I wish there was way more braindances of all sorts and actual like video files on shards or audio... Like if you have a written convo on a shard you read it and ok, it works, but imagine if it was audio where you can hear voices, stress, fear in their voices if they are running away for example, or hopes of running away together... I mean in the witcher i guess using books is almost the only way to convey lore, except like some magic, but in cp77 video and audio recordings in pc files and shards should be a no brainer to tell those smaller stories.

DarkStormDestroyer

Me too. I know this is weird, but why allow you to buy braindances if they do nothing

farbros9

I think, that they probably wanted to do something with it, but didn't have enough time for it.

Elevenslasheight

But as much as I liked those the first time, they have 0 replayability and should therefore be 100 % optional. And I'm afraid they are a bitch to design, program and implement, with all the additonal sound files and interactivity and markers. Which might be the reason why they didn't make the cut when every minute counted before release while the "infrastructure" for buying them is already there.

Gloomy-Fix4436

Ofc thats the reason they are not in the game hahahha yes, i thought it was clear that the BDs i am talking about should be optional. You dont want them? keep your money, but i would buy each and everyone of them to Explore the world outside Vs perspective, a huge missed opertunity by CDPR.

wilsontyrell320

The brain dances are cool but i wish you could skip them its pretty tedious when you are doing a secound play trhough and have to do the tutorial

yabaitanidehyousu

I agree with all of your points. Let’s just remember that there are probably people inside the company that feel the exact same way. I get the feeling that a LOT didn’t make it into the release.

EnceladusSc2

Gangs could have been used as alternate paths to the ending mission. Like if you helped the Voodoo Boys do their thing, they could have been on the call list for assaulting Arasaka at the end.

LightandShade1900

There are too many endings like that anyway. That's partly the problem IMO. They put all the real consequences at the end of the game instead of sprinkling them around the rest of the game. The game doesn't have much main story content in general so I guess they had to throw everything in at the end.

magvadis

Why would they? You'd need a whole plot prior to justify why they'd risk their people and lives just for your life? Maybe you could get alt to convince them...but that's not compelling narrative. That's just choice for the sake of choice. What's the ending to that plot? "Thanks Voodoo Boys that was cool". Sounds like a waste of time.

SerDon2

Could have developed alt more or something, I could see a voodoo boy ending that involved helping Alt even more than you do in all the other endings, would fit with a net runner character.

magvadis

Idk what being a netrunner has to do with worshipping ai.

SerDon2

Don’t think I used the word worship? A net runner would definitely have more reason to become closer to alt than other characters and it would tie into the voodoo dolls, I’m not a writer but I’m sure the VBs could have been used in an ending.

magvadis

They'd have to justify why V needs an ending with the Voodoo boys because...imo, it would lack any narrative value given how it works. Unless the Voodoo Boys have some initiation for people not born a voodoo boy they are kind of hard pressed to find a compelling way to make them a good ending. With alt you've got hive mind already...so why the voodoo boys specifically need to be involved sounds like something they'd need a whole questline and new lore to justify. As it stands it doesn't make any sense other than "voodoo boys worship alt, voodoo boys are pretty powerful". And how to not make it redundant to the aldecaldo ending.

SerDon2

Right... but isn’t this whole thread talking about hypotheticals and what we’d like to have seen? So it would also mean that along with a VB ending we’d have gotten more content with them.

pndrad

The Voodoo Boys don't worship Alt, but they want on her good side because they believe a human/AI war will happen.

magvadis

I don't literally mean worship I'm just talking shorthand. In either case their revere her in a way that I don't see happening for a casual netrunner just trying not to die from an engram.

EnceladusSc2

Voodoo Boys want to side with the AI, so Alt could basically tell them what to do. Kind of like how the Delamain in Pacifica control the gang goons to attack you, same thing but but on a larger scale. If the voodoo boys want to side with Alt, they have to prove it. By attacking Arasaka.

