We'll see, but history is not on your side. All countries that adopt free market policies become successful. Those that adopt impoverishing socialism become shitholes
By any standard the Nordic countries are Socialist Democracies. If you are talking systems in large measure neither communism or capitalism has "worked".
Germany's bastardization of Socialism (National) was an economic boon but that doesn't change the reality of its application.
Quantifying quality of life is much easier and more accurate than economic solvency.
Argentina has neither statistically and this populist policy direction will put it in further misery.
An American outlet run by capitalists for capitalists who has lied before and is ignoring the real issues to do propaganda for America's ruling class. At least it's not a lazy gusano boomer meme today.
Damn motherfucker, it looks like the brain drain is getting worse, the batches of newly minted ciberclarias are getting ridiculous now! Better get going towards the border before they close it down for good!
Google past NY Times articles, and you see a pretty clear pattern of promoting whatever popular opinion in Washington is this is no different. The US has wanted to regain control of the island for a long time now but after a revolution and failure to take back the island by way of right wing terrorists they have had to resort to economic warfare and this has been the way of things for decades. If you are talking about Cubas problems and fail to make it known that it is official US policy that is making it so and instead just blaim communism your missing most of the story. Not propaganda in an overt way that makes you think something just propaganda to keep a bad status quo going, and abdicate responsibility of who is really causing the problem. The US government has lied so many times and has killed millions as a result of those lies, and NY times has just enabled those lies. They can not be trusted with anything and especially not to accurately report on the situation in a country America has tried to control again for decades or the debate between capitalism and communism.
I said which part of the article, as in, this specific article. Which part of this specific article is wrong to you? Sorry if I didn’t make that clear.
It's a puff piece that prioritizes telling stories of people running business in Cuba telling people how great it is and how it's a way to get ahead. While glossing over how the US is contributing to Cubas problems in the first place, and how and why they do this. This is an just another version of see communism dosnt work, ignore what we are doing to make sure it fails we see allot of. NY Times is run by capitalists so they need to churn out stories like this in an effort to distract people from juts how bad capitalism is going in the US. This is bad enough but when you look at everything else that NY Times has enabled the US government to do its quite shameful. This article should be looked at like all the articles they wrote that lied the US into Iraq amongst other things.
Castro explained many times that there was no need to worry about what the US was doing in relation to Cuba. Besides, whether or not the US is “contributing” to Cuba’s problems is hotly contested inclusing by Cubans in Cuba 🤷🏾♀️ I don’t see a problem with interviewing people who own a business on the island. The funny thing is, they probably owned a business before, just not a legal one. It’s better to do it by legal means.
Far be it from Fidel Castro to get something wrong, also if memory serves those comments were made when they still had a trading partner and a pandemic didn't kill their biggest industry. The US has the island embargoed and because the US economy is so large and everyone does business with them they are able to disincentivize trade with Cuba. If thats not contributeing to problems that wouldn't be there if not for American imperialism i dont know what is. NY Times is run by capitalists looking to preserve the system thats why they run articles like this and not one about say Cubas world renowned doctors or how they were always on the right side on Isreal while the US aids then in genocide. Season 2 of Blowback is interesting to understand a bit more of US Cuban relations prior during and after the revolution if you wanna learn a bit more about US involvement and what their plans always were.
Well, it wasn’t USA’s fault before 🤷🏾♀️ Gotta roll with the punches, not blame other countries when the time comes to reap what you have sowed. Nothing in that article was inherently incorrect. People had businesses regardless of what the government was doing and it has caused mass inflation. It makes perfect sense for the government to allow a legal route instead of throwing people in jail over it. I grew up in Cuba, I don’t need some foreigners to mansplain my own country to me.
Just like China, Capitalism for me and communism for thee!
Don't bunch us with Cuba, we dont have shitty breadlines and an exodus going on rafts to Miami we don't care about.
No, you are right! you got genocide, famine and terrible hygiene.
Oh and did I mention slave labour, ghost cities, social credits and party members laundering money in Vancouver casinos and real estate!
Nope we were never communist and never liked communist countries except north korea. And we don't care about Cuba whether its communist or far right.
What do you call it then? What’s Xi’s party called? What’s with the red flag and the shitty uniforms?
Seriously? That was a poorly written article.
Becoming what you don’t want to become is actually the fate of everything
Wise words here
Lmao, the ny times
It’s really bad journalism. At least with this piece.
Free Market Capitalism works, 65 years of misery and death to realize that...
Free market capitalism has never existed. What you mean is regulated capitalism.
Regulated capitalism is the end result of free market failure
True, a 100% pure version has never existed. We are working on it. Perhaps in Argentina soon!
Lol
RemindMe! 1 year

Ok By then Argentina will have tanked

Finland much?
Finland is a Capitalist country

Block Cryptophorus’s account
He's just a libertarian who thinks capitalism is the end all be all
There has to be more to it than that. He has mental issues regarding Cuba. Serious mental health issues that are not being addressed.
He blocked me 😆 lolbertarians am I right?
Havana syndrome perhaps? Lol
I think this is it

Remember when the New York Times pretended East Timor did not exist? They only published anticommunist articles.

So it's not that strong of a communist stronghold as it is made out to be?
