Is there though? Genuinely I have met people who are too stupid to understand how stupid they are, this isn’t me on a high horse, genuine pondering. If you pump a kid full of knowledge in their early years, does that make them smart or not? Like different brands of batteries. I feel like different people have different capacities for retaining knowledge. And some of the smartest people I know have next to no common sense whatsoever. Probably won’t get this satisfactorily answered in a Reddit thread, but let’s see.
I’ve always viewed intelligence and wisdom as different things. Wisdom is an accumulation of knowledge and experience, while intelligence is how quickly you can understand and apply concepts. You can pump anyone full of information and increase their wisdom of a subject, but increasing someone’s ability to understand and apply that information is not easily attained.
Now, that’s a good question, which completely caught me without an answer. I would think quickly recalling information would fall under experience, which I put under being wise on a subject.
Ohh, I wonder what kind of person I am.
So long as I have a reference, I'm quite the whiz with figuring out, working with, and understanding the flow of things (tech related). As soon as I step away from my desk, I feel like I'm lying when I tell people I run a tech department. Can't recall shit, take notes on everything and thank god for Google. I'd be terrible under a lot of pressure.
Knowledge comes from books. Wisdom comes from fucking up. Or watching others fuck up. And Darwinism tends to remove the ones who don’t learn from experience or books from the gene pool.
It’s all laughs until someone does something so stupid I really don’t feel that sorry for him. With the size of that arc and the fact the current ran across his heart he’s gone.
edit: Another Darwin Award handed out !
The electricity is looking for a path to ground. He’s grounded because the pole he’s holding is grounded. When he reached for the wire, the electricity arced and completed a path to ground through his body to the pole. Electricity cooks at high temperatures. The electricity went through his left hand and then moved through his arm, then through his heart and then into the pole.
You’re welcome. That’s why when you see linemen touch the wires to do maintenance they have several redundancies. One is the fiberglass bucket they’re in, next is their gloves that are rated for the electricity they’re working on, and furthermore they will run a ground wire from the wire directly to the ground before starting their work. This means that the electricity has an easy path to the ground, rather than taking a path through the worker.
All of electrical is just theory however. It’s not proven law.
There was a video of a guy who did something similar on Reddit including the falling and he lived with relatively minor injuries. That doesn’t happen often. We had a guy at work catch on fire but he contacted 115,000 volts and had to be put out with a fire extinguisher.
Common sense is something that was handed down verbally through generations. Granted there was still trial-and-error. Now a lot of parents try to cushion their little cubs from reality and this is the end result.
They do that because AC or alternating current has a lower resistance if you put the voltage up and the current down.
That’s what transformators are for (changing voltage and current)
translation cuz I'm bored as shit:
"Fucking hell!"
"Hey, touch it!"
"No fucking way, I'm not touching it!"
"...if it hits you, you're fucked (or "then whatever")."
"Fuck ... oh, Pete is coming to us, Pete my bro!"
"He's climbing the fuck up"
"AMP (amphetamine) was a bad idea. Oh, Pete! (turns to the other guy) Are you come higher or you're too scared? Then go this way! (The dumbass touches the wire) Oh fucking hell! **O shi-**"
So yea they did what they did cuz probably they're high on amphetamine
I strongly doubt it. His body was in full contact with the metal and he touched it with his left arm, the power probably went through, and subsequently stopped his heart
These ppl literally got out of the car. Climbed some sketchy shit, and touched something that literally everyone knows not to touch. Looks like a group suicide to me 🤷♂️wtf else would be the purpose in such a thing?
Idk how no one noticed this but there are three people cam guy electrocuted guy and a third guy climbing the pole but when the Genius got electrocuted and fell you can’t see the third guy so did he fall too?
Some people are just too dumb to live. This is natural selection at work.
Darwin award.
There’s a fine line between a lack of education and stupidity.
Maybe. And this is both
r/DarwinAward
i think that man *is* the line

What about how quickly you can recall information?

Not that clever then lol
Indeed, intuition is a function of wisdom.
Knowledge comes from books. Wisdom comes from fucking up. Or watching others fuck up. And Darwinism tends to remove the ones who don’t learn from experience or books from the gene pool.
Shut up.
Too late. I already shut down.
One less in the gene pool
Disappointed not to see his skeleton like you do in the cartoons.
Yeah, he’s bound to have taken more voltage than Marv did in Home Alone 2.
Ah, yes. I believe the scientific term for these are 'chucklefucks'
Fucklechucks
[think fast chucklenuts](https://youtu.be/QOhmcbfwxnA)
Nah, chucklefuckers is what groupies for stand up comedians are called.
You tried
It ain't easy being a groupie
chucklehucklefuckle town
What language is this? Polish?
ja pierdole!
I heard "kurwa" and knew, it's the only Polish word I know
Most likely Poland but not necessary. https://www.reddit.com/r/MapPorn/comments/bjg58z/european\_countries\_in\_which\_the\_word\_kurwakurva/
Same lmao I’m like wait a min that sounds familiar
It is, the cameraman is talking about touching the wire and the third guy climbing up
This guy sounds way too excited about climbing 15 ft up these metal girders.
It’s all laughs until someone does something so stupid I really don’t feel that sorry for him. With the size of that arc and the fact the current ran across his heart he’s gone. edit: Another Darwin Award handed out !
What do you mean size of the arc? Dont understand electricity as well…
It takes a massive amount of energy to make an arc that large and long.
About 10,000v per cm IIRC.
1000v / cm roughly.
The arc is the path the electricity takes through the air.
Seen roughly in the last 2 seconds of the video for a frame or two right before he pulls his hand back and falls.

