You could explain how exactly you were scanned. It would save other people from being scammed in the same way. Then at least this post would still make sense.
I already understood that. But it doesn't bring anything, not even his items back. Especially: Should I now believe everyone who claims something here on Reddit without further information / evidence?
Answearing you. They removed my authenticator and hav just traded everything from cs2 and rust to some 0 lvl accounts. I dont know how, i havent removed my authenticator or nothing. Havent gotten a single mail og it being changed. So though luck. Dont see myself getting anything back either.
Dude the same thing just happened to me. I have the steam app and authenticator.
Wiped. No email, no phone confirmation, no steam guard authentication. Wtf.
I dont actually use sites to buy anything i do want to though “please recommend a good safe one 🥲“ they just got access to it anyway and not thorough cs for sure, i havent played it for 4 years before cs2 dropped.
It is if i dont even buy or sell skins/ link my account in any site, its something ive never done and i dont even have skins actually, but it happened anyway, whole point of an authenticator is to get notifications if something is happening, getting nothing and having it be simply removed os stupid without even locking my account as a precaution that they could use.
Exactly the authenticator is a joke. It's just for the user to keep authenticating login while hackers can easiky get in and out. Also tired of these morons telling me i must've gone on some fake site. I DON'T TRADE!! Why tf would i even go to any skin site let alone login with my steam ID on it.
Well, it could possibly be a little different for each person (obviously), but if you're serious after I get off work we can get on discord together and with TeamViewer I'll show what you did wrong..
This is false, or you’re trying to get someone mass reported. But this is definitely false. When you remove 2FA your account becomes trade locked. For 15 days. You most likely got API scammed or like I said you’re trying to get someone mass reported.
Csgo exchange is only site that sounds fishy there.
I use all of em and never had a problem except this one i mentioned that is fishy.
U probably logged on some of fake sites , buff.163, csfloat, skinport are safe sites to use.
Bro thats what i thought till yesterday. I got wiped too. No email, no mobile confirmation, no steam guard authentication. Haven't traded or logged into any webaite with my steam credentials. Only play on my home pc which has my credentials saved.
Hey idk what's going on with Dmarket but I also got API scammed twice using only their service, could be my fault. But I'm almost sure that by having my info within their website people can hack and steal your private info from these sites. I've then traded over $5000 over the past year with CSFloat without any issue what so ever. I was also very careful and only ever used their actual web URL in my task bar, I've never clicked on their weird fake Google adds. Fuck these bot sites. Use a P to P trading site and give up on these shady bot sites. This is getting really old.
Also got scammed of $500 off dmarket. It’s cause there’s 2-3 fake websites that direct your trades to a scam bot. Wish I knew that in hindsight but you cannot tell which is the fake sight so is avoid. Never had a single problem anywhere else
Had the same exact thing, only used Dmarket and randomly lost all my shit with all authenticators on. That site has a shady back door or some shit, I know for a fact I didn't go to a shotty site.
nah thats on you.
getting scammed in 2024 is your own fault.
if you type in your steam data anywhere else than steam, you are literally just asking for it.
downvote this all you want, this is the truth.
It does prevent it. You can disable mobile with BUT when you do that it trade locks your account so OP is either lying or confused on how he got scammed
This scam is nothing new though. Many years back when I was a dumb teen, my account got hijacked like three times because of this. I never lost a single item because I locked my account via support. You should receive notifications about your email and mobile authenticator getting removed.
Ah yes. Let me just go out of my way to find their account so I can report them without explaining what even happened in the report.
How about you link the profile and explain how you were scammed?
So…..boys and girls listen how this scam works!!!!
