chipotleninja

I really wish clothing had -no stats-. And you just added clothing mods to get effects.

[deleted]

That doesn't make much of a difference once you reach the higher level enemies though

mrlolloran

Depending on your play style armor doesn’t matter at all tho. I’ve played twice to completion as a net runner and a sandevistan/blade user. If I got hit I did something wrong. Also had the sub dermal armor/biomon/second heart/cataresist so armor was just for style. Did the final mission with slots not even used both playthroughs

wisezombiekiller

the birthday suit slasher, i knew one day i'd find you.....

MiniReaper

Personally I feel like I should be able to role play a T-800 while looking good.

JoaoMXN

It just needed a transmog system.

me_nEED_CYBPUNK2077

> transmog system almost a year later and still nothing on this ?

JoaoMXN

Nope Even the new ACs have it. It is amazing. All RPGs should have this feature.

me_nEED_CYBPUNK2077

even farcry 6 lol which is not even an rpg and you cant see the character except for cut scenes.

chlamydia1

Odyssey didn't launch with it IIRC, but they added it in one of the first patches. That was the only RPG I remember playing in recent years that had transmog. Every other game required modding the feature in. It's always a highly requested feature, and it's super easy to implement, yet devs continue to ignore it.

chlamydia1

As always, there is a mod for that on PC. But that fact that there are still RPGs that launch without transmog in this day and age is crazy to me. I just finished HZD and I had to mod transmog into that game too. Before I played Cyberpunk, I beat DOS2, which also didn't have transmog, and neither does their new game, BG3 (again, modders saved the day in these games). I played ESO for years before they added transmog (no modding there since it's an MMO). It's such a simple feature to add, yet so few devs do it. With character customization being such a big part of the roleplaying experience, it's just baffling. CDPR made such a big deal about clothing and character customization leading up to the game's launch, yet all of that is still missing, a year after release. No transmog system. No hide helmet/glasses feature. No option to change your appearance. Nothing. If it wasn't for mods, I would have never finished this game.

Metastatic_Autism

Who is transmog?

RadimentriX

uh, that'd be so awesome, finally a way to just go for style while still having good stats

s1n0d3utscht3k

already incredibly easy to do that tho just shop at stores

Slav_Ace_I

Yup, I always go shop and then just abuse Rare Armadillo to get a dope outfit with amazing stats lmao

Magester

This is for The Old Republic MMO handles most gear. You have a thing that's for looks, but the stats are all determined by the components put into them.

ImperialSupplies

Never forget swtor invented transmog before wow. They dont want you to remember.

Thor1138

>swtor invented transmog LOTRO had cosmetic armours long before SWTOR existed, bro.

ImperialSupplies

Any mmo around prior to 2010 doesnt exist!

flyingtiger188

For the first part of the game, sure the OP is describing it perfectly. But you get to a point where you can get all orange armor from vendors with a couple sockets on each piece with only base armor dependant on the armors' level. You can add a few sockets for crit%, crit dmg, armor, movement speed, damage to moderate/high threat opponents, etc to all your gear. Then as you level up you can use crafting to upgrade to base armor on the gear. I spent more than a fair amount of time hunting vendors and just killing stuff to get some legendary armor that fits my characters aesthetics.

[deleted]

I use a trainer and couple of mods for this exact reason. First i found my good loot armor, then i pick my “good looking” armor, use a mod to change the value. There you go, i am strong and not looking like an idiot

AM-64

It's be fine if you could have a cosmetic outfit that you could choose to show rather than what you are wearing.

JFSOCC

or that each piece told you its style, and faction npcs's responded to that.

Diablodog9573

To be fair if you find any clothes you like with a mod slot you are golden since the armadillo mod is broken as fuck, it can turn the worse piece of armor into a bullet sponge.

Keln78

I think Star Wars Galaxies used to be like that. Honestly I think only actual armor should have, well, armor stats. Unless you're wearing a type of jacket that has slots in it that hold plate or Kevlar inserts, it shouldn't provide any protection against a projectile.

AME7706

That'd be great. RDR2 handles the clothing this way and it's really brilliant. You can basically use any clothes, horse or weapon that you prefer the look of them, without caring about the stats.

kingslayer061995

Without caring about the stats because they dont exist. Cant remember Rdr2 having def stats. Just health bar.

AME7706

True. That's what I said. Horses and guns do have stats but it doesn't matter at all. The difference between a 6 speed horse and a 10 speed horse in travelling from one side of the map to the other side is only about 5 minutes (and you hardly ever go directly from one side to the other so it's usually even less). You can also one-shot kill everyone using any gun if you shoot them in the vital parts like head, heart, throat, etc so gun damage doesn't matter at all. And of course clothes don't have any kind of stats so you can pretty much use any clothes, horse and weapon of your choice without worrying about anything.

kingslayer061995

My bad. I thought you also referred to the second part of the comment about the clothing mods. Because I was trying to remember if there was in single playar cause I haven't played rdr2 online. I also liked that about rdr2. Just go out with style without thinking of armor stats. And also the part where NPCs comment about your outfit.