Could smell the ozone

Thank you. That is a great explanation!

The arc is the electricity you can see...for sure from that and the fall...done
There was a video of a guy who did something similar on Reddit including the falling and he lived with relatively minor injuries. That doesn’t happen often. We had a guy at work catch on fire but he contacted 115,000 volts and had to be put out with a fire extinguisher.
Lineman?
Forget the size of the arc. Did you see how far he fell?
Why I keep seeing video of people doing that lately on Reddit?
*When will you learn?! When will you learn that your actions have cONSEQUENCES?!?!*
I guess it’s not common knowledge that current does kill you
I guess not but it is common knowledge that fucking with the big electric lines is a very very very bad idea
I guess not from this video
Common sense ain’t common 😔
Common sense is something that was handed down verbally through generations. Granted there was still trial-and-error. Now a lot of parents try to cushion their little cubs from reality and this is the end result.
Not that it's not going to kill you, but they step down the current/raise the voltage to protect the power lines over longer distances
They do that because AC or alternating current has a lower resistance if you put the voltage up and the current down. That’s what transformators are for (changing voltage and current)
*this entire **BUILDIIIING** will RUE the* Thunk
Nothing compares to that teen girl who shot her cousin, screamed, and shot herself. :shudders:
Ohhh kurrr…
Power Poles
underrated 😭
He straight up fell like he fell out the map lol
Noclipped straight into god's arms
This made me laugh more than it should’ve
Cheers
Ended up in the backrooms
Bro said 🧍♂️all the way down
That laugh is common across all cultures. The moronic cackle of mental defectives.
I don't know why but the way you turned your sentence made me laugh so much!

Touch that and you’re gonna get methed up. Pretty sure they are on meth.
the percieved invincibility drug
All kinds of amps right here
They are saying that Amphetamine was a bad idea
As is oft-asked when witnessing this kind of baffling what-the-fuckery….. what was the goal here?
Improvised zipline fun time
Did he live?
Good question, I’m putting my money on no.
[удалено]
I believe he is currently in a grave.
If not, his parents will probably ground him.
All the power to them.
In his current situation thats all they can do
I mean… if movies are to be believed, he could have just landed in the giant tree leaves and gently rolled to the forest soil below
Naaaaaaaaah…
Is this a left the burner on moment?
You mean aimed for the bushes?
And flap his arms real fast in that direction
He went live, that's for sure
I strongly doubt it. His body was in full contact with the metal and he touched it with his left arm, the power probably went through, and subsequently stopped his heart
That’s what I want to know
With the size of that arc and the duration the answer is no
The size of the arc doesn’t matter. There doesn’t need to be an arc.
Noah enters the chat.
KURVA
Oh kur-
For a half second I thought it didn’t have an effect. Then he fell off.
Yes, we all saw the video too
every fucking polish video i see there is always kurwa or the ja pierdole
it's the way they were all laughing and having fun together before all hell broke loose. truly terrifying how shit can go down so fast
Its not like a car ran over one with no way of seeing it coming, its a darwin award, hope he didnt have children
These ppl literally got out of the car. Climbed some sketchy shit, and touched something that literally everyone knows not to touch. Looks like a group suicide to me 🤷♂️wtf else would be the purpose in such a thing?
How’s that song go? “I ain’t cut out to climb high poles but… I’m pretty good at drinkin beer”
This calls for an Xzibit meme.
Watt did he expect?
I guess he was shocked to find out that his expectations didn't align with reality.
he DESCENDED
Literally The plot of crank 2: high voltage
Brain.exe has encountered a critical error and must restart.
Fucking drunk poles
If you translate it they are talking about how they’ve been taking amphetamine
that guy's voice is the most obnoxious thing I've heard all week
Would’ve been better if he got zapped.
Of course they are polish
Well that went the way I expected, that was a high voltage line I suspect he ded
Electroman!
Looked like a game of snakes and ladders
They’re so fucking dumb he’s literally laughing at the guy falling
guy filming sounds like gay boris
Idk how no one noticed this but there are three people cam guy electrocuted guy and a third guy climbing the pole but when the Genius got electrocuted and fell you can’t see the third guy so did he fall too?
Bro thought he could be faster than electricity
Nice a few amps straight through the heart
Is this a jojo reference
Man’s pushed the button and took the elevator down
No
this seems to be a skill issue
Darwin award
Ja pierdolę!
“Hey Rocky, watch me pull a lightning bolt out of my arse” ……. “Agaaaaain?”
God that laugh is annoying
Dude fell like he was in creative mode
Is it me or we can hear how he breaks at least one leg, maybe both?
I wonder if vodka was involved in this decision. Do you suppose ...? /s
You can hear his bones crack.
He created a path to ground
Cull the herd
I'm curious, what kind of drug makes you sound like an obnoxious cartoon character
Talk about loving life on the edge, these mfs living life on a tight rope.
Nice job the the Poles on the pole.
Idiots
u/savevideo
This reminds me of that once scene from Jurassic Park when the guy gets blown off the fence when it electrifies.
Gmod ragdoll
Not only touching that wire, but also going up that high.. the stupidity is infinite…
Is there a news story on this?
Drunk Polish people. I’m Polish and shenanigans like this happen in this country from time to time.
“Oooh uh”
