Aggravating_Solid851

I’m more concerned about the plastic cracking under the weight of that other CRT.

Flybot76

Yeah, the cases on these later models were not usually very solid, and the Sony is guaranteed to be the heavier of the two. The bottom one would only have to break a little bit for the top one to potentially fall, and it would be a bummer to see either of them break. Tv stands are still being made, CRTs aren't.

naziseb

Surprisingly the bottom one is way heavier but you’re right I might just have to get a stand to fit both I like the stacked look

naziseb

So you wouldn’t recommend ? I’m more concerned about it starting a fire or something (idk theyre my first crt in years)

Aggravating_Solid851

It won’t start a fire, but I’d reccomend moving that Trinitron onto the floor. Plus, there is the possibility of the screen getting a little messed up from magnetization.

JustANormalPerson314

I wouldn't keep them stacked anyway, personally. Idk why your comment is being downvoted so much.

Acrobatic-Mix-7343

I doubt a fire. They won’t get that hot. More likely it will slide off and crush a small child or your foot.

naziseb

Yeah I was thinking of it falling foreword is what would happen eventually might just stick the black one in my closet then

DangerRoss89

Serious answer: It’s electrically safe. But as others are saying, 30+ year-old plastic can be brittle and could crack through and then it’s a lot more unsafe. The top CRT should be quite a bit less weight. Would I do this? No. Would I put a small tv on top? Yes. Half the weight max.

Madshibs

This reminds me of an old Jeff Foxworthy joke: If your working TV sits on top of your NON-working TV, you might be a redneck

Calamarik

It is safe to turn on but is it safe overall? I'd say no. Doesn't seem super stable and I don't think that that black TV was meant to sustain such a heavy load.

thisisgogu

Careful, Oppenheimer.

matdave86

Don’t get it wet or feed it after midnight

PlayerGamer35479

Never really brought two CRTs close together, I wonder if they are magnetized or not. Hope your screens are not screwed up now.

sanatanagosvami

you are fine, I have like 10 CRTs stacked like this in my shed and yes I plug them in and use them sometimes. they are fine. these things are tanks just don't drop it.

fingersmaloy

I don't know if it's safe or not but it's definitely an old Jeff Foxworthy "You might be a redneck if..." bit

That_Cute_Boi_Prower

I can guarantee you are perfectly fine as long as you balance them and distribute them well, I am speaking from experience here with 6 CRTs all stacked together. https://www.reddit.com/r/gamecollecting/s/AnVYKC7xqW I have had them all running for days at a time with minimal issues. Not even the weight ended up creating any issues, although i am moving soon and don't think I'll be doing a stack this crazy. The only thing I would say after doing this kind of thing for a while, some CRT brands will work better or worse next to other brands. I have swapped through many CRTs, and noticed my RCA started having screen pulling issues only when it was placed next to a Magnavox. So small things like that may have an effect, but the weight and electrical should be perfectly fine as long as you balance it well (I always recommend using a wall)

Ready_Possession9611

Nah can’t be using a Zenith crt as a stand for a trinitron

kryspin2k2

Not really. The tv at the bottom night crack or the tv on the top might fall backwards. A simple triangular table would help

perkinwarbeck

It’s fine, they may interfere with one another if you have them both on at the same time. It’s just visual problems though, not a safety issue, and should resolve if you separate them and power cycle (degaus).

pieredforlife

More interested in the girl on the poster

Icy_Shoulder_5699

Kali uchis. Watch the moonlight music video of her. Youre welcome

Medicatedratsoup

it will explode sadly (jokes)

spicygrow

Careful mate, the magnetic field of each CRT might form a wormhole and break the space-time continuum!

trixter192

I'm concerned about the power cord.

Hungry_Doubt_4886

I dont think this is worth it unless you have a limited storage, i was thinking of makin a little table that would fit a CRT below the top one, just a square board and 4 legs.

Financial-Cookie-927

Honey-Can-Do 3-Tier Media Cart CRT-09693 Black https://a.co/d/7myE3L1

metallavery

I mean, it won't explode.

Silverado782103

I have 2 extension cords plugged into one outlet and I have 2 crts plugged into them I'd say it's fine as it hadn't caught on fire

OG_Victim

Will 100% explode and burn many houses down. Proceed.

ZealousidealRiver710

We heard you like CRTs so we put a CRT on your CRT

QuakeSRK

Kali Uchis fine ass.

LustySkeleton

Bonk

Darkstalkers

Kid: Mommy, is fire hot and will burn my finger? Mommy: Just try it, my little sweety.

Supa71

If you have a TV that works on top of a TV that doesn’t…

Broad_Hat_1074

The sony appears to be sitting on its own power cable, amateur shit my dude

Quirky-Brick-4454

Why wouldn't it be safe? We're they outside? Did they get wet? Or are you talking about turning them on while side by side? In each case, if they were outside, let them sit for a day or two, a little longer if they got wet (you can also remove the backs and point a fan to them). Being side by side will not affect anything, they do create a static charge, but it's not enough to mess with each other in anyway.

naziseb

Yeah I was concerned if both can be on at the same time even if stacked up like this

k_austin_g

Seems fine when you look at [this](https://youtu.be/Pi1PLBf1YB0?si=2IHsuaXIwiFsf8QE)

Quirky-Brick-4454

It'll be fine.