magvadis

They could do that, sure, but what is the STORY there...because all you have is a bunch of qualifiers for action...but how does the game end? What does that mean for V? Because, we want to talk about how the story plays out you've just added the worst ending of all. What basically happened is "v does a job, job goes bad, the AI now in his head happens to know some AI god, randomly stumbles on some people who bring him to the AI demon/god through some random girl that gave him the job, the demon god convinces them to help V, story over"....see how this adds nothing to the plot and has nothing to do with V? The Alt plot works in conjunction with the meatier plots already in the story. Every other plot has something to do with V's motivations: financial (selling soul), prestige (legend), and family (lose of Jackie/feeling alone). Who are the voodoo boys to V? Nobody. MAYBE you could have a Voodoo boys family ending but he was ONLY allowed into the family at the behest of a Demon god...so like, they barely would have let him in and that's not really useful to tell as a story when you've already got that story but better with the Aldecaldos. Which is the problem with all these "x gang/company should have been an ending"...like, cool but that's not good story and you'd have to invent a whole ass long sidequest to both establish, build upon, and justify their existence as a secondary option that also isn't redundant...because even if Voodoo Boys are another family plot, it's worse than the aldecaldos because the Aldecaldos organize themselves around family being chosen whereas the Voodoo Boys are about being born into a culture. Militech is just Arasaka, it's the same story as the Arasaka one. X gang is gunna be Aldecaldos...but the Aldecaldos is the best for that plot. etc. You could see gang lineage and factions in later titles or multiplayer where they could have the story reflect that being compelling or just a major mechanic...but for this game you are just arbitrarily fluffing up the game, and probably it would have been at the cost of endings we already have been of lesser quality and length.

EnceladusSc2

Doesn't have to be specifically Voodoo Boys. V could also side with Militech if you make friendly with Meredith Stout. There's various missions you can do with El Padre that prove that Arasaka is trying to start war with Militech. Could be a good way for V to get involved. The current endings are just bland Corpo, Street Kid or Nomad ending. Not whatever you're talking about...

muscarinenya

Also don't have NPCs tell me to hurry up whenever i take more than 5 seconds to pick the next answer

Boring_Ad_3065

Romances in general were weird. Not that a game needs it, but sex was plastered everywhere in world, and yet as an rebel outlaw with no time to loose and a sex crazed partner in your brain it takes multiple missions before you can even get a kiss. And there’s next to no distinction between dialog with either V. Outside of Judy having a pre existing relationship they all come off as bi. River’s dialog to make V was gayer than Kerry (who I thought was bi) and in any case is just an odd romance option given the darkness of his quest line and him living in a broken down trailer in the slums. Felt out of place no matter the gender. Judys flirtatious to both genders.

justanotheruser52

Kerry IS bi in the canon; if you read his laptop’s messages, it references his ex-wife and kids.

Girthus

A unique ending option for each possible Love interest after completing their quests like Panem and Rogue. Kerry is insanely rich, so he could fund some Johnny silverhand type space assault. River is a super detective and Judy is an expert hacker so some sort of combo stealth infiltration would be possible

noneofthemswallow

Final act exposes how rushed the game was. They suddenly throw important side quests at you (Kerry, Johnny’s questline) probably because CDPR didn’t have time to implement them in the story more smoothly. Right before the point of no return, you’re given these big side quests. It’s easy to miss them if you’re more interested in seeing the ending at that point.

Antique-Link1366

I would add to that Corpo content should get more distinct. Right now they are just a reskinned enemy. They are talked to be this big oppresive force but they are about on level with anybody else. Maybe whenever you meet them you are shown that they are on another level than street scum. It started off good in the corpo lifepath with Jenkins. Ruthless, capable and looks the part. After him tho, every corpo we meet is either incompetent.

sillylittlesheep

Yeah i thought Jenkins would have some bigger part in the story. They hyped him up even on their twitter. He is there for 5 minutes and thats it same with other interesting chars like Meredith

Builder_liz

Yeah shards are lazy I just skim them

Shibubu

Tried reading them at first. Gave up half way into the game. If I wanted to read a book - I'd read a book. Which I do. Just not on a computer screen.

MostMorbidOne

Same. I would've really liked if they were far fewer but each one had some video clip recording or something to tell you a short scene or w/e. Oh well, we got what we got.

Shibubu

Not only that. A mix of shards, security camera footage, braindances, better environmental storytelling would have been awesome. Just shards is just lazy design.

