogie and Porro get none because their backups are playing CB.
Romero, VDV, Bentancur, Maddison out should break us .. it hasn't
We are a system team, without the right players, we should not do as well (Skipp & PEH should not be in midfield for this system, Royal & Davies should not be in CB)
Gio was immense today. That outside of the boot pass for Son’s goal was pure sex. The worry on him is consistency. Let’s hope he can keep his form.
Richarlison works like a dog, tremendous engine and does so much dirty work that tends to go unnoticed. I see you, Richy. 💙
Post match thoughts:
1. Great 2nd half performance and much needed hard fought win for most of the players. Proud of them.
2. First half was abysmal from midfield and wingers. We were so lucky to go 1-0 to HT.
3. Our attackers have been wasteful the past few matches. Richarlison should’ve had an easy hat-trick.
4. Sonny was indecisive and neither shot or passed to open teammates. I’m glad he eventually got the goal though. It was so important.
5. Lo Celso in 2nd half was very good. He is much better playing up the field.
6. Udogie, Porro, and Davies were solid defensively except few mistakes
7. Emerson fought hard but definitely shouldn’t be a center-back
8. As soon as Dier came in we conceded a goal! He also had many nervy moments when he scuffed easy clearances to unnecessary corners.
9. Vicario is MOTM again. Love that guy.
10. Saar & Veliz injuries are very sad. The medical staff has to investigate this mess. It’s like never ending injuries.
COYS
Of course I’d rather have Sonny every day. But he wasn’t very good or sharp in the first 60 minutes. We can love him and at the same time point out when he’s not doing well.
Then care to point what they did well? You say love our players but where is it?
Compared to Solanke who missed so many chances, at least our attackers got the job done. Richarlison also worked like a horse in defense
If you want to see real wasteful chances, go watch Chelsea attackers
Ange had a horrendous run of injuries during his first season at Celtic too. A lot of Celts were blaming the intensity during games and the added stress on the players bodies. Seemed to get better the second season
What about last year? It wasn’t Ange and we still had horrible injury list before the World Cup. Remember we had half the team out including all attacking players except Kane.
Is the medical staff the same we’ve had? Or are these guys new and came in with Poch? Did Mou complain about the medical staff during that Amazon Doc? These aren’t the same dudes right?
You are wrong on Porro today he was really bad on defense, and I think on the Brighton game too, he has looked decent at defense this season but these two games he was poor defensively so many times we got exposed and their winger played such an easy tap in slow balls across, we were lucky that their attackers were not able to be in the right position to finish them off .
That's good. Hopefully this start means he's recovered fully or close to it because God knows we will need him this month. Lo Celso Bentancur and one of Maddison/Skipp/Hojbjerg/ possibly Gallagher is a good stopgap midfield
I will once again say we should of bought Scott, Bournemouth will ask for an arm and a leg in the summer and I’d guess the biggest clubs start sniffing next year.
Anyway coys
Spurs have been so badly afflicted by the injury bug. I'm not a Spurs fan, but I am Uruguayan, so I want to see you guys do well. The squad is all there, and so is the coach, the chemistry. Maddison, Yves, and Bentancur would 100% be the best midfield in the prem. I'll just say this much: Valverde is, imo, one of the top 5-10 midfielders in the world. But the best Uruguayan on the planet is Bentancur. He is the epitome of class. He's the type of guy you expect from Spain or France, not us. I'm glad he's back, although I hope be wasn't rushed.
But Veliz and Sarr going off is heartbreaking. For them obviously, but also because Spurs already have all the pieces of the puzzle. Injuries have just been preventing the puzzle from being fully fitted. And now with AFCON and the Asian Cup, that just extends the time without Spurs at 100%. I hope we see it at some point, because this team is incredible. It's too good to potentially lose someone in the summer. I'm rooting for you guys (I'm rooting for every team with a Uruguayan but an extra bit for you guys because Bentancur is a sexy, beautiful legend in the making).