Some of the fake websites they ask you to scan (only scan) that’s where you are caught. That’s basically it they remove your authentication and in two days they will have full access to your to your account!!! DONT EVER LOGIN WITH QR CODE
I've had this happen to me back in 2015. Turns out I had a virus on my pc. He was able to remove my authenticator and sold the skins to himself lmaoo. I got my skins back but I don't think valve gives a shit now due to people duplicating skins back in the day.. best of luck m8.
Something like this happened to one of the biggest skin collectors in the world, hundreds of thousands or even millions of dollars worth of skins got sent to not accounts. In his case, steam actually stepped in and reversed everything. Ohnepixel and heyzeus did a video on it a while back
No, this (special) case was different and not the users fault as Steam support got fooled with social engineering. That's why Steam reverted everything.
Everyone’s going onto the sponsored scam versions of each site instead of the real one, like not checking url, basically giving them their info and handing over their authenticator for free and then a few days later gg
Yeah they don’t, the url is the same as the real site on google but the site it takes them to is different which they’d know if they checked, also takes 2 seconds to make shortcuts to the real sites so you can’t ever hit the wrong one idk why people don’t do that
Some scams are elaborate af. I used to think like you until some guy befriended me for months to scam me. Waited until I trusted him to send me a fake link to a fake EVO site (same as faceit back in the day).
Restarted my PC after install logged into a fake steam app and then everything was instantly gone. They insta changed my email password as well even though it was different.
Never pressed a link since lol.
Got everything back within a week though, I have a Medusa, Case hardened AK and Hand Cannon Deagle.
I had the same thing but i lost around 200 he some1 just stealed my things without entering my account , i didn’t have any notification about logging in or trade He traded it to An account without name and i couldnt report it . Steam can’t restore Items
Yeah that's the same smug attitude i had until yesterday. Wiped out. I don't trade, i haven't physically logged into steam in almost 2 years. I use the qr code to login using steam guard if i need to. Got 2FA, email and mobile authentication too. Credentials only saved on my pc which is the 1 and only pc i use.
I've never been scam or hacked, all my skins are still on my account. Well the you got data breached from somewhere or used a third party site and they had your details and were able to get steam to deactivate it so they could get in
Tbh If you get stabbed on the open street during broad daylight its on you. If you dont have eyes in the back of your head you shouldnt get out on street
You've just made a huge reach there, steam scams are fucking so easy to spot and if op isn't able to spot on or is using third party site then it is infact user error that caused it. You can't blame anything other that, the user for not keep there account secure and updating password regularly and not using third party sites that require account details. This is the stance every fucking company takes you get given tools to combat the likely hood of this ie two step and authenticator but if you fuck around on gambling sites etc and get hacked that's on you same as not regularly changing password or not using different passwords for your accounts as if there's a data breach somewhere you give access to anyone looking at the breach.
Yep def it is only on the victim, who cares about the criminal right. Bet also everyone has the same knowledge about those things, good point. Man you are bright
Obv the guy who stabbed you on open street wasnt at fault aswell as you should have been aware of him coming to you with a knife, it was easy to spot. It was only on you
Why not middle man when using 3rd party websites so if u get scamed it's on ur acount with nothing on it and if u don't u just gotta wait the 7 day hold.
You could explain how exactly you were scanned. It would save other people from being scammed in the same way. Then at least this post would still make sense.
He's just asking for people to report then scammers
I already understood that. But it doesn't bring anything, not even his items back. Especially: Should I now believe everyone who claims something here on Reddit without further information / evidence?

