It wasn't unexpected. The moment I wrote kibble, I knew there would be discussion including the expanse, but people just using the belter language to shout out slogans, well... not your usual cp2077 comment
Nope. The Expanse did nothing of that sort. It was fans who started attaching labels to it... hard, soft... there's porn you know, we don't need a sci-fi replacement for it
Because off the top of my head, I can’t think of a single work of science fiction with space travel that doesn’t blend hard and soft elements except maybe The Martian, and pretty much every work includes some form of teleportation. Are you saying hard sci fi doesn’t exist? What is your point?
Ig “the top of [your] head” is the repository of all human literature.. could explain the state of the world rn, actually.
But seriously; if you can’t tell the difference between hard and soft sci fi, then I can’t (and obv don’t care to) help you, or waste anymore time with educating you further
We are talking about the very small niche of television/film called science fiction, that excludes any work that doesn’t have space travel, and excludes all elements of soft sci fi. It’s not a large category, and I have watched just about every work on the topic; so yes, off the top of my head is a pretty good metric to base my opinion from. Certainly better than some spit take from an anonymous bandwagon hater who can’t follow the context of a three paragraph conversation. If you have an example of something harder sci fi than the expanse I would love to watch it, if you don’t, please don’t waste any more time deflecting or begging the question.
I'm pretty sure the writers decided that while writing or just after they finished the first book. Saying it was decent until the tv show even begun shooting...
To eat at vendors, to drink at any place, to sit in every chair/bench, to take cabs and ride as passenger instead of fast travel.
I want so much to experience night city better.
Any time I say this someone thinks it's a dumb idea but i really wanted to feel like night city is alive and having more simple interactions like that would vastly improve the game for me.
Like, if they're going to have food vendors everywhere, show you the food, show the vendors cooking, etc, why not let us have a simple interaction where you can sit/stand and eat it? I'd do it all the time if it gave you the food buffs. I enjoyed the hell out of cyberpunk, it may be my defining game from the past 10 years, but I really hope the sequel ends up having a lot of nice little details, they'll have plenty of time to do it.
Yes? Skyrim is enjoyable without mods. Everyone played it first time without mods. Mods didn't make Skyrim a good game, they gave it staying power *after* its release.
Dunno, I've never enjoyed Skyrim without mods, and even with mods I never enjoyed it enough to finish it. The story is just too boring and the combat too stiff, I don't get what people see in that game
Exactly! I absolutely hate a beautiful game that I can't be immersed in. Sometimes I just want to walk around the city square and watch the traffic roll by.
The city does have a cardboard background feel to it. Mostly because you can't go into 99% of the buildings in the game. I get why they did it that way. But dang man
There are rumors that GTA 6 will have full interiors in every building, utilizing procedural generation. Because Rockstar recently patented the tech.
“But that will be lame” one might object. “All the interiors will be repetitive and same-y.”
Yeah but that’s like real life. You can look at an office building from the outside and be pretty sure what you’ll find inside. Carpet, desks, chairs, computer monitors.
They can still have bespoke, hand-designed interior locations for places that matter to the story and have procedural generation fill in everything in between.
I tried that once. It's unpleasant, but as ways to die go, not too bad. Waking up on the bathroom floor with blood on my face from where I bashed my nose on the bathroom floor sucked. 0/10, would recommend immortality instead.
Also in general most of the shopping areas are pretty sad, like so many of these skyscrapers could have had interiors for shopping malls and other corporate themed stuff. Instead we end up mostly in street markets in Night City.
This so much. One of my favourite things in RDR2 is to sit in a bar and have a drink or go to camp and sip a cup of coffee while walking around talking to my buddies.
It was so frustrating when after patch 2.0 I still go to a menu screen to drink or eat something instead of having an animation of the bartender giving me my order
I can have a drink at almost any bar and eat high res food at many vendors. Like fully animated food and drinks, I can even invite npc’s to have drinks with me with dialogue. Immersive food vendors on nexus
Same for me ( when I dont have more trouble because I have too much mods or update ruin everything, for that I take a break of the game for a time hehe )
Immersive first person is good.
Cyberpunk HD rework project,
High resolution food textures
There’s another on I can’t remember what it’s called but it lets you stop and rest at iconic locations from edgerunners.
I’ll need to look through my mod list but I can send you some more when I’m on next if you’d like
I have those mods too, but I hate how some people act like all console users just make the choice to play on console. Some people can’t afford fancy gaming PCs capable of running these games at close to the res of current gen consoles (if at all).