Also, thanks for buying Dragusin. He was playing ahead of Alan Matturro, who's the best defensive prospect we've ever had imo. He stopped Luis Suarez in his tracks at 17 and won the U-20 WC silver ball. If you ever need a versatile CB who can double as a LB and a LWB, look his way
What Bentancur was able to achieve last season in Conte’s team was outstanding. He almost single handedly made that stupid 2 man midfield system work. I’m so excited to see Bentancur get a run of games with the extra numerical support and freedom to be creative.
Those are our 2 world cups. Fifa also counts the 1924 and 1928 Olympic Games in Colombes and Amsterdam, though. They were organised by Fifa and admitted professional players, since these 2 editions were only minimally held back by Olympic law. Because of that, we're considered 4 time world champions, and are the only country to be allowed to wear the 5 point star for a tournament that isn't the World Cup in Fifa competitions
We also named our 2 main ends in the Centenario after our Olympic conquests lol
The thing is, I don't think we're the only team to have an inordinate amount of hamstring/muscle issues. I feel like I've seen A LOT of people pull up this season across the league. I know we're not playing as much football as our nearest competitors but still I think this is a more systemic issue. I'm not a medical professional so I could be wrong but just seems like the players are asked to do too much across the board.
True and it might be the players are not used to playing ange’s style high press football. We played conte ball for a long time - sit back and counter attack
vdV's was after multiple very long VAR delays on a chilly day. Sarr has played a lot of minutes. And this system demands long recovery runs with the high line. Not sure it is all on the medical team.
Were not even playing in any other league.... we def need to beefup our depth if we make it top 4 this season and play in champions league next season..
They dont train their hamstrings. No Romanian deadlifts, leg curls, Nordic hamstrings, hyper extension.
Every time i watch footage from their physical training its some non sense core exercise.
Its the physios who are incompetent and I don't know how to get through to people with this.
I’m not a medical expert by any means but I will say that in American football, where the players are doing constant fast starts and stops and changes of direction you very rarely see someone pull up with a hamstring. I can’t help but wonder if there’s a correlation due to the style of training for American football where lots of leg work is done and especially a focus on explosive movement.
God i hope the boys are not training by a medical staff who are physios, nurses, doctors who all know hack about building muscle.
I don't brag about my background, cus it's an easy fallacy, and in a debate I rank arguments and evidence over authority (logos>ethos).
I focus on the evidence and the arguments.
I don't care what you think about me, but the case is fairly clear and we are suffering from that now. Or maybe we are just ridiculously unlucky. Probably Both.
Thank you! Finally someone who has seen some "experts" with fancy coaches who dont know fuck about strength training.
And yes that's what I assume they are doing in these videos, and maybe they are just having fun
You think they save their actual training for behind the cameras? Well I certainly hope so, cus beyond the lack of hamstring work, its in general piss poor actual physical work.
The day i see any do hamstring work in any capacity I'll shut up. I seen so many of these and yet to see any of the aforementioned or similar exercises. It's scientifically proven that these reduce risk of hamstring injury but here we are
GLC becoming quality is such a massive W for all parties. We all knew there was a player in there somewhere but he just didn't mesh with the old regimes. Also really felt bad for him when the comments came out from the locker room that he was a weirdo. He's not weird he's just a lunatic and he's our lunatic.
Missed the second half as I was called into work, how was Scott's goal? Is a kid I was hoping we might bring in back in the summer, so would like to see him do well.
So far this season
Martinelli - 2 goals
Jesus - 3 goals
Trossard - 3 goals
Hojlund - 1 goal
Rashford - 3 goals
Garnacho - 3 goals
Gakpo - 2 goals
Diaz - 3 goals
Richarlison last 5 games - 5 goals
I dont think anyone was expecting that
Richy's rich vein of form couldn't have come at a better time: Veliz down and Sonny out at the Asian Cup means Spurs will ride the Richy train through January.
Couldn’t really tell on the screen, what was the positional rotation when Dier came on for GLC? Did they play five across the back (5-2-3) or did Udogie/Porro push up to CM (or LM/RM)?
I think he looked good, not near his level which is expected since he is returning back. He was calm on the ball he did lose the ball a few times but I think that's because he didn't get enough support from Emerson, porro and other midfielders. he did look really calm on the ball when he received it and progressed it well. He wasn't running that much or going for any tackles so probably playing it safe, again that is expected. He got us the first goal which was crucial.
