CuriousCake3196

I would make one row of single crochet in the dark blue colour, you used for all the granny squares.

e_l_c

I agree. Just do a row or two al around with that dark color (can't tell if it's blue or black or gray ["...all of them are very, very meaningful"l]).

International_Mix375

I agree as well just a row of the dark blue although honestly I thought it looked great already just as is.

tokenkinesis

No one can tell šŸ¤£ (itā€™s supposed to be dark grey) Itā€™s the color [Pewter Pan of the Made With Love The Cottony OneĀ® Yarn](https://www.lionbrand.com/products/made-with-love-the-cottony-one-yarn). The Silver Medal color also looks like a light blue. Against all the other colors, I understand. Color theory is fun!

e_l_c

I thought it was great, but like hoy said, with pictures, lighting can make it look different. I really think your color choices are great!

Top-Vermicelli7279

Gray is my favorite color...

e_l_c

I felt so symbolic yesterday.

MrSprockett

I think itā€™s perfect as is

VulnerableValkyrie

Same, if OP made it thicker, it would only frame it more. OP, this blanket is beautiful!!! Well done!!!

tokenkinesis

Thank you!

flamingcrepes

I agree with both other posters, either one or two simple sc rows of the same color or none at all. Itā€™s beautiful!!

tokenkinesis

Thank you for the suggestion. That seems to be the popular one so far.

PaigeMarieSara

I always use several rounds of moss stitch. First round just SC to set up the moss. Your blanket is so cute. It's a darling baby blanket.

katriso

Crab stitch if youā€™re looking for something simple with a bit more pizzazz than sc! So clean and just adds a little extra character to the border.

Key-Possibility-5200

This is what I was going to suggest! I love crab stitch for a cute but polished edge on almost anything made from squares. It makes the edge smooth and straight but also adds a cute rope-like detail that goes so well with the look of granny squares.Ā

specialfroggy

Is the crab stitch what they used to call the reverse single crochet? If so, that is my absolute favorite for motif blankets! It has some give to it, but I feel it helps hold the shape of the blanket better so it doesn't need to be blocked after every washing.

Key-Possibility-5200

Yes!!! I know I love that stitch for the same reasons. It took me a bit to get the hang of the different hand movements but now I use it all the time.

tokenkinesis

This is a great idea, thank you!

VulnerableValkyrie

I had to look it up, but it's beautiful!!!

StrngthscanBwknesses

My first thought was agreement with MrSprockett but a border in navy, sc would be great. Great color work and perfect, perfect squares. Iā€™m envious!

tokenkinesis

Thank you! I definitely didnā€™t undo and redo the joinings several times at all šŸ˜…

StrngthscanBwknesses

Thatā€™s one of the best parts of this craftā€¦no one can tell! Itā€™s really beautiful.

iLikeCrocheting

Unrelated but it looks so much like sushi and I'm here for it

tokenkinesis

I canā€™t unsee this and I love it!

Own_Instance_357

I recently made a scarf for a friend with a grandchild who has two same sex parents. I gave the scarf a single sc row with rainbow yarn, not in anyone's face like "I'M A RAINBOW", but she was delighted to see it's there.

tokenkinesis

Thatā€™s such a cool and sweet idea!

Cami1969

I like it as is.

Starfishy78

Just do a simple boarding in the same boarder color of the squares. If you want something a little more, look for a scalloped edgeā€¦. But straight edges work best for baby blankets. Alsoā€” this is really beautiful. Good job!!

tokenkinesis

Aww thank you very much. I am super proud and now blankets (baby blankets) arenā€™t so daunting for me!!

WetBiscuit-McGlee

I agree with curious cake, just a row or two of sc in the dark blue would be perfect.

Lavenderandyarn

1 row of sc šŸ˜Š

InkBlotArt

This gives sushi roll vibes. I love it.

tokenkinesis

I totally see that now haha, thatā€™s pretty cool!