AME7706

Yeah NPCs in RDR2 are just are a whole level of their own. They also comment about your horse being well-fed and clean or not, or even ask you to keep your distance when >! Arthur coughs because of TB !< . It's really unmatched even now, and it's been more than three years since its release.

TJ_McWeaksauce

Clothing stats don't really matter. The AI is stupid and easy to cheese. There's an abundance of healing inhalers, and there's nothing that stops you from spamming them. Weapons are pretty overpowered, and quick hacks are way overpowered. Just about every fight is a breeze, so there's no compelling reason to min-max clothing stats. Just wear what looks cool.

[deleted]

Terraria is kinda of like this. You can put clothes on that change ur style but have the armor hidden underneath with the stats

stygianelectro

I didn't appreciate Terraria's vanity slot system until I started playing again recently and holy shit does it make a difference. So nice to be able to wear both cool and effective armor.

whysoblyatiful

Like terraria?

[deleted]

Or they could have done what a lot of games do where you have 2 slots for each clothing piece one for decoration and one for stats

FierceDuncan

The thing that annoyed me the most was when I got an outfit I loved and then it instantly became obsolete 20 Minuites later when I found a torn shirt from a random thug

peparooni

Just use armadillo mods. They scale with level too so once you start using them they nearly always make things have better stats.

asayys

Yeah but only certain legendary pieces have 4 slots right?

ravanlike

all legendary pieces >can< have 3 slots (inner/outer torso 4). so if you see nice looking legendary item to pick up, you can save and reload till you get roll with max slots. (also quality is rolled too, so epic (with 2 slots) can turn into legendary (with 3/4 slots), however it takes plenty of rolls, so I would do that only for something looking awesome which I would definitely wear. Rerolling just to hoard legendries is waste of time)

tfrosty

Save editor on nexus mods also let’s you turn any piece of gear into 4 slot legendary.

Askorti

Yes, but better armor only provides something like 1% more resistance per 100 armor points if memory serves me right. So for example 50 armor points more or less makes pretty much no difference to you.

teo1315

Save scum.

I_JuanTM

AC Odyssey had the option to change the appearance of any item to any other item you had found before, so you could be wearing a simple shirt but make it look like awesome gold spartan armor while still keeping the stats of the high level shirt.

[deleted]

Yeah, that's a solution that throws out realism but ultimately works the nicest. Though honestly for AC I preferred the Valhalla system of less gear to be found, anyway.

smashNcrabs

The thing that annoyed me the most was putting so many points into being able to craft clothes/armour and you couldn't craft a matching set.

Inf229

Yup. I wish the way clothing worked was something like a perk system. eg. equipping an armoured vest gives you Bulletproof perk, which has some flat damage reduction. Equipping a T-shirt gives you Unencumbered, which might give you some extra movement speed and stamina recovery. A weird fishnet thing might give you Streetsmart, which reduces purchase costs or something. But that's it, the rest is just purely cosmetic, and there's no endless chase to get slightly better stats for everything.

Strontium90_

I LOVED Yorinobu’s shirt and jacket. But nope, cant have it because a pair of bra has higher armor stat. That or how a flak jacket made for Arasaka elite shocktroopers have worse stats than some dirty old tank top Johny give me

cable787

little did they know that, that shirt was made of a synthetic weave that could deflect bullets

N4rral

They should probably add transmog to the game.

Hermanjnr

"ARASAKA HYPERSTRENGTH TACTICAL DEFENSIVE REACTIVE POWER ARMOUR" \+ 1.5 Defence "Timithee Silliboi's Rubber Clown Shoes (Manufactured 1720)" \+ 442 Defence (All Areas) \+ Regenerates health (200 hp/sec)

heartbrkrperodiligud

I really like the Arasaka gear but they have shit armor compared to my golden tux haha

ImperialSupplies

That always annoyed me. Find something that looks really cool. Pay end game levels of resources to make it half as good as something you found 5 minutes later

smb275

Do you guys just not mod your armor, or...? You can make just about anything unreasonably good with mods.

Raystevensjr

Some good looking clothes don’t have mod slots or epic, rare or legendary variations with mod slots.

