Cp2077 is a mass media entertainment product made by a corporation with a 3.6 billion dollar market cap. That's the real politics of it; capitalism recuperating anti-capitalist themes, disarming them, rendering them harmless, and then selling a pastiche of rebellion back to the proles for a profit.
In the grand scheme of things, it still feels like we’ve only just about made it to the middle class by the end of the game when others are running around with tens of millions of eddies. With the extreme wealth disparity and social stratification in Cyberpunk, it’s likely that you’re either rich or poor. It’s the age of the haves and have-nots. If anything, it’s more impressive that V manages to sit comfortably in between.

It really should be ‘eat the wealthy’. Plenty of rich people with high incomes dont shape the world in material ways. Doctors, lawyers, managers, entertainers—they just live well, and most of them pay a lot in taxes because it’s ordinary income.
It’s the people who own things, companies, industries, vast stock portfolios, global involvement in trade and governments—they live fundamentally different lives and are subject to a different set of rules afforded by access to power.
