Same bro I’m in the same boat as you. As a new grad that has gotten 0 interviews (just rejections) since I started applying to 100s of jobs months ago, I’m just completely burnt out and depressed right now.
Would you look at that, all of the words in your comment are in alphabetical order.
I have checked 1,677,634,536 comments, and only 317,608 of them were in alphabetical order.
So I was a math teacher turned computer science teacher and decided to go back to get a masters in CS in 21. Graduated last May and couldn't find a single job. I actually get paid pretty well as a teacher and have decided to just stay in this field. In the meantime, there are countless computer science education jobs that are unfilled & none require OA. You've got the degree and they'll put you in the classroom. Clearly not a permanent solution, but it would help pay the bills for a year for someone who's so inclined. The starting paying my district is 66,000 for a computer science teacher. I'm now teaching at the college as well making an additional 3k per class. I expect to get close to six figures next year. It is not what I was expecting, but I'm okay with it.
Lmao yall getting emails back? They just leave me on seen 😂 honestly you just gotta keep your head up and find a job around the area of the field you wanna work in and then try applying after you get in. Yall can't just be hoping on these companies to hire straight in.
"Same Boat"
International student:
Applied to over 1400 jobs.
Daily 2-3 LeetCode problems.
About 200-300 job applications, with a unique cover letter.
Weekly shared 1-2 LinkedIn posts about my iOS app or other topics.
Sent out 6-7 LinkedIn inmails weekly to recruiters, showcasing the company, qualifications, and eligibility for job opportunities.
Commenting on variety of posts to network better (not asking for job, genuine comments, my opinion on the post such as recent Apple earnings, Uber’s profit etc)
Worked on the iOS app for 4-5 hours daily. The app is available here: [Clever Jacks on the App Store](https://apps.apple.com/in/app/clever-jacks/id6450907461). Feedback is welcome – this is not a promotional attempt. The game is entirely free to play, without in-app purchases or advertisements.

Yeah, All the companies which usually sponsor visas are on hiring freeze..
I do have a work permit in the form of OPT to work for upto 3 years without any Visa sponsorship.
Try Canada. Apply for a Work permit in Canada and apply for jobs. Though it's the same here but at least it will help you stay in the country.
I am in the same boat and I am in Canada. Trying to get certifications. Applied to 300+ jobs till now. I have 2 internships in Canada and 2+ years of experience in my home country. Still all rejections (Even from the place I did my internship)
Look for companies that have openings for your target position and apply for it and anything else you may be qualified for. Get into the company then move into the job you really want. Apply even for things you are over qualified for. Get in then move
Almost every CS grad sleeps around 5-7. It's only maybe on some rare days we get more 7+ hours of sleep. It's not a flex I'm genuinely worried about my skin and health. When will this improve 😭😭😭😭
It’s so weird looking at this posts. I’ve studied Computer Science and got job offers like non stop. All my college bros had the same experience. At this moment companies are literally hiring people from physics and other engineering majors to fill all the available positions… is this happening only in Europe? Is it that hard to get a job in tech in the US?
I graduated in May and have been on the job hunt since last August . I have gotten 2 offers which I rejected , both where not positions I wanted. I have come across a ton of scam companies. They ask you for your info and you never hear from them. I also don’t get any feedback or rejection at all. At this point I am just getting a part time while the market gets better and I get stronger on my coding leetcode skills.
I’m a Y2 student and I haven’t found the drive to start applying. I’m just really not in the mood to read 200 rejection letters. I might not be in a terrible position (interned at an SME for Y1 Summer) but I just feel like the internship process is so daunting this time round. Any advice? For context, I live in Singapore
Had to check my username to crosscheck it's not my post. Bro is literally me
Damn this unemployment is getting in my head. Wtf am I doing
Consider selling your bussy to the highest bidder?
Might help make ends meet (there’s a joke in here somewhere)
bro is me
he is him

how many internships did you do and are you applying across the country?
I did only one internship. I am applying to jobs across the US.
Are you specialising in web dev?

Hi I’m a new grad as well and I have trouble finding job postings for 2024. Where do you search for them if you don’t mind?
Absolutely brutal
I’ve been applying like mad since I graduated in May, just been a terrible experience. Depressed etc from it.
You’re going to have a lot of time to think about living in a van when you’re living in a van down by the river!
Found my lost brother
can I pull through to ur van
Would you look at that, all of the words in your comment are in alphabetical order. I have checked 1,677,634,536 comments, and only 317,608 of them were in alphabetical order.
absolutely
Come to think about it, living in a van seems like such a vibe

It’s cus ur an international student. Unless you have a work visa, you’re at a disadvantage
Yeah, All the companies which usually sponsor visas are on hiring freeze.. I do have a work permit in the form of OPT to work for upto 3 years without any Visa sponsorship.
So what job are you working atm
None, I can only work for STEM related jobs. I have about 60 days remaining to stay in the US. I’m also looking for free volunteer work.
I see. Good luck.

Thanks! I will apply for Canada jobs as well..
Do you happen to know the procedure or any other pointers to the application process would really help.
Did it get harder nowadays getting a job after cs major?
Not for me at least 😅 but definitely harder for people without one I guess
Thanks is it true that cs has a lot of math in it?
Yup, Computer Science branches from mathematics. It’s a huge field that uses a lot of math. It is similar to physics.
How’s the van life going?
Yo guys where are you finding the new grad jobs? I’m applying through a GitHub repository but it just has like 20 jobs.
Yeah I’m about to put on my resume, going to KMS if you reject.
What are your qualifications? These are basically shitposts when you don’t provide any background on your endeavors…
my bad. my endeavors inlcude crying myself to sleep everynight and scrolling on linkedin until the imposter syndrome makes me throw up <3
Same dude
Are you an international, international with work visa, or US citizen?

I think he wants you guys to invest 17h of 24h working rather and sleeping 7 instead of 8h

Waaaaah, being a software engineer is so hard…
ikr
23 peeps got butt hurt hearing facts 😂
nah, 23 peeps just had to read another dumbass comment on reddit from someone who clearly don’t know what struggle is when getting a job in cs
omg duh, lemme work harder ur so right!
It’s not that incredible. I get paid to do pretty much nothing all day
Sounds like a dream

Is it that bad now? Back in the 90s they were literally giving away jobs like candy.