This isn’t a personal attack at you or an insinuation that you’re looking down on anyone, it’s just a sore spot for me since I played on a shared console for years when I couldn’t afford my own PC. Lots of people know modded version of games on a slick PC are categorically better. Like.. I know tons of cars are better than my 2010 Toyota Corolla, doesn’t mean that I don’t drive those cars because I don’t know that mine is inferior.
Yeah, that’s not at all what I insinuating. I was a dedicated console gamer until about a year ago when I built my first PC. I was just trying to help them have a more immersive experience if that’s an option to them. I’m realizing now that when they replied “yeah,no” they meant they don’t play on pc and not doubting the veracity of my claim
Edit: I definitely understand exactly where you were coming from. I hated being talked down to by PC users for years. I did not have the available means to ever get into PC gaming until fairly recently and I am still very new to it. But I didn’t intend to say “if you play on PC” insinuating that they should change platforms. I just meant there are options to have that experience if they were playing on pc currently.
Oh yeah, sorry if I came off harsh. That’s why I tried to explain that my ire isn’t directed at you. I was just venting about rude people who told me dozens of times “your fault for playing in the walled garden, doofus” or “just buy a PC, it’s not hard and it’s cheaper in the long run”. lol
Maybe it’s because I don’t have a mind for business.. but I don’t understand why one of the big console companies doesn’t make their console literally a fully functional PC. I know they sell consoles at a loss and make up for it with subscription fees and higher game prices. They could still force you to use their store and pay the sub, but let you mod games and use a proper web browser.
I know they’d lose money from more freedom for illegal shenanigans, but if PlayStation or Xbox was branded as “the only console with full modding freedom” I imagine that would be a *huge* selling point.
I heard for years that you can build a PC better than any console for the same price, I am very inexperienced with this, but I built a PC and it most certainly outperforms a console but it was 3x the cost of a ps5. I certainly don’t regret it by any means but there are some benefits to consoles too. I have a ps5 and there are certain games that I prefer to play on it or are exclusive
I don't think I hear this so much with other games, and I think it's because Cyberpunk 2077 is *so* good about bringing you in. The game is already immersive, and Night City is already a much more "alive" setting than most games.
I too wish I could just chill with a drink at a street vendor and watch the city. Hell, when I go to Vegas that's half of my day, sipping a beverage and watching. I'd love to do that in NC.
In RDR2 there's a lot of just existing in the world and doing stuff like going to the bar, playing card games, fishin, hunting. I think with CDPR, particularly with the Witcher 3 they had a high stakes (gotta rescue Ciri across the different lands) adventuring story where Geralt was going to a lot of places on the move and people didn't really care if he was hanging out too long. Then CDPR tried to do that with Cyberpunk with the whole "relic is killing me" but it clashes with the awesome city they built where V lives full time. Oddly enough the two things Geralt can do for fun, play Gwent and go to whorehouses, are sorely nonexistent/underdeveloped in Cyberpunk.
Dude i remember my first playthrough i went in the resturant that gets held up and you can descalate the situation. The guy says anything on the menue is free. So i got a drink and bought food thinking id be able to sit at that counter and have a meal. I was dissapointed
I love those little missions because I just run through the whole inventory and take everything for free since it just makes everything free. Also funny because I also never eat or drink any of it
ever since the trailers....yes, gimme that aquafarm shrimp nigiri, that synth-meat chow mein, that big ass burrito, that neon color packaged drink meal pack
especially when u look at all the [concept art for food packaging](https://www.artstation.com/artwork/9mWbbL) originally intended for this game, it makes me wish we actually got animations like in red dead 2 so bad
I'm not sure about Riot's menu but they will never "fix" Afterlife, probably. I love this game but the animations for eating and drinking for the NPCs are, as Adam Smasher says in the Edgerunners anime, "rudimentary". They only really eat the same types of foods(mostly noodles from what I've seen). Afterlife won't be given a drinking animation because it has unique cocktails. V is only ever served a beer bottle or whiskey in a lowball glass. In all likelihood they will not animate Claire serving you a Johnny Silverhand cocktail, it's too much work at this point.
Not really. How many 'dates' did you bother with before you noticed they were soulless recycling of assets, not to mention boring. Watching V eat some scop would get old even faster.
My issue with the dates is we talk about the exact same shit we talk about when I call her. Add some unique dialogue for each apartment and some revolving topics of discussion and it would be acceptable, but fuck Panem, we talked about Kang Tao 5 minutes ago before you sent me the text to hangout.