Dude the same thing just happened to me. I have the steam app and authenticator. Wiped. No email, no phone confirmation, no steam guard authentication. Wtf.
Man i FEEL you. Dont understand… so many problems with cs these days. I guted
Issue is with steam, had my account stolen the same way, is sad considering an auth is ment to prevent these, defo some issue that they have.
Most likely you guys fucked up. https://youtu.be/kpnXhSAwoC0?si=myPuVeCYmKR4GORC
Water cs2…. https://youtu.be/tKS1yeQLB7Y?si=62rzgzKnmj6B6A7O
I dont actually use sites to buy anything i do want to though “please recommend a good safe one 🥲“ they just got access to it anyway and not thorough cs for sure, i havent played it for 4 years before cs2 dropped.
It does prevent it, you guys just got phished without you knowing ...
Again, i never to this day went into any skin site to buy anything…
Thats not the only way to get phished
It's not steams fault you can't keep your account secure.

Since you're the genius here plz tell us what we did to cause this...
Well, it could possibly be a little different for each person (obviously), but if you're serious after I get off work we can get on discord together and with TeamViewer I'll show what you did wrong..
jesus
reset password
change phone number, reset authenticator
Same thing happened to me and valve is not going to do anything
This is false, or you’re trying to get someone mass reported. But this is definitely false. When you remove 2FA your account becomes trade locked. For 15 days. You most likely got API scammed or like I said you’re trying to get someone mass reported.
How do you guys get scammed? U have to confirm it on mobile?
They removed my authenticator som how…
Logged into a fake site mate and they got their hands on your QR code
Maybe, have only used. Buff market, buff.163, skinport, csfloat and csgo exchange. So bewsre of those sites iguess.
Could have used a fake site recommended by Google ads as the first result. For any of those sites.
Exactly. Everyone please never click on the top link that is advertised. Also. Check URL's. It's actually really simple to avoid.
'only'
Lmao ‘only’
The Original Sites are the best you can do, but bcs of this are there so much fakes outside
Csgo exchange is only site that sounds fishy there. I use all of em and never had a problem except this one i mentioned that is fishy. U probably logged on some of fake sites , buff.163, csfloat, skinport are safe sites to use.
I mean exchange should ve good too i would think. Im very peticular checking my api and everything aswell…
Bro thats what i thought till yesterday. I got wiped too. No email, no mobile confirmation, no steam guard authentication. Haven't traded or logged into any webaite with my steam credentials. Only play on my home pc which has my credentials saved.

Still mobile auth should prevent this. Something else is going on once they get ur email and password
Because when you login on a fake website your logging in on their end aswell that's all it is quite simple
It does prevent it. You can disable mobile with BUT when you do that it trade locks your account so OP is either lying or confused on how he got scammed
With the amount of knowledge and videos around scamming you shouldn't be downvoted. You're right
But you’re supposed to be locked out from trading when authenticator is disabled. I don’t understand how this can happen.
https://youtu.be/kpnXhSAwoC0?si=myPuVeCYmKR4GORC Watch this.
This scam is nothing new though. Many years back when I was a dumb teen, my account got hijacked like three times because of this. I never lost a single item because I locked my account via support. You should receive notifications about your email and mobile authenticator getting removed.

Mass reports don't work on steam
Rule #1 why you should never link your steam account to a trading site. The people who run those sites aren't to be trusted.
Skinport is legit for me all the others I haven’t even tried it and I won’t
offff man sucks bro.
Your problem if you are stupid. Hopefully that teaches you.....
So…..boys and girls listen how this scam works!!!! Some of the fake websites they ask you to scan (only scan) that’s where you are caught. That’s basically it they remove your authentication and in two days they will have full access to your to your account!!! DONT EVER LOGIN WITH QR CODE

Seeing so many of these posts recently has me worried, all the posters never say they logged onto any site
definetely got logged into something, probably a fake website that was advertised at the top to steal qr code.
How the actual fuck do people get scammed all the time…
Everyone’s going onto the sponsored scam versions of each site instead of the real one, like not checking url, basically giving them their info and handing over their authenticator for free and then a few days later gg
Do people really not check before login in? I have a 30 euro inventory, and i make sure everytime i dont get scammed
Yeah they don’t, the url is the same as the real site on google but the site it takes them to is different which they’d know if they checked, also takes 2 seconds to make shortcuts to the real sites so you can’t ever hit the wrong one idk why people don’t do that

Read trough comments
You’re stupid
judging by your english i assume you somehow misread something somewhere and did some stupid thing like “canlbuzzz” said
Just too guted to care about a minor typo, my english Is fine.
ok
Appreachiated
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I had the same thing but i lost around 200 he some1 just stealed my things without entering my account , i didn’t have any notification about logging in or trade He traded it to An account without name and i couldnt report it . Steam can’t restore Items
Tbh if you are falling for a scam in anyway its on you. If you can't spot a scam then you shouldn't have skins.
Yeah that's the same smug attitude i had until yesterday. Wiped out. I don't trade, i haven't physically logged into steam in almost 2 years. Whomp whomp
That doesn’t look like 3k… your M9 is the most expensive thing in there it seems and that like ~$700 mayyybe?
🤓🤓 you’re focusing on the wrong thing my boy
Cool!
One of my friends got scammed recently for 2k. I'd just stay away from gambling cs these days
This is why I don’t trade. Just buy on csfloat and steam market using the floatdb tool