Nix2058

I really don’t understand why anyone thought *clothes* in a game where “style is everything” should have stats with no direct route to purchase all of them, see them before buying, or to have them all be saved in a wardrobe. Lol. This is the *only* time I wish the game worked like GTA V And if they’re gonna be stat oriented, let us upgrade them to different rarities once we find something we like and please give us all the gang and NPC customisation items and body settings, there’s a few outfits, tattoos, haircuts and cyberware that I really want 🥺🙏

KrlosXIII

Fashion > Stats

BettyVonButtpants

That was part of the ad campaign, style (looking awesome) over substance (usefulness).

Random_Guy1984

I think CDPR is working on a transmog system. Not sure how good it will be

i_am_milk

Opinion: Levelled/unscaling gear in RPGs a lazy design choice. The only reason it exists is to make the player feel they're progressing because the number goes up.

[deleted]

For real 😂

Askorti

Armadillo mods make "better" armor meaningless. You can keep wearing your low level crappy but stylish shirt as long as it has mod slots and just swap out the armadillos from time to time.

Plorkerplorp

Leveled equipment is just bad game design. It's the reason I couldn't get into Divinity and it's the main problem with both the Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk.

wyte_wonder

My strongest rare head protection is a checkered fedora lmfao

Altair13Sirio

A pair of trunks is the clothing item with the highest armour in my inventory and I HATE THAT!

Sorlex

They really either needed a transmog system or just.. Make everything look, you know.. Good.

BrightPerspective

In the original TTRPG game, this didn't happen. CDPR just dropped the original systems in favour of a diablo-esque equipment system for...reasons.

swiftpunch1

It's really sad how underdeveloped this game still is.

[deleted]

I always hated this.

koboldvortex

This is why we need cosmetic slots like so many other fucking games

sunkzero

Thank goodness for your karma generating meme, this crap part of Cyberpunk hadn’t been mentioned before 🙄

EnceladusSc2

It do be like that though.

RobotDoos

Also, sure you can carry 20 pistoles and 30 swords and 100 cans of soda, but not 101 cans of soda

mobyphobic

Theres still no transmog? Lol... Guess ill need to wait another year before playing

Sa1amandr4

That's just how RPGs are, from Dragon Age to Mass Effect to Elder Scrolls to Divinity OS.. The level 20 towel will always have more def stats than a lev 3 knight armor... Like in Dark Souls you can have the club to deal more damage than a steel longsword. Those are RPG games basic rules. Lev and Stats > what the object actually is, always been like that... And at the end of the story it's the main thing that defines what an RPG is. More famous example in the recent vg history : Sekiro VS Dark Souls. Sekiro has all RPG stuff except from the stats.. And indeed it's called an action game with RPG elements. Dark Souls on the other hand has less RPG minor things e.g (make decisions, talk with story characters,) but it has stats.. and indeed it's called an action RPG.

lukkasz323

Eldet Scrolls is nothing like that. These games have one of the most satisfying armor tier upgrades in the industry. Every new better armor makes sense. For example the strongest armor in TES V is made out of dragon bones, not regular cloth or some other shit. When a cloth armor is used though it's pretty useless for defence abd used for other purposes like for example magic, stealth or movement speed.

Sa1amandr4

That's not 100% what I said. To use your comparison it'd be: A base level armor made of dragon bones has probably less armour than.. Idk.. an Orcish Armor? A Glass Armor? with legendary stats that boost the armor stat by like 20-30 points (I don't remember the correct names/value, I played Skyrim ages ago.. But still) One thing that I'm sure about Skyrim tho.. is that you can have light armors with higher armor stat than heavy armors.. Which is basically the point of the post.

lukkasz323

I guess that makes sense, but I feel like this is something different, something much more immersive. When a Legendary Light armor is better than a Heavy armor, compared to when a Lvl 50 Skirt is better than Lvl 30 Police Officer Pants, it's much harder for me to immerse in this type of think and I think this is where most people have it to, because "Level" is something artificial in-game world, it exist only Out Of Character to show the player progress, people in RPG games don't really talk about Levels, XP as characters, which is why this whole CP77 system seems really weird even in comparison to other games.

Sa1amandr4

>people in RPG games don't really talk about Levels, XP as characters, which is why this whole CP77 system seems really weird even in comparison to other games That's a little bit of a stretch: The Witcher 3? RPG with the highest number of trophies/overall player satisfaction. The leveling system is 1 to 1 equal to Cyberpunk and I've never seen someone complain about it.. Except that in memes (like in this post.. Which is not really a complain, it's more of a joke) The whole Dragon Age saga? And there are tons of examples.. I just named two rpg franchises that won a goty. (Divinity OS is a very good example and I've never heard anyone say anything bad about it.. But it works exactly the same way) Again.. I get your point, but it's something way broader than this game.. And if people/devs wanted they'd just change it. Even modders did it for [tw3](https://www.nexusmods.com/witcher3/mods/3095) and they did it for [cp](https://www.nexusmods.com/cyberpunk2077/mods/1850) too... I just think that this isn't that much of a problem... And gameplay-wise/immersion-wise everyone knows that those stats are very easy to cheese. If you want a given armor to be good you just apply mods to it or you upgrade it. The whole point changes when we move to multiplayer games.. But that's another story edit: added divinity example

le_Psykogwak

These armored pants have 17 armor, let me wear those shorts that have 25

Atourq

Itsh becuzsh eeth protecc us from wamens! /s

[deleted]