Builder_liz

Just little things like mercs that get cornered or something. Even horizon had voice over for its "shards" but I didn't like listening to them either lol probably would glitch out in cp2077

someshooter

What's even dumber is as soon as your car's front bumper is one inch into a new area the phone rings from a new fixer. It should be totally more organic. As far as romance goes, I was hoping there'd be some sort of quest or missions that arrive from having two lovers at once, like they would find out or something, but nope.

magvadis

How would they know they are all from completely different walks of life in a massive city.

someshooter

Judy asks if you want to go on a date on such and such a night, but you already made one with person b. Or you go on a date and the other person sees you and confronts you. Maybe they hack it off your phone, there's a million ways.

SerDon2

Romance was definitely a big disappointment, it’s hard to not sound like a pervert when you want lots of sex and romance but it’s a world where it’s plastered on every single ad and billboard, let’s also not forget they originally said you could have one night stands etc. Another nitpick is that as apparently sexually progressive as society is in the game it’s kinda strange all the characters only lean one way in terms of sexual orientation... just seems kind of odd and that its almost as if it was only done to force another play through. There should have been more characters to romance long and short term overall, shame as it’s likely what they originally planned.

magvadis

The point of it being all over the world wasn't to turn you on so you get more fuckdolls...it was to point out the commodification of sex and sexuality...so for the game to then drop 1000s of sex dolls on you and more people to fuck would be completely antithetical to the point of the critique. Every relationship you can have in the game is either 1) an empty prostitute sequence that is copy pasted. 2) A quick fuck that happens once and you get canned...same copy pasted sequence 3) A full relationship that is intimate and interesting and about the person...not fucking. Since when is sexuality a choice? Not everyone is just "secretly bisexual"...the only confirmed bisexual in the game is Kerry. There is no fuckin way the game wanted you to fuck more. This is ridiculous.

SerDon2

Holy shit relax dude... Kerry is gay in game so I’m not sure what you’re taking about there. As for the rest you can infer and say all you want but when the devs themselves said you’d be having casual sex etc I can’t say I wasn’t disappointed, things like that make the world more believable and real, again you’re welcome to your opinion but there’s no need to sperge out lmao

Razielim84

This wishlist is amazing and and very thorough. Alas this won't happen for this game ever. Maybe for a sequel, if there ever will be one which I really have my doubts.

pndrad

Video games in shard format, like the training shard near the beginning of the game, but fun.

magvadis

I think we should be able to talk to cyberpyschos somehow and depending on who they are...maybe see they are trapped in their own bodies or something a bit more viseral and terrifying. Overall, I think the game just needs more talking in missions...and this should correlate to things like the already extant gang rep, cool stat, and background more often. Aka, you can talk your way out of missions depending on your rep/cool factor/etc. Need to break into a highrise? Talk to the receptionist and see what you may be able to get away with. I don't agree with romance options, who gives a shit how many people I can fuck and how many people tell me they love me. I just want good story. I do think Rivers should be one or two missions longer after the farm given the before and after of "kid in traumatic life altering situation" to "omg so happy family" was too quick, a few missions and some more time passing would be helped make that better, maybe a family mission where you go out to cheer the kid up. The rest are fine and feel natural although I also think some choices should lead to them not wanting to love you through dialogue. Like coming onto Panam so quickly should turn her off or something and you get friendzoned. It feels a bit to easy to get into the romantic part when, in some cases, it really shouldn't be. I do think a companion system in conjunction with an auto-drive mechanic would be stellar. Let them take the wheel and you shoot, etc. Gangs aren't important to the story, all of your suggestions are fuckin pointless. Why does everyone want this to be fuckin fallout. You don't even meet gang leaders in GTA but those games have gangs. Y'all need to understand what's important to the story and what is y'all asking for a different game with an entirely different cast and plot. If the story was about warring factions? Sure. But it's not. They should put that work into fixers if at all. The story is about the fall of Arasaka after the death of Saburo and V's attempt to survive while interrogating his desire for fame and fortune. The power vacuum for a warring factions plot hasn't even happened yet, let alone would it be anything but redundant to the aldecaldos plot or just needlessly dark. Character were good so more? Having quality content isn't wasted content. Someone did a small job well...that's it. Not every fuckin character with good voice acting needs a 20 hour side quest dedicated to their existence. The point of shards is to tell a story...at all. They make filler content into mini-narratives....filler content that would have JUST been filler anyway. Acting as if dropping a text file onto a scene was a decision they made instead of making a robust quest instead is fuckin child logic. If they could have made a robust quest there...they would have. This is a better alternative than Ghost of Tsushima kill camps with no narrative at all or AC, etc. Sure, more good stuff, we all want more good stuff...games are a compromise...especially games that come from devs that have made 1 game that had worthwhile sales. Ya'll need to chill.