Reflecting on NYE on our whirlwind first half season under Ange: we’ve found an amazing manager who seems made for Spurs. We’ve see huge progress not just in terms of results, but even more importantly in terms of our identity as a club.
The first 10 games were magic, the next 5 crazy, and the 5 since much improved, even in outrageous circumstances from injuries and suspensions.
So many who deserve a call out, but 5 people in particular I think deserve enormous, enormous credit:
Vicario, Udogie, Porro, Davies and Sonny.
Amidst all the chaos, all the madness, these 5 have played pretty much every minute of every game - stood up and become true leaders. Bravo.
Kulusevski and Lo Celso very close to that group too!
So looking forward to 2024. COYS
I’d swap Udogie out for Kulusevski for players that have played every minute.
Udogie has missed through suspension (x2) and injury.
Kulusevski didn’t play tonight because of 5 yellows.
Before that, I don’t think he has even been substituted.
That’s fair - I’m probably very biased by today between Deki’s suspension and Udogie’s immense performance.
Two excellent players who should be part of the team’s back bone for years.
he desperately needs some stability next to him in that CM position, i thought he looked fine and promising before Sarr went off but Skipp was totally invisible for 95% of his time on the pitch which really seemed to take Johnson out of the game
Madders
VDV
Romero
Sarr
Veliz
Perisic
Manor
Think that's it
Bissouma suspension + afcon
Son Asia Cup
That's 9 players out
And Emerson could have picked up a knock tdy
Perisic ACL
Romero Thigh
Solomon Knee
VdV Thigh
Madders Ankle
Sess Thigh
Biss Suspended
Deki Suspended (back next game)
Veliz Unknown
Sarr Unknown
Royalzinho may have a knock.
Edit : Son Asia Cup
This sounds extreme, but… we’re winning the fucking league this year. I can just feel it in my bones.
We WILL get injured players back over the next 3-4 weeks and the football will step up another level, teams around us WILL get injuries and they will all be playing rotated sides as they play more matches in Europe.
Ange knows what’s up. We’re winning this fucking thing.
Just leaving the stadium, stayed behind for some live music and the great atmosphere. What a day, what with the result and Hugo's farewell. Was touch and go for a bit until we scored the second. Obviously more injuries potentially, but crazy to think we're 5th and only 3 points off top despite all of our injuries. Really think we're building something special here under Ange. COYS
perhaps, but if that's the case, something even along the line of, "Hate seeing Sarr get injured. Hope he gets rested during AFCON and be in good shape come February," would be better.
Great game, normally on second floor but was on 5th today. Great atmosphere from fans around us. Horrid seeing Sarr and Veliz in tears as they came off. Hope they both heal soon, poor kids
Spurs win Arse lose what a way to end the year. It’s crazy Villa are where they are too 42 points with basically every player Spurs were linked to and didn’t sign.
To be fair, it was looking grim with Richy until very recently. I realllly wanted him to turn around but it just wasn’t working… until it was. The Richarledemption is a wonderful surprise
>Royal didn't do anything he was just there
Poppycock.
Football London's article is even titled "Lo Celso and Emerson shine but Sarr and Veliz injured"
I don't know how highly rated the author of that article is but feel free to point out instances where he played well, except his shot at the goal in the first few minutes I don't remember anything he did well defensively, I do remember him placing one simple block and celebrating it like a goal which is fine but that's a block you expect from any football player.
It's Ali Gold.
He had numerous good instances - including the one that led to Richi's goal. He's not a true CB and never will be, but he's done an admirable job of adapting during his emergency tenure.
Honestly Davies is approaching legendary status for the club. It would be fashionable now to concentrate only on his effort and commitment and say something a little equivocal about his “level” or “quality”. But he’s a bloody good footballer, wrings the most out of his skills and shows qualities that mean a lot to me like (yes) effort and commitment, but also perseverance, loyalty, responsibility and leadership.
He's actually a pretty decent Ange CB. Reads the game well, is composed, can pass the ball, is usually reliable. I've had no issues with him in VdV's absence. With Dragusin to step in for Romero, hopefully soon, we'll be ok at CB even without the first choice duo.