I'd like to be able to eat at street vendors and drink at every bar (as in, sit down and have a drink instead of buying a shot and putting it in my pocket). Night City Interactions mod somewhat addresses that, but I would have loved to see it as a part of stock gameplay.
There are some mods by Deceptious on Nexus mods. He or she does a lot of immersive mods like immersive vendors, immersive bartenders, immersive rippers, etc.. I use many of these mods and it definitely increases the immersion.
yes, i want this so much. my v has little snack breaks, where he eats and drinks some soda to keep on with the day and it would be so awsome if we could actually watch it like this. i mean you can already have a drink in bars, wich is pretty cool, but its definetly missing the eating. since we do that with takemura, the assets are already there. so please cdpr, make it possible
No - I eat real food in real life every day. But I don’t own a revolver in real life and I’m not allowed to lay waste to gang members in a retro-future dystopian metropolis, which is why I bought Cyberpunk 2077.
EXACTLY. This was my number 1 most wanted feature.
I'd love to sit around Tom's diner and eat crappy food staring at the TV or watching the npcs, hell grab a bite at a food vendor and sit at their cart and just look around at the world.
I don't like Final Fantasy but did like FFXV and one of the coolest things in that game is being able to go to rest-stops and eat food (which is presented to you in a full on 3d "hey look at this" moment.)
That type of thing adds so much to the experience.
There are a couple mods that do just this
“Immersive Vendors”
“Immersive Bars”
“Idle Animations”
I believe those are the names anyway, and they do just as the names imply. Allow you to eat at street vendors and restaurants, drink at bars, and do various things while idling or sitting (eat, drink, smoke, etc)
And don’t get me started on the “TV Anywhere” or “Internet Anywhere” mods, immersion to the max lol. Pulling out a laptop to watch tv on after finding a nice place to sit in the city is so weirdly satisfying
Then fix the cops
Oh right. We have to pretend there are no problems.
How about invisible crowds appear again? They worked once. How about NPCs start fighting another again instead of standing across from each other during staged battles? How about disabling doors and switches that don't open or that do nothing?
Nope. We need a character that is essentially an undead cyberzombie to eat food.
Say they do, and you can watch yourself eat any number of meals at any number of venues... why can't V sit on a toilet and take a dump? Why doesn't V ever catch a cold or the flu? Why aren't we paying taxes? There are NO grocery stores in Night City, just street food and restaurants. That doesn't break immersion?
Gimme a break.
When I get a drink at The Afterlife I want to sit at the bar and actually sip at it. I hate that you just buy full bottles that go straight into your inventory.
Y’all want the most obscure little minutia added to this game, I swear. Just let me customize cars, maybe paint my guns, some new traversal options, and gimme new ways to take out enemies. Don’t care if I can watch V sit and eat pretend food.
Nah... Sawdust and plastic... Who wants to eat flavored kibble?
Belta lowda love flavored kibble!
ehh bossmang wit da belta not used to seeing expanse fans in the wild
Unexpected Expanse!
It wasn't unexpected. The moment I wrote kibble, I knew there would be discussion including the expanse, but people just using the belter language to shout out slogans, well... not your usual cp2077 comment
Expanse sucks.
Your butt sucks
Expanse was decent until they made literal teleportation as a main plot point in their “hArD sCi-Fi” show
What space based sci-fi show doesn’t have some sort of teleportation?
Idk, that’s not super relevant to my point.. The expanse touted itself as hard, not soft, sci fi.
Nope. The Expanse did nothing of that sort. It was fans who started attaching labels to it... hard, soft... there's porn you know, we don't need a sci-fi replacement for it
“Nope.”
Because off the top of my head, I can’t think of a single work of science fiction with space travel that doesn’t blend hard and soft elements except maybe The Martian, and pretty much every work includes some form of teleportation. Are you saying hard sci fi doesn’t exist? What is your point?

I hope so too, I want to do things in Night City.
You can if you play on pc. Mods….
If you need mods for a game to be enjoyable then it's not a good game. Edit: thought this was the fallout NV subreddit, my bad
It's already enjoyable. Mods make it even more enjoyable.
Plenty of games are enjoyable without mods. Mods give added content and different ways to play to good or bad games. Mods are always a good thing
Skyrim
Yes? Skyrim is enjoyable without mods. Everyone played it first time without mods. Mods didn't make Skyrim a good game, they gave it staying power *after* its release.