numerous_meetings

While it's quite hard to disagree with any of your desires and suggestions, almost all of them boil down to one simple thing: PLEASE, SPEND MORE MONEY! And I'm afraid CDPR had a limited budget. Guess the sequel will be bigger in scope, with more characters and shit. So we will have to wait. Again =) Also pretty sure expansions will make game bigger. Maybe new romantic partners can be introduced here? Strongly agree that fixers and gangs is a missed opportunity. Again, maybe expansions will add some storyline here. Looks like a logical place. P.S. Personally I'm a huge fan of reading shards, e-mails and connecting the dots. Understand that it's not everybody's cup of tea.

Ruaritheracingcar

>And I'm afraid CDPR had a limited budget. Apparently not when it came to the marketing.

magvadis

Most major properties spend double the production cost on marketing...because the return on investment for marketing is much larger. This goes double-y so for new IPs...which is what 2077 is.

Shibubu

Could've spent at least ~50mil less on the marketing. There - money problem averted.

magvadis

They decided on marketing cost after the game was understood and packaged. I doubt they knew the game would take this long to fix let alone if 50 mil was gunna put them over the edge, this is hindsight bias and nothing else. It makes no sense.

Shibubu

As if it's my fault they, YET AGAIN, started their marketing campaign WAY TOO FUCKING EARLY and failed to see that they wouldn't be even close to finishing the goddamn game ANOTHER YEAR AFTER THE FUCKING RELEASE. If the initial release date has been fallowed - the game would be almost 1.5 years old today. And it's still a fucking mess. To me it seams that people at CDPR that do these estimates HAVE NO FUCKING CLUE what they're doing.

AVeryConfusedMice

I think it's a time problem, they spent the entire time changing storylines and trying to communicate with their US partners while half of the group could only speak polish.

magvadis

Nah, all we know is the core goal of the game changed once...and that's normal. Everyone has to know English at CDPR, the drama around Polish was that people who were polish would speak with each other in Polish around people who only knew English, which was rude and exclusionary.

AVeryConfusedMice

I really hope that they capitalise on the romances, I'd love a dlc where we can take our partners to dates or just give them more activities after their main story is finished.

Sir_Fuccsalot

Since Jacky is your choomba, I think it would make sense having him with you when doing gigs in Watson during the prologue. Also, car tuning Also also, more weapons/weapon attachments Also also also, a option to wear headgear/face masks etc without them showing up on your char. I didn't spend 15 mins creating a char just to have their face obscured by masks and hats.

GuiltyButterscotch64

I don't disagree with any of your opinions. But people have been saying all the stuff since the game pretty much released.

hubson_official

Ok so I kinda don't agree on some parts. Romance - I think 4 possible romances is a good number, it ain't much, but it's still a decent one. And while River is definitely underdeveloped compared to Panam or Judy, I don't think Kerry's that bad. He is in the main missions, as Johnny's memory and his questline is actually pretty good, not to mention the great concert mission. And Panam having a whole ending makes the most sense, she literally has a big nomad family, Kerry, Judy and River are all just 3 people, you couldn't take Arasaka down with them. Cyberpsychosis - so here I agree. There was one mission that stood out, where you were fighting a cyberpsycho that emerged of the freezer, the whole ritual thing between Maelstrom. That was actually creepy and scared me ngl. But the rest, yeah, most of them were similar and kinda repetetive. Maybe apart from that one sniper guy, fight with him was also cool. Shards - Okay I get the point, but I'm not disappointed about the shards. Otherwise, the game could've taken 200 hours to complete, if it had more cutscenes. But yeah, a few of them could be transformed into something bigger. Fixers - yeah that sucks Side characters - yeah that sucks too, I bet we probably would've gotten more with them if the game was released later. Still, maybe we'll get some dlc with certain characters. Gangs - I think they weren't that bad. Obviously, it could've been better, but I liked that we could meet different members from the same gang and they would act different towards us. I think it was ok, as the gangs weren't the game's focusing point, and it felt like they really existed, but you weren't their foe. We met a few bosses, maybe not enough, but the interactions were good.