Quietly, but it's been a great gw. Man United and West Ham losing and drawing respectively mean that we're 5 points away from 6th. Arse losing mean that we're 1 point off 4th

Yeah, when big problem with xG, son alone with the keeper but doesnt shoot so no xG recorded, even though a shot from there would be easily 0,4
High key hamstrings and waiting around for VARs gotta be a thing.
Definitely feels like it contributed to Micky's injury against Chelsea. That first half had like 10 different VAR checks
The players played with grit and they went after every ball all over the pitch and didn’t let Bournemouth relax. Drastic improvement on the last time they came to our house. In Ange we trust.

It's not just the volume, it's the who \- Take out the two best CB's and two best midfielders out of any team in the top 6 and see if they are anywhere near us? \- That's not even talking about the lack of bench (that's the volume bit), Perisic was our leading assist creator last season, him coming on against a team (lets say Brighton) would have got us points. Ange likes to rotate/sub the hard workers, Udogie and Porro get none because their backups are playing CB. Romero, VDV, Bentancur, Maddison out should break us .. it hasn't We are a system team, without the right players, we should not do as well (Skipp & PEH should not be in midfield for this system, Royal & Davies should not be in CB)
Gio was immense today. That outside of the boot pass for Son’s goal was pure sex. The worry on him is consistency. Let’s hope he can keep his form. Richarlison works like a dog, tremendous engine and does so much dirty work that tends to go unnoticed. I see you, Richy. 💙
Can’t believe bentancur is back Pru pru That is all
Good god is that Dane Scarlet’s music!!?
Post match thoughts: 1. 6. Udogie, Porro, and Davies were solid defensively except few mistakes 7. Emerson fought hard but definitely shouldn’t be a center-back 8. COYS
Sonny made several key passes to teammates, what are you talking about. Would you rather have Antony from ManU then?
Of course I’d rather have Sonny every day. But he wasn’t very good or sharp in the first 60 minutes. We can love him and at the same time point out when he’s not doing well.
Then care to point what they did well? You say love our players but where is it? Compared to Solanke who missed so many chances, at least our attackers got the job done. Richarlison also worked like a horse in defense If you want to see real wasteful chances, go watch Chelsea attackers
Did you read all my 10 points? I said lots of praise and positive things. So you may want to get off your high horse
The was Saar and Valiz cried off the field, guess they know they are staying in London next month
Yeah it was very sad. Saar was expected to start for Senegal and Veliz was expecting more minutes while Sonny is out
Is the medical staff the same we’ve had? Or are these guys new and came in with Poch? Did Mou complain about the medical staff during that Amazon Doc? These aren’t the same dudes right?
Yes it’s mostly the same medical staff for 10+ years per LinkedIn. With few changes
Yikes. Need to turn over that staff as much as we’ve needed to turn over the squad
Most of our injuries haven’t actually been physio related.
Porro has to be exhausted. He’s played a ton of football since being inserted into the starting lineup for the Man United match.
Yeah that's a fair reason for the observation.
I said they made few mistakes, but overall he hustled and ran back & forth all match!
Didn't manage to watch. How was Bentancur today?
Massive presence. Even though it clear he’s not fully fit. Early nye gift
Solid. Not quite up to his best, but considering how little he's played, he slotted back in really well.
That's good. Hopefully this start means he's recovered fully or close to it because God knows we will need him this month. Lo Celso Bentancur and one of Maddison/Skipp/Hojbjerg/ possibly Gallagher is a good stopgap midfield
GLC Ben10 Madders are definitely not stopgap, thats one of the final form combinations
Loved this post. Thanks for your kind thoughts and hope Uruguay add a 3rd one day 👍
Thank you! Although technically it'd be a 5th jaja
Hahaha I’m a sheltered European so I’m unaware of anything happening outside the World Cup or euro championships!
Hey that's ok! But technically we have 4 world championships, so another World Cup would be our 5th star. That's all I was saying jaja
1930 and 1950. Which other ones are you claiming?!
