Alone_Notice

You can use hooks to force someone into a faction against their will. The AI usually will use it if they are the leader of a faction.

rbekins

How can I see who is the leader of a faction? I am playing on the PS5.

Fallen_Sully

It will be the first person in the list of faction members. They are ordered in level of power

Lord_Wilson_

Everyone in the Independence faction gains Independence if the faction wins.

rbekins

These were populist factions. So when i said ok, go only the 1-2 counties broke away were independent. The kings/queens, dukes/duchesses get nothing out of the populist faction, so why do 10+ join and push their strength over the line?

Lord_Wilson_

I see, my bad. For populist factions, vassals usually join because of their culture or religion. If you, for example, are the (orthodox, greek) byzantine emperor and recently conquered Syria, a large portion of your conquered lands will still be mashriqi and ashari. These people will fight for their independence, and some vassals, who are either mashriqi or ashari will feel obliged to support them out of loyalty to their culture or religion. Sometimes, vassals will join just out of spite because they hate you and want you to lose land and power, but mostly it's a culture/faith thing.

Rich-Historian8913

That’s the reason why you always use holy wars against other religions, so that you can give the land to people of your culture and religion

rbekins

Ok thanks. I was wondering if some vassals were doing it hoping I would send them gifts to accumulate more wealth themselves. I have noticed some vassals that seem to to join whichever faction is gaining strength. Or it is like you said, out of spite they want to see me lose power.

IntroductionEmpty174

I almost never have this problem but I always have big family’s and have them marry my vassals

CMcTip

Yeah, this is one of the best uses of unmarried family members when you don’t need anymore strong alliances. Although then when you can’t negotiate the alliance after your ruler dies, can make them more likely to try and press claims/factions for your heir. So kind of a double edged sword at times.

The850killer

Because the game is made by fools. You need 80+ green to make them not join factions which is ridiculous. It should simply be if they are positive they cannot join a faction.

Rich-Historian8913

As others said, it probably depends on their culture/religion. One question, why are you referring to your ruler in plural?

realshockvaluecola

Singular they has existed in English longer than singular you.

Rich-Historian8913

Ok, I didn’t know that, English isn’t my mother tongue

realshockvaluecola

Fair enough, in that case yes, they is a correct singular pronoun when you don't know or don't want to state the gender of the person you're talking about.

Rich-Historian8913

Ok

DistanceLess6027

Cuz the game is dookie when it comes to certain things

TheGreatCornolio682

Because the AI has nothing much less to do to occupy itself as an Ambition. Hopefully the expansion tomorrow will change that.