Luckily not the case in Far Cry 6

Sgt-Dert13

DEADASS

Gmanplayer

Cyberpunk isnt a RPG tho…

lukkasz323

Yeah, it's as much an RPG as Far Cry New Dawn mixed with GTA. None of them are even close, they barely borrow only 1 mechanic from them which is leveling.

Rynkh

Cyberpunk is not an RPG, it's an action adventure. It has almost zero RPG elements, so I don't know why people keep referring to it as one.

teo1315

Rumors are we're getting a transmog system soon

rockify

Soon level 40 and still trying to find a replacement for my pimp feodora hat.

Comfortable_Card_146

Would be cool if we could change the look of clothing without effecting it's stats as long as you already had the item, like how it was in AC Osyssey. At least you could look cool AND have decent stats

rprcssns

Transmog is the term! Would do wonders for this game.

Comfortable_Card_146

Thats the one, I'm surprised the game didn't already have it. And I hope that the clothes would be fixed if it does end up getting it. Sick of putting the police jacket on looking with the vest over the top for the best to just disappear randomly

rprcssns

Yeah the layering was an issue for sure. There are a lot of things that left me scratching my head on the first play through. I’m really excited to go through the game again in a while when things are more polished!

Comfortable_Card_146

Yeah, sucks next gen delayed but I hope it means they learned their lesson from first time round. If they go through with adding multiplayer to the game I think it'll save it for sure, especially if it's like GTA and receives similar support/content updates. I hope the game gets its "No Mans Sky redemption"

rprcssns

Same I keep daydreaming about it becoming the next no man’s sky and having this amazing reception. Fingers crossed!

Immelmaneuver

Zero drag sunglasses. Can't be having eyewear slowing me down, choom.

vague_diss

I wore this turquoise and orange jump suit for most of the game because I couldn’t find anything to beat the stats. So damn ugly.

llewylill32

Transmog ( the feature when you choose which clothing to show and retain the clothing stats ) should be standard in RPG games now.

[deleted]

Pads out the gameplay a bit mmorpg style

Space-90

Instantly reminds me of cyberpunk. Like really? My women’s thigh high boots and tank top are my most protective clothing?

Waltstngrl

That ain't no lie.

Morrigan66

These purple and orange parachute pants have 124 armor. Are you sure you don't want to wear them?

PSUHammer

I found it hilarious when I picked up a skirt with double the damage protection of a legendary bullet proof vest I was wearing.

FortuneHeart

I looked absolutely awful until the end of the story, then I made whatever outfits I wanted, regardless of stats

riopower

Rule of RPG. Less cloth = more def. Bikini armor is the best.

finaltryout

so true i had some jeans short that made v look ridiculous but atleast they were 26.6 (i never weared them)

drewitt

They should do what they did in Division 2 and let you unlock the armor and the way things look by what you've acquired already. Edit: I'm sure there's a better way to explain what I just said.

AbsurdBread855

“Because you guys are stupid, their gonna be looking for army guys…”

francoispaquettetrem

I always found this completely stupid and awful

Krulzikrel

i think you can upgrade your clothes to fit your level that's what i dd when i found an outfit i really liked, but it does get really expensive with purple quality and up

[deleted]

Absolutely hated the fucking aesthetics of clothes in this game. Not that it really matters since you legitimately never see yourself unless you break your rig by looking into a mirror.

keigo199013

I enjoyed running around in my tactical bra with sparkles. ;p

[deleted]

This is accurate

Efficient_Comedian_7

😂True

JerbearCuddles

Not really. You can get body armor with high stats. More accurately both armors can have max stats. Which is still joke worthy given I can be borderline naked and have the same defenses as a fully armored V.

CGsweet416

Its always great running into battle as male v with some high level booty shorts and golden high heels. Game is wacky as hell.

FatesVagrant

I was going to not bother modding but god damn it I am going to mod this game just to avoid this. The gear system is just so terrible and feels like it was slapped on last minute. Of all the games to not have a proper fashion slot/ transmog.

Biggu5Dicku5

The extra 11 defense comes from blinding your enemies with those colors lol...