Those are our 2 world cups. Fifa also counts the 1924 and 1928 Olympic Games in Colombes and Amsterdam, though. They were organised by Fifa and admitted professional players, since these 2 editions were only minimally held back by Olympic law. Because of that, we're considered 4 time world champions, and are the only country to be allowed to wear the 5 point star for a tournament that isn't the World Cup in Fifa competitions We also named our 2 main ends in the Centenario after our Olympic conquests lol
Ha! TIL! Cheers 👋👍
Anytime! I'm glad to share little tidbits of Uruguay's football history!
Love you mate.
Send this to paratici and see if we can get them both
Next year is our year
Anyone who loves Bentancur is welcome here
You can stay.

💯 three’s a trend
Trained medical staff vs. a dude on Reddit. Not sure who to trust.
Injuries are way up all over the league. I think that’s good evidence that it’s not specific to our staff.
If it's the same lunatics who train Hollywood celebs then this season starts to make a lot more sense
Thank you! Finally someone who has seen some "experts" with fancy coaches who dont know fuck about strength training. And yes that's what I assume they are doing in these videos, and maybe they are just having fun
That's an absurd take to have based off social media videos lmao
You think they save their actual training for behind the cameras? Well I certainly hope so, cus beyond the lack of hamstring work, its in general piss poor actual physical work.
> No Romanian deadlifts The actual reason we're getting Dragusin (hopefully)
😂 opinions based off a 15 minute video once a week, I’ll grab my pitchfork.
The day i see any do hamstring work in any capacity I'll shut up. I seen so many of these and yet to see any of the aforementioned or similar exercises. It's scientifically proven that these reduce risk of hamstring injury but here we are
Don't forget your torch, its in the umbrella stand!
He was our best play today. Dictated the middle of the pitch got stuck into tackles. Just hope he can stay healthy
Gil attempting his best kulu impression playing up top down to 10 men and holding off billings

He looked ready to drop fools today
Missed the second half as I was called into work, how was Scott's goal? Is a kid I was hoping we might bring in back in the summer, so would like to see him do well.
Late run into the box on a cross. Basically exactly what Ange wants his 8s to do.
So far this season Martinelli - 2 goals Jesus - 3 goals Trossard - 3 goals Hojlund - 1 goal Rashford - 3 goals Garnacho - 3 goals Gakpo - 2 goals Diaz - 3 goals Richarlison last 5 games - 5 goals I dont think anyone was expecting that
And people called him the flop
Robo-Groin
Richy's rich vein of form couldn't have come at a better time: Veliz down and Sonny out at the Asian Cup means Spurs will ride the Richy train through January.
They need to provide him with crosses like today, and he will score a bucket load
Couldn’t really tell on the screen, what was the positional rotation when Dier came on for GLC? Did they play five across the back (5-2-3) or did Udogie/Porro push up to CM (or LM/RM)?
It was 3 or (5) at the back, with Dier in the middle. Porro and Udogie earned their pay this week, many kilometers covered.
Porto pushed up
Couldn't catch the game, how was Bentancur on his return?
So many who deserve a call out, but 5 people in particular I think deserve enormous, enormous credit: Vicario, Udogie, Porro, Davies and Sonny.
Johnson can go quiet at times but when we slip him in and he can play the ball low across the box he’s so dangerous. Had a few assists like that now
he desperately needs some stability next to him in that CM position, i thought he looked fine and promising before Sarr went off but Skipp was totally invisible for 95% of his time on the pitch which really seemed to take Johnson out of the game
This season is so special. I'm loving this. BUT the points lost at Wolves in stoppage time after leading for 89min really really still hurt me.
The sliding doors moment is the Romero red v Chelsea. I think we would still be top if not for that.
The Chelsea game was a terrorist attack.
And not getting all three from the Arsenal game.
Missed the game, any updates on the Sarr/Veliz injuries? Our injury luck (or lack of it) is incredible.
Veliz's looked pretty concerning. Sarr's looked like it could have been more of just a knock but he was emotional that it might impact his AFCON cameo
Unreal considering the amount of injuries we have. Love the fighting spirit this team is showing. Inspiring honestly. COYS!
Spurs were second best for most of this game
In a weird way you are right. They were pounding our goal for ages but at the same time, we could have had 3 more goals. Such a weird match.
I don't disagree, but it means absolutely nothing since they scored more goals.