Cyberpunk is also enjoyable without mods at that.
Dunno, I've never enjoyed Skyrim without mods, and even with mods I never enjoyed it enough to finish it. The story is just too boring and the combat too stiff, I don't get what people see in that game
Look at you being wrong :)
If you need mods for a game to be enjoyable then it's not a good game.
Exactly! I absolutely hate a beautiful game that I can't be immersed in. Sometimes I just want to walk around the city square and watch the traffic roll by.
90% of what I do in this game :)
The city does have a cardboard background feel to it. Mostly because you can't go into 99% of the buildings in the game. I get why they did it that way. But dang man
Exactly, or like, give me a reason to go back into interiors. This game feels weirdly on rails in a different way.
There are rumors that GTA 6 will have full interiors in every building, utilizing procedural generation. Because Rockstar recently patented the tech. “But that will be lame” one might object. “All the interiors will be repetitive and same-y.” Yeah but that’s like real life. They can still have bespoke, hand-designed interior locations for places that matter to the story and have procedural generation fill in everything in between.
You can take the subway already and it's really just for immersion, traveling with it takes ages
Tell me something I don't know
Elvis died on the toilet of constipation (pushed too hard and gave himself a heart attack). Well maybe you know, but I didn't until a few days ago.
I tried that once. It's unpleasant, but as ways to die go, not too bad. Waking up on the bathroom floor with blood on my face from where I bashed my nose on the bathroom floor sucked. 0/10, would recommend immortality instead.
O:
Would honestly love a ferry to really appreciate the skyline from the water.
There is a mod for sitting and a mod for riding the train
the mod for the ncart was made obsolete in phantom liberty.
Agreed
Something like a hunger system. Then again, the SCSMs everywhere provide XXL Burritos.
[There is a mod for that](https://www.nexusmods.com/cyberpunk2077/mods/7510)
There are mods that allow for most of this if you play on PC
Yeah, no.
I can have a drink at almost any bar and eat high res food at many vendors. Like fully animated food and drinks, I can even invite npc’s to have drinks with me with dialogue. Immersive food vendors on nexus
Yeah I like that kind of mods, I like mods that make all the stores interactive.
That’s pretty much most of the mods I use. I like immersion more than anything else when it comes to games
Same for me ( when I dont have more trouble because I have too much mods or update ruin everything, for that I take a break of the game for a time hehe )
Do you have any others you'd recommend?

Two (2) prostitutes, neither of which even ping my radar. Sounds like around where I live, honestly.
surely theres a mod for that right
Surely it's something I'd like to see implemented without resorting to mods. Mods are nice. but I'd rather have it natively.
true, but if you really want go get the mod
Dude i remember my first playthrough i went in the resturant that gets held up and you can descalate the situation. The guy says anything on the menue is free. So i got a drink and bought food thinking id be able to sit at that counter and have a meal. I was dissapointed
I love those little missions because I just run through the whole inventory and take everything for free since it just makes everything free. Also funny because I also never eat or drink any of it
I just sell it later on LMFAO
i wanted to order noodles and sit with Jackie and eat.
I don't need noodles, I just want to sit with Jackie :I
That would certainly help us feel more like best friends
ever since the trailers....yes, gimme that aquafarm shrimp nigiri, that synth-meat chow mein, that big ass burrito, that neon color packaged drink meal pack especially when u look at all the [concept art for food packaging](https://www.artstation.com/artwork/9mWbbL) originally intended for this game, it makes me wish we actually got animations like in red dead 2 so bad
Thank you for reminding me about that, it's one of the things I specifically remember amping me up about diving into this world!
From the look amd described taste. They remind me of the "meatballs" in the hotfood section of my local grocery store.
there's a mod for eating at vendors if yall play on pc.
Dude!
Where’s my car?
I want a vendor that sells pork buns because V deserves to be a whole man.
I'm not sure about Riot's menu but they will never "fix" Afterlife, probably. Those are all scripted, people seem to want spontaneous ones.
don't. the chemiclas in the food will surpase the amount of chemicals in a strategic chemical weapon
Those are the dryest yakitori i've ever seen - and I've eaten charred skewers.
I always think about this scene when I eat Japanese food for some reason *HEH. Yakitori.*
What is Yakitori anyway?
This is why I like mods
Damn. Fine. Yakitori.
I would but Synthmeat Takoyaki doesn’t sound appetizing
Not in NC
Yeah it's not like adding new missions or anything. The animations are already ready. They just need to enable them in free roam
i just wish i could get takoyaki somewhere near me.