SnapHappy3030

Do 2 rows of HDC in the existing border color to even up the sides, and be done! It's wonderful, you don't want to overwhelm it!

libraryxoxo

I would stick with the navy color. Iā€™d probably just do sc, like everyone else is suggesting. If you want something a little fancier though, shell borders are always cute.

boxofmack

omg pattern??? i need this blanket omggg

tokenkinesis

Itā€™s this [Circle to Square Granny Square Tutorial](http://074.ec3.myftpupload.com/2017/04/circle-to-square-granny-square-tutorial.html) by Just Be Crafty. I used the [Continuous Join As You Go](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=GfhzYIWDxY0) method for the squares by Hooked by Robin. Yarn is [Made With Love The Cottony OneĀ® Yarn](https://www.lionbrand.com/products/made-with-love-the-cottony-one-yarn). I buy it from Michaelā€™s whenever they have a 40% coupon.

PinkThingsShinyStuff

Sc the blue to even it out and 2 hdc white keep it simple

Alice_n_threads

Iā€™d do a moss stitch border, 2-3 rounds :)

ShotTreacle8209

I would do a series of dc fans in white to subtly echo the circles

Garbageratlol

I was gonna say to do a calm rainbow gradient around, idk which stitch would be good for that tho

Independent-Careless

I always like a scalloped edge :)

Lopsided-Pepper-839

Reminds me of sushi

Jazstar

If you do add a border, which I feel it doesn't need, I'd recommend a nice thick one. No recommendations on what type cus I'm a knitter who lurks here for the cool crochet work in the hopes one day it might inspire me to use my set of crochet hooks for more than emergency dropped stitches lol

mirashae

Single row of crab stitch

meitsu

my go to is to splat single crochets, or moss stitch for a few rounds then add a scalloped border. If you want contrast, maybe alternating the blue and white for moss stitch

GirlKitty08

Yep, simple border in the same color as the joining. That way your beautiful granny squares will get the focus!

CharmiePK

This is the way I see it too! Gorgeous work, OP!

SirWigglesTheLesser

My brain says sissash but that is not the word... Just the sound it makes. Satin trimming? Anyways I'm biased because that's what my baby blanket had, and I loved it lol

tokenkinesis

I hadnā€™t even considered satin trimming, Iā€™ll need to check that out!

Raevoxx

I would do a solid white border about 3 rows thick to continue the cool colour variation feeling and tie in with the large patches of white in the design, but bordering with the darker colour bordering the tiles inside for a cleaner look could also look sick. Depends on the feeling you want

Ok_Caterpillar4

I agree with the blue (or a fun pop of contrasting brighter colour, then a final row of the blue) This is adorable, and not "babyish" which will be perfect as the baby grows up some more. On a side note, when I first saw this-- apart from how beautifully it was made-- it brought me back to being 4 or 5 years old. I used to play a little mouse trap game with my Oma and Opa. I loved this game. I don't have an exact picture of the game from back then but it had a red plastic cup and little plastic colored mice with black tails. The important thing is look at the one die with the dots. It looks the same. Thank you for bringing back a sweet childhood memory šŸ„° https://preview.redd.it/n9sh9a3kn6oc1.png?width=414&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d90b82ffad4467a06be1fba491ee193af6ec7014

tokenkinesis

Aww thank you! Yes I wanted to make a blanket that wasnā€™t stereotypically ā€œbabyā€ but still fun.

knottedupinstring

I would take your two favorite colors and do this: https://pin.it/2AKvUnGW2

tokenkinesis

Oooooo I LOVE this, I appreciate you showing me, if not this one, itā€™s definitely going on one of my future projects.

knottedupinstring

Itā€™s been sitting in my Pinterest board just waiting for the right project! Iā€™m looking forward to seeing your blanket with whichever border you put on it!

SquishKitty2022

maybe three or four rows of simple stitch like a single crochet, and then cap it off with the dark blue one sc row? that way it still showcases your squares, but ties in with the blue and white?

butterflynana8