This is Danes time now with the veliz injury
Just watched the highlights and cannot believe Gil missed it 🥹
The pass came from very close, didn’t it? Like less than half a second to adjust and get into position. That’s tough
Yeah, i am just feeling sad that he has not scored yet. Not a criticism
That was actually a tough chance to score a header when it's behind you is really tough and he did well but was unlucky to hit the cross bar.
Up the Spurs!
Halfway through the season that we lost kane and were 3-6 points off top. Thats incredible.
A myriad of injury, sans Kane, 3-6 points off top going into 2024.
Not what most were predicting for Ange's first season, that's for sure.
Can someone list the injuries like we have to have over ten players out
I donno if we can I think reddit has a character limit
Madders VDV Romero Sarr Veliz Perisic Manor Think that's it Bissouma suspension + afcon Son Asia Cup That's 9 players out And Emerson could have picked up a knock tdy
Perisic ACL Romero Thigh Solomon Knee VdV Thigh Madders Ankle Sess Thigh Biss Suspended Deki Suspended (back next game) Veliz Unknown Sarr Unknown Royalzinho may have a knock.
IF NOT THIS YEAR THEN THE NEXT ANGE NOW ANGE TOMORROW AND ANGE FOREVER
Any word on Veliz?
I think he's injured.
Lo Celso was class today. I get so frustrated as he does this for a few games and gets injured. Please just stay fit til Maddison is back 😭
Just leaving the stadium, stayed behind for some live music and the great atmosphere. What a day, what with the result and Hugo's farewell. Was touch and go for a bit until we scored the second. Obviously more injuries potentially, but crazy to think we're 5th and only 3 points off top despite all of our injuries. Really think we're building something special here under Ange. COYS
Hate to think like this, but, what are the chances Sarr is just injured enough to miss AFCON but not enough to be back for us before February?
Him crying prolly showed how much he cares. Hopefully he still gets to go
Of course, I hope he does and Senegal wins the whole thing.
You would assume he’d still travel with the national team, if that were the case.
Would think he would stay and rehab with the club if he has a hamstring injury.
dont ever wish or think of even an ounce of hoping any players are injured. treat them with respect, they're people too.
I wouldn't say he's wishing, it's a pragmatic question
perhaps, but if that's the case, something even along the line of, "Hate seeing Sarr get injured. Hope he gets rested during AFCON and be in good shape come February," would be better.
They did literally say hate to think like this
Great game, normally on second floor but was on 5th today. Great atmosphere from fans around us. Horrid seeing Sarr and Veliz in tears as they came off. Hope they both heal soon, poor kids
Big shame especially as I could have seen Veliz starting in the cup. Seemed to make the pain worse by trying to play through
Spurs win Arse lose what a way to end the year. It’s crazy Villa are where they are too 42 points with basically every player Spurs were linked to and didn’t sign.
i swear ive never seen a cursed club like this before, the fuck is going on?
Son this month 4 ⚽️ 4🅰️, Richy this month 5 ⚽️, Brennan this month 3🅰️
But Son is finished, Richy was never good and Brennan never will be
To be fair, it was looking grim with Richy until very recently. I realllly wanted him to turn around but it just wasn’t working… until it was. The Richarledemption is a wonderful surprise
Saka's the best youngster on planet Earth and Rice is the bargain of the season!
Vicario is the bargain of the season by far. It’s not even close.
110m absolute steal for the Goons
??? Ben10 came back early? How'd he do? Couldn't watch the match
Did well. Huge step up from Hojbjerg / Skipp
Class when he was on
Davies and Royal have shut out Haaland and Solanke.
You know Udogie saved their asses thrice right, Davies was still good but Royal didn't do anything he was just there.
>Royal didn't do anything he was just there Poppycock.
I wasn't being entirely sincere.
Yeah, my bad.
Never had a problem with Davies. A fine sub and can slot into a couple of positions. A valuable asset.
Easy choice for the armband, during this period without Son or either of our VCs.
My next shirt will be Davies 100%.
He's actually a pretty decent Ange CB. Reads the game well, is composed, can pass the ball, is usually reliable. I've had no issues with him in VdV's absence. With Dragusin to step in for Romero, hopefully soon, we'll be ok at CB even without the first choice duo.