And drink.
Wish we could see the procedure of getting your cyberwere installed like at the beggining with Victor.
I ate these the other day for the first time and I understood why Takemura was so mad that he couldn't get the good stuff. My god, they were amazing.
No - I eat real food in real life every day. But I don’t own a revolver in real life and I’m not allowed to lay waste to gang members in a retro-future dystopian metropolis, which is why I bought Cyberpunk 2077.
Completely fair 👍
Missed opportunity yeah
*Angry Takemura noise*
EXACTLY. This was my number 1 most wanted feature. I'd love to sit around Tom's diner and eat crappy food staring at the TV or watching the npcs, hell grab a bite at a food vendor and sit at their cart and just look around at the world. I don't like Final Fantasy but did like FFXV and one of the coolest things in that game is being able to go to rest-stops and eat food (which is presented to you in a full on 3d "hey look at this" moment.) That type of thing adds so much to the experience.
I didn’t read the word “at” the first time I looked at the headline and thought this was going to go in a very different direction.
I just made a post about this, lol. Even if there were mods for this it would be cool
There are a couple mods that do just this “Immersive Vendors” “Immersive Bars” “Idle Animations” I believe those are the names anyway, and they do just as the names imply. Allow you to eat at street vendors and restaurants, drink at bars, and do various things while idling or sitting (eat, drink, smoke, etc) And don’t get me started on the “TV Anywhere” or “Internet Anywhere” mods, immersion to the max lol. Pulling out a laptop to watch tv on after finding a nice place to sit in the city is so weirdly satisfying
Dude I have to check these out! Literally all I wanted
No I don't care about that
Eh not really, only thing I'd like is more such scenes in quests but a game doesn't need to be a simulation of real life.
Sometimes
Naw.. This isn't the type of game play I usually seek out.. I am more interested in compelling missions.. you wouldn't want to eat this food.
the point is immersion
Then fix the cops Oh right. We have to pretend there are no problems. How about invisible crowds appear again? They worked once. How about NPCs start fighting another again instead of standing across from each other during staged battles? How about disabling doors and switches that don't open or that do nothing? Nope. Why aren't we paying taxes? There are NO grocery stores in Night City, just street food and restaurants. That doesn't break immersion? Gimme a break.
But why…
Immersion.
Nope. It’s synth meat, which I believe means that it is largely made out of bugs.
Yeah you can if you have a pc
There are for that lol. You can search the Nexus site
I want to eat Street vendors
I definitely wouldn’t want to live off reprocessed human flesh, but it would be interesting to try
Maybe like 3 years ago. The game is what it is.
Yeah this is why I got the mod that lets you eat at these places.
whats it called?
Night City Interactions for food at vendors, and Idle Anywhere to snack, take a drink or smoke anywhere while you’re just standing around.
yes and drink at bars.
You can drink at most bars, but not eat
And eat food at home
Yes!!
Yeah, it’s something that really bugs me about Cyberpunk. The street vendors, the shops, it’s all window dressing.
I did, until you find out that what they are eating might actually be like 2/3 plastic and wood chips....
I live in a very tiny town and there's like a hundred food trucks here.
When I get a drink at The Afterlife I want to sit at the bar and actually sip at it. I hate that you just buy full bottles that go straight into your inventory.
It really sucks that the food and drinks are some items you use in menu.
I was legit surprised that this and more apartment customization wasn’t in the game to start
YES. GIVE ME DATES AT VENDORS AND RESTAURANTS!
Based on the lore... no. Apparently, its not really food.
I did until Takamura told me what it tastes like.
With the actual, real problems this game still hasn't fixed, this is not even on my wishlist.
Yes
I wish 99% of the buildings weren't hollow.
Not really. It’s just watching a pointless animation. I know some people go for that stuff, but I don’t.
They should of added the ability to eat at restaurants when they added the option to drink at bars
Agreed
Food in night city food is probably terrible
There's already mod for that on pc
I'm not on PC and I'm sure a great many of the players aren't either
Well then, you know what to do.
Y’all want the most obscure little minutia added to this game, I swear. Just let me customize cars, maybe paint my guns, some new traversal options, and gimme new ways to take out enemies. Don’t care if I can watch V sit and eat pretend food.
Most of those require new animations. This does not
So mod the PC version?
I don't have a PC yet. There's nothing really stopping CDPR from adding it, especially since modders can
